Description

The team at COMBAT said that "something big" was in the works. But the bat that emerged has pushed through the boundaries of what was even considered possible with a composite bat design! Introducing: the new COMBAT MAXUM! COMBAT has made a name for themselves in the bat industry by consistently delivering bats that offer an extreme combination of a light swing weight and HUGE sweet spot, but the MAXUM takes the crown in both categories. This COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 provides not only the largest sweet spot in the industry offered in a Youth (2 1/4") model, but it totes the lightest swing weight (by a full ounce) of any COMBAT Youth model ever! These bats are one-piece composite designs created through advanced Precision Molding Technology (PMT). Unlike typical composite bats that are created by rolling/overlapping layers of material, the PMT process injects liquid resin into seamless high-quality carbon sleeves under extreme pressure. The result is an ultra-consistent product that eliminates seams/weak points that you get with the traditional process. That means that players can rest-assured that the MAXUM will deliver perfectly tuned performance over a longer lifespan. COMBAT is so sure of this ground-breaking design, they're backing each MAXUM model with a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. The MAXYB110 carries the USSSA BPF 1.15 Certification mark on its taper and is approved for play in Little League Baseball, USSSA, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and Babe Ruth. COMBAT: Measure Up to MAXUM! Nice bat Derrick parent

Pros: My 9yr old son has had this bat for about 2 weeks, bought him a 31/21, he has the mako also 31/20. The combat definately feels lighter, the mako seems top heavy. The combat has plenty of pop out of the box and will only get stronger. the biggest thing ive noticed is the combat hits line drives all over where the mako is more of a homerun bat. both quality bats with different results depending on the hitter.

Cons: nothing yet

Great One Piece Balanced Composite Bat with Pop! Baseball-in-WV coach

Pros: This is a high performance one piece composite bat that is very well balanced with a low swing weight. It is extremely hot out of the wrapper and even more so once broke in. It has a huge barrel and swings lighter than the equivalent -11 MAKO with equal results when the ball is hit squarely. Note: the MAKO is a great bat but is typically about two ounces heavier than advertised when put on a scale and feels a bit more top heavy than the Combat. This bat is perfect for those kids/coaches who want a true to length/weight bat that will perform just as well as the MAKO with a more balanced feel. It has outstanding performance. Try it, I think both players and coaches out there will be impressed. Great job Combat on creating a product that can truly perform with Easton!

Cons: None! Note: this bat is not end loaded and it is not a two piece bat. If you are looking for these features this is not the bat for you.

Not what is claimed Heather parent

Pros: Nice balanced feel.

Cons: Not the size it claimed to be. We ordered a 31" bat and received a bat that was labeled as 31". He used it for a while and we thought it looked just a little big for him. Then we compared it to the other bats in the dugout and realized it was actually a 32" that was mislabeled. Very frustrating. Questionable durability. Seems to lose its pop after just a couple months.

Broke during first use! Rob parent

Pros: Can't really think of any pros when the bat broke during its first time being used.

Cons: The bat cracked towards the top of the grip while my son was using it in practice for the first time! He was hitting really well with it before it broke but that doesn't really count for much when you get about 20 swings out of a $300 bat.

Great One Piece Balanced Composite Bat with Pop! CoachinWV coach

Pros: A balanced -10 one piece composite bat that has a low swing weight. 2/14" barrel with large sweet spot. This bat swings lighter than the equivalent Mako but has just as much pop. It has been a favorite in the dugout recently.

Cons: This is a one piece bat, if you are looking for a two piece composite this is not for you

littleleaguepop parent

Pros: My son has always had the Easton XL1 and Easton Mako in his batpack. He swings both with BAD INTENTIONS! I am not one to change bats companies midstream, however, have returned to COMbat. Their B1 and B2 DaBomb are the things legends are made from, however COMbat become overly conservative in their composite line the next few years (limited pop). Fast forward, my son is knocking the cover off the ball with the COMbat Maxum -10. He is driving the ball farther than his Mako and right there with the XL1. The COMbat has a larger sweet spot than the Mako and almost as much powere as the XL1, without sacrificing the balanced feel. The difference is, he hits harder shots consistently with his COMbat than XL1. This bat is a Hero maker – THE best youth bat, bar none for 2016, put it in your sons hands, you will not regret it.

