Description

The latest and greatest members of the Power Brigade are here and ready to be unleashed.

The Easton MAKO BEAST is the newest version of one of the most popular baseball bats in the industry and it now has the biggest and most powerful composite barrel that Easton has ever made. By extending and combining the game's longest two-piece composite barrel with the game's fastest swing speed, this bat is an absolute BEAST that offers the lowest swing weight index out of the entire Easton lineup. A low swing weight index results in an evenly balanced model that delivers power through fast swing speeds. Easton's redesigned TCT Thermo Composite technology creates a barrel that is 1.5 inches longer than the legendary, first generation MAKO for more plate coverage and a huge sweet spot. This extended barrel is connected to 31/32 inch composite handle by the patented two-piece ConneXion technology that maximizes energy transfer while eliminating sting for optimized feel and comfort. Adding to the comfort is the fact that each MAKO BEAST comes wrapped with the formidable HYPERSKIN grip and it is backed by a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty. Easton: Unleash The Beast!

This Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK features a -3 length to weight ratio, a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter, and is BBCOR Certified for high school and collegiate play. Buy your MAKO BEAST with the bigger, badder, BBCOR barrel today with free shipping!

2017 Easton Mako BBCOR 30 Coach Jim coach

Pros: this bat is ideal for the 12u Little Leaguer who is transitioning to Babe Ruth or a 60 / 90 middle school / high school official dimension diamond. most brands only sell 31 / 29 BBCOR bats, and they are extremely heavy for many transitioning players, especially for the player who has not yet begun puberty, and may be more accustomed to the much lighter drop 11 Easton Mako bats used in LL. this bat is a drop 3, but at 30 inches cuts down the weight by a full ounce, a big deal for the less powerful hitter. Moreover, the barrel is about an inch and a half longer than prior Easton Mako BBCOR models, and thus has a much larger sweet-spot. giving up the extra ounce will mean a little less power, but NOBODY who is 13u is hitting the ball out of a 60 / 90 park, so bat control take precedence over power. I wish all makes and models of BBCOR bats started at 30 / 27 instead of 31 / 28. This bat is sensational and in my opinion, the very best bat on the market for the newly 13u player.

Cons: the biggest and only "con" is the cost. no bat should cost $449, including this one. But if one were to have greater value than the rest, it's this bat because it fills such a big need for this transitional time. If your lad is a stronger or more physically mature player, then a 31 / 28 is a good choice, and he can get 2 years out of it, making the bat more cost effective

Good Bat but don't trust the weight John parent

Pros: Good Pop, but not noticeably better than better than the way lees expensive S500 or the Z-Core.

Cons: It's over an ounce heavier than advertised. We ordered 30/27, and it's 819 grams, almost 29 ounces. deduct 1/2 ounce for the grip. So if you really want a -3, get something else. The 30 that we got is -2.

Don't waste your ife savings Jakeman player

Pros: It looks nice. And it makes you look cool. And if you wanna look on the bright side it actually lasted me a good 2 weeks so yeah.

Cons: Well I have been saving up for a new bat to take me to the next level for years now. I made a bank account and started saving at 10 and I am now 15. I spent all my money on this bat and it literally exploded the first time I took it to the field. My parents kicked me out of the house for being "a disappointment" and my girlfriend broke up with me for stealing her money. Thanks for nothing Easton.

Best bat I've ever swang in my life Dylan Werner player

Pros: The Beast reminds my if my two favorite bats if all time, the S1 and XL1, this bat has combine both if then to create the ultimate "beast". The pop is out of the park good!!! I've had many bats such as the Demarini VooDoo, Marucci Cat 6&7, 2014 Easton Mako, Easton XL1, S1, and the Rawlings 5150; by far the Mako Beast is the best in every category blowing every past bat out of the equation. It has gave me nothing but tremendous results such as blasting a 365ft. homerun in a varsity district game.

Great Bat, Bad Grip Chance Crafton player

Pros: I used this bat at a prospect tournament and I absolutely loved it! Great bat speed and has decent pop. The bat has no vibration or sting and feels very light for a bbcor bat.

Cons: Gets dirty easily and the grip is terrible and wears easily. If you get this I would recommend getting lizard skin or a different bat grip. I gave the feel a 3 out of 5 purely because of the awful bat grip. Once you put a different grip on this bat, it's unstoppable!

easton mako beast bb cor ncholas parent

Pros: I bought the Mako Beast in a 31 inch 28 once for my son who is 5 ft 4 and about 110 pounds , at first wasn't to happy with the pop. after about 500 hits the pop is getting better and better so be prepared to break it in. The Mako Beast overall is a very light swinging bat huge barrel very easy to get around with lots of solid line drives . my son has tried many BB cor bats and the Mako Beast seems to be one of the best drop 3 bats out there. I waited awhile before giving a review on the Beast just to see how it played out

Mako BEAST is a great bat Anonymous player

Pros: The overall bat is great but is lacking some pop for a big guy like me. This bat is very balanced so if you're in middle school, this is a great bat for you, I'm in high school and strong but I still use it very well, I think I'm going to get a more end loaded bat but overall this is a great bat, get it now because it is at a very good price.

Mako Beast Tj Shay player

Pros: Excellent Pop and no vibration(its a composite so there shouldn't be any vibration). It is way worth the $449, and its competitor the Louisville Slugger 918 is the exact same, however, I would go with this bat because of it lats a little bit longer than the 918. This is the best BBCOR bat out there, and I would suggest this one. The new 2018 Demarini has more pop than this bat and also the 918, however it lasted me about a month and its pop crashed and it basically died. If you like aluminum bats, however, I would suggest the Louisville slugger 618 Solo or its lighter version the 518.

