  • Massive Sweet Spot

Description

The next generation of Power Brigade has arrived. Now in its second season, this groundbreaking line of bats is unlike anything else on the field today. The concept is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series (XL1, XL2, and XL3) and the Speed Series (S1, S2, and S3). The XL Series is designed for bigger, stronger hitters who derive their power from a bat with more mass. Smaller length to weight ratios, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot and a slight end load characterize the XL Series. The Speed Series, on the other hand, helps players increase their swing speed in order to generate more power. These bats feature lighter length to weight ratios, a lower M.O.I., and a balanced feel. Further trying to equip players with their perfect bat, Easton offers all of its Power Brigade bats in a two-piece IMX Composite/SIC Black Carbon design (XL1, S1), a two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Scandium Alloy hybrid design (XL2, S2), and a one-piece THT Scandium Alloy design (XL3, S3). Two of the highest performing materials ever used on a bat, Easton's patented IMX Composite optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance, while their THT Scandium Alloy provides solid durability and allows for a larger alloy sweet spot than is seen anywhere else on the field. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology, and you've got a line of bats that can't be topped. Easton: Personalize Your Power! The Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB13X3 is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 400 Day Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Cons: Don't really see the power from the massive sweet spot yet, but maybe weeks of indoor practice haven't allowed us to see it yet.

Pros: We have tried many, many bats the last year or two, and either this bat fits my son just perfectly, or it is a bomb dropper no matter who swings it. He went from hitting it to our driveway on a roll to smashing it over the driveway on the fly the first time he swung it. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!

Pros: Moved my son up from a 29" XL1 to this in 30" mainly because of price. My son is hitting bombs in the outfield with it. If he's not getting the hit of the game then another kid using this bat is.

Cons: Some stings and I question the pop compaired to a composite barrel. Very stiff bat tends to make my son hit opposite field often or just be slower in his swing compared to his older XL1. Think I'll spend the money and get a 2-piece next time.

Still great 1bigkid coach

Pros: I did a review on this bat several months back. I had said I question the one-piece design but my son gravitates towards this bat. He has an XL1 and has been using this bat for batting practice at the cages and when I pitch to him. He seems to barrel the ball better with his XL3. With months and months of abuse there are no dents, dings or loose parts and the ball still flies off it.

Cons: Paint chipping at the handle knob and some scratches with months of wear and tear.

Pros: The ball jumps off this bat. The sweet spot on this bat is longer. The barrel is longer. Has a good, even feel to it. The smile on my son's face. Cheaper than the Easton Mako. The first time my son used his new XL3 bat was a scrimmage game. The first ball he hit screamed over the left fielders head for a triple. This bat is sooo worth the money! Kortex parent

Pros: Amazing pop, such a great sound when hit well. My son is 8yrs old now and until we bought this bat, had just been using whatever was cheapest at the local sporting goods store. I guess it hasn't really mattered until now, but now the kids are really starting to play real baseball. My son got this bat and is now the best batter on his team. Last game he had 2 home runs! And I feel like he is just getting used to the bat. If you think about how many hours you spend with your son practicing baseball, taking him to games, etc., splurging on a nice bat is well worth it in my opinion. And this is the bat you want to get. All the kids playing the Little League World Series use this bat. A little heavier than the XL1, but I think the more mass results in farther hits. My 8yr old got the 28" 17oz XL3 on sale for last years model. If you want to step up your son's hitting, get this bat, well worth the money. You will have a good time at his games for sure :)

Cons: None that I can think of. Sometimes he gets a stinger, but I don't think any bat is completely immune to that.

