Description

This season brings release of the newest DeMarini BBCOR bat, the Versus! The Versus BBCOR has a uniquely shaped barrel to give it the ultimate performance while still meeting BBCOR regulations. This unique shape actually makes the barrel longer and thus increases the sweet spot! Adding to this bat's uniqueness, it is a two-piece fully aluminum design made from DeMarini's patented SC4 Alloy. The alloy used in the barrel goes through a proprietary aluminum extrusion process that provides a thickness-tuned wall that reaches down the length of the barrel. This creates an absolutely wicked sweet spot that is able to stand up to every crushing blow! The SC4 Alloy handle is also thickness-tuned so that every ounce of the player's energy during their swing is transferred to the ball with maximum feel and feedback. This is a truly a bat unlike anything else on the market that's power and feel must be experienced to be believed. As with all DeMarini bats, the Versus is marked with a Rotation Index to remind players to rotate their bat every time up. This creates an even break-in and greatly extends the life of the bat. DeMarini: Insane Dedication to Performance! The Versus is BBCOR Certified and approved for high school and collegiate play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Pros: Big sweet spot, feels very light when swung, and it feels a lot more solid and like a BESR than all the other BBCORS.

Cons: It says the barrel is 2 5/8 but its really 2.5, i have one and measured the barrel myself. Not really a con b/c it has ridiculous pop though.

A Baseball Guy

Pros: This bat has loads of pop and will send the ball flying off the bat. If you hit it wrong you won't feel any sting because the two piece outer shell stops vibrations. The DeMarini Versus is one of the best BBCOR bats on the market.

Cons: This bat is a smidgen top heavy. I love top heavy bats because it makes a lot of weight go at the ball and makes it go further, but this is something people don't like. If you don't want a top heavy bat don't get this one. Otherwise this is a very swell bat.

Pros: Picked this up as a team bat for a summer ball team I help coach. Has some good pop to it and the long sweet spot has helped some of our guys gain some confidence and not be so worried about getting jammed. Solid bat for the money BBallDad coach

Pros: My son likes this bat better than his cf5. He said this bat feels a lot more solid and stiff. He is a line drive hitter so we got him the 32 inch bbcor. The ball comes off the bat nice and has a very nice ping sound.

Cons: none so far. Someone said the cap broke off after hitting it. Don't swing at bad pitches and you should not have that problem.

Pros: This is such a great bat! Since I started using it I've a .645. It has a great pop and a quick swing love the bat!!!

Cons: My only complaint is the grip. I gad the bat for only about three weeks and the grip tape started coming off, that's the only reason I gave it a bad durability rating. But other than that it's a beautiful bat!

