For 2016, Easton has brought the most expansive line of power and performance to the market with the all-new Power Brigade Series!

TCT Thermo Composite Technology is the key to the MAKO XL's massive sweet spot, and pure feel on contact. This innovative material comprises both the barrel and handle which are united by Easton's patented 2-PC ConneXion Technology. By isolating the handle from the barrel with the connection joint, energy transfer is maximized while simultaneously eliminating any unwanted vibration. That foundation is then optimized for stronger / advanced hitters with a perfectly-powerful end loaded swing weight.

The MAKO XL Youth features a 2 1/4" barrel diameter, -10 length to weight ratio, new HYPERSKIN Performance Grip, and is Approved for Play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC and USSSA. Mako xl 2016 Wes h parent

Pros: Bat seems so much better than 2015 mako xl. I honestly think easton had a bad run with 2015 bats. I know several people who feel same way. The 2016 mako xl 30/20 is a sweet bat with great pop.

Cons: Absolutely none

massive sweet spot Sean parent

Pros: Huge sweet spot, great grip and balance, major pop. My seven year old played a seven game fall season and went 21 for 24, 16 hard hit legitimate off the fence doubles and 3 home runs over the fence 150' with one taping 185'. The thing is unreal. He is a 105lb and tall 7 year old but the smaller kids using the -11 and -12 Mako's are killing it too. Get one!

Cons: Pricey but worth it

Great Bat and LOTS of Pop littleleaguepop parent

Pros: If you are looking for a bat with lots of Pop this bat is hard to beat. Keep in mind it should only be swung by larger, stronger players. I believe the 2016 is comparable to last years "orange" XL, however does not compare to the monster crushing 2013 XL1 or Omen (believe me). Still, maybe aside from the new COMbat Maxum, the best hero maker out there.

Cons: I am listing a Con, just for GP, otherwise this or the COMbat Maxum are the two best bats for youths on the market. Again, does not have the pop of the 2013 "yellow " XL1, however if your kid can hit, he will love this bat. If your kid is a contact hitter, I cannot stress enough to instead buy the COMbat Maxum as it will deliver both consistent line drives and power if you buy the -10 (they are also one -piece bats.

What a bat! Gianni player

Pros: I'm facing some pitchers throwing 70+ and i can get around on all of them. I'm 12 and my longest hit with it is probably around 315 ft. So much pop, and even when I don't barrel up with ball i can get it out of the park with this bat. Large barrel to be allowed in little league, and most of my team has this bat. i use it for travel and i can get it out of the park, easily at that. I've been using this bat for a couple months now and its been reliable, like the 2014 model of this bat i had before it.

Cons: Grip is good feeling, but rips easily. But that may be because i hit 5 buckets off a tee every day.

Worth every Penny! Josh coach

Pros: The bat has a much longer barrel and sweet spot than the S1. (the drop 12 version that is yellow, orange, or this year green). My son was hitting will with the S1 and in his first game with this bat hit the ball 170 feet. He is 9 years old with above average height and strength. Major difference if you player has the strength to get the bat head around.

Cons: Lizard Skin grip is required so go ahead and spend the $12 bucks. It also is not for a kid that does not have above average upper body strength. If your player is not as strong get the -12 or -11 version of this bat. The orange and yellow ones are just as good and can be found for less money.

Pros: Ball goes a long way/

Cons: If your kid can swing a bat, it will break. I am on my 5th one. The one I just bought broke today on the 8th Ball he hit with it. the one before that, broke the first hit of the season. I sent one back to Easton on Thursday, now I have to send this one out on Monday after I call them.

Well worth the price tag. Jim Hall coach

Pros: GREAT overall bat. My son is 12, he is relatively tall at 5'8" and about 130 pounds. We broke this bat in as recommended. He had taken 3 years off from baseball. After getting some reps in this bat has performed flawlessly. He has hit the ball hard on several occasions with a few monster shots near 300 feet. He has a decent swing, but this bat makes a solid swing a possible shot out of the park. Great investment!!

Cons: It does scuff up, but a wash down makes it look fine.

Pros: Bat is BBCOR approved, non-composite. Good bat for 13U -14U player

Cons: Our team purchased 6 of these bats during a demo. 5 of the 6 bats have had to be returned due to the cap busting off the top of the bat. All broke the same way. I have to question the quality if all of the same type of bat had the same problems.

Pros: My 10-year-old son loves his new bat! Hit a home run with it before it was even fully broken in. He's a big kid (almost 5' tall, 95 pounds) so I got him the 30" 20oz. Now his older brother is eyeing it.

Pros: this bat comes out of the box ready to play. I used a 2013 Easton S2 last year for 12u and this bat greatly surpassed it. its an amazing bat for power hitters cause i hit my first through 15th home run this year. Get it!

