Pros: Easton got it right with this bat. Good price, no break in. Great balanced bat. One piece is the way to go. All the college players are using one piece bats now. Don't waste your money on more expensive composite bats that are temperature sensitive and take time to break in. The ball flys of this bat. Great large barrel. Best Easton bat made

Pros: Light weight bat with big sweet spot. I really square up balls better and hit much better using this bat. The snakeskin grip is alright, not great but very durable. I am very satisfied with this bat!

Cons: If you get jammed, your going to feel it as it as a one piece bat.

Pros: I haven't ever seen a BBCOR bat perform this well in cold weather. Thru 7 cold IL. H.S. games this bat has helped me get 7 extra base hits, inluding a HR that cleared the fence by 50 ft. If you're a power hitter, this is the most end-loaded bat out there. I can't wait to see what happens in warmer weather.

Cons: I like the grip, but it seems to be wearing. May need a lizard grip soon.

Pros: The bat feels amazing! It feels very light. In my first three games with this bat i hit 3 doubles in 7 at bats!

The 2017 Easton Z-CORE Speed BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17ZS is going to be very similar to the 2016 model. Easton did maximize the bat by creating a longer barrel and lowering the swing weight on the 2017 model.

This bat would feature the second lowest swing weight index in BBCOR power brigade. Most BBCOR bats will feel the same as far as weight, so I would recommend looking for a balanced bat so that it feels slightly lighter. This would have a good lightweight feel.

It would be hard for me to say that either of these models really had a subsrantial barrel length advantage over the other, but when putting this 2017 Easton Z-CORE Speed BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17ZS) next to the 2017 VELO, I would say that this Z-Core Spped bat looks to have a 2 5/8" barrel thickness that extends further down the bat from the end cap (when comparing it to the 2017 VELO).

It wasn't a cheaper model, it just had the rotating Torq handle, whereas the 2017 Easton Z-CORE Speed BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17ZS has the traditional handle.

The Easton Z-Core Speed (BB17ZS) is a very well balanced bat design for contact hitters. It is not assigned a "Swing Weight Number" though, as there is no one set standard measurement for swing weight. Some manufacturers have their own scale/rating system for the swing weights on their bats, but they do not apply universally to all models.
