Description
New baseball bats for the season! For the second year running, Louisville Slugger has created a one-piece, all alloy, hybrid bat: the Solo. This season's model, the Solo 618, may be known as a single-piece construction, but due to the new and improved Speed Ballistic Composite End Cap, Louisville Slugger has deemed it a hybrid design. The enhanced end cap, combined with Slugger's SL Hyper aluminum material, delivers increased swing speed, better overall control through the zone, and the most balanced swing weight score (1.1) in the Lineup. As the fastest swinging baseball bat Louisville Slugger has ever manufactured, this model is an excellent choice for players looking to ensure fastballs no longer phase them. Not only does the SL Hyper Alloy provide an increase in swing speed, but it ensures a stiff, traditional feel on contact with maximum energy transfer for further ball flight and more base hits. Not to mention, Louisville Slugger has applied a brand new vibration dampening handle design that helps reduce sting in the hands on mishits so that negative vibration is a thing of the past. The best part? A custom Lizard Skins baseball bat grip comes pre-wrapped around the standard handle for premium comfort and a better overall feel. Louisville Slugger: Hit For Power, Average, & Pride!
This Louisville Slugger Solo 618 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTLSLS618X10) features a huge 2 3/4-inch barrel diameter, a drop 10 length to weight ratio, and the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification. Pros: This bat has a bunch of pop. This bat is true to its weight unlike the CF ZEN. No vibration . It also looks cool. It comes with lizard skins on it. It has a nice ping to it as well . I would recommend this bat to anyone!
Cons: Nothing yet
Pros: well balanced with no sting technology. Hypo alloy with composite cap makes the price more, but well worth it! The pop on this bat is similar to the CF Zen, but the weight is spot on. The pop on this bat is encredible. if you want a bat that is similar to the Zen with the wieght less and more balanced than look no further. The pop on this badboy is encredibile. Hypo Alloy with no sting on foul tips. This bat rocks.
Cons: none so far
Pros: true weight
Cons: none yet
Pros: My son is 9 years old and we bought him a 29/19. I can not compare to the CF Zen, but we have owned both the 2017 -9 Voodoo 2 5/8 and -10 Voodoo 2 3/4, and this bat has more pop than both. Very well balanced and Very powerful. Swing weight is much lighter than both of the Voodoo's. This bat is very consistent and we are very pleased with it. If you are looking for a one piece alloy bat, this is a must try. Ball fly's off bat. Even when not hit in the sweet spot, it produces a pretty good hit. A lot of feedback in the bat. No vibration issues. Awesome grip.
Cons: Sweet spot is probably about half the size of the Voodoo, however very powerful when hit in the sweet spot.
Pros: Son really loves this bat so far. He loves the look and feel and so do I. The pop that this bat makes sounds like it's composite, most be the hyper alloy. It's very balanced and he has hit some foul tips and no stinging! We both like that:) Even though it's not USA approved for 2018 it does not matter to us because we play USSSA and AYL and others that only require the 1.15 BPF.
Cons: None yet
Pros: My 11u travel ball son is loving this bat. The sound is amazing and the pop is like no other bat he has tried this year. Several of his teammates have ditched their bats and are using his. The best part is it is extremely balanced and true to its weight.
Cons: It has a little more vibration/sting on off center hits due to the fact that it's aluminum and one piece.
Pros: Great feel, very well balanced. No sting or vibration on miss hit balls. Great pop!!!
Cons: None as of yet. Tried it at a demo day and just ordered. Durability unknown.
Pros: Handle to Barrel balance is amazing Hot out of the wrapper Son loves the feel of the bat
Cons: So far none
Pros: My boy is 60 inches and 96 lbs and has a hitting velocity of the tee at 65 mph. The Solo 618 has true balance and weight. 618 has Excellent pop and energy when the ball leaves the bat. Off 9U Major pitching at 55+ mph, my boy hits it over 225-250 ft with ease. Yes 8 yrs old.
Cons: Nope...
Pros: good pop, tested a little less than his broken in composites, but better than the non broken in ones will use in cold weather, and until composites are broken in
Cons: swings a little heavier than expected.
Pros: pop and no break in swings needed.
Cons: doesnt come in a 27 thats legal for Usssa
Pros: ball flies off the bat! Both my son's have one, they also have the Zen and the Prime 918, and this definitely out performs both. On my 10 year old's team, there have been 7 kids switch from Zen's to the Solo. i have bought a few in bigger sizes, just so we can have this bat in the future.
Cons: vibrates the hands when you hit the ball wrong, but thats all one piece bats.
Pros: My 11u son says the bat has a great feel when he hits with it. He loves the weight (says it's balanced well) and is able to turn on inside pitches without any problems. I was concerned about moving up to the bigger barrel but it doesn't seem to have any negative impact on his hitting.
Cons: I have found nothing to complain about with this bat so far.
Pros: Bat is well balenced swings light has a ton of pop. My son thinks has more pop then CF8. The bat is true to weight and is great price point vs. previous "hot bats" in last couple season releases we also have the marruci hex2 and like it as well. Better get the while you can cause they are geeting hard to find and not alot of main stream hype about this bat
Cons: hard to find in 29 or 28 -10
Pros: Went from a 28" 518 to a 29" 618 with no regrets. True weight, swings lighter than any other 29" drop 10. Great pop. Backed by Louisville warranty if it dents in first year.
Cons: Pricey, but the best bat bought since the last Louisville Slugger 518.
Pros: super hot!!! ball flies off bat. 10u son hitting homeruns great bat
Cons: none
Pros: hottest bat out right now . the distsnce that the ball comes off bat is amazing.
Cons: none so far
Pros: im 10 and hitting the ball far with this bat 230ft homerun first at bat
Cons: na
Pros: this bat reminds me of the z2k bat if anybody remembers that was the hottest alloy ever.
Cons: no
Pros: 11u travel player hitting homers for the first season ever amazing pop on this bat. best money ever spent
Cons: nothing
Pros: this bat is unreal incredible distance pop!!! out performs every other bat on our team.
Cons: hard to find will have to buy in bigger sizes before i cant find them
Pros: my 10u son loves the new solo more pop than his neon green cf8 2 3/4. amazing pop a must own bat.
Cons: everyone on team is using it.
Pros: Good pop, no vibration, great sound, very balanced and looks great! My son says it feels great and gives him a lot of confidence at the plate.
Cons: None yet. Not 100% certain of durability at this point, but absolutely no problems so far.
Pros: Tons of pop off this bat. Great feel and well balanced.
Cons: We live in Michigan and are forced to play in the cold. the vibration in sub 40 degree weather is almost unbearable for my son. He needed to use a different bat in cold conditions. In temps above 55 its a great bat.
Pros: Finally an amazing all around Bat! Extremely balanced and tons of POP and no vibration!!!
Cons: none
Pros: well balanced, great pop
Cons: The bat dented in the sweet spot on the first day we hit with it. My son has a good swing but he is only a 4' 7", 82 lb 11yr old! I think the alloy is thinner, hence the lighter, more balanced feel. durability os an issue.
Pros: My 9 year old loves it, bought him the 30/19. Hits it just as far as he does with his Mako. Love the looks and balance.
Cons: None yet
Pros: Great pop. Good bat for strong kids.
Cons: none
Pros: Very balanced with pop, wish we had two of these
Cons: multiple players want to use this bat hard to find in the 29/10
Pros: Bat has a balanced light swing like described, but also the pop of a heavier bat.
Cons: its hard to find and most sizes are sold out.

About the Brand
In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.
After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.
The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.
The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.
Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
