A solid bat Tiffany S player

Pros: Like the previous two years, the z4 is a solid bat. Its a solid all around bat that is great for players of all skill level. The bat has a large sweet spot and makes a satisfying and distinct sound. It has the same texture on the barrel that the previous year had. Overall its solid bat for the price.

Cons: Break in time seems longer than most other bats. Power hitters might not get the pop they are looking for in the bat. Like last year, the grip does take a little getting used to. Some players like it, while others do not

Is the Z4 good for .44/375 softballs? doug
Unfortunately, no bats (ASA or USSSA) have been made for use with the (.44 COR/375 Comp) balls since the 2014 year began. This 2016 Louisville Slugger Z4 Balanced ASA/USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (WTLZ4A16B) would display great performance with the (.44 COR/375 Comp) balls, but the durability would be lower since the (.44 COR/375 Comp) balls are harder and the Z4 is not meant to be used with a ball that is that hard.
Ben
What would be the most durable bat in your opinion if using a .44/375 softball? coach a
Unfortunately, no softball bats are made for the .44/375 ball any longer. That ball is a little harder than what is being recommend for this 2016 Louisville Slugger Z4 Balanced ASA/USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (WTLZ4A16B) or any other bat out there currently. If you are looking for great performance, then this bat (and most other bats out there) will definitely give good performance with that ball. However, the durability could be lacking. I wouldn't be able to say that one specific bat will be more durable with that ball than the others.
Ben
Does this bat have the NSA 2012 stamp on it? Ben
Yes, the 2016 Louisville Slugger Z4 Balanced ASA/USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: WTLZ4A16B features the 2012 NSA stamp. It is located on the handle just below the connection piece.
Jason
How would this bat compare to the DeMarini future 2016 model? With pop, durability, swing feel, size of sweet spot? Ty
The 2016 Louisville Slugger Z4 Balanced ASA/USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (WTLZ4A16B) is a two piece composite options while the DeMarini Future has a half and half design with a composite handle and an aluminum barrel. They are both high end bats that are going to be very comparable in performance, durability, and barrel length.
Carter
Would you recommend this bat for a 16" mush ball? rob
Due to the 2-piece design and the balanced swing weight, I do not think this 2016 Louisville Slugger Z4 Balanced ASA/USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (WTLZ4A16B) would be a good option for a mush ball. For mush balls, we would usually recommend a one-piece bat with an end-load.
Ben
What is the thickness of the grip? What MM? Josh
This bat has been discontinued by us so I'm not able to measure it at the moment, but I believe it has 1.1mm grip thickness.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
