Description

New from DeMarini for The DeMarini Voodoo series has been a constant in baseball bat bags across the nation since its release. This year, DeMarini has made it so that more players can use one of the top hybrid construction baseball bats on the market. They've taken the famous end loaded version that power hitters have come to love, now called the Voodoo Insane, and have added a balanced option, named the Voodoo. With the all new X14 alloy, this beast of a bat is hotter than ever. The X14 alloy has been upgraded for enhanced variable wall thickness which allows DeMarini to distribute the weight in different ways to provide more pop and two different feels. Additionally, it optimizes KSI yield strength for maximum performance day in and day out. As with other DeMarini bats, the D-Fusion 2.0 handle will allow you to get more boom out of every swing by redirecting negative vibration back into the barrel. On the other end, the low pro end cap optimizes the swing weight and provides the ultimate sound and feel through the barrel during every at bat. DeMarini: Power Of Choice!

This DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVBC features a -3 length to weight ratio, a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter, and the BBCOR certification for high school and collegiate play. Furthermore, this baseball bat is balanced and backed by a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty. Buy it - you won't be disappointed Jak D parent

Pros: Replaced my son's CF6 with this bat a couple weeks ago - he loves the balance of this bat - and of course the pop is so much better than a CF6 that has hit thousands of baseballs - high marks all across the board

Cons: Don't know about durability as he just received two - weeks ago - other than that a great bat for the money.

Pros: Pop, Balance & Feel are "Unreal", says my son. Apparently the majority of his H.S. team think the same! I've counted no less than 7 hitters using it in our games this week .

Great two piece Andrew Helfer parent

Pros: Bat has plenty of pop. Alloy barrel can be used in colder spring weather. Composite handle and two piece design reduces sting on mis-hits. Very balanced, gets around quickly.

Cons: Reduced one star for General Feel because the narrow grip doesn't suit my player. Nothing a Lizard Skin couldn't improve, but keeps the bat from being perfect out of the wrapper.

How does this bat and the Voodoo Overlord 2015 compare? Jason
This 2017 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVBC) will be a little different than the 2015 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD FT BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVDC). This 2017 Voodoo features new X14 alloy that is designed to perform higher. As well, this 2017 Voodoo will be balanced swinging while the 2015 Voodoo OVERLORD was end-loaded.
Ben
How does this Voodoo compare to last years Raw model? baseballdad
The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVBC features a new alloy and a balanced swing weight. The balanced swing weight will make this Voodoo lighter swinging than the end loaded Voodoo Raw from last year.
Jason
How does this bat compare to the Rawlings Velo? TerryJ
The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVBC has a hybrid construction with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. This two-piece design allows for additional barrel flex that creates more of a trampoline effect. The 2017 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7V has a one-piece alloy construction that will be more stiff. Both bats have a balanced swing weight with similar durability and performance.
Angelique
How will this compare to the 2014 Voodoo Paradox? Also, is this model's handle thicker than last year's handle? S
The DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVDC), the Paradox, is going to be the typical Voodoo that people have known for years. It will be a hybrid bat. It will have the composite handle with an aluminum barrel and is going to be an end loaded bat. This new 2017 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVBC) is actually going to be the first balanced VooDoo. The Paradox used the X10 Alloy for the aluminum barrel while this 2017 Voodoo is going to use the new X14 Alloy. With all that being said, the main difference to remember is that this 2017 DeMarini Voodoo is going to be balanced while the DeMarini Voodoo Paradox feature a slight end load.
Carter
(1) How long is the barrel on the 2017 Demarini Voodoo balanced in comparison to the 2017 Demarini Voodoo Insane? (2) Also, when will you start carrying the 2017 Demarini Voodoo Insane? Matt B.

Ben
This isn't a question about this bat specifically, but what's a good starting BBCOR bat? willy
Tough to say what would be a good starting BBCOR bat. A lot comes down to length/weight that is needed and the price point one is seeking. When a bat is purchased will play a part as well as most BBCOR bats begin to go on sale around April-July.
Cameron
What are the performance differences between the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo One which is all aluminum and the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo which has a composite handle? nick
The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVBC is a two-piece bat and will offer more flex making it a better choice for contact hitters. The Voodoo One is a one-piece and will have a stiff feel making it a better choice for power hitters.

Will this bat be able to be used when bat rules change in 2018? Caleb
The new USA Baseball standard will not effect BBCOR certified bats as it is specifically for youth bats. The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVBC will be allowed for use in 2018.
Angelique
Will this Voodoo or the Zen be better for me? I am a contact and power hitter. king
Both the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVBC) and the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCBC) are going to be high quality bats and it is going to come down to personal preference. Whether you prefer aluminum or composite bats. The Voodoo is going to be the aluminum option while the Zen is going to be the composite option.
Carter

The 2017 DeMarini bat that will be most similar to last year's Voodoo RAW would be the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Insane BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVIC. The main difference between the two will be the alloy barrel as the 2017 model utilizes X14 alloy while the RAW used X12.

Kyle J.
How does this bat compare to the Easton MAKO? Laxdadtoo
This 2017 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVBC) is a hybrid baseball bat. It will have a two-piece design combining a composite handle and an alloy barrel. The MAKO is a little different as it has a two-piece design, but both the handle and the barrel are made of composite material.
Ben
How long is the barrel? Is it the same length as the 917 Prime? paul recardo jr
This 2017 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVBC) will have a barrel length around 15.5" (measuring from the end-cap to the connection point). That length will probably be slightly longer than what is featured on the Prime 917 BBCOR bat.
Ben
Trying to choose between the Voodoo and Voodoo One. They appear to be similarly balanced with an alloy barrel for cold weather. Given the composite handle of the Voodoo, will that bat have more pop? Is that why it is a little more expensive than the One? JJ
The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVBC is a two-piece bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel, whereas the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVOC is a one piece balanced model. The biggest difference will be reduced vibration for the two-piece model. It is more expensive because of the two-piece design.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
