Description

The latest and greatest members of the Power Brigade are here and ready to be unleashed.

The Easton MAKO BEAST is the newest version of one of the most popular baseball bats in the industry and it now has the biggest and most powerful composite barrel that Easton has ever made. By extending and combining the game's longest two-piece composite barrel with the game's fastest swing speed, this bat is an absolute BEAST that offers the lowest swing weight index out of the entire Easton lineup. A low swing weight index results in an evenly balanced model that delivers power through fast swing speeds. Easton's redesigned TCT Thermo Composite technology now provides an extended speed barrel design. So, the BEAST's barrel is longer than ever for more plate coverage and a huge sweet spot. This extended barrel is connected to 29/32 inch composite handle by the patented two-piece ConneXion technology that maximizes energy transfer while eliminating sting for optimized feel and comfort. Adding to the comfort is the fact that each MAKO BEAST comes wrapped with the formidable HYPERSKIN grip and it is backed by a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty. Easton: Unleash The Beast!

This Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B features a -10 length to weight ratio, a 2 3/4 inch barrel diameter, and the USSSA 1.15 BPF Certification. Buy your MAKO BEAST with the bigger, badder barrel today with free shipping!

Excellent bat James parent

Pros: This bat not only looks great, but the ball flies off the bat with solid contact. My 12 year old in travel ball absolutely loves this bat. No hand sting, he is hitting well over the fence. Of the three bats he got this year, this one hits the furthest by about 15-20' average.

