What is the difference between the (PG3SL112) and the 2014 (PORSL112)? John
The 2015 COMBAT Portent G3: (PG3SL112) will have a different barrel design, and will also incorporate a newly updated grip using lizard skins. Otherwise, both models will incorporate the same one-piece composite design, and will also use similar technology including Precision Molding Technology. Overall, both models will be extremely similar, but will have slightly different cosmetic updates in the 2015 COMBAT Portent G3: (PG3SL112).

The G3 would be different from the CF6 in that it is a one-piece design while the CF6 is a two-piece. The CF6 will offer more flex.

Unfortunately, we couldn't predict the life of any bat. But this bat is backed by the 12 month warranty through COMBAT, as a safeguard.

Based on our resources, the 2015 COMBAT Portent G3 Senior League Baseball Bat w/ Lizard Skin Grip (PG3SL112) is not approved for Dixie Youth Baseball. Dixie Youth typically requires a 2 1/4" barrel diameter. But in the division that does allow the use of big barrel bats, you would not be allowed to use a composite barrel that was not a BBCOR certified bat. Concerning legality, I would always recommend checking with a coach or league director to confirm what barrel diameter is required.

The COMBAT Portent G3 has a one-piece design which will have a stiffer feel next to a two-piece design. One-piece bats are typically preferred by power hitters.

We would not recommend using the 2015 COMBAT Portent G3 Senior League Baseball Bat w/ Lizard Skin Grip (PG3SL112) or any other bat in temperatures below 55 degrees due to the density of the balls. Bats can't uphold the density of balls whenever they are so dense from the cold.

Yes, the bat coach would recommend that a player 2 inches taller than your player's current height should use a 28 inch size. Given the light weight of the 2015 COMBAT Portent G3 Senior League Baseball Bat w/ Lizard Skin Grip (PG3SL112), you can probably get away with purchasing a 28 inch design and having them grow into it.

The Portent G3 will feature a full composite design while the Vexxum will feature a hybrid design. Generally composite models will out perform alloy bats. I would recommend going with the Portent G3 in the 30" 18 oz. The light weight design of the Portent will help him with bat control and bat speed.