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Versus BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVSC? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What's with the weird end cap? Zach
A new design that was designed after Geodesic Dome construction to increase strength.
Kris
would this be a good bat for power hitters, or would the anderson ignite be a better bat for power hitters. bigchuck
Both bats could be used for power hitters, that main difference between the two is that the Versus is going to be a two piece design which will give the bat more flex and the ignite is going to be a one piece, stiffer bat.
Sean
Will you please make a review video? Blane
We will have a revieiw video up on our website within the next two weeks.
Kara
Do they make this bat in a 32.5? I have always used a Vexxum. How does this compare to the Vexxum? Ja-Rod
No, this model does not come in half sizes. The Vexxum is a 2 piece as the Versus is, difference is the Vexxum has a composite handle the Versus has an alloy handle.
lkh
okay two bats same price range, Demarini Versus, or cat 5, which bat is better? looking for a bat with balance and power, something that won't take away from the swing. Ken
Between these two, each has their strong suits. The Versus is a two piece with an extended sweet spot and great pop. The Cat 5 is a one piece with a huge sweetspot, nice balance and great pop.
lkh
Is this bat better then the m2m and is this good for line drive hitters? ice
The M2M is very similar to the Versus, both are 2 piece all alloy bats. Either one would perform well for you.
lkh
Is it top heavy?? I am thinking of getting this or the marucci cat 5, and all the reviews for the cat 5 says its evenly balanced. Matt
I've hit with both and the Versus felt just a tad bit more end-loaded than the Cat 5. It was hardly noticeable though. I would also give the Cat 5 a slight edge in terms of performance, but that's my opinion though.
TJ
Is this good for contact hitters? yanks #1
This would be a good option for a contact hitter.
JH
Isn't this bat white? Pete
If you look on DeMarini's website, it is a white bat. However, Versus we carry is a graphite black limited edition model.
John
how does this bat compare to the voodoo Tricia
Versus is a 2 piece alloy barrel/ alloy handle, the Voodoo is an alloy barrel, composite handle bat.
Linda
Is this bbcor bat better than the Easton surge and the Marucci cat 5? jo
It really is just a personal preference, I like the balanced feel of the Cat 5
John
Is this bat made in the United States? Jim
No, it is not made in the United States.
Linda
Why is the barrel diameter smaller than a Voodoo? boidies
Both BBCOR bats have 2 5/8 inch barrels.
Kara
im 5foot2 113 pounds and 14 is this a good bat for me? otto
Based on your height and weight, a 30 inch 27 ounce bat is recommended. Unfortunately the Versus is not produced in that size. The Easton S3 would be a similar option that is available in that size.
John
does this bat come in diffrent colors like the video? Nate
We only carry the Demarini Versus currently with the white barrel and orange writing. Here is the link to view more details on the DXVSC. http://www.justbats.com/product/demarini-versus-bbcor--dxvsc-adult/14267/
Derek
Is this bat top heavy? Carl
This bat does have a slight end loaded feel. However, you can't really tell much of a difference in this bat vs. a balanced bat in my opinion.
Sam
People say the end cracks easy. Is this true? michael
We have not had any feedback about the DeMarini Versus BBCOR cracking. DeMarini makes top of the line bats, using the highest grade alloy. There is a one year manufacturer's warranty if the bat should crack.
Kara
Will this or the 2012 Vexxum be more balanced? Which one will be more end-loaded? cman99
Both the DeMarini Versus BBCOR and the 2012 Vexxum are end loaded. However, the DeMarini Versus BBCOR will be much stiffer than the 2012 Vexxum.
Kara
How does this compare to the M2M? They are both two-piece bats that are fully alloy. Is there a difference in performance? livin like larry
The DeMarini M2M BBCOR is the newer model and the DeMarini Versus BBCOR is the older model. The M2M is going to use upgraded materials for added performance and durability.
Nick
Is there a reason this bat went down on price so quick and so low? batter
The DeMarini Versus BBCOR is an older model and is on closeout pricing.
Damon
Why is it white in the picture but black in the video? Derreck
Initially, DeMarini released a special edition, black Versus. There were only a few of these black models made and after they sold out, they were replaced by the white bat. The two bats are the exact same, just different colors.
Tyler
Are they going to make a new DeMarini Versus any time soon? Jmay