Cons: The beast is amazing, the grip needs to be better and you should get a lizard skin.

Pros: My son had this bat his final year of little league. He loved it. No vibration, great sound and feel. Plenty of pop, HRs in this bat. THIS BAT IS A "BEAST" BUT IS IT WORTH THE COST? littleleaguepop parent

Pros: What can I say, Easton hit pay dirt all the way back to the 2011 "Omen" which became the bat of "lore". The bat is amazing, and my son swings this bat with ridiculous successful results. Feels just a tad end-loaded which is a good thing for a balanced swinging bat. I applaud Easton's discipline to NOT make an XL version in this model, as there is no reason, as this bat is somewhat in the middle. The two-piece design allows a whip effect which produces additional punch when your kid times it up correctly. The sweet-spot is massive, so unless hit on the handle or tip, will rocket away somewhere on the field. Also a durable bat, can be used over and over and will crack before it breaks. Another reason Easton's are so expensive, and this is important so pay attention, thanks to the cutting-edge TCT Thermo Composite Technology the bat does not lose its pop, however, continue to become hotter and hotter. However, is it so much better than other less priced bats in its line?

Cons: My question, is the Easton Mako Beast, worth the additional cost over the Easton Mako Torq XL 2-5/8" BBCOR Bat -3oz also in its line? At 3x more expensive than the green Torq, it is a no-brainer. When I purchased my son his black Mako Beast, I also purchased him the green Mako Torq XL as a field bat and maybe more. We tested both bats and were shocked. He was actually hitting bigger bombs with the green Mako Torq XL as well as fighting off inside pitches better with its spinning handle. The bottom line, he hit better with the green Mako Torq XL. Now.... which bat does he use in his Travel Ball and Babe Ruth games? The black Mako Beast of course. ??

Doesn't feel like a composite bat Stephen player

Pros: This bat has a giant barrel and is quite light but other than that the bat is very average.

Cons: I hate how this feels once the ball is hit, it is fully composite, but it feels almost like a half aluminum half composite bat. If you are looking for a composite bat with a traditional composite feel do not buy this bat. Also this bat makes an extremely strange sound when you hit with it, at times it sounds like a wood bat and at times it sounds aluminum.

