Pros:  Best bat in the world! Never cracked like most people I hear. Very Balanced. Pop outstanding. Never had a Composite bat this good for so light.

Cons:  The bat only breaks if you use it in a batting cage with hard rubber balls. Also, It's hard to keep up with slow pitchers because it's so light. My bat did not break though. No Cons over all.

Pros:  My son has had a love / hate relationship with this bat ever since the day we brought it home last year. He is a taller, skinnier kid, which always made apprehensive about letting him swing a drop 10 bat. After taking many swings with different bats, he decided that this bat felt the most comfortable. As a disclaimer, my son plays at a very high level and his team qualified and played in the USSSA Elite 32 World Series in Disney this past fall as 9 year olds. I myself have been coaching baseball for 22 years - Ages ranging From College to t-ball. The bat is light for sure and was easy for him to bring through the zone. The bat held up for 80+ games last season and countless BP sessions. It is extremely balanced.

Cons:  1) Break in takes forever. I hit 500 half swing soft tosses into a net before I handed it to my son. Took 3 more weeks for the bat to being to perform. 2) Small Sweet spot. Anything not hit between the "LYS" in Catalyst creates a "clunk" instead of a "ping. 3) Vibrations on mis-hits are pretty severe. Creates some apprehension. 3) You give up a lot of bat mass on the drop 12 to pick up marginal bat speed. The ball just doesn't fly like it does off a Drop 10 bat. Do yourself a favor and forget about this bat. Spend the extra money and buy an Attack (If you're a Louisville fan) or a DeMarini CF6. We bought both for this coming year and are much more pleased with the results off of both of them. I'm positive you won't be disappointed either.

Pros:  Great pop, cool graphics. Great bat for power hitters. Comparable to the XL3.

Cons:  Takes a while to break in, but after that you will be hitting them to the fence!

What is the difference between this bat and the TPX Catalyst XL, other than the price?

This Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst (SL13C) Senior League bat features a 2 5/8" barrel diameter while the Catalyst XL (SC13CXL) offers the larger 2 3/4" barrel diameter. Aside from that, the bats are the same in design. But some leagues will not allow the use of a 2 3/4" barrel diameter.

Is this bat approved for kid pitching? or machine pitch? My sons are 6 & 8 years old but they are moving up to 9u baseball. No more coach pitch. Most of the bats in a 28" 18oz size with big barrels are not approved for kid pitch do to durability and all that. Is this bat ok to go?

Yes, the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst (SL13C) is approved for kid pitch.

could you use rubber balls with this bat

You could use the rubber dimple balls, but we would not recommend using the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst: SL13C Senior League with those balls. Those balls tend to damage the bat more than regular baseballs due to their density. Using these balls may also void the warranty on the bat.

Description for Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst: SL13C Senior League
New for 2013! Louisville Slugger has a rich tradition of quality dating back to 1884. Since their beginning, Louisville Slugger has focused on improving their bats year in and year out in order to help make players the best they can be. One of last year's hottest new designs was the TPX Catalyst, and it's ready to jump start players' games again this season! Made from C1C Composite and featuring winged graphics, the one-piece Catalyst is designed to send the ball flying! The C1C Composite is precisely layered with toughened epoxy resin to make it not only high performing, but insanely durable for a mid-level priced bat! The thing that really makes the Catalyst stand out though is the -12 length to weight ratio! This unique design makes the Catalyst one of the lightest senior league bats to EVER hit the market! The Catalyst is topped off with the patented Louisville Slugger End Cap that dampens vibration and traps that energy in the barrel to create explosive bat to ball contact! With a 7/8 inch tapered handle and a synthetic leather grip, the Catalyst will feel amazing in your hands as you prepare to hit your next homer! Louisville Slugger: Be the Best, or Swing the Rest! The Catalyst features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp and is approved for play in 2012 and beyond! It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!
Customer Testimonial

The bat pack I bought was perfect. I was able to get two bats, originally retailing for $249 each, for $150 total for my 9 and 11 year old nephews. At their ages, there is absolutely no point in spending $250-300 on a bat. I couldn't be happier. I will mention your site to my little league, specifically for the bat packs.
