Louisville Slugger 715 Mike McCarville player

Pros: The balance and pop of this bat is off the charts. With my old marucci my hands would hurt every time i made contact towards the handle. With this bat i hardly feel a thing, i think it is because of the composite handle. I like the aluminum barrel mixed with the composite handle i think it is great enginuity.

Cons: Slightly barrel heavy but nothing i can't deal with.

Never had a better bat CKnowles player

Pros: The vibration is almost zero, if you couldnt see where the ball hit there would be no way to tell if it hit the endcap, handle, or barrel because as long as the ball meets the barrel it feels like you hit the sweet spot. The pop is amazing even fresh out of the wrapper i was hitting stingers down the lines and bullets into the outfield. The design is awesome and looks amazing. Even my coaches were impressed with the bat.

Cons: The grip is a little slick when you have batting gloves on. Other than that the only other con is having to constantly stop your teammates from trying to use it when youre not looking. All my coaches lined up to take a few swings in the cages as well

Still not the same.... Johnny baseball player

Pros: Great bat. Descent weight distribution. Good pop can definitely drive the ball with this bat. Has a great feel and cool graphic. Louisville slugger did a good job with this bat.

Cons: This bat should not have replace the exo. They need to bring it back

Disappointed in Louisville Slugger Shane G. parent

Pros: Son like the bat, very limited use (<75 swings) so far he like the feel. Haven't been on a field or game with it so too early to tell, it's only been a month.

Cons: The paint is chipping already. Bat has the three spots, about 1/4" size, near the end of the bat where the paint is chipping off. It's flaking off back to the metal. Louisville Slugger calls this normal cosmetic wear, warranty denied? My son has used Easton and Demarini bats since he was 9, none have chipped like this. Stuck with it now.

Select 715 Dinger player

Pros: Absolutely no vibration anywhere, EXTREMELY EASY TO CONTROL, great for the player that gets singles and doubles. Great for stronger contact hitters.

Cons: Paint scratches easily, pop is a little better than average, can't feel the hit, not the most balanced bat, not for the home run hitter.

Son LOVES it John Weaver parent

Pros: My son was a big fan of Marucci before he got the Select 715. Color of bat matches his HS team and you can hardly feel vibration if hit off end or handle. Balls hit on the sweet spot you cant feel. Good pop out of wrapper but probably the same compared to other high end bbcor bats. Sounds more solid compared to other metal bats and has slight end load. Cant go wrong with this bat. Two of his teammates purchased one. I would say the best thing about this bat is the non- vibration. Better than Marucci

Cons: None so far

Really Nice END LOADED BAT 15 player

Pros: I was looking for an end loaded bat, I looked at many. This bat has a very nice , wood like swing feel to it. This is not a balanced bat, this will seem heavier than other bats its weight and length. If you want a balanced bat look at the 915. You need to know what you are looking for. I have not had this long enough to comment on durability, but after a session or two of hitting a few hundred balls, the bat looks like it just came out of the wrapper. For that reason I gave it 5 stars, but truly, only time will tell. Everything else was great about it and I really liked the feel. Tip to all, know what you are looking for and stop buying bats based on the color, look, or gimmick. Also, most bats are weighed pre grip wrap, weighed this and it came in at 30.14 oz on a 32 inch bat. I also swing a Marucci Elite which has a more balanced feel, but since I have been working with wood all off season, I wanted the more end loaded feel. I think I found the right bat for me.

Cons: None so far, but again, not enough time to really give it a full test. Note to all, this does not have an extended barrel like you may find on a lot of composite bats. I think this is a hitter's bat, it has a good taper until you get to the barrel, thus making the end load feel. If you are looking for a balanced bat or a singles hitter bat, this is probably not it. If you need an XL sweet spot, this bat is probably not it. To reiterate from above, buy the right bat for you, not what your friends consider to be a good bat. Bats are bats, some are made better than others, but none possess the magic to make you suddenly hit the ball. You need to put in the work, with work will come knowledge, and then you will know what you want.

Really good Travis Lee player

Pros: The pop on this bat is unbelievable! Better pop than the easton mako, and demarini cf series, any other bat. You can hit it anywhere on the bat and the ball will just shoot off your bat. It has the biggest sweet spot ever made! Also well worth the price.

