Description

***If within 30 days of the purchase the consumer is not completely satisfied with the performance of their TRU3 Bat, they are able to return it to the retailer from which the purchase was made or directly to Louisville Slugger for a full refund of the documented retail price paid.*** It's time to step up and attack the diamond, because multi-piece composite bats just changed forever! Louisville Slugger proudly introduces their new Tru3 3-piece construction composite bat suitably named the Attack. This revolutionary new transition technology strengthens the link between the barrel and handle and gives it a dramatically reduced vibration on contact. Rather than thicken the walls of our bats, Louisville Slugger inserted a 1"wide graphite band which gives the bat one of the lowest swing weights in the game. Vibration from mishits are absorbed before they reach the player's hands, allowing players to be more consistent with their hitting. The Attack is constructed from Louisville Slugger's Pure 360 Composite that uses thinner, high-strength and lightweight graphite fibers to add more layers in the handle and transition for added strength, while reducing overall wall thickness. More pop, less weight: that's the formula for better performance AND durability. With a balanced swing weight and an easy to grip 31/32 inch handle, this bat will have hitters ATTACKING the strike zone like never before! Louisville Slugger: Be the Best, or Swing the Rest! The Attack features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp and is approved for play in and beyond. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Super GREAT Bat!!! BigDaddy1014 parent

Pros: This bat is hotter than "French Fry Grease" right out of the wrapper!!! Solid contact with NO vibration, even if you hit it near the end cap. We've been a Combat family for years, but Louisville Slugger just changed our minds. My 12 year old son hit a long stand up double with his first at bat in Middle School ball. He is only 12. Very impressed with the 30 day "Tyr it or return it" offer. Great graphics, great feel and very solid overall. My son LOVES it!!

Cons: It took me too long to purchase it!

The Bat To Own Anonymous parent

Pros: My son plays year round ball and because of every b-day or holiday he now owns a COMBAT Portent, Easton XL1 and this 2014 LS ATTACK. In comparison the Combat is a very good bat that has the largest sweet spot of the three. Down side is its barrel seems to have less of a trampling effect & less of a pop then the other two. The XL1 is a great bat that launches balls with its trampling effect..XL1 seems to be more top loaded then the other two. The XL1 is a top notch bat. As for this new Attack bat it seems more balanced in weight, which has the boy swinging the bat faster then the other two. The ball launches off this bat faster and farther then the other two bats. Pretty much the boy is killing it . Bottom line is I would highly recommend the 2014 Attack

Cons: Beware: The older 2013 Attack is prone to cracking, the newer model is designed differently.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger Attack Senior League Baseball Bat: SLAT14-R5? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I am thinking about this or the Combat Portent which one has more pop and what is the difference between them? van22
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack: SLAT14-R5 Senior League is a two-piece fully composite design and the 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL105 Senior League is a one-piece composite design. The COMBAT Portent has a stiffer feel because of the one-piece design.
Jason
Is it end loaded? Chris Latch
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack: SLAT14-R5 Senior League is a balanced model.
Justin R.
Is there a break in period for this bat? Is this more for a contact hitter rather than a power hitter. Jared
We recommend 150-200 swings playing soft toss or hitting off a tee to break in a composite bat like the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack: SLAT14-R5. The bat will be similar to the Easton S1 and DeMarini CF5 in regards to being balanced and still being able to hit for power.
Damon
I just received the SLAT14-R5 and noticed that when you tap the bat on the ground it has a different sound than any other bat we have used, ( Demarini, Easton, etc.). It almost sounds like something is loose. It does sound normal when hitting the ball. Is this normal or is the bat possibly defective? Jared
Occasionally a piece of the composite material will come loose and create a rattling sound. The rattling sound will not affect the performance of the bat. However, the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack: SLAT14-R5 Senior League would be covered under Louisville Sluggers one year warranty.
Kara
Is this bat or the new VELO more balanced? jake
Both the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack: SLAT14-R5 Senior League and the 2014 Rawlings VELO will feel incredibly balanced. The two-piece design of the Attack may feel slightly different than the one-piece feel of the VELO. Either would be a great choice for balance and performance.
Brandon
Is this bat legal Babe Ruth? Nik
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack: (SLAT14-R5) Senior League bat is not approved for Babe Ruth Baseball. Babe Ruth requires that all bats with 2 5/8" barrel diameters be BBCOR certified and have -3 length to weight ratios. If you're set on the Attack, you would have to choose the (BBAT14-RR) model.
Mac
How does the Attack -5 compare to the Easton XL1 -5? Are the barrels the same size? RS22
The 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) Senior League will have a longer barrel and be more end loaded than the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack (SLAT14-R5).
Damon
How much longer is the barrel on the Easton XL1 compared to the Louisville Slugger Attack? Baseball Mom
The 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) is approximately 1/2" longer than the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack (SLAT14-R5).
Kara
Is the Easton MAKO better for a power hitter or this one? REABBA
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack (SLAT14-R5) and the MAKO are both very high performing, balanced composite bats. For a power hitter, they will function essentially the same. If you wanted a power hitting specific bat, I would recommend the end loaded Easton XL1.
Justin R.
Does the Attack or the XL3 have more pop? And which one is end loaded? USA baseball
Both are great bats. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack (SLAT14-R5) Senior League is a two-piece composite bat and will be more balanced than the 2014 Easton XL3 (SL14X35) Senior League. The XL3 is a one-piece alloy model that is end loaded.
Damon
Is the 2014 (-5) Attack better than the (-5) VELO? Barron
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack (SLAT14-R5 Senior League) will be a two-piece fully composite design. The VELO will be a one-piece fully alloy bat. They are made of different materials. Both will have very lightweight designs and feel super balanced in swing weight. They are both great bats!
Brandon

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
