Too good to b true Disappointed Dad parent

Pros: Staight out of the wrapper this bat was hot. Awesome pop, great sound, and my 12U son never complained about the vibration. He really enjoyed it for the 2 weeks we used it.

Cons: Couldn't believe it when the bat cracked after only 2 weeks with it. Pay $350 and this is what I get. Sending it back asap but now scared that the replacement will turn out the same. And I know they only offer 1 replacement so I'm not even sure i want it anymore. Wish I could get my money back.

Concerned Jack player

Pros: No break in & great out of the box, great pop, awesome sweet spot, balanced and smooth.

Cons: Had a CF8 (-8) that cracked after a month of use. Demarini replaced it under warranty with the new Zen. I was pumped!! After a month of use, the Zen cracked. I called DeMarini and they are sending me another replacement because it failed so quickly. Not sure if there is a durability issue, but after 2 bats cracking after only a month of use...I am nervous about the longevity of this bat. If nothing else, high accolades to Demarini for doing right and offering me a second replacement. Heading into the off season now so may pick up another bat for winter conditioning. Would hate to damage the new replacement during the off season.

Don't waste your money Scott coach

Pros: Lots of pop

Cons: On our third CF8. Purchased new bat in March 2016 - cracked in less than two weeks. Sent it back for replacement and the bat was on back order. Didnt't receive replacement the until mid June. Bat cracked again after two tournaments. They sent replacement 2017 model in October - new 2 5/8 Zen model. Not confident it will last as one of our other players on the team purchased and it cracked after 3 weeks.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini CF Zen Senior League Baseball Bat: DXCBR? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I had a good experience with the -10, 2 3/4" 2016 DeMarini CF8 DXCFZ, but my son lost it. Which 2017 DeMarini model replaces that bat? Prince
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen Balanced Senior League Baseball Bat: DXCBZ is the new model of the 2016 DeMarini CF8 Senior League Baseball Bat: DXCFZ. They both are two-piece, fully composite bats with a balanced swing weight, 2 3/4" barrel diameter, and a -10 length to weight ratio.
Angelique
What advantages does the new ParaFlex Composite provide for this bat? Midland
This 2017 DeMarini CF Zen Senior League Baseball Bat (DXCBR) features the new ParaFlex Composite material on it. That Paraflex Composite material makes the material on the barrel stronger (more durable), allows for more flex in the barrel at contact and also allows for more performance off the bat.
Ben
Does the CF Zen need to be broken in, and if so what would you suggest? BMan
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen Senior League Baseball Bat: DXCBR will not require a break-in, it will be hot out of the wrapper.
Cameron
Several of the reviews state that bat has cracked with just a short amount of use. Is this a problem you have seen and/or has DeMarini informed you of any problems with this bat? Very interested in purchasing this bat but a little concerned given the price. Concerned Dad
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen Senior League Baseball Bat: DXCBR does not show show nearly the amount of warranty issues as the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen Balanced Senior League Baseball Bat: DXCBZ. The 2 3/4" barrel bats in general have slightly thinner barrel walls and this is what leads to the bats becoming defective quicker. Bats that feature a 2 5/8" barrel are not as prone to becoming defective in a short amount of time.
Cameron
Is this bat only recommended for use when temperatures are higher than 65 degrees outside? Kyle
It is best to use the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen Senior League Baseball Bat: DXCBR, and really any bat on the market, in temperatures above 55 degrees.
Jason
Is this a BBCOR bat? joey
No, the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen Senior League Baseball Bat: DXCBR is not a BBCOR bat.
Tori
My son has been swinging the 29"/18 oz CF6 (2-1/4" barrel) for about 1.5 years. I'm looking to buy him a new bat. He is 12, about 5'3" and 75 lbs. I'm interested in the CF Zen 29"/21 oz (2-5/8"). Is this too big of a jump? RMG
I think that your player should be able to make the jump from the 29"/18 oz bat to this 2017 DeMarini CF Zen Senior League Baseball Bat (DXCBR) in the 29"/21 oz size. It may create a little bit of an adjustment period at the beginning, but he will be able to grow into that size just fine. If you wanted the -8 bat to last the longest, I might even recommend looking to the 30"/22 oz (not a requirement, just something to think about).
Ben
Does the DXCB5 come in 31 drop 8? bill
The DXCB5 is the -5 model of the DeMarini CF Zen. For the CF Zen in a -8 you would need to look at the DXCBR. http://www.justbats.com/product/2017-demarini-cf-zen-senior-league-baseball-bat--dxcbr/24943/
John
For my 11 year old, 55 inch, 65 pound son, should I buy this bat in 30"/22oz, or the DeMarini CF Zen -10 30"/20oz? Rachel
Unfortunately weight of a bat is very hard for us to recommend, as there are too many factors we aren't aware of that affect that decision. Things such as the player's strength, his swing efficiency, if he chokes up or not, what weight they are used to, and other things affect this decision. You want to use the heaviest bat that the player can still swing with good bat speed.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