Pros: I bought this bat for my grandson who is 12...He had been using the Easton Surge (excellent bat) for two years but I felt it was losing it's pop. So I bought this bat for a replacement. I wanted to get him the Easton XL1, but he chose the XL3 for the extra weight. He has only used this bat in two games thus far, but I have not seen the pop in it that he with the Surge.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB13X3? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My son is 9 and is small for his age, but has a very fast swing. Should he get the S series or the XL series. What is the difference between the 2 and 3 series as it effects a 9 year old? Thanks, Andrew. dad
The 2013 Easton XL3 is designed for a power hitter. It is a one-piece, end loaded bat. The Easton XL2 is also end loaded, but it is a two-piece bat, better for a contact hitter with a little bit of power.
Kara
My son is using a 28/15 2013 DeMarini Voodoo do u think he can handle 28/17 2013 Easton XL3? markd
That is difficult for us to answer without being able to see and analyze your son's swing with his current bat. However, if he has good swing speed and good bat control with his Voodoo, then he should be fine with a 17 oz. XL3.
Tyler
Whats the differance between this and last years model??? nick
There were no major upgrades to the 2013 Easton XL3. Both models will feature a different look, but similar feel and performance.
Noah
My son is almost 11, weighs 105 lbs and is just shy of 5 ft tall. Would this be a good bat for him?? Bob
The 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 would be a great choice. Based on his size, a 30" model is recommended.
Tyler
What is the difference between the XL2 and XL3? Jeff
The Easton XL2 will be a two-piece design consisting of a composite handle and an alloy barrel. The Easton XL3 is going to be a one-piece alloy design.
Noah
is this a composite bat Alex
This is a one piece Scandium alloy construction. Here is the link to view more details on this model. http://www.justbats.com/product/2013-easton-xl3--yb13x3-youth/15954/
Derek
is this bat going to be available in a 2 5/8 inch barrel? shane
Yes. The 2 5/8" model is 2013 Easton XL3: SL13X39.
Tyler
Is this bat BBCOR certified? Also what about the XL2? b-dawg
No youth bat is BBCOR certified. Only Adult -3 models are BBCOR certified.
Tyler
What is the reason for a 2 piece rather than a 1 piece? The one piece is priced better but is there something a 2 piece does better? Abaseballdad
A one-piece bat like the 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth is stiffer, better for a power hitter. The 2013 Easton XL2 is a two-piece bat that provides more flex or whipping action, better for a contact hitter. Composite material is more expensive to manufacture, and therefore is more expensive.
Kara
My son just turn 10 years old, weights about 75 pounds, and is 4'8 what is a good size for him in this bat? Isaac
Your son should be using a 29" 19oz. bat. The Bat Coach will guide you through a short series of questions such as player height and age to determine the appropriate size bat.
Noah
Is there a difference in performance in the XL1 full composite versus XL3 full aluminum alloy? Buzz
The Easton XL1 is a two-piece composite versus the Easton XL3 which is a one-piece alloy. The XL1's composite barrel after broken in will be higher performing than the XL3. The XL1 is also a two-piece bat which will have some flex to help increase bat speed.
Damon
What is the best type of bat for rif balls (aluminum or composite)? 10 year old son plays with rif in spring league and diamonds in the summer league. RIf balls, not the squish T-balls. KJ
Both alloy and composite bats work well with the softer RIF baseballs. Neither is proven to preform better than the other when used with RIF baseballs.
Tyler
I have last yrs model , seems to have lost its pop, is that possible? We have been using in 35 to 40 degree temperatures, don't know if there is a need to trade for a new model or wait till weather warms up. freese
It is possible for all bats to lose their pop over time. Using any bat in temperatures under 50 degrees will also decrease its lifespan. If you feel your bat is dead, Easton may be able to cover it under their warranty and you'll have to contact them at 1-888-259-1297.
Tyler
How do I break this bat in? billy
The 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth bat is a one-piece alloy design. Therefore, it will be hot out of the wrapper and require no break-in period.
Doug F.
I am 4 feet 10 inches and I am a leadoff hitter for an AAU team. I can hit for pretty good power and contact. I weigh 85 pounds. What Easton bat would be the best fit for me? matt
All Easton has great pop. But especially the XL series. The XL Series bat has a end load. Which the added weight adds extra power and would be the right fit for a power hitter.
Chad M.
My son is 11 years old, but is 5'6" and weighs 150 lbs. What size is best for him? AF
Based on his height and weight, I recommend a 32" 21 oz. model in the 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth bat. For further information on sizing, please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Aubrey
My son just turned 11 years old. He says he likes a heavier bat. He's 4'11" and 105 lbs. Is a 32" 21 oz. bat too big? Arlington Dad
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 30" model in the 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth bat. For further information on sizing, please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Aubrey
Does this bat typically take a significant amount of time to break in? I just took my son out with it for the first time and within 20 minutes it seemed to have more pop. ahda
The 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth does not require a break-in period. Fully alloy bats, such as the XL3, will be hot right out of the wrapper.
Katie
I just ordered the 31" 2013 XL1, but I heard that cold weather is bad for the bat. I have enough money for the 2013 XL3 too and am wondering if I should get this bat for cold weather. What do you think? LLplayer18
In general we do not recommend using the 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth or any bat in temperatures 55 degrees and under. That being said, alloy bats tend to fare better in the cold than composite bats.
Marcus
What is the length to weight ratio for a 32" 21 oz bat? Jean
The length to weight ratio for the 32" 21 oz. 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth is -11.
Marcus
How long would it take to get the bat shipped to me? chan
Our free shipping option is guaranteed in 5 business days, though UPS generally gets to every location in the continental US in 2-3 business days.
Marcus
Would cold weather dent this bat? kyler
When the weather drops below 55 degrees, the ball will become more dense and that can dent any bat even the 2013 Easton XL3 Youth.
Chad M.
I'm thinking about getting the S1, the S2, or the XL3. I don't know which one to get, so I have some questions. What bat has the most power? What bat has the most pop? Also what bat do you think would be good for contact hitters who get a lot of hits who do not care about weight but looking for a good powerful bat with pop Sexy
The 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth has a slightly end loaded feel and would be preferred by players more oriented for power hitting. The Easton S1 and S2 would better suit a contact hitter with their balanced swing weight. Performance between the three bats will be very comparable.
Mac
My son is 9 1/2. He weighs about 75lbs and is 55 inches tall. What size would you recommend, the 28 or 30 length? Jim
Based on his size, a 29" model of the 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 would be the recommended size. In choosing between the 28" and 30" models, I would lean towards the 28" model as the XL3 is an endloaded bat with a heavier swing weight.
Tyler
Hi, I am a 12 years old, 83 lbs, and i'm 5' 3". I have a pretty quick swing, but i'm trying to decide whether to look at the XL2 or XL3. Does the XL3 have to be used in certain weather conditions? There it goes
The Easton XL3 is an alloy barrel bat so it can be used in any temperatures.
Noah
Would this bat be considered a big barrel? K.Y.
The 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth bat would not be considered a youth big barrel. Once the barrel diameter reaches 2 5/8", then it would be considered a big barrel bat. This bat only has a 2 1/4" barrel.
Derek
What is the difference between this bat and the 2012 model? chris
Easton did not make any changes except for the graphics in the 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth.
Kara
Is the XL3 fully composite or alloy? rooney toones
The 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 is a one-piece, fully alloy bat with an end load swing weight.
Mac
My son turns 11 in mid-May. He is 78 lbs. He is using a 2 5/8" SL13S310 29/19 for travel ball. Most of his hits favor the middle of the field to right center. He needs a 2 1/4" bat for town ball. Which is a better choice between the YB13X3 30/19 or YB13S3 30/17? I was favoring the 30" bat and trying to keep the weight the same as the travel ball bat, knowing he could use the 2 1/4" bat next town ball season. I prefer the alloy bat but would entertain the composite, if it is a better choice. dean
It's never recommended to move down in weight. Thus, a 30" 19 oz. model of the 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 would be a better choice.
Tyler