Cons: No Cons – Buy this bat, allow your son the feel of confidence and success at the plate.

Great Overall!!!! Chuck parent

Pros: My son took this bat out of the wrapper and Bam He hit the ball farther then he ever has. He had a Louisville 2104 Attack 29/17 and now has the Combat Maxum drop 10. He is 4'9" and weighs 75lbs. He never really had pop to his ball until he put this bat in his hand. Now the ball just flys off the bat. He is hitting the ball to the fence now. Everyone said it looked like a softball bat cause the barrel is big almost all the way to the handle, but that is maybe the bigger sweet spot. 2 games and already hit it to the fence multiple times.

Cons: None yet.

Best bat for true hitters DOug parent

Pros: Best bat for true hitters, not power/homerun hitters. I was taught to hit like tony Gwynn, line drives/ gapers. That how I taught him and how he swings. So do you research if you kids hits for power this bat is not way to go but is still awesome. The bat is a drop ten and feels lighter then a drop 12 S1 Easton. It is perfectly balanced and one piece composite. Before I got this bat I did not realize that the S1 Easton was end weighted. Perfect bat for hitters with quick hands that swing through the zone more level. Makos are end weight and do cause the barrel and hands to drop resulting in a more upper cut swing. Great pop and not problem with vibration. My son is eight, short and stalky and uses 28 drop 10

Cons: Non so far

MAXUM Shawn parent

Pros: Swings lighter when compared to the Mako (-11) but has a larger sweet spot. Combat rep said bat is hot out of wrapper, no break in required.

Cons: Ball doesn't jump off the bat as much as the Mako (-11). This is a one piece bat so there is more vibration on mis-hits.

Great Bat...but not for strong kids Jim J parent

Pros: Feels great, sounds even better. It has a ton of pop out of the wrapper and love the lizard skin and color.

Cons: Not very durable. Now granted my kid is 5'5", 160lbs 11 year old and within 3 weeks cracked it. He's strong...bat speed in the low 80's. So if your kid is strong and swings with awful intentions, maybe not the best bat.

Just ok Daddy Easton parent

Pros: - Feels very light for a -10 - Larger barrel than standard 2 1/4" bats - Comes with lizard skin grip

Cons: - Not as much pop as my son's mako I have been reading great things about Combat bats for a while so when it came time to get a new bat for my 10 yo son I figured I'd have him try it. He loved the feel, felt very light to him. Pop didn't seem great out of the wrapper but I thought it had to be broken in. He used this bat for both travel ball and house ball all spring. Just this past weekend I had him switch back to his 2015 Mako for the heck of it. Second at bat he hit his first home run over the fence. The Combat isn't a bad bat, but in my opinion the pop just doesn't compare to the Mako. We'll be sticking with Easton bats moving forward.

Son Loves this Bat Baseball Mom parent

Pros: Looks large with extra long barrel design making it easier to even get a hit on those inside pitches. Love this design and longer sweet spot. Definitely feels lighter than the Mako Torq in -10 as it's very nicely balanced. My son had predominately hit grounders with his DeMarini CF8, then he started using this bat and he consistently hits line drives up the middle. The style and design definitely work for my son. The sound this bat makes is awesome. He chooses this for game time over his Mako Torq. Love the lizard grip too!

Cons: The only con is that it's a composite and he can't use it in some leagues (who have banned composite from play). Wish Combat made this same bat in an alloy design. Jury is still out on durability, but thus far...the Mako Torq shows more wear than his Combat and he's hit more with the Combat than the Mako Torq.

Get this bat before its gone. Best bat for the $ BaseballDad coach

Pros: Very good "Pop". Balanced bat that any type of hitter can use. Largest sweet spot of all the super bats. Lizzard Skin grip is outstanding. Durable so far.

Cons: Takes close to 500 hits to break in bat will give vibration if hit on the tip or just above the hands.

no pop Mad Dad parent

Pros: Its light.

