Description

For 2016, Easton has brought the most expansive line of power and performance to the market with the all-new Power Brigade Series!

TCT Thermo Composite Technology is the key to the MAKO's industry-leading swing speed, massive sweet spot, and pure feel on contact. This innovative material comprises both the barrel and handle which are united by Easton's patented 2-PC ConneXion Technology. By isolating the handle from the barrel with the connection joint, energy transfer is maximized while simultaneously eliminating any unwanted vibration. The MAKO's foundation is then optimized with one of the lightest swing weights on the market.

The Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 features a 2 1/4" barrel diameter, -11 length to weight ratio, new HYPERSKIN Performance Grip, and is Approved for Play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC and USSSA. Great Bat with Great Pop Joe R. parent

Pros: Everything - I won this bat from Just Bats during there Easton Mako sweepstakes last month. Pop right out of the wrapper. My son has been killing the ball with the New 2016 Mako. He was swinging a 31-19 Combat Maxxum but he loves this bat much more. Great looking bat. Great weight for my son who is 4'6" 92 lbs - he is swinging a 30/19 No Vibration at all.

Cons: There are No Cons on this bat as of yet. My son has only had the bat for three weeks but like I said this is a great bat.

Pros: Kids love the bat, good pop, solid hits with it. Feels good looks good. Warranty center did replace it quickly.

Cons: We had an S1 and it cracked of course after warranty, Then bought the Torque and was not impressed. Now we just had to send in the 2016 Mako as it cracked. Has to be something they can do to sturdy it up, as my kid is cracking the ball and plays all year round

Pros: Purchased this bat for son playing 10U travel. He's hitting better with this bat than older Easton S500C. Bat has alot of pop, he's hitting well struck balls on avg 20 feet further. I just think aluminum will last longer than the composite, we'll see.

Cons: pricey

8 yo old hit OVER the fence BoyMom parent

Pros: My 8 yo has been crushing the ball this season with this bat. He hit his 1st home run ever and it was OVER the fence! The umpire said it had to have gone at least 200 ft. He's hit it to the fence many times this season and has had 2 ground rule doubles when it bounced once and then went over the fence. Keep in mind he's a solid 80lbs and almost 9.

Cons: His twin brother is hitting better, but has not had quite as much success with this same bat. Bottom line, if your son/daughter has good technique it will make their hits go further. Just don't expect a miracle.

Unbelievable Results Rick O parent

Pros: Hot out of the wrapper. Tremwnd o us balance. Perfect swing weight. I would have never believed a bat could make that much difference. I was wrong. My son is 9 and ised a Demarini Distance for 3 years. It finally bent and had no pop. I bit the bullet and bought him the 29" -11 Mako. hFirst game he went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 5 RBIs. He absolutely loves the feel of this bat. He is 4 ' 5" and weighs 75 lbs and I dont dare pitch to him in the cage without a screen

Cons: uh....price, of course.

Pros: my son, and a couple teammates have been using this bat for the third year now. regular season, all stars, travel ball, its gotten its use and then some. when you tap the handle of the bat now its sounds like its broken but i haven't found any cracks and it still hits just fine.100% will be getting another one when this one bites the dust. hands down the best bat Ive seen durability isn't an issue. bat has had thousands of swings.if you dont like the price buy them at the end of the year when they clearance them out.

Absolutely amazing results Joe parent

Pros: Bat has so much pop it's silly. My 8 year old (average height and build) was constantly hitting balls into power alleys. Says when he hits the sweet spot he doesn't even feel it leave the bat.