Cons: Can not comment on durability reliably. So far he has about 400 hits with this bat with live pitching. It is doing fine but the ball leaves obvious marks against the black finish. It will not affect the performance.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Does this bat require a break-in period or is it hot out of the wrapper ? If a break-in period is required, what do you recommend? RCA
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B is pretty hot out of the wrapper. However, we feel that it will still benefit from a short break-in period of about 50-100 swings. It is best to take these swings off a tee. You will want to rotate the barrel about a quarter turn every few swings and gradually work your swing speed up from about 50%.
Jason
What is new with this 2017 model compared to last year's. Any major changes? dave
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B will feature a lower MOI for faster swing speeds. It will still feature the same TCT Thermo Composite and ConneXion connection technology as the 2016.
Sean
Do they make this bat with a TORQ handle in a 28"/18 oz size? CoachWood
If you would like this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10B) in the TORQ style, then the closest bat to meet your needs will be the 2016 Easton MAKO TORQ Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16MKT10B). That bat has the same 2 3/4" barrel and TCT Thermo composite material, but also features the TORQ handle. (For 2017, Easton is ceasing the use of the TORQ handle in the production of any of their bats)
Ben
My son is 9 and plays 10U. He is 4'7" 75 lbs. Fast hands but average strength. Would you recommend this bat over the Combat SL7MX210? What size would you recommend for either? Tanner
Both the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B and the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210 are great bats. They both have a low swing weight and an extremely balanced feel. The MAKO BEAST is a two-piece composite and the Combat is a one-piece composite. I would recommend a 29" length based on your son's height and weight.
Linsey
What is the difference between the Mako Beast and the Mako Beast Hyper lite other than the drop? Why is the Hyperlite less expensive? Jen
Other than the drop weight, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B is a two-piece composite bat, while the Hyperlite is a one-piece composite bat.
Logan
My son is 11 yrs old, 4'10" and about 90 lbs. He is a good LH hitter with bat exit speed in the 60-65 range. He used the DeMarini CF -10 (2 3/4" barrel) bat last year. We are debating between the MAKO Beast SL17MK10B -10 and the DeMarini Zen -10 version for this year (2 3/4" inch barrel). Which do you think would be better? I have heard there are durability issues with the Zen, but we did not have any last year with the CF. Let me know. Greg
Both the MAKO BEAST and the DeMarini CF Zen models would be excellent bats to consider. The CF Zen will more than likely feel more balanced as they do not typically weigh as much as the MAKO BEAST bats when comparing the same length and weight of bat. As for the durability issues, the 2 3/4" bats in general are more likely to experience durability issues at a quicker rate due to the thinner barrel walls. With players who are 11-12, these issues can be experienced sooner due to the player being able to generate bat speed measures outside of what the bat is tested against. With younger players and those that do not generate the higher bat speed results the likelihood of the bat experiencing durability at a quicker rate go down.
Cameron
My son is 10 weighs 65 lbs. What size bat do you recommend? tony
We would need to know his height as well as his weight to give an exact recommendation but if I had to guess I would guess he would either need a 27" or 28" 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10B).
Carter
How should I determine whether a 2 5/8 -8 or a 2 3/4 -10 would be better for my son? Brandon
2 3/4" barrels are generally designed for coach pitch, machine pitch, and lower velocities below about 50 mph. Higher than that and they can have higher risk of durability issues than 2 5/8" models. If you think your son will be facing pitchers who throw around or above that threshold, I would recommend a 2 5/8" model.
Kyle J.
My son is 8 yrs old, 54" and weighs 70 lbs. What size bat should he use? CAM
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B in a 29 inch 19 ounce model.
Cameron
My son is about 48" tall and weighs about 50 lbs. He is already swinging a 27" Easton S500 (-9) 18 oz. Which size and weight do you recommend? Also which bat is better: Easton Mako Beast or the DeMarini CF Zen? Joe
Based on his height and weight, we would suggest the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B in a 29" 19oz size. Both the MAKO and the CF Zen are going to perform relatively the same, it just comes down to player preference as far as brand goes.
Logan
My 11 year old son is 55" tall and weighs 75 lbs. What size bat would you recommend, including barrel size? He sees above average pitching often as he plays AAU. Johnny
We would recommend getting the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B in a 29''. The barrel size will depend on what his league allows and we always recommend asking, but most 11 year old players use a 2 5/8'' barrel.
Tori
What's the biggest difference between this and the Beast XL? Does the Beast XL come in a 28" 18 oz? rich
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B is a balanced bat. The Beast XL has an end loaded swing weight.
Tori
Will this bat be legal to use in Little League for 2018? Rob
Unfortunately, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B does not feature the USA Baseball certification and it will not be legal in 2018 for Little League.
Jason
Are the Sl17MK10 and SL17MK10B the same bat, just the first is 2 and 5/8 and the 2nd is 2 and 3/4? Cheese
Yes, that is correct. This one, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10B) is the bat with a 2 3/4" barrel.
Carter
If I buy this bat now, will it be eligible to meet the new Little League 2018 standards? lisa
Unfortunately, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B will not meet the new standards for 2018. Bats meeting those requirements will be available in September of this year.
Logan
Can my 9 year old son use this bat in club ball, USSSA for fall 2017 and spring 2018? Is it legal indefinitely for those leagues? coach
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B would only be legal moving forward in 2018 for USSSA sanctioned games. This bat can certainly still be used in the fall of 2017. For Pony, Dixie, Little League, Babe Ruth, Cal Ripken, etc these leagues in 2018 will require all bats to feature the new USABat stamp.
Cameron
2017 Easton MAKO BEAST (SL17MK10B) versus the 2016 Easton MAKO TORQ (SL16MKT10B) - - other than the obvious spinning handle on the Torq, are there any other appreciable differences? NOLA
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B and the 2016 Easton MAKO TORQ are made of the same material with the same design, the only difference being the rotating handle.
Logan
Would this bat be a good bat for my 11 year old? Shannon Brodie
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B is very popular at that age, and should work well for your player as long as big barrel bats are legal for play in your league or tournaments.
Logan
Does the BEAST meet the new 2018 bat rules for Cal Ripken? Corey
This 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10B) does not feature USA Bat certification and would not be allowed for use in Cal Ripken baseball once 2018 arrives.
Ben