Cons: This bat has the least pop of any bat my son has used. There is a reason it has gone from $279 to $99. The only nice thing is the bat does swing very light, but the ball goes no where. We kept thinking it just needs to be broken in. That is definitely not the problem. I never write reviews, but i guess I'm a little salty about spending almost $300 on a bat that is dead.

Great bat - huge barrel, big sweet spot Larry Griff parent

Pros: Any good bat has the same "pop", it's about barreling the ball up on the sweet spot. If you can swing a -10, this bat is fantastic. Great for handling inside pitches, the barrel is bigger than most bats, more balls hit the big part of the bat. My son says it feels like a drop 13. Make a great crack sound when you barrel one up. At the price we got this, it's a steal, this is a legit $250+ bat.

Cons: If you're used to a two piece - composite handle, alloy barrel bat, this bat will have more vibration. Less than a one piece metal bat though. It's worth it.

Extreme Value John T. parent

Pros: Balance, biggest sweet spot possible, feels lighter than it is, quality grip tape (doesn't have to be replaced immediately like that other brand), first one piece, first Combat, my 12 yr. old has tried and it really is a step up in how he performs at bat. With the 2 piece Mako that vibrates after one year and has no consistency on placement (yes, 3 home runs, but many more in the dirt), with this Combat, he has become a solid line drive machine. The finish durability has been heads above the other brand, too. Price is (year old, big deal, still new) phenominal, it's almost like discovering a treasure!