Cons: Took a good 2-3 weeks to break in and that was hitting 50=100 balls a day,

Balanced and heavy Jon Mansfield coach

Pros: Good pop, large sweet spot

11 Year Old Swinging 30-19 Mako AAU Baseball (U12) coach

Pros: * Ball really explodes off the bat (93 pound kid hitting it 250 feet) * Huge sweet spot * Very little vibration * Overall a great bat

Cons: * Bats simply crack and break to quickly... especially for a kid who has great bat speed. * Because it is so fragile... You can only really use it for games and not practices.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

When will the 2016 MAKO's ship if I pre-order? Brian
The Youth models of the 2016 Easton line like the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) will ship on 8/14/2015 if they are ordered in the PRE-BOOK period.
Patrick
How much difference is there between the 2016 Easton Mako Youth bat and the 2015 model? Endy
The grip is really the only major difference besides the color scheme between the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) and the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Patrick
Is a 31 inch -12 good for a 4th grader who is almost 5 foot 1 and 95 pounds? Jay
Based on height and weight, the 31 inch of the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) or 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK12) would both be great options.
Patrick
Does this bat need to be "rolled" before being used? BB
The 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 is a two-piece, fully composite design so it does require a break in period of about 150-200 swings off a tee or by hand toss. We do not recommend that you roll any bat as it may void the manufacturer's warranty.
John
Are the extended barrel lengths of the -11 and -12 the same? Meaning besides the drop and different colored handle are the bats the "same"? Or is the -12 basically an S1 and re-branded as a MAKO? Brian
The 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) and the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK12) are constructed the same way. Besides the differing color scheme at the connection point (drop 12 will have the neon green compared to the drop 11 having white) the drop 11 will feature a slightly larger or extended barrel. So the barrel lengths will be the slightly different but the drop 12 is not an S1 and re-branded as a MAKO.
Cameron
My son will be 9 on Christmas Eve. He is 4'6" and approximately 70 lbs. What size MAKO should he swing? NJ
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 29" model in the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11.
Jason
Just bought the 28/17 bat for my son and read several reviews that this bat model actually weighs 19.6 oz. - is there a reason the weighting is not precisely measured prior to labeling it? Doug Matheson
As far as the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) weighing more than the listed weight, the bat is weighed early on in the manufacturing process. General industry standards typically say that the weight of the bat will be within 2 ounces of advertised listing. The weight of the bat changes at times once grip tape, end cap, etc. are added.
Cameron
My son is nine but is only 4' 3" and weighs 55 lbs. What do you suggest for a size and drop for a MAKO bat? Mom of 3 fab boys
Based upon your son's height and weight, I would recommend using a 28" 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11.
John
My son is 5'5" 110 lbs, line drive hitter. Which Easton is right for him? JAC
Based on your son's type of swing, we would recommend going with a balanced Easton bat like the MAKO. Looking into your height and weight listed for your son, we would recommend getting the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 in a 31 inch 20 ounce model.
Cameron
What is the difference between the MAKO youth and the MAKO youth XL? My son is 10 years old and 5'2" and 110 pounds. What bat would you recommend? Tybo
The difference between the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 and the Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MKX is going to be the swing weight feature. The MAKO will feature a balanced swing weight while the MAKO XL will feature an end-loaded swing weight. Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend going with a 31 inch 21 ounce model. As for the bat to get (MAKO or MAKO XL) it all depends on what type of hitter he is and how quick he can get the bat through the zone. The MAKO, and its balanced swing weight, would be beneficial for a contact hitter while the XL will tend to be better for a power hitter. The XL will have a slightly smaller sweet spot but more concentrated in weight; thus if you can square the ball up in this sweet spot one will typically get more distance than a bat with a balanced swing weight.
Cameron
My son is 11 yrs old 5'1" 150 lbs. He has a S1 and hits with good power. Looking for a new bat. Any input would be appreciated. Kgreen
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 in a 31 inch 20 ounce model. If you are looking to add some added distance/power, then we would recommend looking into the Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MKX. The end-loaded swing weight that this bat features is a perfect fit for a power hitter!
Cameron
My son is 5' tall and 89 lbs. What is the best bat for him? He usually hits the ball every time up to bat. R.bevan