Unfortunately, DeMarini did not produce a newer model of the Versus for 2013.
Tyler
I'm 15 years old, 5'11", and 161 lbs. What's a good size bat for me? Jmay
For a player of your stature, our system would suggest the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult bat in a length of 32". You could also drop down to a 31" or move up to a 33" if either felt more comfortable.
Robert
So in the video they say to rotate the bat for every certain number of swings, is this necessary? Should I also do this with my vexxum? Jordan
The DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult is a fully aluminum design, so it does not require a break-in. Rotation of the bat is an option and not mandatory. Like the Versus, the Vexxum does not require a break-in.
Frank
I'm 5' 6" and weigh 160 pounds. What size Versus should I get? Ricardo
We would recommend a 32" DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC for a player with your dimensions. For future sizing information, check out our Bat Coach tool: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/.
Mac
If I am 5'2",112 lbs. and 12 years old which size should I get? edog
Based on your height and weight, a 31" 28 oz. model of the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC would be the best size.
Tyler
I have two sons and I am not sure which size bats to get both of them. One son is 5" 10" and weight of 128 lbs. Our other son weight is 212 lbs and is 5' 7 3/4". Antelope Baseball Mom
The DeMarini Versus BBCOR would work well for both son's. The one that is 5' 10" and 128 lbs we suggest a 31" 28 oz. bat, and the son that is 5' 7 3/4" and weighs 212 lbs we suggest a 33" 30 oz. bat.
Chad M.
Is the bat USSSA approved? beau
The DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult is a BBCOR bat, therefore it does not need to be approved by USSSA.
Marcus
My son is 5'0" and 100 lbs. He is more of a contact and line drive hitter, and he is not very strong. Would you recommend a 30" or 31" BBCOR bat for him? Any specific models that would be better than this? Jeff
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 30" BBCOR model. The DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult bat is two-piece design that would be a good option for a contact hitter.
Aubrey
If I'm 14 and 130 lbs. am I still able to use this bat. If the rules apply to -5 and below? John345
The DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC is a BBCOR certified bat and legal for use in all leagues.
Tyler
I'm 5'8 and weigh 160 lbs, what kind of length bat should I use? BigA
For the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult bat and other bats, our Bat Coach suggests a 32" bat. You can go up or down an inch if you feel more comfortable.
Robert
I am 13 and around 110 pounds. What size of this bat should i get? King AJD
We would need to know your height in order to determine the best size. I recommend our Bat Coach, which is a great tool: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Tyler
My boys are 12 and 13. 12 year old is 5'1" and 13 year old is 5'3" they both weight around 105 lbs. What is a good bat for them? mto911
With the height and weight given we suggest a 29" 26 oz. bat for your boys. The DeMarini Versus BBCOR is only in stock in the 31" 28 oz. size. I am a little concerned that it will be too big for them.`
Chad M.
I'm 14, 5' 3" and 105 lbs. What size bat do you suggest I get? nate
We recommend the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult in a 31" 28 oz. based on your size and age.
Katie
I'm 13, 5'7" and 150 pounds. What size bat do you suggest? matt
Based on your size, a 32" model of the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC is recommended.
Tyler
I'm 5' 4", 140 lbs, a very strong hitter that can hit for contact or power, and I have very high bat speed. What size bat would you recommend for me since I'm moving up to middle school ball next year? batbreaker83
I suggest getting the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult in a 32" 29 oz.
Noah
I'm 5'5" and 120 lbs and 14 yrs old. Which bat dimension should I get? matt
With the height and weight given we suggest a 30" 27 oz. bat. Since the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult is a older model and most sizes are sold out I think the 32" 29 oz. would be too heavy.
Chad M.
I'm 5'10" 140 lbs. What length and weight would you recommend? Evan
With the height and weight given we suggest that you get the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult in the 32" 29 oz. size.
Chad M.
I am 5' 8" and 125 lbs. What length and weight should I get? Mike
You should get the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult in a 32" 29 oz. bat.

