Description

Expect Nothing but RAW POWER from the DeMarini Voodoo RAW.

Everything about this bat is tailored specifically for the biggest and baddest hitters on the planet. The Voodoo RAW's massive barrel is forged from DeMarini's most responsive alloy yet - X12. Most Voodoo models will feature an end loaded swing weight, and can be tough to get through the zone for some players. But the DXVDL is the lightest swinging Voodoo made by DeMarini, and is ideal for future stars who want to develop more power through bat speed. The newest addition to the Voodoo's frame this year would be the D-Fusion 2.0 technology. An extra-stiff flex is created at the joint connecting this hybrid's alloy barrel to its composite handle. Younger players will also enjoy that hybrid feel, as it frees them up to swing confidently; without the risk of harsh hand sting from off-center hits. Finally, the RCK Knob and Low Pro End Cap make this an extremely comfortable bat to swing. With the new Voodoo RAW, simply throw your hands, and watch it fly.

The DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: WTDXVDL features a 2 1/4" barrel diameter, -13 length to weight ratio, is Approved for Play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and USSSA, and is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. My Son First DeMarini..... He Loves It Tim... Coach/Dad Go Keizer Cubs! parent

Pros: My son is a small in stature 8 year old 4' 50 pound so i went with the 28/15. He plays Little League, 10u JBO, Nations summer league, Fall ball and winter hitting leagues so we pretty much live basebal! We have always used Easton bats because that is what I grew up with......until now this bat feels lighter than our easton bats of the same weight and has more pop. We have only had batting practice with it so far but fall ball games are approaching. I'm looking forward to those solid singles to hit the gaps for extra bases!

Cons: None yet. Only had it 2 weeks of batting practice. But I don't anticipate any.

Solid Bat! Proud Parent parent

Pros: Tha bat has great pop and my son loves it. He is a small kid but has a good swing. He has gone from inside the bases hits to consistant outfield shots. I have been letting the other kids on yhe team use it and seems to be breaking in well. I highly recommend this bat.

Pros: pop is unreal, i have also never had a bat that feels this good, it does great for me. so far only 2 games this season, yet i have 3 homeruns

Cons: if you are bad at making middle connection, and always hit off the inside of the bat, around the hands it is not made for that and wont last, maybe 20 ir 30 times a season but thats it

Voodoo Raw Youth Bat Chris coach

Pros: Purchased this bat for my 7 yr old son who is playing 8U Dixie Youth baseball. This bat replaced his 27/14. He is able to get this bat, 28/15, through the zone a lot quicker than with the previous bat. The bat has a lot of pop and he says the sting is very minimal. He is not a power hitter but he is hitting the ball hard to all parts of the field. He leads the team so far in HR (in the park) and he says it's because of his DeMarini!

Cons: None

First few hits, WOW! Coach coach

Pros: I just got this bat for my son who is 6 yo and I coach him in Coach Pitch little league baseball. First game he nailed me soo hard in the leg I have a black welt on my leg about 3 inches from danger. The ball came off the bat soo hard and fast, I didn't even know the ball was coming at me, I just heard the "smack" and then felt the pain. I was very pleased with this injury and surprised that I couldn't even see the ball coming at me. We were using tee-ball bats prior to this, and so this was a huge upgrade for our team. Plus, it looks cool too. My son loves baseball a lot more now.

Cons: You have to wash it after every game because you love it soo much.

not at all what we expected Amanda parent

Pros: no vibration and seems to be durable.

Cons: We bought this for our 8 year old son, and have some amazing power hitters on our team, with this bat we are lucky if they get a single base hit though they are normally home run hitters. The bat still is not broke in after 100+ hits.We have more power with an Easton bat than this, which was very disappointing to us as we were really excited to see our son use this bat. Now its sitting in a closet. 200 dollars wasted.

Dad/Coach Dad/Coach parent

Pros: 8 year old son loves this bat. Went from a 2015 29" Demarini Vodoo up to a 30" Raw. His 2015 model went dead after busy & fall seasons. Got it just in time for all-stars and the pop with this new bat is very noticeable. He's back to driving balls deep in the gaps.

Cons: None.