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 30" bat. The 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 would be a great option for him. The MAKO is a great option and fit for the majority of players.
Jason
Wondering how I should decide between the -11 and the -12 versions of 2016 Mako. (1) Does the balance change with the -12? (2) Any difference in size of the sweet spot/barrel between the -11 and -12? ty
(1) The distribution of the weight in the bat will not change if you move from this 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) to the YB16MK12 model. However, if you were to compare a model of this 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) to a model of the YB16MK12 in the same length, this YB16MK11 will feel and weigh heavier. (2) The sweet spot length on both options of the MAKO being considered will be very similar.
Ben
What break-in process should be taken for this bat? at
The 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 is pretty hot out of the wrapper and it does not require much of a break-in period. It is still beneficial to take about 50-100 swings off a tee though. It is best to rotate the barrel about a quarter turn each swing and to gradually work your swing speed up starting at about 50%.
Jason
Is this bat for fastpitch or just baseball? Erin
The 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) is a Little League baseball bat.
John
Would this be a good bat for my son? He is 9 years old, 4'8'', and 63 pounds. Brian
Based upon your son's height and weight, I would recommend using a 29" 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11.
John P.
My son is 11 about 4'10" & around 90 lbs. Which size bat should he have? baseball mom
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 in a 30 inch 19 ounce model.
Cameron
How do I know if this bat is legal in our baseball Little League rules? baseball mom
If your league follows the standard Little League Rules then the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) will be approved for play. We would always recommend double checking with a coach or a league official first though.
John
My son is 4 foot 3 and weighs 84 pounds and is 10 years old. What is the correct size MAKO to order please? Don't want to have to return. jazzy
Based on your son's height and weight, I would recommend that he swing a 29" length. That would be a 29" 18 oz. size in this particular model of the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11.
Nick
My son is 5'2" and 145 pounds. What size bat should he use? Larry
For your son's height and weight we recommend using a 31" length bat.
Angelique
My son is 4'6" and 95 lbs. He is strong but just recently started steadily hitting the ball. What size Mako should I get him. How would it compare to the CF7? Jim
Based on the height and weight I would suggest a 30" 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11). The CF7 and MAKO are going to be very similar bats. Both are going to be two-piece composite bats that are balanced with a lightweight swing.
Jake
My son is 5'5 1/2" and weighs 105 pounds. What size bat? Heidi Prellwitz
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 in a 31 inch 20 ounce model.
Cameron
My new 2016 MAKO has a lot of spiral cracks in it. What does it mean? chef curry
The 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) features a composite barrel and small cracking in the paint is expected as the bat moves through its break-in process. The cracks are a sign that the fiber material is expanding resulting in the bat becoming hotter and showing increased performance.
Jake
My 4th grade son is 4' 5" and weights 64 pounds. Would you recommend the YB16MK11 or YB16MK12? Also, what length would you recommend? Mike
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting a 29 inch model in the MAKO Youth Baseball Bat. As for the correct weight, this would be harder for us to determine as this will really come down to the weight of his current bat and how the player is able to handle it. If you feel the bat speed is lacking, then we would suggest getting the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK12.
Cameron
What size bat would you recommend for my almost 9 year old that is 56" and 72 lbs? pdiddy
Based upon your player's height and weight, we would make a general recommendation of getting this 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) in 29" length. As long as you feel your player can handle the 18 oz weight of the 29" option of this bat, I would recommend that size option of this bat.
Ben
My son is 5 foot 2 and weighs about 105 pounds. Would 31 inch be the appropriate length for him? Also, at what height would he move up to a longer bat? Sarah
Based on your son's height and weight, I think the 31" length would be an ideal fit. That would be a 31" 20 oz. size in this particular model of the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11. I would recommend moving up to a 32" length when he gets to 5'5".
Nick
My son has used this bat and experienced a lot of sting/vibration. Is this part of the break-in or sign of issue? DP
If the vibration being experienced on this 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) is unbearable, I might recommend placing a call to Easton and seeing if they would be willing to get you guys set up to send your bat back to them for an inspection and warranty replacement. You can reach Easton at 888-259-1297. If your bat was ordered from JustBats originally, you can reach out to us at 866-321-2287 and we can help you begin the process with Easton.