Cons: None so far.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How does this compare to the Portent? Is it the same composite material that is used in the Portent? Scott
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) will have a lighter swing weight and a bigger sweet spot than the COMBAT Portent Youth Baseball Bat (PORYB110). The composite material will be slightly upgraded to allow for these design features.
Patrick
Does the -10 have larger sweet spot than the -12 Maxum? joe
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) will have a slight longer barrel compared to the -12 MAXUM Youth model.
John
What is the break in period for this bat? poo
To break in the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) you will need to hit 150-200 swings off of a tee rotating 1/4 of an inch on each swing.
Frankie
Does the Youth Combat Maxum have a bigger sweet spot than the Youth Easton Mako? Also, are the composite materials similar? Pops
The composite material on the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) and the 2015 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKX) would be very comparable. The barrel size is also very similar. They bath have extended barrels for an extra large sweet spot. They are too close in size to determine which one may be slightly larger. The major difference between the two would be the one-piece verse two piece design.
Patrick
Is this bat getting more ''pop'' than the Mako? In my opinion ''none of the bats are the same'' there's always one that has an edge. tiebreaker
"Pop" is more of a term that refers to the skill of the player rather than a measurable feature of the bat. In reality, bats that are rated to the same 1.15 BPF standard will all perform to the same peak level at their best. What you should be looking for is design features that set the bats apart. For example; feel of the bat (one-piece versus two-piece, balanced versus end-loaded, amount of flex or sting prevention, etc) and durability. Durability will determine how long that bat lasts at its peak level. Both the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) and the 2015 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL15MK9) are both great options. The MAKO will provide a bit more flex for increased bat speed and sting prevention while the MAXUM allows for more control of the bat and a slightly more extended barrel for a bit larger sweet spot.
Patrick
Compare the Marucci Hex Composite to the Combat Maxum -10. What are the pros and cons for each bat? dad looking
The main difference between these two is the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) has a larger sweet spot with a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. Also, the MAXUM is a one piece bat vs. the two-piece construction of the Hex.
Chinyere
A rep from Combat just advised me that the Combat Maxum is ready to go out of the package without any break in period. Is this true? Griz
The advanced composite construction of the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) does not necessarily require a break-in process to be game ready but may see added benefit from a short round of soft toss while rotating the barrel to get it performing to expected levels.
Patrick
My son is 49 inches and weighs about 54 pounds. What would be the right bat size in the COMBAT Little League bat? E
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 30" model in the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110).
Jason
My son is 9 yrs, and is 4'6" at 78 lbs. What size Combat MAXUM should he use? We currently have the 2015 Mako XL 30/20, but it just seems a bit heavy. He's had a home run with it and some awesome hits, but since moving up to it, his number of quality hits are few and far between. etcket
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 in a 29 inch 19 ounce model.
Cameron
My son is 8 years old this Saturday. He is 44" and 48 lbs. Is the 27/17 the correct size and weight? Waldemar
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 27" 17 oz version of the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110.
Jason
My son is 8 years old, 50" tall and weighs about 78 lbs. What bat length should I get him? Davgar
Based on your son's height and weight, I would recommend that he swing a 30" bat.
Nick
My son is 11 yrs old, is 5'1" and weighs about 115 lbs. What size and length of bat should I get? Davgar
Based on your son's height and weight, I would recommend the he swing a 31" bat. The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 features a -10 length to weight ratio, so this bat in a 31" length will feature a 21 oz. weight.
Nick
My son is 7 years old. He is 49" tall and weighs about 60 lbs. What bat length should I get him? IFisch
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 in a 28 inch 18 ounce model.
Cameron
I purchased the Combat DaBomb but it was outlawed before he broke it in. Which bat has comparable pop or even exceeds it? He is 9 yrs old and weighs about 80 lbs. He was crushing the ball with that bat before they took it away, now he struggles with his DeMarini CF6. Jeff
The bats that will be comparable to the COMBAT B2 Composite Youth Baseball Bat: B2YB1 -12 in terms of performance would be the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 and the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11, with the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 being the closest (as this bat also features the one-piece composite design).
Cameron
I was told my kid, who is playing 9U travel and rec ball, can use a composite bat in rec league as long as it's stamped BBCOR. I just sent a message to a Combat representative about this bat and he said that bats stamped BBCOR are for high school and up. Could someone help me with this? Bill
Typically BBCOR bats are used in high school and collegiate play. All BBCOR bats have a -3 length to weight ratio. If your son's league allows BBCOR composite bats then he can certainly use one, however it will be very heavy for a 9 year old and he will have trouble getting the bat around.
Angelique
My son is 9 years old, 55" tall and weighs about 115 lbs. He has a pretty quick swing. Would you recommend the 2016 Combat Maxum (-10) or 2016 Combat Maxum (-12)? fred
Based upon your player's height and weight, we would recommend going with a 30" option of a Youth bat (2 1/4" barrel diameter). I would make a recommendation based upon the weight that your player can handle. If you feel that the 20 oz weight of the 30" option of this 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) will be best, then get this bat in that size. However, if 18 oz will be better for your player, be sure and get the 30" option of the MAXUM (-12).
Ben
What does the "30 no risk guarantee" cover? frosty
If for any reason you are not satisfied with the performance of the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 within 30 days, you are able to send it back to us for either a full refund or exchange.
Marcus
Trying to decide between a -10 and -12. My son is 11 and pretty tiny, but his hands are quick. He's been using a teammate's -12 (over his Vexxum) and doing well. I think this MAXUM is even more balanced than the Vexxum. Does the -10 MAXUM have the same balance point as the -12 MAXUM? Nicole C
This -10 model and the -12 will both be very comparable in their balanced feel. If your son is doing well with a -12 and you want the model that he will be able to use best at this current time period, I would recommend going with the -12 option of the MAXUM. However, if you want a model into which he will be able to grow as he gets older, I would recommend getting an option of this 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110).
Ben
My son is 6, 47" with cleats and 62 lbs. Currently swings a 26/14 2015 model MAKO. He's going to coach pitch this fall and I am being told he should be swinging a 28" bat. Do you recommend the -12 MAXUM and if so, what length? LSG
Our bat coach says that somebody with the height and weigh you described typically swings a 27" bat, but you could definitely go up to a 28" bat if you preferred. The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -12 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB112) in a 27" 15 oz would be a great option for your son.
Carter
My son is 4'5" and weighs about 65 lbs. I am torn between picking up the 29 or 30 inch bat for him. What does your bat expert think? Silas
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 in a 29 inch 19 ounce model. This bat features a very balanced swing weight as well as a 30 day guarantee so if you decided to go with the longer bat (30 inches) you could certainly do that and if it wasn't the correct fit you could always send it back for the shorter bat within 30 days of your purchase date.
Cameron
My new combat MAXUM after a week of use has a crack that is like a v pattern on it is this normal and a part of the break-in process? Broball42
It is not uncommon to see smaller hairline cracking in composite bats like the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110). It generally means the composite materials are expanding and the bat is becoming hotter.
Jake
My 12 year old son is 6'0", 185 lbs and getting ready to play in a Little League tournament. He had success with a 31"/23 oz in a big barrel during the off-season. What's the recommendation for a 2 1/4" bat? AwesomeBaseballMom
My recommendation would be to get 2 1/4" barrel bat in the longest 32" length and get a model with a -10 length-to-weight ratio. Unfortunately, the largest option available of this 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) would be the 31"/21 oz size. Another option I would recommend viewing is the 2016 COMBAT Portent G4 Youth Baseball Bat (PG4YB110) which is available in the 32"/22 oz size.