Cons: Paint chips easily, and it is very top heavy/end loaded. Gotta be able to get the bat head out quickly.

best bbcor I've swung Ashton player

Pros: End-loaded bat that has a nice wood-like crack sound when you line it up. Overall great pop, most of my varsity team loved it and used it all year

Cons: chips easily, don't let everybody else use it (i made that mistake) I'm now looking for a new bat just over a year later

Both the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) and Prime 915 feature the Flex Band Technology that extends their sweet spots and keeps the bat light. One design is not proven to offer a larger sweet spot, so the big difference would be the material the barrel is made from.
Mac

Brandon
Which bat compares to the Exogrid the best, the Prime or the Select? freas34
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) would compare closer to the Louisville Slugger EXOGRID 3 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB13EX) than the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBP9153) because the Select and the Exogrid are both hybrid designs with alloy barrels and composite material in the handle. The Prime has a fully composite design.
Patrick
As a contact hitter looking for a bat that can give more power. I am wondering what bat would be a better choice for me: the Prime 915 or Select 715? baseball
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) is great for a contact hitter looking for more power. The Select 715 has a slightly end loaded swing weight, which is great for increasing a players power.
Jason
Do you have to break-in this bat? And if you do, how would you break it in properly? baseball

Mac
What does it mean by 3-Piece construction? I've never heard of it before. easton
The "three-piece construction" refers to the TRU3 Technology found in the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153). In the connection joint, a pivot point/elastomer combination creates a trampoline effect and strengthens the link between the barrel/handle, providing positive feedback and dramatically reduced vibration on contact.
Mac
Does this bat have the same size sweet spot as the Prime 915? John doe
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBP9153) will have very similarly sized sweet spot areas.
Patrick
What bat is better: the Louisville Prime 915 or the Select 715 Baseball
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBP9153) will differ in construction and feel. The Select 715 will be a two-piece, hybrid model (composite handle and alloy barrel) while the Prime 915 will be a two-piece, all composite model. The Select 715 will be an end-loaded option while the Prime 915 will be balanced. Ultimately, when you decide between the two bats, it will come down to deciding whether you prefer the feel of a composite barrel or an alloy barrel and whether you prefer a end-load or a balanced feel.
Ben
Son is 5'6" 115lbs. He just hit a growth spurt as a sophomore in High-school and is a late bloomer. He hit well last season in High-School. He is more of a contact hitter (the spray chart was pretty balanced). He is growing fast now and has shown crazy power on occasion but is progressing. What model would you recommend? CC
For a player of his size, our bat coach recommends the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) in a 31"28 oz. model. However, depending on how much the player is going to grow, you might consider sizing up to a 32" model.
Joe
My Select 715 has a sand paper like exterior on the parts of the barrel that is black. Is it made that way? badkins55
Yes, the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) will have a rough finish on the black parts of the barrel. The white and red parts of the bat will have a smooth finish.
John
What bat would have a louder sound the Select 715 or the Prime 915? baseball11111
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) will have the louder "ping" sound because it has an alloy barrel. The Prime 915 will have more of a "thud" sound on contact since it has a composite barrel.
Kelby
My son is 5'5" and 110 lbs. Since he is a gap hitter, would the Select 715 or the Prime 915 be better for him? devcran
For a player of his size, we would recommend the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) in a 30" 27 oz. model. Unfortunately, both the Select 715 and the Prime 915 are offered in a 31" 28 oz model as the smallest size available. We would actually recommend the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) in a 30" 27 oz. model. The 515 does feature a one piece full alloy construction. Additionally, it offers a well-balanced swing weight, which is what we typically recommend for contact or gap hitters.
Joe
What is the difference between the 2014 Louisville slugger (Raid) and the Select 715? conda
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) replaced last year's Raid. The only differences (other than the name change) will be cosmetic.
Tessa
I am 5'6"-5'7" and 120 lbs. What size would you recommend? LBB
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 31" model in the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153).
Jason
Does the select 715 require break in time or is it at its peak performance straight from the wrapper? Ryan
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) is a hybrid design that features an alloy barrel so it will not need to be broken in.
Patrick
I want to know which bat is better the 2015 Louisville Slugger 715 BBCOR and the Easton MAKO BBCOR. My son is 5 foot 11 and 170 pounds. Sherri
Both the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) and the 2015 Easton MAKO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15MK) are both nice options. The difference would be in the style of the bat, which one would be better would be a matter of preference. The Select 715 is a hybrid design with an alloy barrel and composite handle. It has a slightly barrel heavy feel. The MAKO is more balanced and is all composite.
Patrick
How is the swing weight of this bat compared to the DeMarini Vexxum NVS 2015? Jason
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) replaced the Raid from last year, so it will feature more of an end loaded swing weight. End loaded bats are typically preferred by power hitters. The DeMarini Vexxum NVS will feature a balanced swing weight, typically preferred by contact hitters.
Tessa
For a power hitter, would this bat or the new DeMarini Voodoo be better? Dusty
Both the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR (BBS7153) and the 2015 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD FT BBCOR (DXVDC) will have similarly end loaded swing weights. Both models are great for power hitters.
John H
Is this bat good for power hitters? P21
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) features a two piece hybrid design with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. Additionally, it features a slightly end-loaded swing weight that will be ideal for a power hitter.
Joe
What are the differences between this and the Prime 915? Parker