Favirote Bat John player

Pros: I love this bat because it has a lot of pop and it's really good for any type of player. I started using this bat in my 11u season. I was about 4' 10" and around 70 pounds. I started off the season using the 2015 Mako XL and was doing so-so. As soon as I started using the 2016 model I took off. In my first game with it I hit my first homerun and continued to hit two more. My batting average jumped up and ended the season with a .400 BA. I absolutely love this bat.

Bat cracks easily Coach Lilly coach

Pros: Great Pop.

Cons: My son is on his third bat and this one now has cracked. We had batting practice today and this brand new replacement bat cracked after 50 hits. The other two at least made it through a month of practices before they cracked. and Yes, he is the only one hitting with it. They are not team bats. This the third exact bat that has cracked. This is the worst composite bat Easton has made to date. I am moving my son to DeMarini.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this bat more of an end loaded bat? Jrock2281
The 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 will have a slight end heavy feel to it.
Marcus
Is this bat the same as last years orange 2015 Easton Mako XL -10 Youth Little League Baseball Bat YB15MKX 31"/21oz? Tim
Yes, the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK10) replaced the orange MAKO from 2015 (YB15MKX).
John
Is this bat legal for 8 year old ball? miguel
Whether the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK10) would be legal for your player would depend on their individual league rules. There is not a uniform set of rules for all leagues of that age. It would be best to check with a coach or league official on the bat rules for the league you participate in.
Patrick
I am a 5'9" and 155 lb power hitter in my last year of Little League, which bat is best for me? The 2016 Easton Mako XL, the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10, or the 2016 DeMarini CF8? Trevor Dutra
All three of these bats will help a power hitter. The 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK10) is end-loaded which is beneficial for power, the 2016 Combat Maxum is one-piece which allows for less flex (also great for power hitters) and the 2016 DeMarini CF8 will have a lighter swing weight (more bat speed = more power potential). With that all being said, it comes down to your personal preference.
Cameron
My son is moving up from coach pitch to 42 MPH machine pitch this spring. He is 6 years old and about to turn 7 on April 5th. He is about 50 inches tall and weighs about 52 lbs. I guess you could say he's a contact hitter at this early point in his baseball career after playing 1 season of T-ball and 2 seasons of coach pitch plus All-stars. During practice he's been hitting about 8 or 9 out of every 10 pitches from the machine, but most his hits are ground balls to the left side of the infield and weaker line drives. Since he is already good at making contact with the ball, but lacks power, I was thinking about buying a bat that would help him hit for more power, but I see in some of the answers to questions about this XL version versus the non-XL version of this bat that the XL version is recommended for power hitters and the other non-XL version is recommended more for contact hitters. I would like him to develop into more of a power hitter, so should I go with the XL or the non-XL version of this bat? Also I was thinking about buying the 28 inch length of either the XL or non-XL? Is this the correct length for him? If not what is? EricOtown
Based on his height and weight, we would recommend getting a bat like the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 in a 28 inch 18 ounce model. With that said, a power hitter will typically benefit more from an end-loaded swing weight bat like the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10. The reason for this is due to the higher mass concentration that is in the sweet spot of the barrel. This will create more barrel whip/pendulum effect and when contact is made in this smaller sweet spot (higher mass concentration) the ball will usually travel further. With that said, a player who lacks bat speed or strength can be negatively affected by the end-loaded swing weight. One will usually notice top hand lag which will cause the barrel to drag through the hitting zone thus causing slower bat speed. Slower bat speed will result in less distance on batted balls and barrel lag can cause late swings and swing-and-misses. Based on his current hitting, a balanced weighted bat will be a better fit.
Cameron
How does this bat compare to the 2013 Easton XL1? dusty
The 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 is very comparable to the 2013 Easton XL1. The biggest difference is it is made from Easton's higher-grade TCT Thermo Composite.
Marcus
How does this bat compare to the 2015 Easton MAKO? A-train
The 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 is very comparable to the 2015 model of the same name. The 2016 bat has a new, more comfortable HYPERSKIN grip.
Marcus
I am 12 and I swing a DeMarini but I want a 2014 XL1 but they don't have my size. gg
The 2014 Easton XL1 is a discontinued model so once we run out of a certain size we are no longer able to secure anymore from the manufacturer; this essentially means that this item will no longer be available for purchase. Easton did not make the XL1 in the 2016 line, they made the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 instead.
Cameron
Are there any differences between the 2016 Easton MAKO -10 and the 2016 Easton MAKO -11? C
This 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK10) will have a -10 length-to-weight ratio and be end-loaded in its swing weight. This will differ from the YB16MK11 model which will have a -11 length-to-weight ratio and be balanced in its swing weight. Typically power hitters gravitate towards this YB16MK10 model with the end-load.