My 10 year old son is currently swinging a 28", 17 ounce MAKO youth Little League bat that he has had for a few seasons. He is 4'5" tall and 73 lbs. I would like to move him up to a larger MAKO bat. What length/weight would you suggest? Mike
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 in a 29 inch 18 ounce model.
Cameron
My son is 5'1" and weighs approximately 130 lbs. Should we purchase the Easton MAKO Youth -11 or the -12? KP
The correct drop to get the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK is going to be dependent on the weight of the bat he is currently using and how well he is able to get the weight of this bat through the zone. Would recommend consulting with a local coach to determine how his bat speed and bat path are currently with the bat he has.
Cameron
My son is 10. He is about 4'10" and weighs about 76 lbs. He has been using a 30" 19 oz bat all season. I would like to upgrade him to a new bat. Should I continue to use the same size? MSR
For a player of his height and weight, you are right on par with a 30" bat. A player his age generally swings anywhere from a -12 to a -10 bat. So he should be fine if you went with the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 in the 30" 19 oz. size.
Marcus
My grandson is 7. This year he swung a 27" 16 ounce bat. Bat speed wasn't great but got better as year progressed. Thinking of the MAKO 28 inch drop -11 for next year. Thoughts? Ed
The 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 is a very balanced bat and is a great option for a youth player. Going up one ounce, if the bat speed was lacking, may bring some issues. Would recommend consulting with local coaches regarding this. At the same time, if he progressively improved with the 16 ounce bat he may well do the same with a 17 ounce bat.
Cameron
What drop is best for my 53 inch, 59 pound 11 year old all star with good ability to put the ball in play? joey
I would recommend the 29" 18 oz for your son. If you feel like he might need a little bit smaller of a bat than that then the 28" 17 oz would be a great option. Hope that helps!
Carter
What is the difference between the YB16MK11 and the YB16MK12? Which is better? Baseball Beast
The difference between the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 and the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK12 is one ounce; the YB16MK11 will be one ounce heavier than the YB16MK12. Neither bat is better than the other as they are made with the exact same technology. If you are looking for more power, the heavier model (YB16MK11) would provide that assuming the player's bat speed is not adversely affected by the heavier bat.
Cameron
I am 10 years old (almost 11). I was swinging a 28''/16 oz bat and I need a bigger bat. Should I get a 29'' or a 30'' MAKO? bryce6767
Based upon your age, we would recommend a 30" Youth model of baseball bat. As well, if you feel as though you are going to be doing some growing within the next year or so, I would recommend getting this 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) in the 30" length as long as you can handle the 19 oz weight.
Ben
My son is 10 years old, 4'7" and swings a 29"/17 oz. bat. (1) His current bat is starting to crack. Is that normal? (2) Also, is the 29"/17 oz option the correct size for him? (3) Will this bat prevent sting from getting to his hands? Jose
For most 10 year old players, we are usually suggesting a 30" length for a Youth style of bat (2 1/4" barrel diameter). A 30" model of this 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) will feature a 19 oz weight. As long as your player can handle the 19 oz weight, I think that size option would be something to consider for your player. (1) Cracking in the material of any bat is not normal. If the bat is under the manufacturer's warranty, be sure and contact them about a replacement. (2) I think that your player may be able to handle the larger 30" length, but just make sure the weight is okay for him before settling on any size of bat. (3) This YB16MK11 has the CXN connection point on it that will prevent the amount of vibration that gets down to a player's hands on a miss-hit.
Ben
I recently noticed cracks in the paint of my son's 2016 Easton MAKO (29"/18 oz). Is this common or is the bat dead? Al
If it is just the paint chipping off of a model of this 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11), then the bat should be structurally fine. When composite bats get used extensively, the composite fibers upon which the bat is built begin to loosen (which is a good thing), that loosening can lead to paint chipping on the bat. However, if the structure of the bat is actually cracking, then the bat will be defective and eligible for a warranty replacement if under the warranty period from the manufacturer.
Ben
Are we allowed to use this in Little League? h
The 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 is legal for play in the Minor, 9-10, and Major divisions of Little League. It would not be legal for the Intermediate, Junior, Senior, or Big League divisions.
Jason
Is this bat the same as the orange 2015 MAKO? craig
