Great bat but first one had durability issues Coach D coach

Pros: My 12 year old was in a slump. He plays travel ball in the Midwest. I thought I would try and get him a slightly larger bat (31-21) and something that feels different than the Easton S3 he had been using. We broke the bat in doing soft toss. Probably gave it between 300-400 hits. Everything good. He took it to practice and just killed the ball. Played a 5 game tournament over the weekend and he went 7 for 11. He absolutely loved it. Hit the ball harder than he had all year. Bounced one to the fence at 240 feet. Not bad for a 5'4" 115 pound contact hitter. A couple days later I took him out to the cage and on about the fifth swing it sounded funny. Took a look and a diamond shaped crack just south of the center of the sweet spot. Well, I have done business with Just Bats for the last 4 years and they have always been great. I went ahead and ordered another G3. I'm hoping the first one was defective and it was a fluke. I hope this one holds up.

Cons: Durability issue with first bat. I hate to be the first one to post here and be negative about this bat. Like I stated above it is a great bat as long as it will hold up. Will comment again in a few weeks on the second one.

Follow up to first post Coach D coach

Pros: Unfortunately, I didn't have to wait two weeks to re-post about the G3. The new G3 I purchased after the first one cracked.......... cracked in the 4th inning of the first game it was used in. There is a sure fire design problem. Bat should really not be offered for sale.

Cons: Durability issues. Bat cracks way too easily. Very disappointed with it. Stay away unless you want to deal with the headache. That's two G3's that have cracked in one week with very limited use. Can't give it 3 stars anymore.

My son loves this bat! Jeremy Huntsinger coach

Pros: My son is a contact hitter. We're 400 hits in and still going strong. His confidence has soared. The weight is distributed very well throughout the bat. His bat speed has increased dramatically from the end loaded DeMarini Vexxum that is a half ounce lighter than this bat, with the same barrel diameter. He is hitting the ball much further and it's easier for him to control the bat to the ball. The sweet spot is huge on this bat. The ball jumps off the bat almost anywhere on the barrel. Hopefully we have no issues with durability. I have and will continue to recommend this bat to others.

Cons: None so far. We'll see how durable this bat is. I'm keeping a hit count to accurately gauge the break in and durability. I will update problems or not.

Poor design at parent

Pros: Great pop right out of wrapper, received this bat as a warranty for 2014 model which cracked after 3 months. my son plays 9u major and was hitting ball solid ith each swing.

Cons: I will never buy another combat product again as this bat lasted one week before it cracked, I would not recommend anyone to waste there money on a poor quality product that has not proven to be a quality product.

Garbage Gulf Coast Dad parent

Pros: Bat had decent pop out of the wrapper.

Cons: My son is 9 years old and this bat was sent to us as a replacement for the broken Portent we had purchased. I pitch to him in our batting cage, not a machine pitching cage. 3 sessions the bat is busted. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY$

Cons: My first combat bat cracked and this was the replacement. It cracked after about 1 month. I will never purchase another combat. My son is 9 and only 60 pounds and already cracked 2 bats. Very poor quality.

Pros: We got this as a replacement and my boys were driving balls waaay out! No vibration like the last bat. Been great as we are on off season practicing.

Cons: Don't like that Combat engraved NO WARRANTY on the bat. Other than that no cons!

Pros: Combats customer service has been excellent!!!

Cons: OK now the bad. This was a warranty replacement bat that has no warranty stamped on it. It lasted maybe 150 swings in an indoor heated batting cage and it totally busted apart. I'm a Combat fan but this is very disappointing. I can no longer use Combat bats because of the durability. My son is 5'0 95lbs. not a power hitter just a contact hitter and he has cracked 2 of the Portent bats. This bat the Portent G3 started to splinter really bad it actually is a dangerous bat. Please stay away from this bat. I did want to add that Combats customer support has been beyond excellent in this matter. I called them on the "No Warranty" bat breaking only 4 weeks after they sent it to me and they told me to send it to them and they would replace it. I have my fingers crossed that the third time is a charm but I have my doubts.

Pros: Bought this bat for my son and got a great deal! This bat was super hot out the wrapper and has a massive sweet spot. I love the fact it comes with a year warranty and features the lizard skin grip. This bat is great!

A BUST!!! Mindymom parent

Pros: Great out of the wrapper for just soft toss!! Bat looks great feels good but....... its a BUST. Don't waste your money!

Cons: Son just starting Spring Season and had his first scrimmage and bat cracked!!! Kid just pitching to him about 50 mph. Now to send it back but not sure if they are going to replace AGAIN after this was our replacement for the first bat. Now lets see if we get a bat #3!

Pros: They have great customer service and combat bats are sold at our facility because we thought they would be great bats.

Cons: I received this bat as a warranty issue bat and lasted about 2 months and cracked. So we have been through 2 bats in about 6 months.

Great Bat all around Matt coach

Pros: My son is 8 and has used the 26/16 and 27/17 for the past season and a half of travel coach pitch .The ball jumps off this bat faster than any other bat we have used and we have had a bunch . I have not had any issues with the bats breaking or even feel close . Im 210 lb man and took hacks with theses breaking them in for my son and have not had any issues with durability.

Is this bat legal for Babe Ruth (13-15) baseball? Bball legacy

The 2015 COMBAT Portent G3 (PG3SL210) would not be legal for that age division of Babe Ruth baseball. The rules for that age indicate that the barrel cannot be bigger than 2 5/8 inches in diameter and if it is a composite barrel like the G3 it must be BBCOR certified. The model of that bat that would be legal would be the 2015 COMBAT Portent G3 BBCOR (PG3AB103) but it would be much heavier.

The 2015 COMBAT Portent G3 Senior League Baseball Bat w/ Lizard Skin Grip (PG3SL210) is a one piece fully composite bat that will require a break in period. The feel of this bat will be unlike any Easton model. As far as durability goes, both companies make pretty durable bats. If this bat does break, it is covered under COMBAT's 12 month manufacturer's warranty.