Not Durable/ Lots Of Lemons G-Baby player

Pros: My team bought three of these bats between us and two of them were lemons. The one that wasn't a lemon had amazing pop and has held up very well. Our highschool team had senior night for our first fame and our senior hit a 450 ft. plus 3 run jack. It is also a black bat so when you leave it in the sun the pop is insane. The pop is better than the new ghost X.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is there any difference from last year's model other than cosmetics? jr
This 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) will be extremely similar to the 2016 MAKO (BB16MK). The same TCT Thermo composite material will be used on each bat. In my opinion, the biggest difference will be the cosmetics and also a barrel length on this 2017 model that may be slightly longer than what was featured on the BB16MK from last year.
Ben
What bat manufactured by Easton has the lightest swing weight out of the 2017 BBCOR models? G
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is the lightest swinging BBCOR bat from Easton's 2017 lineup.
Jason
Does this bat have any similarities to the 2016 Easton Mako XL? Paul
This 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) will feature the same material as the 2016 MAKO XL BBCOR bat. However, the difference will be that the MAKO XL featured an end-loaded swing feel while this MAKO BEAST will be more balanced in its swing feel.
Ben
My son is 12 years old and making the jump to the big field. He will need a -3 BBCOR bat for this fall. He has always used the Easton MAKO bats and finished this summer season using a 31"/21 oz MAKO. Based on him being 5'1" and about 115 lbs, would you suggest a 30" or 31' as he moves up to a much heavier BBCOR bat? G
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting a BBCOR baseball bat in the 30" length. If you feel that your player can handle the 27 oz weight of the 30" model of this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK), I would recommend that size option.
Ben
What is the difference between the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen and the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST? joe
Performance wise these two bats are extremely comparable. Both are two-piece, fully composite models with balanced swing weights and very large sweet spots.
Kyle J.
What is the difference between this bat and the 2016 MAKO? travis
Sean
Is there a break in process for this bat? John
To properly break in the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK), we recommend taking 150-200 swings playing soft toss or off a tee using real baseballs. Begin swinging at 40% power and work our way up to full strength as you get closer to 200 swings
Carter
Is this bat comparable to the Louisville Slugger Prime 915? Lake
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is very similar to the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915. Both bats have a fully composite construction with a balanced swing weight. The main difference is that the Easton MAKO BEAST has a two-piece design and the Louisville Slugger Prime has a three-piece design.
Angelique
Do you need to keep the holographic stickers on the bat, and why? Spencer
If you were to order this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK), I would recommend removing one of the two stickers (both stickers are identical) from the bat and placing it on a paper copy of your receipt. If a warranty issue arose with the bat, Easton would want you to be able to send your bat to them with one of the stickers on the bat and one of the stickers on the paper copy of the receipt in order to get a replacement bat.
Ben
My son is moving to 13U this spring and needs a BBCOR -3 bat. He has been very happy with the MAKO (30") he used for Little League. He is 4'8" and 70 lbs. What would you recommend? N
Based on his height and weight, I would recommend a 29" -3. The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is not available in the 29". Jumping from a Little League bat to a BBCOR is a hard transition, but the 2017 Easton Z-CORE Speed BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17ZS is available in 29".
Linsey
I'm 5'7" 130 pounds and 13 years old. Do you think that the Louisville Slugger Prime 917 would be better for me or the Mako Beast? Ken Adams
Both the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK and the 2017 Louisville Slugger Prime 917 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBP9173 are great options, the main difference between the two bats is that the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is a two-piece design which will give the bat more flex. 2017 Louisville Slugger Prime 917 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBP9173 is a three-piece design which will give it a stiffer feel.
Sean
How long will this bat last/not lose pop if you use it for practice and games year round? Robinson Cano
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) is a composite bat and composite bats do not typically "lose pop" the more they are used. They will keep getting hotter and hotter. Also, we cannot predict how long a bat will last. It really just depends on a lot of factors.
Carter
Is the extended barrel on the BEAST the same as a 2014 XL1 or longer? Brian
The barrel on the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK should be slightly longer than the 2014 Easton XL1
Sean
How does this bat compare to the Easton S1 Brigade? leon
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is similar to the Easton S1 in that both bats are/were two-piece fully composite bats with balanced swing weights. The MAKO will use TCT composite and have a barrel 1.5 inches longer while the S1 used IMX composite materials.
Cameron
What size grip tape is used on the handle of the BEAST? Mike
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK does not specify the grip tape being used but it appears it may be 1.1 MM.
Cameron
My son is 14 and about 6 feet tall. What do you recommend, a 32 or 33? Eddie
Based on your son's height, a 33 inch 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK would be best but based on the player's age, and dependent on weight, a 32 inch would be the safer choice.
Cameron
Will this bat be more for a power hitter or contact hitter? bobby
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is a two-piece fully composite bat with a balanced swing weight. This bat can be used by both contact and power hitters although true power hitters have a tendency of preferring an end-loaded bat.
Cameron
My grandson is 14. He is a freshman in high school. He is 5'10" and 145 lbs. What size bat do you recommend? What bat do you recommend that can be used in high school? BayAreaman3
Based on your grandsons height and weight we would recommend that he swings a 32"/29 ounce 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK).
Carter
My son is 15 and is 5'11" and weighs 155-160. What size bat do you recommend? shte12
We would recommend a 32" length of bat. You can go up or down 1" from the recommendation however depending on things like how far he stands from the plate, whether he chokes up or not, how strong he is, etc.
Kyle J.
