New from DeMarini for For the past 28 years, DeMarini has delivered nothing but the best in terms of quality and innovation. They refuse to settle and continuously stay ahead of the curve with their technology and materials. The CF Zen is no exception as DeMarini has done it yet again. Their combination of state-of-the-art technology and the highest quality materials comes together to create the most powerful, lightest swinging bat to date. This elite design was made for an elite hitter. The beautifully crafted CF Zen balanced baseball bat starts with the brand-new ParaFlex Composite Barrel Dynamic Fiber Orientation which delivers maximum performance and an enhanced sweet spot. With 22% stronger carbon fibers, DeMarini's engineers have met the needs of more hitters while increasing the strength and durability. Additionally, it provides hot out of the wrapper performance that continues to improve with each and every swing. The elegantly designed D-Fusion 2.0 Handle is back which has proven time and time again that it reduces vibration while redirecting energy back into the barrel for more confidence at the plate and longer ball flights. On the other end, the Low Pro end cap optimizes the swing weight and provides the ultimate sound and feel throughout the barrel during each swing. Similar to that of the other CF designs, this one is a two-piece, fully composite design with an extremely well-balanced swing weight. Rest assured that this CF Zen will put you in a total state of focus that incorporates a total togetherness of body and mind. DeMarini: Power To The Player!

Best DeMarini Bat Max Macentosh player

Pros: This bat is by far the best bat DeMarini has made, It has amazing pop, the General feel is great, The durability is fantastic because I've been swinging it all winter and it still feels new. There is no vibration what so ever and it is just overall a great bat.

Cons: The only con I can think of is that it costs $450 but if you are looking for a top tier bat that is worth the money then you've found the right one.

Lightest Swing Weight BBCOR Bat JMS parent

Pros: Was seeking balanced feeling replacement BBCOR/high school bat for my 15 year old son after Easton recently discontinued his favorite S1 model. This new CF Zen is hands down the most balanced BBCOR bat I have ever felt. Feels much lighter in your hand then -3 rating and has a super balanced swing weight. Like an Easton S1 but with more barrel.

Cons: Smallish knob is not a negative just worth mentioning since it is a little different them most conventional designs. Also not a negative but just be aware that it won't last forever. Have owned previous DeMarini CF composite models and they are good for a few seasons depending on reps and care/conditions.

Great Bat Sam W. parent

Pros: Bought this bat for my 13 yr old son who plays on a Triple A Team. He claims he is now ready to hit for the cycle every game since he has used this bat. We'll see!!!

Cons: Price was a bit steep but that is my only drawback so far.

Pros: EXCEPTIONAL BAT!!! Well balanced, insane pop out of wrapper, nice details and graphics. Bat feels good from stance to contact per my son. 13U player

Wonderful bat Demarini convert parent

Pros: The center of mass on this bat is nearly two inches closer toward the hands when compared to a Marucci Cat 7. Using a diamond kinetics swing tracker, the acceleration and power metrics are both improved by double-digit percentage points. Back-to-back distance off of a tee also shows the CF's advantage over the Cat 7. Especially for someone looking for a balanced bat, this is a great choice. The knob and flare of the handle are also very comfortable. We rated 'pop' as a 3 because, especially for a BBCOR, there is really no discernible difference from bat to bat.

Cons: The elephant in the room....it's over $400. I prefer the grip on an Easton or the Marucci Cat 7 too.

CF Zen Cole Barnes player

Pros: Good pop, you don't really feel anything so it is a more flexible bat. The ball jumps when you hit it in the sweet spot

Cons: The ball just dies if you hit it anywhere besides the sweet spot, sweet spot isn't truly as large as they say. Not incredibly balanced compared to bats like the Slugger Prime 617 or COMBAT or Rawlings Velo Models. My bat broke somehow when hit right in the sweet spot and didn't go anywhere, it could've been the weather but it is odd for a $450 bat to do that.

