Description

New for The latest and greatest members of the Power Brigade are here and ready to be unleashed.

For elite composite performance in the Junior Big Barrel category, look no further than the Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B. This model is specifically engineered for the younger hitter who is still developing their mechanics, and its design is slightly different than the other categories of MAKO. For maximum control of the huge 2 3/4 inch barrel during the swing, Easton made this model a bit more rigid with its one-piece composite construction and extended barrel design. That strong foundation is crafted from the tried and tested IMX Advanced Composite material, so you know this baseball bat is ultra-light, balanced, and features a very responsive hitting surface. Being a Junior Big Barrel design, the barrel walls are extremely thin for maximum trampoline effect, and it's recommended for players ages 8 and under (for the longest useful life possible). Easton: Unleash the Beast!

The Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B features a 2 3/4 inch barrel diameter, a -12 length to weight ratio, and the USSSA 1.15 BPF Certification. It is also backed by a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty! Amplify your power and pick up the Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat with free shipping today at JustBats.com!

BEAST James parent

Pros: Ball flys off this bat. Huge sweet spot. My son never complains about his hands hurting like he used to with his old Easton S3.

Cons: Pretty pricy for a bat that he'll probably grow out of in a year but worth every penny.

Pros: This is the bat to have. Great pop. First outside practice and my 14 year old son puts one over the 325' left field fence.

Small sweet spot Brad coach

Pros: When you hit the sweet spot, the ball flies.

Cons: The sweet spot is small, and when you miss it, it's a ground out to short.

Good bat so far Bulldog Baseball coach

Pros: Bat sounds good at the point of contact, have not used outdoor yet but took it to the batting cages and the pop was good.

Cons: This bat vibrates really bad from what I can tell, 3 different kids used this bat with batting gloves and still complain about the vibration . I guess it might still need some breaking in