My son has used the Mako and XL since he was 10 and swings the end loaded bat very well. Now that he is soon to be 14, we are looking at a -3 drop bat. Please advice on either the Mako Beast or DeMarini CF Insane End Load. Troy
If you are looking to continue swinging an end loaded bat, I would suggest going with the CF Insane End Load since the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is balanced.
Logan
My son is 15 and playing freshman high school ball. He's 6'5" and 165 lbs. What size bat do you recommend? MHLL
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of looking for this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) in the 33" length as long as you feel that he can handle the 30 oz weight.
Ben
My son is 16, 6'0 and 190 pounds. He is a strong kid. He wants to move to a 34" bat. Is this the right size for him? 8ohio
Based on his height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK in a 33''. However, if he has previously used a 33'' and is comfortable with it, he could definitely move up to a 34'' bat.
Tori
Are they going to make a BEAST BBCOR XL? don
As of right now (2/1/2017) we have nothing in our system and have not heard of Easton making a Mako Beast XL BBCOR Baseball Bat.
Carter
My son is 5' 10" 162 lbs. What size MAKO BEAST should we buy? Shine
Based on your sons height and weight we would recommend a 32"/29 ounce 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK).
Carter
I am a junior in high school and I have not decided between the MAKO BEAST or the 2017 Voodoo. I have always used the Voodoo series, but have been recommended the MAKO BEAST by some teammates and don't know if the MAKO will sound right after using the alloys and will last as long. Also, I am concerned about a break in period, is it necessary? Blake
Both the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) and the Voodoo series are both very good bats. If you properly break in a composite bat such as the Mako Beast durability will not be a concern. To properly break in the Mako Beast, we recommend taking 150-200 swings playing soft toss or off a tee using real baseballs.
Carter
If I am 5'10" and 215 lbs. Should I get the 33 in or the 32? I used the 33" last year but I felt like i wasn't getting my bat around as fast as I wanted to. wood
Based on your height and weight we would recommend a 33"/30 ounce 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK), however, if you feel that your bat speed was slower I would go with the 32"/29 ounce. The charts and bat coach are really just recommendations and everybody is different. The extra ounce could really help with your bat speed and comfort up at the plate.
Carter
My 12 yr old is 5'4",105. My 16 yr old is 5'8", 140. Both use -3. What bat sizes do you suggest for both? Zach
For the 12 year old, I would suggest a 29" 26oz size. However, there aren't many options at that size, so I would go with the 30" 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK. For the 16 year old, I would suggest a 32" 29oz size.
Logan
Should I buy this or the Z-CORE Speed Limited. What performs better? Mike
Both are going to perform similarly. The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is a two-piece composite bat and will provide flex and whip in the swing. The Z-CORE is a one-piece alloy bat that will offer stiffness to power hitters.
Logan
Break in period. How should you break it in? Rock
To properly break in the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK), we recommend taking 150-200 swings playing soft toss or off a tee using real baseballs. Begin swinging at 40% power and work our way up to full strength as you get closer to 200 swings.
Carter
My son is 14, 5'6" and weighs 100 lbs. What size do you recommend? This is his first -3. Sean Silver
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 30" model in the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK.
Jason
My son is 6'9" 285 lbs. What size bat would you recommend? baseball marsh
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK in a 34 inch model.
Cameron
I am 14 years old and am wondering what size of the MAKO BEAST would be best for me? My old bat was an Easton Z-Core 33 inch drop 3 which I was very comfortable with. I currently 5'10" and 160 pounds. MattyG
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK in a 33 inch model if you were comfortable swinging a Z-CORE previously in the same length.
Cameron
How will the new 2018 USA bat rules effect this bat? I presume it would be permitted to be used until the end of this year then be obsolete? Ryan
At this time, we do not know and the manufacturer's do not know either. We do know that no manufacturer is making a -3 oz. USA Bat product.
Cameron
Is there any difference between this and the 2015 TORQ besides the handle and cosmetics? Blasé
The Torq version of this bat is going to have a Torq handle which is the main difference between the two. Also, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) is going to feature a longer barrel than the 2015 Torq.
Carter
Are there any differences in this bat and the 2016 TORQ besides the handle and the look? Big papi
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK actually features a barrel that is 1.5 inches longer than previous MAKO bats including the 2016 EASTON MAKO TORQ. This would be the main difference besides the previously mentioned fact that the TORQ has the rotating handle
Cameron
Is this bat end loaded? Richard Linehan
No, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is not end loaded. It is balanced and has a low swing weight.
Tori
Does this bat have a flared handle like the DeMarini Voodoos? blake
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK does feature a small flare, as most BBCOR bats do, but it is not as noticeable as the DeMarini bats since the Mako handle is thicker to begin with.
Logan
My son loves his CAT 6 however he is in the market for a new bat and the Beast is catching his eye. He's 13, 5'6" and 155 lbs. What's the difference in the Cat Series and the Beast and what length do you think he should get? eagleit_18
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is a two piece composite bat, whereas the Cat series is a one piece alloy design. Based on your player's height and weight, I would suggest a 32" size.
Logan
What size do you recommend for a 14 year old, 5'4" and 141 pounds? Kevin
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK in a 31 inch model.
Cameron
My kid is 5'6 and 130 pounds. Would a 31 or 32 be best for him? He is 11. craig smith
If your player is required to swing a BBCOR bat, I would suggest a 31" 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK. However, most 11 year old leagues do not require the use of a BBCOR bat. If he is not required to swing BBCOR, I would suggest a 32" 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK10.
Logan
I just got the 33/30 of this bat, so my friend and I are planning on breaking it in by just hitting BP with it. I was wondering if there's anything specific to do in order for this bat to perform its best for as long as it can? Robinson Cano
The best way to break in the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK would be to take soft toss and tee work, rotating the barrel a 1/4" after each swing. For a composite bat, it typically takes 75-250 swings to get game ready. To get the bat lasting as long as possible it is advisable to use the bat in warmer temperatures and to use another bat for BP and practice swings.
