Description

Many of the best teams in college and high school softball were swinging the Louisville Slugger Xeno this past year! That's because they learned the old fashioned way which bat was the hottest: through thousands of hours of practice and play. The dedication that Louisville Slugger put in to create the Xeno design really shines through in this year's model, and it all starts with S1iD Technology. This technology actually allows the barrel to be tuned to exceed the legal ball exit speed ratio. The catch is that a governor is placed inside that allows the barrel to flex to its MAXIMUM allowable performance from SWING 1. The Xeno features a 100% composite design, yet due to the S1iD technology, it needs ABSOLUTELY ZERO BREAK-IN! The Xeno features an iST design that gives this bat a solid connection between the barrel and handle. iST provides players a bat with a solid feel and HUGE sweetspot, while absorbing vibrations from mis-hit balls before they reach the hands. With a tacky synthetic grip a 7/8 inch handle, the Xeno will give players absolute control at the plate. If you are a fastpitch player looking for THE top-of-the-line bat this season, look no further than the TPS Xeno! Louisville Slugger: Leave Your Mark! The Xeno is approved by ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA and ISF. This bat comes with a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Too Much Pop for Small Ball Texas Softball's Finest parent

Pros: Purchased bat for daughter for the transition from coach pitch (8U) to player pitch (10U). Daughter has learned how to be a very effective slapper with every dimension. When she bunts with the Xeno, the ball goes much much further than she wants and is a medium grounder versus a true bunt. When she swings away, she absolutely love it!

Cons: Too many teammates want to use it!!!!

Better than 2014 Texas SB Dad parent

Pros: Great Pop Feels lighter than it is My girls have used the the 2013 and 2014 models of the Xeno and LXT. In my opinion, the 2015 Xeno is the best so far.

Cons: Grip Tape: the grip is fine but every Louisville bat we have owned ends up needing new tape to hold the grip within a pretty short time frame.

I LOVE THIS BAT!! Jenna player

Pros: Has a very good pop to it & the ball travels pretty far. Experienced batting from both sides, it is very light which is great for a slapper like me. You literally can't feel when the ball hits the barrel. The grip is very good as well.

Cons: I got nothing bad to say

Got plunked by Louisville Rhonda oakey parent

Pros: We bought the 2014. At the end of our season during fall & winter practices, we noticed the end cap was coming off. Still under warranty, sent it back to Louisville. 18 u player Worked nicely for 2 weeks. Played 3 games. Homer in the 2nd game. Bat broke in the 3rd. My daughter was very disappointed. Upon the inspection of the broken bat we noticed an "R" stamped on the end cap. It wasn't a pattern it was random. We assume they sent us a poor quality bat. It is disappointing to fork out all this cash and put a lot into effort towards a game and have a highly recognized company send us a rejected or returned bat. She wants same 1 but should I fork out another 400 to a company who do not make quality products.: (. My daughter is also a catcher & huge fan of Busyer Posey , whom is an endorser of your products. : (

Cons: Bat broke after a couple weeks we got ripped off.

Falling apart after 2 weeks Disapointed parent

Pros: None so far.

Cons: Last years model was great. This years 2015 model not so good. The end cap is separating from the barrel and the center rubber ring has a bevel in it. This should not happen after just 2 weeks.

Broke in half within 2 weeks Matt S. player

Pros: None

Cons: I play men's fast pitch. This bat was used only a handful of times (34/24 model) and literally broke in half at the 2-piece connection within two weeks of receiving it. L.S. is replacing under warranty, but I definitely won't be purchasing anything from L.S. again. Not only that, but that bat didn't seem to have much pop anyways.

Was hoping for more CoachBroker coach

Pros: The bat has held up well and has been a good bat but I was really expecting it to be better. My daughter used DeMarinis prior to getting this bat and has always had big hits to the fence in 10u. I bought this bat at Christmas and was thinking that it would produce even bigger hits. After coming to the conclusion that her dropping batting average and fewer big hits might actually be the bat (also noticed big hits when she used her CF6 on occasion) she went back to her old bat and began crushing the ball again. I was concerned about the durability but this bat has held up well. I just don't think she swings it as well as a truly balanced bat. Seems to be a great bat for some girls, just not my kid.

Cons: Very end loaded for a "Balanced" bat. The weight seems much heavier than the advertised weight. Did not have the pop I was expecting out of this bat which really shocks me to say.

Dead within the first 4 months Elizabeth player

Pros: Despite how short-lived my bat was, it did help me with a few good hits. I also like the design and the outer structure of the bat.

Cons: Many people say that this is a fantastic, durable, long-lasting bat. Yet, the first four months of my purchase, my coach had declared my bat dead. It was safe to say I was extremely dissapointed.

