Big Boost in confidence Kevin parent

Pros: Good pop out of box. My daughter was making good contact with a cheap Easton bat that she had used for two years. I noticed that she was making solid contact but the ball was not hopping off of the bat. She is 13 yeas old and is 5'8" about 120 lbs. I believed that she should be hitting the ball harder and farther. I purchased the Xeno in hopes that she would get more pop. I'm glad that I did. She is consistently hitting the ball into the deep outfield. I know that the extra pop has helped, but I have coached for more than 20 years and do not attribute success to the bat. I do believe that having the Xeno has been a big confidence booster. I have recommended the Xeno to the parents of her team-mates and will purchase on for my younger daughter when she is older.

Cons: expensive

Which is better with the most pop for power hitters the LXT Hyper or the Xeno Plus? father N softball player
Both the 2017 Louisville Slugger LXT Hyper Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX171 and the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN179 are going to be great bats. The LXT is going to offer a 3 piece, fully composite design. The XENO is going to be a two piece fully composite bat. The LXT design helps with vibrations a little bit more than the XENO but both are very high performing bats and are going to offer lots of pop.

Any changes from last year's model? Travis
The two changes that were made to the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN179, when compared to the 2016 model of the same bat, were the paint scheme and the iST Xs technology was added to allow for a stiffer connection for more power transferred into the ball.

Looking at the FPLX171 and the FPXN179. I know one is a 2-piece and the other is 3-piece. My daughter will be 16 soon. She has been using a 2015 LXT 33"/23 oz and really likes it. Also enjoys the FPXN179. She is 5'5" and weighs 135 lbs. Pretty sure she is done growing. What should she get? Billy
This 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN179) is a two-piece bat and has a -9 length-to-weight ratio. The FPLX171 will be a three-piece bat and has a -11 length-to-weight ratio (three piece design limits more vibration and allows more flex at contact). Based upon your player's height and weight, my general recommendation would be to get a fastpitch bat in the 32" or 33" length. For most high school players, it seems that the bats with a -10 length to weight ratio are extremely popular, I might recommend viewing both the 2017 XENO (FPXN170) and the 2017 LXT Hyper (FPLX170). Both of those mentioned mitts have a -10 length-to-weight ratio.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