Cameron
Is this bat "legal" for babe Ruth and middle school (8th grade) baseball teams? denise
BBCOR is the certification for high school age league and above. You will have to check with your league commissioner to see if BBCOR is allowed for your league.
Kyle J.
Is the BBCOR Mako beast barrel longer than the 2016 Mako XL barrel? Does it have a larger sweet spot? Rocko
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK does feature a longer barrel for a larger sweet spot than the 2016 Mako XL.
Logan
Is the MAKO Beast end loaded or balanced? -_-
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK features a balanced swing weight.
Jason
In terms of exit velocity and power hitting, how does this bat compare to the DeMarini Voodoo? phils28
You wouldn't see much difference in terms of exit velocity between the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK and the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVBC. With both being two piece BBCOR bats, the only real difference would be that the Mako Beast features a larger sweet spot than the Voodoo due to the Mako's composite material.
Logan
Which bat, in your recommendation, is better between this bat and the 2017 Rawlings VELO? Homer
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK and the Rawlings VELO are both great bats to consider. The MAKO bat will not be as balanced as the VELO but will reduce vibration more on off-centered hits (due to the two-piece design). Since it is composite it will also require a break-in before being game ready while the VELO will be hot out of the wrapper. As well, the VELO is going to be better suited in colder weather (will hold up better as well) while the MAKO could give a slight advantage in warmer weather.
Cameron
My son is small but is playing modified and 13U travel ball and we are looking for the lowest swing weight bat (MOI). We have come down to 3 bats: MAKO BEAST, CAT 7 and LS 617. Any suggestions? DJ
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK will come in around 1.3 ounces heavier than the listed weight on the bat. This will be the same for the LS Solo 617. Meanwhile, the Marucci CAT 7 will come in slightly lighter at 1.1 ounces over the listed weight. As far as the MOI is concerned for each bat, this is not something the manufacturers advertise so it would be tough to say which one is lower than the next. It really comes down to whether you prefer a two-piece bat (Easton MAKO BEAST) or alloy barrel (LS Solo 617 and Marucci CAT 7).
Cameron
I'm 5'11" and 15 years old. I hit 3 or 4 hole. Would you recommend this bat or the Voodoo ONE? Magic18
Both the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK and the DeMarini Voodoo ONE are balanced bats and can be used by both contact and power hitters alike. As far as which bat to get, the MAKO will be a two-piece fully composite while the Voodoo ONE will be a one-piece fully alloy bat. There are pros and cons to each (composite requires a break-in, not as ideal in colder weather from a performance and durability standpoint, more expensive, better performing in warmer weather, tendency to hold performance capabilities longer; alloy bats are cheaper, better performing in colder weather, hot out of the wrapper). As well, the two-piece construction of the MAKO will reduce vibration from off-centered hits better but the Voodoo ONE will be stiffer (sting hands more when not squared up properly) but could offer slightly more power.
Cameron
My son will be 16 years old in September. He is 5'9" and 130 lbs. What size bat would you recommend? Bill Ball
Based upon your player's height and weight, my general recommendation would be looking for this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) in the 31"/28 oz.
Ben
Is this bat end loaded or balanced? I am looking for a bat to increase my hand speed. Would this be that bat? blake
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) is a balanced option that would help increase your hand speed.
Carter
My son is about 5 ft tall and weighs about 100 pounds. He is 13 years old. What would you recommend for bat size? Dev
We would recommend a 29" or 30" model for any BBCOR size bat, judging by his size.
Kyle J.
My son used the Easton Mako in 2016 and then switched to the Mako XL in 2017 high school and it seemed to have more pop (distance) to balls he was hitting. The cap broke and Easton said they are not making the XL any longer and are out of them to replace it with so they offered him a Mako Beast. These are all -3 BBCOR bats. Do you feel the Mako Beast has as much "pop"? Bret
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK and Mako Beast XL both have a very similar design. I would say the XL has just as much pop.
Trevor
I am 13 and 5 foot 3 inches and 125 pounds. I need a BBCOR bat for a 13u travel ball tournament. Is this a good bat choice for me? I have recently used the 2015 XL1 and loved it! C
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is a two-piece fully composite bat with a balanced swing weight. This would make an excellent choice for someone seeking a BBCOR bat. Main difference between this and the XL1 is the swing weight design; the XL1 featured an end-loaded swing weight.
Cameron
I'm 13 and I'm looking for a BBCOR (first time using the BBCOR bats). I hear this bat is balanced swinging (not end-loaded). Will it make a difference in the power of the bat? Zach
You will still be able to generate power with this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) even though it is no end-loaded (most times, the biggest factor for generating power is swing speed and not end-load). Typically, the suggestion for end-loaded bats comes about for a player that feels the balanced bats are too light for use. If you are just making the move to the heavier BBCOR bats, I think a balanced bat like this MAKO is a good option for starting out.
Ben
Can I add Lizard Skin grip to this? Debbie
We sell bats, such as the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK, as they come from the manufacturer, so it would feature the standard Easton grip. However, you can add a different grip once you have the bat.
Logan
My son is almost 13 and very small (4' 10'' and 82 lbs). He has to start swinging a BBCOR this fall. What would you recommend? JC
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would recommend going with a smaller size of BBCOR bat in the 30" length (27 oz weight). This 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) features a balanced swing feel and is available in that 30" size. This MAKO BEAST would certainly be a suggestion of mine to you.
Ben
I'm looking for a BBCOR baseball bat for next year. I'm 5'6" and 120 lbs. What size bat would you suggest? TJ
Based upon on your height and weight, we would recommend a BBCOR bat in the 31" length. If you can handle the 28 oz weight of the 31" 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK), I would recommend this bat in that size highly.
Ben
I am 6'3" and 195 lbs. What would be the best bat weight for me? lllllllll
Based upon your height and weight, my general recommendation would be to get this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) in the 34"/31 oz size.