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My son is 6 year old. In games they use a soft core baseball, but the facility at which he practices, they use regular baseballs. Are there any issues with using this bat and real baseballs? The Hammer
You can use this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB17MK12B) with hard baseballs. However, the velocity of those pitched balls should not go above 40-45 mph. If this bat is used with hard baseballs that are being thrown above 40-45 mph, the bat will most likely break down on the customer.
Ben
My son is 6 years old, 4' tall and 63 lbs. (1) What size would you recommend? (2) Is this bat ideal for coach pitch? Eagles
(1) Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting a Junior Big Barrel bat in the 27" length. If he can handle the 15 oz weight of the 27" model of this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB17MK12B), I would recommend that size of this bat. (2) Yes, this bat is a Junior Big Barrel bat and will be intended for use in coach pitch leagues.
Ben
My son is 9 years old and starting in travel league and minors. Both are entirely kid pitched games. He is 49 inches and 64 lbs. What bat would you recommend? Eileen
Because your son is playing kid pitched games we would recommend a Senior League bat, not a Junior Big Barrel Bat. I would recommend getting a 27"/17oz 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10B).
Carter
My son is 7 years old and he's playing travel ball kid pitch. Would you recommend this bat and size for him? Steven16
We would not recommend the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B for someone who is playing kid pitch unless the velocity the player would be seeing is under 40 MPH. These junior big barrel bats have thinner barrel walls and would not hold up well with higher velocity.
Cameron
My son is a 7 year old playing coach pitch. He is 4'8" and 90 lbs. What size bat would you recommend for him in a drop 10 or drop 12? Grizz
Based on what you mentioned about your son I would recommend getting a drop 12 in the 28"/16 ounce 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB16MK12B), since we are not going to have the 28" in the 2017 version.
Carter
Should the one piece Mako Beast be broken in? Tony
Yes it does. To properly break in the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B, we recommend taking 150-200 swings playing soft toss or off a tee using real baseballs.
Carter
My son is 6 years old, 49" tall and 51 lbs. What size bat would you recommend for him to use in a 35 mph pitch machine? JT
Based on his height and weight, we would suggest a 28" size, which wasn't made it the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B. I would suggest the 2016 model in the 28" size: JBB16MK12B.
Logan
Why is the bat so small? I need a bigger bat but not over 200 dollars. Any recommendations? jonathan
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B is designed for coach pitch leagues only as a junior big barrel bat will have thinner barrel walls and cannot withstand velocity over 35-40 MPH. Due to the nature of how these bats are designed, they will feature smaller sizes and lower price points than a Senior League/Youth Big Barrel bat. Two-piece, fully composite bats like the Easton MAKO BEAST will cost more and it may be beneficial to consider the 2016 Easton MAKO to save on cost. Depending on the size you are seeking though some closeout models may be tough to come by.
Cameron
Looking for a coaches pitch bat that has the most pop, with largest sweet spot. Kids on my team have all moved to the Marucci Cat 7. This does have a huge barrel and seems to have a lot of pop, right out the box. I have tried the Combat Vigor, and have hit a ton of balls off it but still no pop and the sweet spot much smaller. How would this Easton compare to the Cat 7 in size of sweet spot and overall pop? Popneeded4son
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B would feature a very similar sweet spot to the Cat 7, maybe slightly larger due to its composite design. I wouldn't be able to say one has more pop than the other, as performance between the two is very similar.
Logan
Does this bat have the USSSA 1.15 BPF sticker? Miley Wind
Yes, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB17MK12B) has the USSSA 1.15 BPF Certification stamp.
Carter
My son plays in a 8U kid / coach pitch league. They use the soft core level 5 balls. I know hard balls are not recommended but would he be okay using this bat with level 5 balls pitched from a 8U kid? Gus
The the softer baseballs one could potentially use the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B and not experience the durability issues that arise from using a Junior Big Barrel bat with velocity exceeding 35 MPH. It would ultimately come down to just how hard a pitcher can throw as well as the bat speed a player can generate.
Cameron
Is this bat legal for 8U Little League play? Mike
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B is not legal for 8U Little League play as the barrel has 2 3/4" barrel diameter. Only bats with a 2 1/4" barrel diameter would be allowed.
Cameron
My son just turned 13, he weighs about 100 lb and 5'2. What size bat should I get him and do you suggest the MAKO BEAST? Angie
The length your player should use is a 31". The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB17MK12B) would not be a good option for your player. Since your player is almost in high school, he should be using a -8 or more preferable a -5. The new rules he will encounter in high school will be the USA rules and will only allow a BBCOR bat which have to be a -3. Getting a -5 bat would be a great choice to gear him up the new rules and make the adjustment to a BBCOR bat easier.
Mick
My son is 6 about to turn 7. He is 41 pounds and 44" tall. Would I need a 26 or 27? Michael
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B in a 26 inch bat.
Cameron
Will this bat be approved for use after January 1, 2018? B baseball
Yes, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB17MK12B) will be approved for USSSA.
Mick
My son just turned 8, he weighs 60 lbs. What size bat do you recommend? Niko
Players usually swing a 29" bat at that age, so the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B may be a bit small. I would suggest checking out the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST HYPERLITE -12 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK12B or the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10B.
Logan
Is this bat legal for Pony shetland division? (machine pitch) I have the 2 5/8th barrel at 15oz which is a little to heavy for him. I think the 13 oz is perfect but just wanna make sure its pony legal? DieselDan
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB17MK12B) bat is USSSA certified. It would not be legal for use. The USA certifications are what you should be looking at.
Mick
My son plays 10u AA ball weighs about 50lbs. We're between the Easton Mako Beast or Easton Ghost X HyperLite? GC311
We recommend a Youth Big Barrel baseball bat for a player in 10u. The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -12 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GXHL12 would be a good option for your player.
Dan
I am a little confused in my last question I sent that is below in the comment section. I asked which bat would you recommend for a 10u player and the choices where the ghost and beast. You recommended the ghost and it clearly says the bat is made for 8u for coach and machine pitch. GC311
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -12 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GXHL12 is best suited for players 10 and younger. The Ghost is a Senior League bat so it's meant for youth players that are allowed to use a big barrel diameter. The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B is classified as a Junior Big Barrel which is meant for players who are in coach pitch leagues and for velocities less than 40 mph. So, just to clarify, the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -12 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GXHL12 would work for your player. If the -12 is going to be too light, you could take a look at the 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GX10.
Dan
My son is 6 year old. He's about to turn 7 and he's going to a start machine pitch/coach pitch in a month. He"s 48" tall and weighs close to 50 lbs. What type of bat is best for him to use? kingLou
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would recommend looking to a bat in the 27" length. Sadly, we do not have this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB17MK12B) available in the 27" length at this time. However, we do have the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -12 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL18GXHL12) and you can get that in the 27"/15 oz size at the current time of your question.
Ben
Is this bat BPF 1.15 Certified? Bulldog baseball
Yes, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B is USSSA 1.15 BPF certified and is recommended for players 8 and under.
Dan
Is this bat approved for USA, the 2018 rules for Babe Ruth league? Mike Kennedy
No, this bat does not have the new USA Baseball certification stamp so it will not be legal for Babe Ruth play in 2018.
Kyle J.
I just ordered this bat in 25' 13 oz. for my 6 year old about to be 7. Is this bat too small for him? mel w
Typically, at that age, players will swing a 27" Junior Big Barrel bat, so the 25" 13 oz. size of the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B may be a little small. I would look at something like a 27" 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -12 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB18GXHL12 at your player's age.
Logan
My 6.5 year old weighs about 55 lbs and is just a hair under 4". He"s coming from a Mako 24', -13 drop bat. He"ll be in machine pitch at 40 mph this year. I"m thinking of this bat in the 26' length. Good choice? Or is there a better choice in a similar price point? chris
26" seems about right for the length at his size. The Easton Mako Beast (JBB17MK12B) would be an excellent choice. Another one you might look at would be the Marucci Cat 6 Junior Big Barrel (MJBBC6).
Kyle J.
My 5.5 year old weighs around 41 lbs and is between 43-44 inches tall. This is his first year of coach pitch. Would this be a good bat for him, and if so, what size would you recommend? mikey
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B would be a great option for your player. At his size, I would suggest the 26" 14 oz. size.
Logan
Is this bat stamped USA approved? samantha
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB17MK12B is not USA stamped. This bat will feature the USSSA certification with the 1.15 BPF stamp.