Ben
Is this bat approved for use in Babe Ruth baseball (Cal Ripken division)? Ryan
Yes, this 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK10) will be legal for use in the Cal Ripken division of Babe Ruth baseball.
Ben
Is this the new version of the XL1 yellow and black bat? Cosmo
Yes, the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK10) has replaced the XL1.
John
We have between 100-200 hits on this 2 1/4", 31"/21 oz model. The bat is showing spider cracks, but only on the decals of the bat. The cracks don't seem to follow into the black portion of the bat and it still sounds solid when batting. Is it defective? Navy baseball
If you have an option of this 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK10) that is showing structural cracks on it, I would recommend setting up a warranty replacement return with the manufacturer. You can reach out to Easton directly at 888-259-1297. However, if you ordered through JustBats, I would recommend first reaching out to us as we will assist you with beginning the replacement process through Easton.
Ben
Does this bat have more pop than the 2015 Xl? jakefronstatefarm
Both the 2015 Easton XL1 and the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 are very highly reviewed in the pop category. As to which one will have more pop, that is hard to say as the answer to that question will be subjective and depend upon who you ask.
John P.
My son has been using the 2013 XL1, but the end is just starting to pop off. His 2013 XL1 is a 29"/19 oz bat, but he's grown quite a bit since we first bought that bat. Currently he is 12 years old, 97 lbs and 5'4". What size would you recommend in this updated bat? Beef
Based upon your player's height and weight, my general recommendation would be to get this 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK10) in the 31" length. As long as you feel you can handle the 21 oz weight of the 31" option, I would recommend this bat in that size. Overall, this MAKO XL would be very similar to the XL1 as both bats are two-piece, all-composite bats with end-loaded swing weights.
Ben
This bat can be seen as a "speed" or "power" bat? The weight is towards the handle or the barrel? Sponsor
The 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 is considered a power hitting bat because it has an end loaded swing weight.
Jason
My bat is dead and I need a new bat. I am a 5 feet 2 inches tall and weight around 90 pounds. I own a 30 inch bat and I was wondering if I should upgrade to a 31 inch 21 ounce or stay with the 30 inch 20 ounce? Should I get the -11 or -12 instead? Which would be better suited for me? Matt
For your height and weight, our general recommendation is a 31" length. The weight of the bat is going to depend on your personal strength and what you are comfortable swinging. The heavier the bat is, the more power will be behind the ball.
Angelique
My son has used your YB14X1 for 2 years and loves it but it is starting to show signs of wear. Is the YB16MK10 the same bat or closest bat that you make to the YB14X1? He hits very well with YB14X1 and loves the balance and feel. Slugger
Yes, the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 is going to be Easton's closest model to the Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat: YB14X1 . The bats are not exactly the same, as the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 features the TCT Thermo Composite Technology, while the Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat: YB14X1 featured the IMX composite barrel and SIC Carbon Composite handle. The 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 also features Easton's updated ConneXion technology and an updated grip on the bat.
Nick
My son currently is using DeMarini Voodoo 2015. How would this bat compare to it? Curtis
The 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 is going to be very similar to the DeMarini Voodoo that your son has. Both feature end loaded swing weights. The biggest difference is that the Voodoo is a hybrid design, whereas the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 features a two-piece fully composite design.
Nick
Is it a composite? ian
Yes, the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 is a two-piece fully composite bat.
Jason
What is the break-in instructions for this bat? Daniel J Sagun
The 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10 is pretty hot out of the wrapper and it really does not require much of a break-in period. However, we still feel it is best to take about 50-100 swings off a tee. You will want to rotate the barrel about a quarter turn every few swings and gradually work your swing speed up from 50% to 100%.
Jason
My son is a spray hitter. What Easton models fit this type of hitter? TC
For a contact or spray hitter, I would recommend more of a balanced swinging bat so that your player can have complete control while swinging the bat. This 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK10) will be end-loaded so I might recommend avoiding this model. A bat that I would suggest looking at is the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat (YB17MK11). That bat will have a 2 1/4" barrel, -11 length-to-weight ratio and balanced swing weight.
Ben
If my son is more of a power hitter than a contact hitter, what bat should he use? rooster
If your player is more of a power hitter, he could benefit from swinging an end loaded bat, such as the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK10.
Logan
Could I use this bat in 50/70? Vince Bono
This 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK10) will have composite material and USSSA 1.15 BPF certification. Because of those features, it will not be legal for play in the 50/70 division of Little League for the 2017 year.
Ben
How long does the Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball bat last on average? Andrew
For a year round player, 1-2 years is about average for most composite bats.