Tyler
My 8 year old son is a pretty big kid/strong right handed hitter. He usually lets the ball travel pretty deep in the zone and hits a lot to right field. With this "end loaded" bat, would that slow his bat speed too much? Shane
The 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth is end loaded and is best suited for a power hitter. It is recommended for a player who has quick bat speed.
Kara

If you are a power hitter, the 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth would be the best choice. It is slightly end loaded, best suited for a player with power and quick bat speed.
Kara

Tyler
What is the best bat to use for a 4' 11" 96 lbs. 9 yr. old boy? He is a lead off, contact hitter with power? Big Papi
The 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth bat would be a great option. The -11 drop size will be light enough for the 9 year old player. Yet, provide some pop with the XL3's end loaded swing feel. The one-piece fully alloy design will also help provide a stiffer feel that power guys tend to love.
Brandon
What is right size bat for a 11 1/2 year old who is just under 5' and about 90 lbs? Rich
Our Bat Coach would suggest a 30", but you can go up or down an inch if you are more comfortable. The weight of the bat will depend on a players strength. The average weight is a (-12).

I am 11 years old, 5'1" and 112 lbs. I have the S1 bat at 31 inches. I am more of a power hitter than a contact hitter. Would the XL1 or the XL3 be better? Which bat has more pop for my style of hitting? Lucas D
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 31" model in the 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth bat. Both the Easton XL1 and XL3 are great choices for a power hitter, but the XL3 will be more stiff and preferred more by power hitters.
Aubrey
I am 4' 10", 10 years old, and weigh 100 pounds. I am a power hitter. I use a 31" 20 oz. Easton Typhoon. I want to hit one over, but my bat stops me. What size XL3 should I use? Buster
Based on Bat Coach results, 30" to 31" is the recommended length of 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 for you. I would not recommend going backwards in length, but the XL3 will be one ounce heavier than your Typhoon; in the same length. We do recommend increasing the weight of your bat 1-2 oz. every season. So I would recommend the 31" model of XL3. For further bat sizing information, check out Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/

What is the difference between a youth & a big barrel bat. Son is 10 yrs. old C.
The difference in the 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth bat compared to the Senior League version is the barrel diameter. All youth bats will have a small barrel diameter of 2 1/4". Senior League big barrel bats will have a barrel diameter of 2 5/8" or 2 3/4".
Brandon

The Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth will have a composition using scandium alloy which should provide less vibration and comfort. It will also has an extended barrel and a massive sweet spot as well.