Good bat but broke after a month's use Mitchell Vincent player

Pros: This is a great bat. Very balanced and has nice hit action and pop.

Cons: It broke after only 1 month's use. It cracked and something inside is now rattling around. It does have a 12 month warranty but you really have to jump through hoops to return it with DeMarini. It takes a long time after you return the bat to get a "store credit" and then you have to reorder it and have it shipped. In the mean time you are without a bat that cost $449. Not good in the middle of baseball season.

Bat is excellent - manufacturer/warranty issue NorCal baseball family parent

Pros: Great feel and solid pop, no vibration into the handle, very balanced swing weight, sounds crisp and sweet spot seems larger than previous CF models.

Cons: My son hit a line drive to left off the end of the bat - ball went to left field and half of the end cap went to 2nd base. Warranty claim was submitted along with follow-up emails and calls, no contact from Demarini in over a month with only a week or two left in my sons high school career since he is a senior. The bat is good, but after the purchase customer service has been unacceptable. To say he is disappointed to not be able to use his bat would be an understatement. With tax included, this has ended-up being almost $500 down the drain. Very upsetting for a parent who is also a player and has been a Demarini supporter for over 20 years.

Good bat Lance player

Pros: This bat feels incredibly light and is a very good bat if you are patient.

Cons: When I bought this bat I was very excited to break it out of the box and go swing it. Well I was wrong when I first used it it felt dead and just terrible. As I have swung the bat it has gotten better so we went to multiple bat experts and they all said the same thing. The CF Zen has to be broken in and then it will be good. They also said it is "Cold out of the box" as in the pop will get better as you use it and hit the ball on different parts of the bat. They told us that Easton and Louisville Slugger bats are "hot" and they are ready to go right out of the box with all the pop. So if you are going to buy this bat I suggest you be patient and get lots of work in with the bat before you're season starts.

Best Pop in the BBCOR Class Jeremy Eison coach

Pros: Pop right out of the wrapper. Huge sweet spot. Looks great. More balanced than the insane. No vibration. Durability seems better than previous non BBCOR zen that I used. My son made the switch to BBCOR and while there are obvious differences in sound and feel, this Zen just further reinforces my love for Demarini.

Cons: Price. But, you get what you pay for. Got this for $100 less thanks to just bats.

Pros: Balanced feel, massive sweet spot, good pop, looks great. Lots of jealous teammates.