Ben
I'm 5'8 and a half around 130 pounds I'm 14 years old and I need a BBCOR bat for freshman ball. What size do you think I should get? Ethan Taylo
For the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK I would get the 32 inch model, based on your height and weight.
Trevor
I am 5'3" and 105 pounds. What size would fit me best? mane
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 30" model in the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK.
Jason
How does the MAKO BEAST BBCOR compare to the Louisville 917? Rick G
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK and the LS Prime 917 are both two piece fully composite bats with balanced swing weights. The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK has a tendency to run a little heavier than the LS Prime 917 by about 1/2 ounce. As well, the connection point on the MAKO BEAST will be stiffer.
Cameron
I am 5'11" and 185 lbs. Would you recommend this bat or the DeMarini Voodoo One (I don't favor composite over aluminum)? magic
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would suggest a 33" BBCOR bat. This 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) has been made for a number of years with great success by Easton. With the balanced feel and longer barrel length, I think you would enjoy use of this bat.
Ben
I am 13 and 6 foot 125lb. I am looking for a good BBCOR for next season which length would be ideal for me. Right now I am using a 31in 2014 MAKO BBCOR and it has amazing pop but I'm looking for a new one but don't know what length to get. I can swing the 31' fine and it feels like I have no power due to how light it is. jordy
I would suggest a 32'' 29 oz bat. The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is a great option for BBCOR bat as well.
Max
My son hits with a Mako Beast XL (-5), but has to move to the BBCOR (-3). He has no issues generating bat speed. How much of a difference will the balanced swing of the MAKO Beast BBCOR be from the end-loaded MAKO Beast XL? Will a balanced bat be able to generate as much power as the end-loaded bats? Jr
Unfortunately, it will be really hard to truly compare an end-loaded -5, USSSA bat to a balanced -3, BBCOR bat. Everyone's perception of the feel will differ slightly and there are some players who will be affected negatively by the change and there will be others who transition without any issues. That being said, if your player is currently benefiting from the end-loaded feel on his -5 bat, I might recommend bypassing this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) and moving to an end-loaded, BBCOR bat. An end-loaded BBCOR bat to suggest would be the 2017 DeMarini CF Insane End Load BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCIC).
Ben
I'm about 5'8'', 5'9'' ish and am somewhere between 135-140 lbs. I am shopping for an Easton BBCOR bat to use in my league, but don't know what Easton model to get or what inch bat to buy. Can you give me some recommendations/suggestions? JustWait
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend getting a 31'' bat. The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is a great balanced bat for a contact hitter. If you are more of a power hitter, the Z-Core XL of MAKO XL would probably be a better choice for you.
Tori
I'm 5 foot 5 and weigh 112 pounds and am 14 years old. What size bat do you suggest for me? Also, do you suggest buying a drop 3 bat or a slightly lighter bat to generate more bat speed? Patrick
If you are allowed to swing a non-BBCOR bat, you would see better performance out of such bats due to their less restrictive certification. If you go with a BBCOR bat such as the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK, I would suggest a 30" 27 ounce. If you go with a senior league bat, such as the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST XL Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK5, I would suggest going with a 31" 26 ounce size.
Logan
Which bat has the most pop and is the most balanced? Jonathan
I would recommend the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) if you are looking for a high performing, balanced option.
Carter
I am about to turn 15 years old. I weigh about 135 lbs and I am about 5'9". Thinking about the MAKO BEAST (BB17MK), the Lock & Load (BB17ZLL), the 2017 Z Core Speed (BB17ZS) and the 2017 Z-Core Hybrid (BB17ZH). Can someone describe how these models compare. What bat should I buy and what size (I swing with a 31" bat, but people are telling me to go up an inch or two while others tell me to stay where I am at)? CaliforniaKid
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting a BBCOR bat in the 31" length, but I imagine that you will probably be growing a little bit within the next couple of years. Because of that, it would be worth considering a 32" length. The MAKO will be a 2-piece, all-composite bat with a balanced feel. The Z-Core Speed will be a one-piece, all-alloy bat with a balanced feel as well. The Z-Core Hybrid will be a hybrid bat (alloy barrel and composite handle) and feature a little bit of an end-load. The Lock and Load is a one-piece, all-alloy design. As well, it can be made for a power hitter or contact hitter by adding or subtracting weight from the end of the bat. My suggestion of bat would be the MAKO since it is balanced in its feel and we have it in the 32" length (32" length since you will be growing).
Ben
I was looking at this bat and the Louisville Slugger Prime 917. Which one do you suggest for a power hitter that is looking for pop in the barrel? Cooper
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK features a stiffer two piece design than the three piece design of the 2017 Louisville Slugger Prime 917 BBCOR Baseball Bat, so the Beast may be a better option for a power style hitter.
Logan
I have been reading all the comments and have a question. The bat sizes you have suggested to people don't match the chart in the bat buying resource. My son is 5'3" and 95 lbs. He is sold on the Mako Beast BBCOR. He wants a 31"/28 oz based on the chart. What do you suggest? jaflaim13
Typically, our bat experts make their "general" suggestions based off the Bat Coach application on the website. That is why the suggestions from the experts may not match what is listed in the chart in the Bat Resource Guide (the Bat Coach and the Resource Guide differ a little bit). That being said, I think that your player could go with the 31"/28 oz size of this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK), it may just be a little heavy starting out.
Ben
Will the mako beast drop 3 be legal next year with the new bat restrictions. My son will be a freshman in high school. dan
The BBCOR restrictions will not have any change to them. The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK will be legal.
Max
Which bat would you suggest for a 14 year old (5'6" and 125 lbs) playing 16U and hitting leadoff (a little power)? Javy
Based upon your height and weight, I would suggest a 31" length of a BBCOR bat. This 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) will be pretty balanced and easy to control for a leadoff hitter. As well, it is currently available in the 31"/28 oz size.
Ben

