Description

Expect Nothing but RAW POWER from the DeMarini Voodoo RAW.

Everything about this bat is tailored specifically for the biggest and baddest hitters on the planet. The Voodoo RAW's massive barrel is forged from DeMarini's most responsive alloy yet - X12. Not only does this innovative material create a huge, forgiving sweet spot, but it creates the slightly end loaded swing weight that gives the Voodoo RAW its famous baseball-crushing power potential. That extra mass is strategically added into the hitting zone so that players can attack pitches with the most power possible. The newest addition to the Voodoo's frame this year would be the D-Fusion 2.0 technology. An extra-stiff flex is created at the joint connecting this hybrid's alloy barrel to its composite handle. End loaded swing weight and stiff flex = the exact recipe you need for the biggest sky-scraping moonshots. With the new Voodoo RAW, simply throw your hands, and watch it fly.

The DeMarini Voodoo RAW Senior League Baseball Bat: WTDXVD5 features a 2 5/8" barrel diameter, -5 length to weight ratio, the USSSA BPF 1.15 Certification, and is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Smooth bat, nice pop Baseball Dad parent

Pros: Just picking up this bat you can't help to notice how well made and solid this bat is. It is end loaded and has a lot of mass in the barrel and has a big sweet spot. If you like end loaded bats hen this is the way to go if you can get it through the zone, Has a lot of pop. My 13 year old went from a drop 10 Easton XL to this drop 5 RAW and had no problem with the transition.

Cons: The only con I can see is that you have to be strong to swing this bat smoothly through the zone. Its big, heavy, and end loaded but its a monster if you can swing it.

It's OK Coach Frank parent

Pros: I like the feel and weight of the bat. I got the 32 inch. I'm a little disappointed this year. This is out 3rd Voodoo he has been getting one the last 3 years. The Overlord and the Overlord FT I felt had more pop and less vibration. Also I compared barrels and the barrel length is about and inch shorter this year.

Cons: I wish Demarini didn't make such drastic changes this season to a bat that led college and high school last year. I'm pretty disappointed.

How does this bat compare to last years Voodoo Overlord? deebo
The 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVD5, when compared to the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD FT Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVD5, will have the following in common: X12 alloy barrel, end-loaded swing weight, and RCK knob. What was changed in the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVD5 was the end cap and the connection point (D-Fusion 2.0 handle compared to the D-Fusion FT handle with the OVERLORD FT; essentially the D-Fusion 2.0 reduces the vibration more).

Is this bat legal for Babe Ruth League? Dan
The 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVD5 is legal for Babe Ruth play in the 13-15 division. If playing in the 16-18 division, this bat would not be approved as it is not BBCOR certified.

My son is 13 yrs old. Going to the big field now. About 4'10" and 100 lbs. He is a contact hitter with little power. Will this be a good bat for him? Dan
The 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVD5 is a very good two-piece hybrid (alloy barrel and composite handle) bat with an end-loaded swing weight. This bat is a drop 5 model and would be a great fit for a player that is one year away from entering high school and the BBCOR era. Here at JustBats, we would recommend a drop 8 bat for a player that is two years away from entering high school and BBCOR bats.
Cameron
Is this bat legal for 50/70 (Intermediate Little League) use? Poppi
The 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVD5 will be legal for play within the 50/70 division of Little League.
John P.

Would this be a good bat for a kid that is 5'3" and 140 lbs? Would you have him swing a drop -5 or -9? Midland Blackhawks
Based upon your height and weight, I would recommend this 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVD5) in the 31" length. As long as you can handle the the end-loaded 26 oz weight of the 31" option of this bat, I would recommend that sizing for you. Typically, you want to swing the longest and heaviest bat that you can handle. Therefore, if you can handle the 26 oz weight of the 31" model of this bat, I would recommend that size to maximize your performance.
Ben
My 12 year old son is 5'4" tall and weighs 105 lbs. What size should he swing? Noah
For a player of his size, I would recommend getting the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVD5 in the 31" 26 oz. size.
Marcus
What is the sound of this bat? No Fear
This 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVD5) is a hybrid bat (alloy barrel and composite handle). Because of that design, the bat will provide a faint "ping" noise at contact with a baseball. However, the "ping" will not be as distinct as the "ping" you would hear off a bat that was built with an all-alloy construction.
Ben
Is this bat BBCOR approved? jj
The 2016 DeMarini Voodoo RAW Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVD5 is not BBCOR approved as it is not a -3 model. This would be the BBCOR model: 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Insane BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVIC.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