When it fits it works Bubba parent

Pros: Great pop and speed through the zone. We bought this bat a year ago when my son was 8. He wanted a Mako but I could not justify the cost and I am a firm believer it's the magician and not the wand. Well last year he did not feel comfortable with the 30/17 so he used his 29" Easton. He started practicing with the Demarini this winter and boy am I glad he did. Crazy power numbers this year. He hit two home runs out of the park. 200' fence. Only one to do so this spring.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How does this bat compare to 2015 Easton MAKO XL? Hoosierhoopsfan
The Easton MAKO XL has a -10 length to weight ratio and a slightly end loaded swing weight. The 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) has a -13 length to weight ratio and a balanced swing weight. The Voodoo is a better option for a player that needs more bat speed. The MAKO XL is a better option for a player that is stronger and is considered a power hitter.
Jason
How is the barrel length compared to the Mako XL? ccsilva73
The barrel size of the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) compared to the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB16MK10) are going to be similar. They are both 2 1/4." The Mako does have a slightly larger barrel than the DeMarini do to how it is tapered but it is very minimal.
Cameron
Is there any difference between the 2015 Voodoo OVERLORD and the new Voodoo RAW? Chris
The 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL features DeMarini's D-Fusion 2.0 Handle Technology, helping to further reduce vibration and make the bat even stiffer than the Voodoo OVERLORD.
Marcus
10 year old contact hitter, slender build. 57 inches, 75lbs. Would you recommend this bat and if so what size? Mom
For a player with that height and weight, I would recommend using a 30" 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL. I would absolutely recommend this 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW as it is one of DeMarini's top hybrid, two-piece construction youth baseball bats.
John
I am looking for either a 31 inch and 20 ounce bat or a 30 inch and 19 ounce bat...basically a "drop" 11 but debating on whether to get the 30 or 31 inch. Do you not have these? scott
The 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL only comes in a drop 13 at this time. At this time the only drop 11 models we have in the DeMarini Youth line will be the CF models (CF6, CF7 & CF8).
Cameron
My 11 year old will be 12 in May of 2016. He is a good hitter, husky boy weighing 135-140 lbs and is around 5'4". He is currently swimming and will be going through a lot of strength and conditioning starting in January through April. I have debated non-stop whether to purchase the DeMarini CF7, the Voodoo Overlord or the 2015 Easton MAKO (orange bat). It is hard for me to judge whether he is a power hitter or an all around balanced hitter at the age of 11. Overall, he is a good hitter and has sprayed the ball all over the place from normal base hits to doubles down the line to even being the one of a few kids to hit a HR in his league. Do you recommend a certain bat or one of the three I mentioned? Thank You scott
All three bats that you are considering would be good bats. Based on you son's height/weight, we would recommend going with a 31 inch model. The DeMarini CF and the Easton MAKO will be very similar as these bats will both be two-piece, fully composite and balanced designed bats. Meanwhile, the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL will be a two-piece, balanced weight distribution and feature an alloy barrel with a composite handle. Comes down to personal preference at this point - do you prefer composite barrel or alloy? All three bats will feature similar performance and any difference will be minimal.
Cameron
How does the length of the barrel compare to the 2015 Overlord? NCCY
The barrel length of the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL and the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD FT Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL are going to be very similar. The taper on the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD FT Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL starts a little earlier than the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL. With that said, the sweet spots on both are going to be very close to the same and any difference would be small and as such insignificant.
Cameron
What's the difference between 2015 Voodoo and 2016 model? eddy
The differences between the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL and the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD FT Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL are the following: Connection Point (RAW has D-Fusion 2.0 handle technology compared to D-Fusion for the OVERLORD) and the end cap (RAW has low pro end cap while the OVERLORD has the ION-V end cap). The other differences (balanced feel and sweet spot/barrel size) are going to be minimal between the two years.
Cameron
What is the break in process for the 2016 Voodoo RAW? matl13
Since this 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) has an alloy barrel, no break-in period will be necessary. It will be at peak performance out of the wrapper.
Ben
My daughter is 8 years old. Can girls use this bat? farm girl
If your daughter is playing fastpitch softball, then this 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) would not be allowed for use. A model with a similar -13 length-to-weight ratio that would be allowed for fastpitch use is the DeMarini Bustos Fastpitch Softball Bat (DXBFP). I would recommned taking a look at that bat.
Ben
For a 11 year old weighing 70 lbs., is 4'9" tall, not very strong, makes contact, but wants more bat speed and solid contact which would you recommend? The DeMarini Voodoo Raw or Easton S2 YBS213? NJA