My son wants this bat, but the guy at Dicks Sporting Goods informed him that there is a recall on it (or will be a recall). I don't want to spend the money if he can't use it. Is there a recall on this bat? Isabel
I believe that the worker at Dicks was probably cautioning the purchase of this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10B) because there will be some leagues that are changing to the USABat certification for the 2018 season. Those leagues are Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony and AABC. However, if you guys are playing under USSSA or AAU rules; use of this bat would be just fine. I would recommend asking a coach or league official if your league rules will change in 2018 and then making a decision on the purchase after getting that info.
Ben
Will a 2 3/4" bat be legal for 2018 Senior Division of LL? (13 - 15 YEAR OLDS) Mac
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B will not be legal in Little League. Little League requires a USA stamp bat and there are no 2 3/4" USA stamp bats.
Carter
What is the difference between the SL17MK10B and SL17MKT10B. Both are Mako Beasts? kjl
The two models are the same bats other than the handles. The SL17MK10B features a traditional handle. While the SL17MKT10B features the Torq handle. The bottom portion of the handle rotates 360 degrees. A players hands naturally twist when you a swing a bat, so this allows for that to freely happen. The idea is to help a player get the bat into the zone quicker with less resistance from the hands twisting and then can keep the barrel of the bat in the hitting zone longer to hopefully square up more pitches.
Jason
Will this bat be legal for Minors little league 2018? Rox
Most little league's are under the USA ruling, making the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B illegal.
Max
I'm looking for this exact same bat in a drop 12. Do you know if that exists? Slambano
Easton did not make the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B in a similar -12 model. Their -12 bat was the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST HYPERLITE -12 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK12B. This bat is a one-piece fully composite with the same balanced swing weight. It too features the same TCT composite.
Cameron
Bought the Hyperlite earlier this year. It was my son's first year playing travel and we needed something lighter. Now he is swinging the Hyperlite (28"/16 oz size) and now he is way out in front of the ball. He is 4'5" and weighs 80 lbs. Looking at this and the CF Zen. Which is better for a power swing? stokey
Neither this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10B) or the 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTDXCBZ) will have an inherent advantage over the other bat in regard to being more of a "power bat". Both bats have a 2 3/4" barrel, balanced feel, -10 length-to-weight ratio and all-composite build. As well, both bats get solid ratings from customers. Based on your player's height and weight, I would recommend looking to a 28"/18 oz size or 29"/19 oz size of bat.
Ben
Is this a big barrel? gabriel
Yes, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B would be considered a big barrel bat with a 2 3/4" barrel.
Carter
Is there a max speed this bat can take? Gabriel
For this bat, I would not really be able to pinpoint an exact pitch speed that this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10B) would not be able to withstand, however, I typically see that these bats break-down pretty easily if being used by players aged 12 and over.
Ben
My 9 year old son is relatively small at about 50" tall and 55 lbs. Looking at the Easton Mako Beast -10, Easton Ghost Hyperlite -12 or Rawlings Velo -12. Are these appropriate bats/sizes and what are the major differences? TP
We would probably recommend a 28" or 29" length for his height and weight. Any of these bat options would be a good choice, as they are all well balanced models designed to help with bat speed. As for weight, -10 or -12 would work, and would mostly depend on player preference and what you think he could handle.
Kyle J.
Does anyone know if this bat can be used for softball? kennedy smith
This 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10B) will not meet the specs required for slow or fastpitch softball play. It would not be allowed for either style of softball play.
Ben
Do you have a MAKO BEAST 2017 or 2018 drop 5, 31 inch? b
The Easton Ghost is the newest version of the Mako. We do have that in a 31"/26 ounce in the 2018 Easton Ghost X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GX5.
Carter
Is this bat stamped with the new rule USABat standard? Abe
No. The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10B) is USSSA BPF 1.15 certified.
Damon
Is this a big barrel bat, and would it be legal to use in Babe Ruth league? slyler
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B features a 2 3/4" barrel diameter, and is USSSA certified, so it is not legal for play in Babe Ruth baseball. For Babe Ruth (13-15 year olds), players are required to swing either BBCOR or USA approved bats.
Logan
Do you have this bat in a 30"/20 oz? Thanks! Eli
No, we are out of stock in that size and will not be receiving any more shipments of this model from Easton.
Kyle J.
What does "senior league" mean? matt
Senior league is synonymous with "youth big barrel." The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B is an ideal fit typically for players between the ages of 10-12 that can use the USSSA/1.15 BPF stamped bats.
Cameron
Does this bat come with a warranty? NoPa
Yes, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B comes with a 12 month manufacturer's warranty.
Tori
Is the 2017 MAKO BEAST heavier than the listed weight on the bat, if so, by how much? Elzie
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B will weigh more than the listed weight. Unfortunately we do not have this bat available to weigh but the likelihood is it would be around 1.5 ounces more than the listed weight.
Cameron
Hi. My son is 5 feet and 125lbs. He is a solid hitter. What size bat would you recommend in this model? Burnabypiloteer
With the size specs listed, we would recommend the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B in either 30 or 31 inch. The 31" option will allow for growth of the player.
Daveron
I am debating whether to get this bat or the new 2019 Ghost X Evolution (same size). Our league allows both. Which has more pop? RL
With the 2019 Ghost X Evolution being such a new model, we don't have much information about its performance yet. That being said, I think the pop should be fairly similar between both models. Easton tries to get all their bats to perform at the highest level allowed by the USSSA standards.
Kyle J.
I was inspecting my bat and I noticed under the CXN band there was a chunk of the metal missing, and the CXN band no longer has glue to hold in place. Is this covered in warranty or bad for the bat? Davis
If you are seeing an issue with the connection point on the Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B it could potentially be covered under Easton's warranty policy; Easton offers a 12 month warranty from the date of purchase from an authorized retailer. Warranties for an Easton product can be set up by visiting Easton and filling out their warranty return form.
Cameron
Does this bat require batteries? If so do they come with the bat? Patrick Jaskolski
This Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10B) will not require batteries for use. There are not currently any bats that require batteries for proper use.
Ben
Do you have this in a 31"? Kasey niskanen
No, we do not have the Easton MAKO BEAST (SL17MK10B) in anything other than a 28" at this time.