I have heard that composite bats lose their pop after awhile. If my son uses it for both BP and games, how long can I expect this to be for the Mako Beast and how does that compare to other brands? Aaron
If used for both BP and games and the player plays quite often, you can probably expect a season or two out of a composite bat, little more or little less depending on each individual situation. Durability is roughly the same for most composite bats.
Kyle J.

Carter
Is this bat legal for the 2018 season? My son is 14 playing travel and jr. high baseball. Coach
Travel baseball, such as USSSA sanctioned tournaments, are not changing their bat rules, so the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK would be legal for that. You would want to find out from the jr. high league what kind of certifications they will require for bats. Some require BBCOR certified bats, so the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK would be legal there as well, I would just double check to be sure.
Logan
My son is 8th grade, 13 years old. Needs to move from a 31 drop 7 to a BBCOR -3. He is just about 5 1/2 feet tall and a bit over 100 lbs. What do you recommend? Parent
Based on your player's height and weight, I would suggest going with a 31" 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK since he is already accustomed to that length.
Logan
I am 16, 210 lbs., and 6'2." I am wondering what size bat to swing. garrett.kingan
Based on your height and weight, I would suggest a 33" 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK.
Logan
My son has to use a BBCOR 31 inch or longer bat for middle school next year. I am looking for a bat with the lowest swing weight I can find. How does the Mako Beast compare to other bats in terms of swing weight? Thanks! Johnny
All bats will be roughly an ounce heavier than the listed weight. This is due to the manufactures weighing the raw bat before putting the grip tape and cosmetics on the bat. The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) weighs about 1.3 ounces more than its listed weight
Mick
Which bat is better, the MAKO BEAST BBCOR or the 917 Prime BBCOR? I am trying to decided which bat should I get and I"m 5"5" 105 lbs. Keithdem26
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend getting a 29 or 30 inch bat. As for which bat is better, both the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK and the LS Prime 917 are fully composite models with balanced swing weights. To date, we have received more reviews on the LS Prime 917 but the overall reviews on the MAKO BEAST have a higher rating. From one BBCOR model to the next there is typically not a significance difference in terms of performance as these bats are highly regulated. With that being the case, either of these bats would be great options to consider.
Cameron
I have this bat and after a high school season and playing in the playoffs threw the 4th round and a full summer with 81 times at bat, bating practices the bat feels dead an has no pop. Sticker
If you feel like the bat is defective we can go through the warranty process. This bat has a 12 month warranty. If you give us a call we can get that started.
Mick
Is this bat approved for Babe Ruth play in 2018? doug
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is allowed for use in Babe Ruth baseball for the 13-15 age division. BBCOR bats are required for the 16-18 age division.
Cameron
I noticed there is a used Mako Beast in the size my kid wants. It is listed as in excellent condition. Was this a demo bat and if so, how many swings would you say it has on it? John
Our used bats are not demo bats, they are bats that we decided to take back from a customer based on rare circumstances. A bat listed in "Excellent" condition will appear nearly brand new, and not have hardly any swings on it.
Kyle J.
My son is 14, 5-6, 120 lbs. and he swung a 31" -10 last year. We're looking at the 32/29 for next year. Would this be okay, or should he stick to the 31/28? He is going through a big growth spurt. qball
Based on his current height and weight, I would suggest going with a 31/28 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK. But if you feel as though he will be growing quite a bit over the winter and can handle the added ounce, then going with a 32" wouldn't be out of the question.
Logan
Is this bat end loaded or balanced? RAN29
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is a balanced bat.
Carter
Would you recommend this bat or the Rawlings Velo? Peter Giombetti
Both bats will be good options. It will be up to the player if they want a one-piece alloy or a two-piece composite like the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK.
Dan
What size bat would you recommend for a 15 year old 5' 9" 145 lbs that will last him a few seasons? 31" or 32"? He was swinging a 31" last year, but want to make sure that he doesn't outgrow this bat too soon. curious
I would recommend the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK in a 32 inch length.
Dan
What size bat for a 5'10" 180 lbs 15 year old? A 32" or 33"? Johnny
Based on the players height and weight, we suggest a 33" model of the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK.
Jason
What size should a 6"0 150lbs 16 year old use for this bat? twproffitt
The suggested bat for the specifications of your player is 33" and 30oz.
Tyler
Can this bat be used next year under the new USA bat rules? Dylansdad10
Unfortunately, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) will not be allowed under the USA baseball bat rules for 2018.
Tyler
Does this bat have the BBCOR .50 stamp for use in the 2018 BBCOR leagues? In particular, the 14U New England Elite Baseball League (EBL)? R14644
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK features the BBCOR certification stamp, and it is legal for any league that requires the BBCOR standard for play.
Jason
Is this bat made more for power hitters or contact hitters? Johnnie Bigfoot
Considering the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK has a balanced swing weight I would say it's able to be utilized by both types of hitters, whereas an end-loaded bat would mainly pertain to predominantly power hitters.
Tyler
Is this USA certified? Dennis
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is not going to be USA Baseball certified. This model is BBCOR certified so it will be made to play in high school and college baseball.
Cooper
Which 2018 Easton BBCOR replaces the 2017 Easton BBCOR Mako Beast? Pancho
The 2018 Easton Ghost X BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB18GX) replaced the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK).
Mick
What's the difference between the 2018 Easton Ghost X BBCOR (BB18GX) and the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK)? Pancho
The big difference between this 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) and the 2018 Easton Ghost X BBCOR (BB18GX) will be the new EXACT Carbon Composite Material on the Ghost X that optimizes barrel performance & enlarges the sweet spot. Another difference will be the re-designed connection point on the Ghost X that should delivery upgraded durability.
Ben
Is this bat very durable? I want to make sure that it lasts me a good year or so before it breaks. I've heard that this bat is very fragile. Butthole Bob
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is going to be a durable bat that will last a good year and features an one year manufacturers warranty.
Carter
My son is 12 years old. He is 4"9', weighs about 80-85lbs, is playing USSSA this year and middle school next year. What bat do you recommend for him? CM
I would not recommend this Easton Mako Beast BBCOR. BBCOR is a bat intended for high school and college players, and they are all -3 drops so they are heavier than other bats. You will want to look at bats with a -8 to a -10 drop. Some good examples are the 2017 Marucci Cat 7 (MSBYC78), the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen (DXCBZR), or the 2017 Rawlings Velo (SL7V10).