Cons: developed a rattle in the barrel after only 4 weeks of use. Umpire says we can't use it. Returning to DeMarini for warranty coverage, but unless we want it back after the season ends, had to send it next day air. I coulda really used that $170 next day shipping cost on something else.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What's the difference between this bat and DeMarini's other new bat and the cf8? I've been trying to decide which ones a better pick for me. nick
The new 2017 DeMarini CF Zen Balanced BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC, there is also the CF Zen End Load, will have the new ParaFlex composite barrel dynamic fiber orientation for max performance, feel, & durability. This will make the bat feel lighter than the CF8 model and will also not require any break-in. The CF Zen End Load will have a slightly different weight distribution and would be a great option for a hitter who hits for power and has a strong top hand.
Cameron
Is the grip nearest to the knob thicker then the CF8? Could you make it so it is like the CF8 grip? baseball101
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen Balanced BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC seems to have a slightly thicker grip at the handle/knob than the CF8 model. We are not sure if this can be changed or not and the only way to find out would be to remove the grip tape and then either re-grip it with an after market grip or see if there is something that DeMarini is placing near the knob to make the grip thicker.
Cameron
Does the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen bat need to be broken-in before use? King Muggs
This 2017 DeMarini CF Zen Balanced BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCBC) should be pretty ready for use right out of the package. If any break-in is needed to get the bat ready to display game-ready performance, it should only consist of a day of use that includes some BP and tee work.
Ben
If I buy this bat, but it is too heavy for me and has not been used, can I exchange it for a different size? PurplePeopleEater
As long as the bat is unused and hasn't made contact with a baseball, you can return it to us for a full refund or exchange it for another model or size.
Angelique
Does the CF Insane have a longer barrel than the CF Zen, despite it being end-loaded? tulo
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC and the CF Insane have the same barrel length and sweet spot size.
Jason
What is the difference between the CF Zen and the Voodoo Balanced? Dave
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC is a two-piece 100% composite bat while the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Balanced BBCOR is a two-piece hybrid bat (alloy barrel / composite handle).
Marcus
If I'm 6 ft and weigh 155 pounds and am going into 9th grade, what size should I get? kam
Based on your height and weight we would recommend you swing a 33/30. But this is definitely just a recommendation and if a 33/30 feels to heavy, or light, you can defiantly move to a 32/29 or a 34/31.
Carter
Which has a lighter swing weight, the CF Zen or MAKO BEAST? Chance
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCBC) and the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17MK) are going to feature very balanced designs and both are going to have light swing weights. The Zen is going to have the Low Pro End Cap which optimizes weight, feel, & compression throughout barrel. The Mako Beast is going to feature an extremely low MOI which will help it be extremely balanced.
Carter
Is this basically the same bat as the CF8 from last year? 1down2togo
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC is the newest version of the DeMarini CF model line. The new Para-Flex Composite in the barrel makes the bat 22% stronger than the CF8 and allows for optimum flex.
Marcus
Should this bat not be used below a certain temperature? Dad
Any metal bat will perform better in warmer temperatures. With the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC being a composite barrel bat it would be wise to use in temperatures exceeding 70 degrees Fahrenheit. It can certainly be used in less favorable conditions but could experience durability issues quicker than usual especially when the temperatures drop below 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cameron
I noticed some of the CF Zens have different knobs then others. Why is that? Jim
All of the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR (DXCBC) bats have the same RCK Knob on them that fits the hand well for a comfortable grip.
Kyle J.
What's better in terms of barrel length, the Easton MAKO BEAST or the DeMarini CF Zen? john
Both the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen (DXCBC) and the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST (BB17MK) will have long barrels with very large sweet spots, and the two will both be very comparable performance-wise.
Kyle J.
Which bat would be better for a power hitter who is 6 feet and 165 pounds? The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC, or the 2017 Marruci CAT 7 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC7? Jim
Typically power hitters prefer a more stiff feel for maximum energy transfer such as a one-piece, aluminum bat like the 2017 Marruci CAT 7 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC7. The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC is a top bat on the market as well and can be used by both power and contact hitters. It will have a more flexible feel with its two-piece design that will allow for additional barrel flex which helps to increase trampoline effect.
Angelique
Why is it that most people say power hitters prefer one piece bats for the energy transfer? Does this mean a one piece hits the ball better for power? Jacob
One-piece bats provide little or no give and have a stiff feel when contact is made with the ball. Due to the fact that one-piece bats have a very minimal amount of flex at contact, little or no energy is lost which results in more power. For this reason, one-piece bats are preferred by stronger players with above average bat speed such as a power hitter. Two-piece bats provide more flex at contact with the ball. The two-piece construction creates a 'whip' effect that results in an increase in bat speed. An increase in bat speed results in an increase in power. For this reason players with average or below average bat speed such as a contact hitter, prefer two-piece bats .
Carter
Is this bat a drop 3 and is it half and half? Jonathan
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCBC) is a -3 and it is a 2 piece composite bat. So the handle and the barrel are both going to be composite.
Carter
Which bat has more pop and balance, the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR or the 2017 Louisville Slugger Prime 917 BBCOR? Juan
Both of these bats are gong to be very comparable and both very high end bats. They will have similar performance. I would give the edge to the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCBC) on balance through, with it being more balanced.
Carter
My son is 6'1" and 160 lbs. What bat size do you recommend? Papo
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 33" model in the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC.
Jason
Do you think this bat is good for an 11 year old that plays middle school baseball and travel baseball? Preston
