  • I play on a 10u team and the mako has so much pop it's the best bat I have ever used if you hit it on the handle it still will go far and it doesn't even sting it has a huge sweet spot and the mako is like a trampoline the ball flies off the bat and goes far the grip feels so good and win you hit it it doesn't feel like you hit it the one that I use is composite I just listen for the pop it sounds like a wooden bat and it is really light and all the weight is in the barrel I would recommend it to anyone worth the price BEST BAT EVER

Pros:  The Mako feels more end loaded like the XL1. It virtually feels just like the XL1 but 1 ounce lighter. When my son hit both the Mako and XL1 on the sweet spot, the XL1 flew farther. My recommendation is that if you are strong enough to swing the XL1, get the XL1. If you need your bat a little lighter get the Mako or XL2 or XL3 to save some dough. If you need more swing speed, stick to the S Series.

Cons:  None. Great bat for the person that can't quite swing the XL1 but the S series is too light for.

My son has the 30 inch 19 ounce MAKO. He has used it for about 50 games, and probably 100 rounds of BP since spring. Is there a point where it will lose pop? He loves the bat, and the size will still be appropriate for him next spring (probably more appropriate). Will it still have pop next year?

If the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) is damaged, the drop in performance would be apparent. If the bat has a severe drop in performance, it may be best to send it to the manufacturer to have them check the model for damage and possibly replace it. There are not tests or tell tale signs you will find besides an extreme drop in performance.

My brother is 4 foot tall and weighs 45 pounds. What size Mako should he use?

Based on height and weight, we would recommend a 28 inch size of the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK).

Looking at a Mako or S1 for my 11 year old. Which would you recommend? Why?

Both the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) and the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) are great options. If you want a larger sweet spot, the MAKO would be the better choice. If you want the lighter and more balanced bat, go with the S1.