Kyle J.
Can the BB17MK be used for little league play in 2018? Mike
BBCOR bats like the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK can only be used in the 'Senior League' division of Little League. You will be approved to use this bat if you are playing in that division. If not, I would recommend something similar like the 2018 Easton Ghost X -5 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GX5 which features the new USA certification for Little League.
Dan
Hi, my son is 14 years old and he is on a 14U double A travel team, is this Easton MAKO beast BBCOR a good bat for him? oriel
Bat recommendation will vary from player to player. If your player likes two-piece, composite bats with a balanced swing weight, then I would recommend the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK in a 32 inch length. However, if your player likes one-piece, alloy bats then I would recommend the 2018 Easton Beast X Speed BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB18BXS in a 32 inch length as well.
Dan
How would this bat compare to the 2017 CF Zen? Which would be more balanced? Kinch017
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK and the 2018 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXCBC are very comparable options featuring two piece composite designs. They will have a very similar feel and the balance of the two options are extremely comparable.
Carter
Is this 2017 Mako beast legal for high school baseball and tournament baseball for 15 year olds? Dylan
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is BBCOR ceritifed, so it is legal for high school baseball. Most likely it will be legal for tournament baseball as well, but every tournament has different rules, so you may just need to confirm those rules.
Tori
How does the Mako Beast BB17MK compare to the Easton Mako 2016 Drop 5 composite bat? Nbamom
They are of similar construction since they are both two-piece, full composite bats, but the BBCOR model will not have quite the pop or trampoline effect of the -5 model, simply because the BBCOR standard is a much lower performance factor than the USSSA standard that the -5 complies to.
Kyle J.
I am 170 lbs and 6 ft tall. What size bat should I get? rolo
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK in a 33 inch model.
Cameron
Can I use this bat in the cold? I have heard stuff about not using two-piece composite bats when it is cold outside. Liam Reutter
There is no specific temperature requirement for bats out there, but we here at JustBats generally recommend 45-50 degrees as about the cutoff to where you would want to use a backup practice bat or cheaper model to avoid any potential durability concerns.
Kyle J.
Is the bat balanced? Aaron Forest
Yes, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is a balanced bat.
Tyler
My son is 5'5" and weighs 114 at 10. He loved the Mako XL big barrel but outgrew it. Is this the new version of that bat? Looking to see what size and bat we should get based on what he loved. Kalie
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is a balanced two-piece composite model while the MAKO XL was an end-loaded two-piece composite model. Unfortunately Easton stopped making the two-piece composite end-loaded model in 2016; the bat your son was swinging was the last version of its kind. Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend swinging a 31 inch model. With his age being 10, a -10 length to weight ratio bat would be the most ideal but if you feel he can swing something heavier then there is certainly nothing wrong with that. The bat you mentioned, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK, is designed for high school and college age players.
Cameron
I am debating on getting this or the Marucci Cat 7. I am 5'11" and 155 pounds and more of a contact hitter, but still want a lot of pop. What bat should I get? jake
There is not much evidence to show that there would be more power within the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK compared to the Marucci CAT 7. What one will see with the MAKO is better vibration control (two-piece bat) and a more responsive bat in warmer weather (composite barrel bats respond and hold up better in 70 degrees Fahrenheit and above). With the Marucci CAT 7 one may get slightly better performance since it is a one-piece bat (stiffer on contact) and holds up better in colder weather.
Cameron
Which has more pop and which has less vibration? The Cat 7 or this bat? lit ritt
With both the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK and the 2017 Marucci CAT 7 BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBC7 being BBCOR certified, it would be hard to say one has more or less pop than the other. The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is a two piece bat, so it may offer slightly less vibration than the 2017 Marucci CAT 7 BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBC7. However, the Cat 7 features an anti vibration knob, so it doesn't have much vibration either.
Logan
My son is 13 moving up to BBCOR. He is 5'1" tall and 100 lbs. What length bat would you suggest? Baseball Dad
Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK in a 29 inch model. Unfortunately this bat will not be featured in a 29 inch size.
Cameron
I want a bat that will last me about 2-3 years. Can this bat last that long? Diego
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK is durable as long it is properly broken in and take care of. Longevity is based on many things including the growth of the player and proper care of bat. With proper care, a player can still out grow a bat.
Daveron
Do composite BBCOR bats need to be broken in? jpa
Composite BBCOR bats, such as the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK, do typically benefit from a break in period. Common guidelines for a great break in include 150-200 swings off a tee and/or soft toss while rotating the bat in between swings to ensure of an even break in around the barrel.
Logan
I was wondering if this bat is end-loaded or balanced? I'm looking for different types of bats for high school and I was honestly most interested in buying this one. Vinny
This would be considered a balanced bat.
Kyle J.
my son is going to be trying out for high school ball and he is 4' 8" 100lbs,would this be a good bat for him he usually uses a 30" drop 10 this would be his first BBCOR jimmy shoemaker
At your player's height and weight, I would suggest a 29" or 30" BBCOR bat, and the Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK has been one of the most popular and highest rated bats for the BBCOR standard since it was introduced. I think this would be a great, well balanced option for your player.
Logan
Is this bat allowed in Little League Junior Division? Ben Chapin
Intermediate (50/70) and Junior League divisions of Little League baseball allow the use of BBCOR certified bats, such as the Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK. This would include ages 11 and up.
Logan
Is this bat USA stamped? Bill
The Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK features the BBCOR stamp. This is the certification standard for high school and collegiate players. However, most leagues that require a USA stamped bat allow BBCOR as well, at least in the older divisions. We always recommend confirming with a coach or league official for allowed bats.
Daveron
Can this bat (30 in -3) be used for USSSA tournaments (12 and 13 U)? Jeff
This Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) would be allowed for a 12U or 13U player participating in USSSA governed tourney.
Ben
My son will be transitioning into Babe Ruth 13-15 year old league. Is this the right bat for their bat rules? Matthew Carmichael
Yes, in Babe Ruth 13 -15, they allow BBCOR bats. So the Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK would be legal.