Is it okay to hit with these bats in the cold? sunny
We do not recommend using bats like the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) in weather below 55 degrees. At that point, the ball rather than the bat is what sees issues. The inner workings of the ball can condense and become harder which will cause damage to the bat because it becomes something the bat was not designed to hit.
Patrick

I have a general fastpitch bat question. On another website it says all high school and college fastpitch bats needed to have a drop of -3. Is this correct? All of the bats I see for sale have drops in the range of -8 to -10. Terri
For girls fastpitch the sizes of -8 to -11 are allowed and very common. The -3 drop size is mandatory for high school and college baseball only. The 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) would be a great choice. It will be fully composite and have really good durability and performance.

The 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) is very balanced and fully composite. It will feature a two-piece design. The LXT is also very balanced and fully composite. It will feature Slugger's new TRU-3 3-piece design. Both will have great pop and performance.

My 15 year old plays varsity high school softball, weighs 130 lbs. and is 5'3". What size of bat would be best for her? Mel
For a player of her size, our bat coach would recommend the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) in a 32" 22 oz. model.
Joe
Does my 11 year old, 92 lb. player need a 30" 20 oz. model or a 31" 21 oz. model? KO
For a player of her size, our bat coach would recommend the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) in a 31" 21 oz. model.
Joe
Is it true that hitting dimple balls out of pitching machine wears composite bats down? john
Using the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) or any other composite bat with the dimpled cage balls because the density of these balls is far greater than that of a normal softball or baseball. The bats are not designed to hit with balls of that density and are thus far more likely to be damaged.

We would recommend not hitting the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) or any other composite or alloy model in temperatures below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. The balls will actually become more dense in colder temperatures and can possibly damage the bat on impact.

If a certain power hitter is looking for a two-piece, all-composite bat with a balanced swing weight, then the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) could be an option for that player. Is it normal for the XENO 31" 20 oz to make a clanking noise when you hit the ball? I have bought one and have sent it back already. I got the 2nd one in and it does the same thing. Steve
The 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) features the S1iD Technology. That technology in the bat is what makes the clanking sound you are hearing. This is common with every XENO bat and it is simply the S1iD technology in the barrel of the bat that is making the sound. This does not affect the performance of the bat though as this technology is designed to make the bat hot out of the wrapper.

Based on your daughter's height and weight, we would recommend going with the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN150 in a 32 inch 22 oz model. With that being said, if her bat speed is lacking at times we would suggest staying with the 31 inch 21 oz model for one more year.
Cameron
Is the Xeno bat a good bat for younger players in 8-10 age range or is a bat for older players? Would you say this bat or a CF7 for a player that age? tim
The 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN150 and the CF7 are both great bats to consider for a younger softball player. Both of these bats are two-piece fully composite designs that will require a break-in period but once they are broken-in these two bats will perform very well. As long as you can find the length and weight you are needing, then it comes down to personal preference on these two bats.
Cameron
I am 14 and I am 5'3" and my weight is 103. I was wondering which bat should I get. I definitely want this XENO but I don't know what weight or size. Naomi
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend getting the Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN150 in a 32 inch 22 ounce model.
Cameron
When will the 33" be in stock? Brandon
The Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN150 is the 2015 model and it is discontinued. Since Louisville Slugger is no longer making the bat, we will not be getting anymore 33" models in stock.
Jason
My almost 10 year old is 4 ft. 10 in. and weighs 72 pounds. She's been swinging a 30/17 and a 30/18, but not getting the performance she wants. She likes Xeno & LXT. What is the difference between the two? Which one would be better for her? Kelley C
(1) Based upon her height and weight, we would make a general recommend of a bat with a 31" length. (2) The biggest difference between the bats will be the connection point. This Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) will not have the TRU-3 connection point to further limit vibration, like the LXT. That will be the biggest difference. (3) Both the XENO and LXT are available in -11 models. For performance, I think that I would make a recommendation of either. However, I think that maybe a 30"/19 oz size would be best for now to prevent having her make a huge jump in weight on her bat.
Ben
I just got this bat and went to the batting cages and hit dimple balls. Did I mess up my bat? baseball boy
Your Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) will most likely not have any damage from one session of use in a batting cage that uses dimpled cage balls. However, I definitely wouldn't recommend going back to hit with those dimple balls in the future. The reason to avoid use of those balls is because they will be denser than regular baseballs and have the potential to incur damage to the barrel with extended use.
Ben
Do any of these bats have defects or have they been returned since they are 2015? Jerry W
Any of the Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN150 that are listed in new condition will not have any defects or are returned items. These new Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN150 feature a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty.
Cameron
Was wondering if a bat is considered broken when it feels like it has a wobble at the middle of it? okichewy1
Typically, you are not going to want a loose connection point on the bat (that is what it sounds like is being described). A loose connection point will lower the overall performance on the bat and create suspect durability. If you have a model of this Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) and it showing the characteristics described, I would recommend seeking out a warranty replacement model from the manufacturer if you are still under the 12 month manufacturer's warranty period on the bat.
Ben
Why is it discontinued and can you still use it in games? lori
Louisville Slugger has discontinued the manufacturing process of this Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN150 because they have moved on to new models. You can certainly still use it in all certified-approved leagues.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