This 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) will feature pretty much the same specifications as the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). The only true differences will be the cosmetics on each bat and the thinner grip on this 2016 model.
Ben
My player is 50" and 55 lbs. Should I get him this 28" MAKO or the 28" COMBAT MAXUM (MAXYB112)? B
Based upon your player's height and weight, I think the 28" length is what you'll be wanting in either this 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) or the MAXYB112. Your decision may come down to whether you would prefer 28"/17 oz size of the MAKO or the 28"/16 oz size of the MAXUM.
Ben
Is this bat allowed for U8 baseball? REG
Every league has different rules so I would not be able to be certain without knowing me details. But unless your specific league has rules about not using composite bats I would imagine you would be able to use this bat.
Carter
I'm 11 years old, 5'2" and 95 lbs. What size bat should I get? Ryan Augustine
Based upon your height and weight, my general recommendation would be to get this 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) in the 31" length as long as you can handle the 20 oz weight. Unfortunately, we do not have this 2016 model in stock in the 31"/20 oz size any longer. Because of that, I would recommend viewing the new 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat (YB17MK11) in the 31"/20 oz size.
Ben
My son has been using the Orange MAKO for the past couple seasons. He is ripping line drives. He's 12 years old, 5'5" and 125 lbs. Do you think the YB16MK11 would help him get more power? Kevin Soucie
This 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) will essentially be the same as the YB14MK and YB15MK which were the Orange MAKOs released for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. All three bats feature the same material, build and -11 length-to-weight ratio. If you were looking to give a power edge to your player, I might recommend looking to the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK10) in the 32"/22 oz size (that size recommendation is based on his height and weight). That bat has a heavier -10 length-to-weight ratio and also an end-loaded swing weight. If your player can handle those heavier features of the YB16MK10, then he may have more of a power advantage as the more weight he can handle, the further he can hit the ball.
Ben
Will this bat be certified with the 2018 changes upcoming? BC Buffalo
The 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 will not be certified with the 2018 changes.
Linsey
What do you mean when you say, in response to BC Buffalo, that this bat will not be certified in 2018? What changes are coming, and what will cause this bat to lose its certification? Brian
In 2018 all youth bats will have to feature the new USABat stamp certification. All current youth models, like the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11, will no longer be allowed for youth competition as the bat will not meet the new testing standards. Essentially youth bats will be designed much closer to what high school and college players use meaning the exit velocity will be significantly altered.
Cameron
I am looking to buy my son the 2016 Easton Mako Baseball Bat. I am looking on what size would be the best. He is 12 years old he is 5'5 and 240 lbs. What size would be best for him? 32'22 or 31'21? Soaringeagle
Based on your sons height and weight we would recommend the 32" version of this bat. Unfortunately we are all sold out of the 32"/21 ounce 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) so I would recommend going with the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB17MK10) in the 32"/22 ounce version.
Carter
How big is the barrel? cade299
The 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) features a 2 1/4 Inch Barrel Diameter.
Carter
What size bat would you recommend for my son? He's 9 years old and 61 pounds and 4 foot 3 in. I'm thinking a 28" but not sure about weight. He currently uses at 27/15 big barrel MAKO. Brian
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 in a 28 inch 17 ounce model. There is not other weight you could get the 28 inch in but if you felt that his swing speed was too slow with the current 15 ounce bat then you would want to strongly consider going down in length.
Cameron
My son is a 12 year old, and 5'3" 99 pounds. Is a bat that is 31"20 oz is good? oar
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 31" 20 oz model in the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11.
Jason
I am contemplating this bat or the YB16MK10. My son is 9 years old, 108 lbs and is just under 5'. He is currently using the the Easton SL145400 (30"/22 oz / 2 5/8" / -8). He handles the bat well and we are looking for another bat. Which one would you suggest between the two being considered? Bat for Ry
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would recommend getting a bat with a 30" length (I would note that the bats being considered will be skinny, 2 1/4" barrel bats; smaller than the barrel on the SL14500 swung in the past). If you want the heavier option with the -10 length-to-weight ratio and end-loaded swing weight, then I would suggest the YB16MK10. However, if the balanced feel is more attractive to you, then be sure and go with this 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11).