Katie
I am 14 years old and I am about 5'3" and weigh about 150 lbs. with average bat speed. I can hit for both contact and power. What size of bat would you recommend? Ducktape4

I am 6'2" 220 pounds and looking for a bat with a lot of pop. Suggestions? Also, what length should I be using? rock
At your height and weight a 34" bat length is recommended in the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult bat. Some other good bats the would suit you would be the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo, or the 2013 Easton XL-Series.
Brandon
I am 15 years old, 5'8"-5'10" weigh around 140-150 lbs. and a contact hitter what bat and bat size should I use? D_medi1764
The DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult bat could be a good choice for you at your size. A 32" bat length is recommended for your height and weight. Another good DeMarini to check out would be the 2014 Vexxum NVS. It will be a super balanced two-piece design. Both would be great bats.
Brandon
Does this bat fit a good power hitter? adam
The DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult is a stiff bat that is slightly end loaded. It would be a great fit for a power hitter.
Kara
I Just ordered a 33 inch bat and I am a power hitter, 5' 7", and 144 pounds. Is a 33 inch too long? ET
The 33" DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC Adult should be just fine for you, based off of your height and weight.

My son is 16 yrs old. He is 60" & 180 lbs. and strong as an ox. He needs a bat to help increase his bat speed. The reviews say it's end loaded. Will this bat do what we want? braiderjim
The DeMarini Versus BBCOR (DXVSC) is slightly end loaded, and designed for a player with quick bat speed. We recommend the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR (DXVXC). It is a very balanced bat that will help with his swing speed.
Kara

The DeMarini Versus BBCOR (DXVSC Adult) is slightly end loaded and made for players who already have good bat speed. The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR (DXVXC) would be a great model for contact hitters looking to increase their bat speed.

My son is 5'11 and 180lbs. He used to swing the Demarini Vendetta, but that has been discontinued. How does the Versus compare? Is it the same bat with a different name? Nolan
The DeMarini Vendetta was discontinued as it was no longer legal under the new BBCOR certification, and as such the Versus might not have as much pop as the Vendetta, due to the new BBCOR certification bringing bats down a tick than the old BESR certification. However, the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: DXVSC is a similar feeling bat to the Vendetta, as both have large sweet spots and fairly balanced swing weights.
Kyle J.
Would you recommend this Versus, Vexxum, or an M2M for a solid hitter? Jeff
The DeMarini Versus BBCOR (DXVSC) is a solid model. I am a bigger fan of the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR. The Vexxum will feel more balanced, and help create faster bat speeds.
Brandon
I already have the 2012 Vexxum, and I am a power hitter. I would like to know if you would recommend the Marucci Team bat or the DeMarini Versus? jones
As a power hitter, I would probably suggest taking a closer look at the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: (DXVSC) the two-piece alloy design will provide you with some pretty good pop. This model will also have an extended sweet spot on the barrel and will make it pretty easy to generate some good pace.
Merritt
Is this a better bat than the Easton MAKO? Tanner
The DeMarini Versus BBCOR (DXVSC) features an aluminum handle and barrel. It is very high performing. The Easton MAKO features higher quality composite material, a larger sweet spot, and a more balanced swing.

I'm 5'6"-5'7" and 170 lbs. What size bat should I swing? clay trammel
The only size in the DeMarini Versus BBCOR (DXVSC) we have available is the 33" 30 oz. At your size, a 31" 28 oz. or a 32" 29 oz. would be the best recommended sizes. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid BBCOR (BBRD14-RR) would be a good choice at those sizes.
Brandon
Is this a good bat for contact hitters? Jackie
The two-piece design of the DeMarini Versus BBCOR: (DXVSC) will provide a little bit more flex, and typically this characteristic is preferred by contact hitters. Therefore, yes, I would say this model would work well for your game.
Merritt

The DeMarini Versus BBCOR (DXVSC) is actually a very unique bat. It is one of very few bats that are two piece aluminum designs. The DeMarini M2M is the most similar model to the Versus.

The DeMarini Versus BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVSC) is more end-loaded than the DeMarini M2M BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXM2C). The sweet spot on the M2M would also be a bit larger because the barrel diameter on the Versus is a bit smaller.

Would this bat be better than a Marucci Black? I hit strong but want a balanced bat. I can hit contact, but I also hit for power. baseball guru
I would probably suggest the 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat: (MCBB14) based on your combination playing style. This model is an excellent choice for a contact hitter due to its balanced weight distribution and two-piece structure. However, the AZ3000 Alloy will provide you with added power instantaneously. Joe
What is the proper way to use the DeMarini rotational index to evenly break-in a bat? I see it mentioned but not explained how to properly use it. (Rotation index) bin-ballin
The rotational index on the DeMarini Versus BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVSC) will be a numerical ring around the top of the barrel. This numerical ring is intended to help players be aware of what side of the bat they are hitting with, and avoid wearing out a single-side of the bat. Additionally, all composite bats will require a break in period of 100-120 swings off of a tee or soft toss. The bat should be rotated about 1/4" or to the next point in the rotational index every twenty swings or so.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