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen is one of the most popular bats currently on the market. It has a two-piece, fully composite construction with a balanced swing weight which is generally preferred by youth players. More than likely, you will need a senior league model depending on the bat rules and regulations for the leagues you are playing in.
Angelique
I am looking between these two bats. My son is 6'2: and 180 lbs and has a exit velo of 91 mph. Should he be looking at a one piece bat or 2 piece composite? Al
It is really a matter of personal preference of whether or not someone would want a one piece bat or a two piece bat. Both the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCBC) and the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVOC) are great bats and you really cannot go wrong either way. Here is a good article that helps with deciding between a one piece bat or a two piece bat - http://blog.justbats.com/blog/index.php/3166/one-piece-vs-two-piece-bats
Carter
Does DeMarini make a 32/27 end loaded bat? I know they make the Insane Balanced but would prefer an end loaded bat as 32/29 is too heavy. mike
Unfortunately no, we do not carry any DeMarini models that are end loaded in the 32"/27oz size.
Kyle J.
Were is the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen (Balanced) BBCOR (-3) bat made? seb
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC are made in the China.
Cameron
I'm looking to purchase the DeMarini CF Zen. I am 6 ft tall and I prefer to swing a 32 inch balanced bat. Would you recommend this? Daniel P
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC would make a great bat for someone looking for a balanced bat. This bat features a two-piece, fully composite construction and is one of the more balanced bats currently on the market.
Cameron
I'm looking to upgrade from the Rawlings Velo for my son who will be playing high school next year. Would you consider 2017 DeMarini CF Zen to be a huge upgrade? Alan
The Rawlings Velo is a very high quality bat so I would not say the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCBC) is a "huge" upgrade. It is however a very high quality bat and the CF series has been one of the most popular series around for many years. I would highly recommend it.
Carter
Is the CF Zen BBCOR bat USSSA stamped? CoachJ
This 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCBC) will be BBCOR certified and even though it does not feature USSSA certification, it will still be allowed in USSSA tourneys (due to the certification for BBCOR bats being stricter than USSSA).
Ben
Would you prefer a MAKO Beast BBCOR, a DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR, or Louisville Slugger Prime 917 BBCOR? Which is the most durable, can be most trusted, and has the most pop? Ken Adams
All three of these bats, the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC, 2017 Louisville Slugger Prime 917 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBP9173 and 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK are great two-piece fully composite bats with balanced swing weights to consider. Since all three of these bats are 2017 models it is tough to say which of these bats might perform better or offer greater durability. At the end of the day, BBCOR bats are all very similar when it comes to pop (the testing standards make it tough for a bat to significantly outperform competitors) so it really comes down to what manufacturer the consumer trusts.
Cameron
Is DeMarini making both a balanced and end-loaded version of the CF Zen (if so, how do I tell the difference?), or is the CF Insane the end-loaded version? Brenk
DeMarini did make both, and end-loaded and balanced model but the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC is the end-loaded model and the DeMarini CF ZEN is the balanced mdoel.
Cooper
I am 13, 6'3" and 160 pounds and I play for a travel team where all of my opponents are older than me. I'm looking for an upgrade from my 2015 Easton XL1. I'm conflicted between getting the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen (BBCOR) or the 2016 DeMarini Vexxum NVS (also BBCOR). Which bat do you recommend, and if neither, which brand/model? Ace
Both the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC and the 2016 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVXC are great bats to consider from DeMarini. They will be slightly different in construction with the Zen being a two-piece fully composite model with a balanced swing weight while the Vexxum will be a hybrid design with an alloy barrel and composite handle - it too will also be balanced. Reviews show that both bats have been great from a performance and durability standpoint. If playing in warmer weather consistently then the Zen might perform a little better as composite material bats tend to get hotter with 72+ degree weather. If playing in colder climates then we would recommend getting the Vexxum as alloy barrels show better durability.
Cameron
Caomparing the Louisville Slugger Prime 917 to the Zen Balance. What bat is better overall? simon
Both the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC and the 2017 LS Prime 917 are greats bats to consider when looking at two-piece fully composite bats with balanced swing weights. Hard to say which one would be significantly better than the other. Would recommend reviewing customer reviews to get a better gauge of each product.
Cameron
Is it better to go heavier or lighter when buying this bat, or any bats? Schoep4
The correct weight really depends on what you are comfortable with and what you have used in the past. The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC is a balanced bat, so it will be a better fir for contact hitters.
Tori
Which is a "hotter" bat - the DeMarini Zen or the Easton Beast? pbj
With BBCOR bats being so highly regulated, there is not a bat out there that is significantly hotter than the others. The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC may feature a more balanced swing weight design compared to the BEAST.
Cameron
What's the difference between the Voodoo and this? Tye Baseball
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC is a two-piece fully composite bat and the DeMarini Vooodoo is a two-piece hybrid bat, meaning it has an alloy barrel and composite handle.
Logan
Is the DeMarini CF Zen DXCBC end loaded or balanced or is the Insane the end loaded version of the Zen? beast baseball
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC is a balanced two-piece fully composite bat. If seeking the end loaded model then one would want that which contains "Insane" in the product heading. If one sees "Insane" in any 2017 models from DeMarini then these bats would be end loaded.
Cameron
Does the "Insane" version contain more pop than the balanced CF Zen? Drake
It does not have more pop, but it ultimately depends on the type of player to determine which one would provide you with the best performance. The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC has more of a balanced swing weight and it is typically best suited for a contact hitter. The CF Insane model features an end loaded design and it is typically best suited for a power hitter.
Jason
Is this bat USSSA approved? Gabe
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC is stamped with BBCOR approval and as such does not feature the USSSA stamp.
Cameron
Am I allowed to use this bat in USSSA tournaments? Gabe
Yes, this 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCBC) should be allowed for use in USSSA tournaments since it has the BBCOR .50 certification which is stricter in its performance allowance than what is allowed off USSSA 1.15 BPF bats.