I saw a question about a 30 day no risk guarantee on this bat. Is that still available? L
Unfortunately, the 2016 line of MAXUMS no longer feature the 30 day trial period from JustBats or COMBAT. Therefore, this 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) no longer features a 30 day no trial period on it. However, if you were interested, the new 2017 line of COMBAT MAXUMs do feature the 30 Day trial period.

How does the COMBAT MAXUM relate to the Easton MAKO XL in terms of feel? EBC123
The two bats will offer a different feel. The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 offers a balanced feel (evenly weighted) while the Easton MAKO XL offers and end loaded feel (end weighted).

Is this bat considered a 'big barrel' bat? JP
This 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) will feature a 2 1/4" barrel diameter and won't be considered a big barrel baseball bat (big barrel bats have a 2 5/8" or 2 3/4" barrel).
Ben
As mentioned this is a more balanced and Mako is more end loaded. What are advantages of each more power vs contact? My son is 11 about 85 lbs. He currently is using DeMarini CF7. Nick R
Both the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) and the Easton Mako are actually both balanced bats. The Mako XL is an end loaded bat. Here is a good link that really explains the pros and cons of balanced and end loaded bats - http://blog.justbats.com/bats-balanced-versus-end-loaded

Does this have a similar feel to the 2016 Combat Portent G4 youth bat (-10)? It seems like the Maxum is an upgrade, but I'd be looking for a light, balanced feel like the Portent has. Damian
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 has a lighter swing weight than the 2016 COMBAT Portent G4 Youth Baseball Bat: PG4YB110, but other than that, they are very comparable bats.

I am 13, 5'10" and 135 pounds. What length should I use? joe
We would recommend getting the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 in a 33''.

I am 12 yrs old, 58.5 inches and weigh 107 lbs. What Little League Combat bat is best for me? Evan
I would recommend the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110, but the 32" 22oz size that we have available may be a bit big for you. You might want to consider the 2016 COMBAT Portent G4 Youth Baseball Bat: PG4YB110 in a 30" or 31" size.

My son is 9. He has above average size and weight, but is an average hitter and needs to focus on swing speed. He is swinging an Easton S3 Series (29"/16 oz). How would this compare? Brent
If you feel that your player can step up to a Youth bat (2 1/4" barrel) with a -10 length-to-weight ratio, then this 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat (MAXYB110) would certainly be a bat to consider. Unfortunately, for our stock of this MAXYB110, we would only have the 32"/22 oz size available in stock. I might suggest first looking to a bat with a -11 or -12 length-to-weight ratio on it and a 30" length.
Ben
Is there a break in period with this bat or is it ready to go out of the package? Tim
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 is a composite bat and will need to a break in period before it is game ready. We recommend 150-250 swings off a tee of soft toss at about 60% of max swing effort. After each swing one will need to rotate the barrel a 1/4 turn.

The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Youth Baseball Bat: MAXYB110 in a 30'' 20 oz. is the right size for him. If he is struggling to get the barrel around the 29'' 19 oz.
