Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is there a real difference between this bat and the Easton FS3 FP16S312? If so what? My daughter currently uses the FP16S312 31in drop 12, is there a benefit or harm going to a lighter bat? My daughter is 5-11 and weighs 81 pounds. Mike
The main difference between the 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP17HL12) and the 2016 Easton FS3 CXN ZERO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP16S312) is the type of composite used. The Hyperlight uses the HYPERLITE Composite while the FS3 uses the IMX Advanced Composite Barrel. They are very comparable in feel and performance. It is really just personal preference if she wants to go with the lighter option. There is not necessarily any benefit or harm, just what that individual player prefers.
Carter
I purchased the FS3 last year for my daughter in 28"/16 oz. It actually weighed right at 18 oz. As well, she complained that it stung her hands and it was heavy. (1) Is the Hyperlite closer to the listed weight? (2) Is the Hyperlite forgiving (in regard to vibration reduction)? Mike
(1) It is almost industry standard that bats will have a static weight around 0.5 oz to 1.5 oz over the listed weight (sometimes even more). I would imagine that this 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP17HL12) will have a static weight that is at least 1.5 oz over the listed weight. (2) Typically, the 2-piece bats do a solid job of limiting vibration. As well, we haven't gotten any bad remarks yet on vibration being emitted from this bat on miss-hits.
Ben
Does it come in composite 33 x 23 and 2 1/4? hailey bop
The 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 is a -12 bat, so a 33" would weigh 21 ounces. The 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 is a composite bat, and features a 2 1/4" barrel diameter.
Logan
I have a 14 and 16 year old who are playing high school, 5"5 and weigh 140 to 160 lbs. What bat would you suggest? Dean
We would recommend a 33"/21 ounce 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 for both payers.
Carter
I have a 15 year old who is 5'4' 108 lbs. Playing freshman high school softball. What bat would you recommend? liv
Based off the information you've provided, I would recommend the 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 in a 32/20. If you think this bat will be too light, I would recommend the 2017 Easton Stealth Flex -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17SF11 which also features a two-piece, fully composite design, but will be one ounce heavier.
Dan
I have an 8 1/2 year old who is about 4'10" tall and roughly 65 lbs. What size/weight would she need? Britt
We would probably suggest a 30" length for her height and weight. As for weight of the bat, we can't really recommend that as things like strength and other factors affect that, but generally -10 to -12 are the most common drops for that age.
Kyle J.
My daughter is 10 y/o and is 58" and 105 lbs. She currently uses a 30" -12 aluminum bat. Her bat speed is not great but we're working on getting more lower body action into her swing. We are considering this bat or the Easton Stealth Flex FP17SF11 at 31" length. Any recommendations? JP
Based on what you have told us about your daughter and her height and weight we would recommend a 31"/19 ounce 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 for her.
Carter
My daughter used an Easton CXN 30 drop 12. last year. She is in 8th grade grew a couple of inches and needs a new bat. While still on the small side (4"9' and 96 lbs) she has a really sound swing and very good power for her size. We are looking for a bat with serious power to help her pop. Thinking of the Hyperlite 32 drop 12. Thoughts? Joe
This 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 is a solid option for your player. However, I would recommend going with a heavier option if you are looking for additional power. Maybe check out the 2017 Easton Stealth Flex -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17SF11.
Tyler
My daughter is 12 years old, 5'5, and 95lbs. Do you recommend this bat or the Louisville Xeno Plus? Ron
Based off the information you've provided, I would recommend swinging a 32" bat. Both the 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 and the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 are excellent options. I would take your players strength into account when deciding between these two bats. Both the Hyperlite and the Xeno Plus feature two-piece, composite construction with balanced swing weights. However, the Hyperlite will be two ounces lighter than the Xeno Plus.
Dan
My daughter will turn 11 in June and this will be her 1st year playing fastpitch softball. She's approximately 5'3" and 130 lbs what bat would you recommend? 1st time hitter
I would recommend the 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 in a 32 inch bat length. I think the -12 drop weight will benefit a player just starting out because of the lighter feel.
Dan
My daughter is 11, and she currently uses a 29'' 17 oz. I want to upgrade her bat. I was wondering will this bat with its weight have a faster swing even though it weighs 1 oz more than her old bat? She is 55' tall and weighs 60 lbs. She is very lightweight, and needs a faster swing with pop for her size. Bella
The 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 is a two-piece, evenly balanced bat so it can be very beneficial to someone who needs help with swing speed. Since you are moving her up in weight, I would recommend staying at a 29'' bat. As long as she is strong enough to handle the extra ounce, it will definitely be beneficial to have a balanced bat with some extra weight.
Tori
Do you recommend this bat in a 30" or the Xeno -11 in a 28"? clint
Both bats are excellent models, but I would probably lean towards the Louisville Slugger Xeno over the Easton Hyperlite myself, but both are good choices.
Kyle J.
My granddaughter is 11 yrs, 5'4" 110 lbs. She uses a Rawlings Storm. She's getting the bat on the ball every time up but if they play back she's having a problem getting the ball out of the infield. gerry
The 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 is a great bat that we have received really good feedback on. I would also recommend she use a 32'' bat if she is not already.
Tori
I bought this bat for my daughter at Christmas and it has a rattle inside. Does that mean it is cracked? Pat
This 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP17HL12) will feature a full 12 month manufacturer's warranty period from Easton. The bat isn't cracked, but rattles are covered under that warranty period. If your bat was purchased from JustBats, please call us at 866-321-2287 and we can help you start the warranty process with Easton.
Ben
Is this a good bat for my 12U going into 14U? I don't want to buy a bat she outgrows in 1 season. softball mom
I think the 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP17HL12) would be a good option for your 12U player, especially if she is more comfortable with a lighter bat. If you anticipate your player to grow in the next few years, you might consider getting a heavier bat, like this 2017 Easton Stealth Flex -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP17SF11).
Taylor
My daughter is 11, plays in 12u and she uses an Axe bat, 31"/19 oz. What would a good composite bat for her that's not expensive? adam
The cheapest, best model would probably be the 2017 or 2018 Easton Hyperlite.
Kyle J.
How does the Eaton Stealth Hyperlite -12 compare to the Louisville Slugger X12? Which of the two bats would you recommend? Snapperny
Both of these bats will be similar in that they are softball bats made entirely with composite materials. This 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 stands out by offering an optimized sweet spot, and a connection point to minimize vibrations on contact.
Tyler
Will you re-grip for a lefty? Phil
Unfortunately, we do not apply any bats grips here at JustBats. You can always purchase a bat grip and apply it yourself to this 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12.
Tyler
My sister plays high school softball, would this bat be suitable for her? Jeff
The 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 would not be suitable for a high school player as this bat would be too light. A better option would be the 2019 Easton Prowess -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP19PR10.
Cameron
Is this bat legal for California high school? Richard Sakaniwa
Yes, the Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 is legal for high school play in California.
Tori
My daughter is 9, her height is 5'8” and weight is 130 lbs. What size bat would you recommend? Jessica
We would probably recommend a 32" or 33" length for her height and weight.
Kyle J.
Are these approved for high school in Florida? Randy
The Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP17HL12 is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, SSUSA, and ISF governing bodies, so it will be legal for play in Florida High School Softball.
Logan
Looking for a bat for high school varsity level, and looking at a size 33"/21 oz. Would this bat work at that level? Randal
This bat should certainly work for that level. However, if you consistently face very high velocity pitching, I would probably recommend a heavier bat like a -11 or -10 model, as sometimes lighter models do not hold up well once the velocities reach higher speeds.
Kyle