This 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCBC) will be the exact same bat as the Delta Force Zero Dark CF ZEN BBCOR in its construction. The only difference will be cosmetics.
Ben
My son has a 31 inch DeMarini CF6 Paradox Composite that he has loved but now needs to upgrade and I'm looking at the Zen as he is a contact hitter. He has also grown quite a bit in a short time. He is now 5'7" and 178 lbs and should be moved up to a 33" but I'm nervous as he would go from 28 ounces to 30. Should I consider a 32" or is he just to big and does he need to be using a 33"? Tommy Hawk
We would suggest a 32" or a 33" bat, either one would be fine. Some other factors to consider are how far he stands from the plate, if he ever chokes up or not, etc.
Kyle J.

Logan
Is the 2017 Demarini Zen bat better or more in demand than the 2017 Insane? What are pros and cons on both bats? stacey
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC is in higher demand due to its balanced swing weight. The Insane is generally for strictly power hitters. Since there isn't as many true power hitters as more average players, the balanced Zen is more popular. The CF Zen will offer the ability to create more bat speed, whereas the CF Insane will offer more mass behind the ball for more power and greater distances if the player can handle the added swing weight.
Logan

If you are a power hitter and feel you can handle the end-load model, then the Insane will work great for you. If you are more of a contact hitter who likes a well balanced model, then the standard CF Zen will suit your style more.
Kyle J.
Which bat is better, this bat or the CAT 7? patrick
The Marucci Cat 7 has better user ratings from our customers compared to the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it is better than the CF Zen. It depends on the batter and their personal preference.

Do you have to break-in the CF Zen? Isaac
The 2017 DeMarini CF Zen BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXCBC is pretty hot out of the wrapper and it does not necessarily require a break-in period. However, we feel it will still benefit from a small break-in period of about 100 swings. It is best to take those swings off a tee while rotating the barrel a quarter turn every few swings and gradually working your swing speed up to 100%.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