The 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) is going to be end-loaded and is designed for stronger hitters who are for something with some more weight to increase bat speed. So this bat would not be a good option for your player. I would definitely recommend the Easton S2 instead. It's a balanced bat and designed for hitters like your player.
Jake
Is the Voodoo approved for Little League use? jeremy
Yes, this 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) will be legal for use in the following divisions of Little League Baseball: (Tee Ball, Minor, 9-10, Major, Intermediate and Junior).
Ben
Will this bat meet the new USABat certification that will be going into affect in Jan. 2018? Zack
This 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) would not be legal for use in a league that will be requiring bats to have the USABat certification in 2018.
Ben
does this bat need to be broken in or is it game ready? matt
No, the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL features an alloy barrel and will be "hot out of the wrapper".
Nick
Is this bat legal for Cal Ripken league? kdog
Yes, this 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) will be legal for the following divisions of Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken league: (T-Ball, Rookie, Minor, Major/60 and Major/70).
Ben
My son is 4'8" and 83 pounds (power hitter). He has a 28"/18 oz MAKO, but it feels heavy to him. What size bat should I get him and would this be a good fit? laura
This 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) has a -13 length-to-weight ratio on it which will make it feel extremely light if you were to compare it to a model of the same length in the MAKO (-10 models). I am thinking that you might be more interested in a bat that features less of an extreme difference in weight. My suggestion would be to view a 28" bat with a -11 length-to-weight ratio so that he can get something with a lighter 17 oz weight (a 28"/17 oz model would be solid for him now, but may not offer something into which he could grow as he gets bigger).
Ben
My son is 47" tall and weighs 50 lbs. and plays in a machine pitch league. What size bat would you recommend for him? dlc_1981
If you choose to go with a 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) I would recommend a 28". I would also recommend looking at a 27" 2016 Marucci Hex Alloy Youth Baseball Bat (MYBHA12).
Jake
My son is a large 8 year old at 57" tall and 98 pounds. He is currently using a 29"/17 oz bat. I want to see him improve on making contact (he already has enough power). He needs a bat for Little League and Travel. I am considering the following: this Demarini Voodoo (-13), the Easton S2 (-13), and the Demarini CF8 (-11). 31" bats seem to slow him down and I want something that will work for now. Should I get the 31" Voodoo, the 31" S2, or the 30" CF8? ROBERT WOOD
Based upon your player's height and weight, our JustBats' Bat Coach recommendation would be for a 30" bat. In my opinion, I think the most natural progression from his last size of bat would be to move to a 30" bat. Because of that, my suggestion would also be for a 30" model. The 19 oz weight of the 30" option of the CF8 might be a little heavy to help him effectively work on his contact hitting. You could get a 30"/17 oz size of this 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL). This Youth RAW will actually be pretty balanced and shouldn't feature much (if any) end-load to it. The same thought would go for the S2 as it has the same -13 length-to-weight ratio. I also think that staying at the same 17 oz weight would help him work on his bat control for better contact as well.
Ben
Can this bat be used in cooler temperatures? scttsln
Ideally you do not want to use the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL in temperatures below 55 degrees.
Jason
My son is 5'1" and 140 lbs. He has a 31"/20 oz bat and it is too heavy. I am considering a 30"/17 oz RAW. Do you think this would work? DD
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would recommend getting a Youth bat (2 1/4" barrel diameter) with a 31" or 32" length to it. Sadly, we are out of stock of this 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) in all size options at JustBats. However, if you can find a 31" or 32" model of this bat, I would recommend considering those sizes. Either option would feature a weight lighter than the 20 oz weight swung recently by your player.
Ben
My son is 5'5" tall, 100 lbs and 12 years old. I was wondering if this bat would be too light and small for him? DJ
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL in a 31 inch model. However, the drop 13 length to weight ratio may very well be too light for a player of his age and stature. All depends on the weight of the bat that he is currently using and how well he can handle it. Would recommend consulting with a local coach who knows his swing to determine the proper weight of the bat.

My son will be 7 in a month. He weighs 52 pounds and about 50 inches tall. Would you recommend this bat if so what size should I get him? Rob
The 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL would be a good option, but we do not have any available, as it is a discontinued model. I would recommend a 28 inch in length based on his height and weight. The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Youth Baseball Bat: DXVBL is another DeMarini option.
Linsey
We still have this bat around, I assume it is not USA bat compliant? Can you tell me what is similar in a -13, 29 in 16 oz? I hope the new bats don't handicap smaller players. matt
At this time there would not be a USA bat that would be comparable to the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL. Currently, the smallest USA bats that are not tee ball would be made in 27 inches with a weight of 15 ounces. These bats all have a 2 1/4" barrel diameter. As of now the only composite USA bat that DeMarini is making is the 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUFX. This bat is only made in 30-32 inch sizes.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