Ben
My son is 11 years old 5'3" 91 lbs. What's the best size and weight bat for him? bat dad
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 in a 31 inch 20 ounce model.
Cameron
Is this allowed in Babe Ruth ball? b
Yes, the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 is going to be approved for Babe Ruth. For a bat to be legal in Babe Ruth it must be a 2 1/4" barrel (youth model), can not be longer than 33" in length, and must have the 1.15 BPF stamp on the bat.
Cooper
Is the barrel of the MAKO YB16MK11 (30"/19 oz) the same size or larger compared to the Easton S1 (2014 model)? junglejim
The barrel length on the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) should be fairly similar to the length that would be on the 2014 S1 (Youth Barrel, -12 length-to-weight ratio). The 2016 MAKO may have a slight advantage in regard to barrel length, but the difference should not be incredibly significant.
Ben
Does the 2016 MAKO come in a 30/18? I can only find the 30/19? I know the Beast comes in a 30/18 but I prefer the 2016 bats (price). junglejim0007
Unfortunately, the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 does not come in a -12 30" 18oz.
Logan
My son who just turned 11 is 4'9 and about 65 lbs. What drop should I consider? He was swinging a -10 last season but I think it was a bit heavy for him. robio
Based on your sons height and weight and what you have told us about him I would recommend a 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat (YB17MK12) in the 28"/16 ounce version.
Carter
My son will be 12 in 4 months and he's 5'3 93 lbs. What is the best length and weight for him? Pete
Based on his height and weight, the best length for him would be 31''. The weight will depend on what he is comfortable with. However, if he is 12 and is planning on playing at the high school level you may want to start moving him up in weight since he will have to use a -3 in high school.
Tori
My son had the orange MAKO, I think 2015 model. He is 12 and about 75 lbs. He had the 29 inch drop 11. Should I get him the 30 inch? Is this bat similar to the orange MAKO? (it was hot and he loved it but it cracked) firefighter 64
The 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 has the same TCT as the 2015 MAKO; the main differences between the two bats would be the color scheme and the grip tape - the 2016 models used a slightly thicker grip tape (HYPERSKIN 1.2 mm). As for the size to get your son, this would be based on his height and weight. For a player who is 12 it would be best to get them a -10 bat to start preparing for the drop in weight a player will have to adjust to once they get to high school (BBCOR -3 bats). If you provide us with the player's height as well we can let you know the best length to get as well.
Cameron
I have a just turned 11 year old. He's 4'7" and about 65 lbs. Would you recommend a 30/18? I'm afraid the 30/19 might be a bit heavy for him. tournament dad
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend a 29 inch model. As for the weight to get, this would really be based on his most current bat (weight wise) and how well the player has been handling the weight of this bat. If the current bat is too heavy (causing slower swing and barrel head dropping) then it would be best to drop 1 to 2 ounces on the next bat. If deciding to go up in weight then a 1 ounce increase is typically best with some stronger players being able to go up 2 ounces.
Cameron
Will 2017 Mako Youth bats be certified for play in 2018? I see the 2016 models will not. Next question, my 10 year old son is 74 lbs & 4' 8" tall. Was going to go with YB16MK11, is that correct choice? Bill
Whether the bat will be legal or not depends on the league he plays in. USSSA leagues will not be affected by the new USABat changes. All other leagues will in some fashion. Yes, the YB16MK11 would be a good option for a youth player. We would suggest a 29" length of bat.
Kyle J.
With the new bat rule changes coming in 2018, will this bat be legal for Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken play? jb
For the 2018 season of Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken play, this 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK11) will not be legal for use since it does not feature USABat Certification.
Ben
Would the 30"/19 oz be about right for my 9 yr old who is 4.9" and 81 lbs? Also, since this won't be a legal bat in little league in 2018, can you recommend a composite bat that is USAbat certified? C. Dup
The 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 should work well for your player at that size. Unfortunately, there are no bats currently on the market that are USABat certified. Those will become available in the fall of 2017.
Logan
My son is 10, 4'11" tall and 81 lbs so he is pretty lanky for his age. What length and weight bat would you recommend? cnc

Kyle J.

This bat will not be legal once the USABat standard goes into effect on Jan 1, 2018.