Jackosn
What is the best size Easton composite bat for my son? He is 4' 3", 9 years old, and weighs 52 lbs? Breambuster
Based on his height and weight, our Bat Coach tool recommends a 28" model. But the specific model that's best for him really depends on his strength. The MAKO would offer the lightest feel with the biggest sweetspot while the S1 would be a very balanced -12 model. If he's more of a power hitter, the -10 length to weight ratio and slight end load of the Easton XL1 Youth might be the best call.
Mac
My son is 62 lbs. He is 4'7" and 9 years old. We are looking for the right length, drop and weight. He's not really a power hitter. Any suggestions? Thanks. djmusser
The Easton XL3 (YB13X3 Youth) bat would be recommended in a 29" 18 oz. model for his age and size. This bat will have a slight end load or barrel heaviness that can help with adding power. You just have to make sure his bat speed doesn't suffer.
Brandon
How many hits does it take to break it in? LS
The Easton XL3 (YB13X3) does not require a break in period and will be hot right out of the wrapper.
Bobby
When are you going to have a 31" model in stock? miggy
The Easton XL3 (YB13X3) is an older model, so we will not be getting more sizes in stock. We do have the 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) Youth in stock in that size: http://www.justbats.com/product/2014-easton-xl3--yb14x3-youth/18448/
Damon
How do you increase bat speed with this bat? lsnow
If your looking for bat speed the Easton XL3 (YB13X3) may not be a good choice because its a good bat to generate power with its end-loaded design. If your looking to add bat speed I would suggest the Easton S1 (YB13S1).
Zach
My boy swings a big barrel (Worth 29" 19 oz). He only weighs 70 lbs. He plays travel ball and drives the ball very well with this bat size. He will be playing Little League along with travel this year and needs a good 2 1/4 bat. I am not really worried about bat speed because he has a really quick bat with the above bat. So could he handle the XL3 versus the S series? I am looking for some power with a combo of his quick bat and the weight of the XL3. We like the one piece aluminum. mark
The Easton XL3 (YB13X3) is an end loaded bat and is ideal for a player with quick bat speed. Since he is using a -10, the change to a -11 should not be an issue.
Kara
If you generate speed with this bat, will you generate power? lrsnow
With any bat, including the Easton XL3 (YB13X3), the faster you swing, the more power you will produce.
Justin R.
What if you already hit some yellow balls from extra innings? But not many. lrsnow
The Easton XL3 (YB13X3 Youth) bat was not designed to hit the yellow dimpled cage balls. If you only did it for a short limited time, I am sure your XL3 would still perform normally. I would just be more careful from here on out.
Brandon
My son is 8 years old, and is 4'7" tall, and weighs 79 lbs. He just made the travel team for Pony and are wanting to increases his bat speed. We are looking to purchase his first double barrel bat and want to make sure we make the right investment, would this bat be a good choice? Ang
Typically, for players that are looking for help in generating bat speed, they look at purchasing a two-piece balanced designed bat. The Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB13X3) is a one-piece designed bat that is slightly end-loaded. Bases on the information you provided and what you are looking for, I would not suggest going with the Easton XL3 but something more like the Easton S500C Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S500C).
Liz
can I use this bat in 40 and 55 degree weather homerun hitter5
We do not recommend using any bat at temperatures below 55 degrees. When the temperature sinks below 55 degrees, the ball becomes denser and has the ability to damage the barrel walls of the bat. If a player is participating in a practice that is being held in conditions with a temperature below 55 degrees, we would recommend using an older model bat that will no longer be used for games. If a game is being held in conditions below 55 degrees we would recommend warming up with a non-game model bat and then only using the your Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB13X3) in the actual game.
Ben
I like the feel of this bat, but was wondering if the the barrel length and size of this bat is the same as the YB14S500C. What's the main difference? Nick
The Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB13X3) is a one-piece alloy bat with a slightly end loaded swing weight. The YB14S500C is a two-piece hybrid with a balanced swing weight. It has a composite handle and an alloy barrel. The XL3 has one of the longer barrels in youth bats. It will have a bigger sweet spot as result compared to the YB13S500C.
Jason
My son is 11 years old and his weight is 138 pounds and he is about 5 foot 2. He is a strong boy. Would you recommend this bat for him? If not, which one? TJ
The Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB13X3) would be an excellent choice for a stronger player like your son. The end-loaded swing weight should provide added power by focusing the mass of the bat to the hitting zone.
Patrick

Joe
How does the XL3 compare to the Mako bats? What is the technical advantage if any? Fred
The biggest difference between the Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB13X3) and the Easton Mako is the weight distribution. The XL3 is going to have an end load weight designed for power hitters, and the Mako is going to have an even weight distribution designed for contact hitters.