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) features a three piece hybrid design with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. It also features a slightly end loaded swing weight. The 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBP9153) features a three piece full composite design with a balanced swing weight.
Joe
Which bat is more like a wood bat? Kade
BBCOR certified bats like the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) have a somewhat similar feel to wood bats but will have a bit better performance. There is not one BBCOR bat that would feel more like a wood bat than others.
Patrick
Which bat is better: The Select 715 or Prime 915? isaac
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) and the Prime 915 are equally good bats. It really depends on what type of hitter you are to determine which bat will give you the best performance. The Select 715 has a slightly end loaded swing weight and is typically a better option for a power hitter. The Prime 915 has a balanced swing weight and is usually better for a contact hitter.
Jason
Is this bat better that the 2015 Omaha? baseball__nerd
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBO5153) are both nice options. They are just different by design. The Omaha 515 is a single-piece balanced alloy bat. The Select 715 is a slightly end-loaded bat with a hybrid design that has a composite handle and an alloy barrel. The preference between the two would come down to what style you prefer.
Patrick
I've had the EXOGRID 3 for two years and the end cap just broke. Will that happen with this bat? How does it compare to the EXOGRID 3? Nick G
Given the nature of the game, it is tough to say if or when a bat may have an issue. In general, this 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) has been a very durable model. It would have more flex and a slightly more end-loaded swing weight when compared to the Louisville Slugger EXOGRID 3 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB13EX). The performance between the two would be comparable.
Patrick
My son is 13 year old is 5 foot 5 inches and weighs 120 pounds. What size would you recommend for him? Also, what is the difference between the Louisville Slugger Select 715 and the Louisville Slugger Vapor? Vic
Based on your sons height and weight I would recommend getting ta 32 inch bat. The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) is going to be a two piece hybrid design and it will have an end loaded swing weight designed for power hitters. The 2015 Louisville Slugger Vapor BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBVA153) is going to be a one piece alloy design with a balanced swing weight designed for contact hitters.
Frankie
I want to know which has more pop: the 915 or the 715? What is the difference between the bats? roscoe
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBP9153) will perform to a similar level. One would not have more "pop" than the other. The difference is the barrel material. The Select 715 is a hybrid design that has an alloy barrel and composite handle. The Prime 915 is a two-piece composite model that would have a composite barrel and handle.
Patrick
Which side is the best for the ball to make contact on? Is it the rougher sandpaper like black side, or just the metal smooth white side? Just where should the ball hit the bat for the best results? jakec
Any part of the sweet spot of the barrel on the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) should be fine for hitting and one side would not hit better than the other.
Patrick
What is the 31/32 Inch tapered Handle? What is it's purpose? Jose
That would just be the handle thickness. The handle thickness of the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) is fairly standard and would not be a big difference to focus on as a selling point.
Patrick
I am 5'10" 170 lbs, and I swing a 33"Louisville Slugger Exogrid 3 right now. What size do you recommend for this bat? Tyler
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 33" model in the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153).
Jason
Which bat is better: The Select 715 or the Attack? foxcates
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) and the Louisville Slugger Attack are equally good bats. It really depends on what type of hitter you are to determine which option is better for you. The Select 715 has a two-piece hybrid design and will feel slightly end loaded. Typically, the 715 is a better option for a power hitter. The Attack is a two-piece composite bat with a balanced swing weight. Typically, the Attack is a better option for a contact hitter.
Jason
I am a 14 year old and more of a contact hitter with decent power. I am 6 feet tall andn weigh 137 pounds. Do you recommend this model or the 915? What size? Ed
Either the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) or the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBP9153) could work for you. I would suggest a 32 inch size in either one. The Prime 915 will be more balanced for a lighter swing weight over all and will have composite material in the barrel as opposed to the Select 715 which is somewhat barrel heavy and has an alloy barrel.
Patrick
What is the difference between this, and the Easton S2Z ZCORE? Which one has a longer barrel? Which one feels more like the Easton XL series? Finally, which one is more for a power hitter? The Spadz
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) would have a slightly longer barrel and a more end-loaded feel like the Easton XL series and would be more geared toward a power hitter style player compared to the 2015 Easton S2Z ZCORE BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15S2Z).
Patrick
Does this bat have an end loaded feel? HighlyAwesome
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) is going to have an end loaded feel.
Frankie
What are the differences between this bat and the Prime 915? diamond
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBS7153 is a two piece half and half design so the handle is composite and the barrel is alloy. However, Louisville Slugger Prime 915 is a two piece full composite.

The only model of the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153) that we have left in stock is a used model. It says used from because that is where the price level starts.

I'm 6'2" and 190 lbs. I have used the 715 for a while and loved it, but it is starting to wear out. I don't want to have to drop $200 or $300 on a newer bat. As much as I want to stick with this bat, I am curious to see what else there is. Any suggestions or direction I should go when looking for a new bat? ashton
Based upon your height and weight, I think a 33" or 34" model of bat should function pretty well for you. If you wanted a model that had the same hybrid design (alloy barrel and composite handle) as this Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153), but did not feature as high of a price tag, I would recommend viewing the following bat: Marucci Black 2 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB20).

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
