New Bat The Omirodder player

Pros: Good feel, like the swing. Waiting for it to break-in to really see the bat work. Just got the bat, but hope the bat lasts like other Easton bats.

Cons: Having to wait for the bat to break-in. $$$$ Hope it is worth the price.

Mako has pop, but XL1 has more Fortheloveofthegame coach

Pros: The Mako feels more end loaded like the XL1. It virtually feels just like the XL1 but 1 ounce lighter. When my son hit both the Mako and XL1 on the sweet spot, the XL1 flew farther. My recommendation is that if you are strong enough to swing the XL1, get the XL1. If you need your bat a little lighter get the Mako or XL2 or XL3 to save some dough. If you need more swing speed, stick to the S Series.

Cons: None. Great bat for the person that can't quite swing the XL1 but the S series is too light for.

Luv the eye candy!! T. Carson in Pa. player

Pros: I been using my 30" XL1 all summer. Got my 31" Mako two weeks ago. Really nice bat, I'm just not used of it yet. I think my XL1 drops a better bomb but time will tell. Nice bat speed, nice grip. I love my Mako.

Cons: None yet. Real eye catcher!!!

Hands down, the best bat ever made!! GM parent

Pros: The whole bat. My son turned 11 this year. Was swinging a voodoo and generated the highest bat speed on his team. He also had the least hit balls in distance. He purchased this bat with his own money, and at the second practice, literally hit a whole bucket of balls to the fence with one going over for his first homerun. This bat is definitely worth the money spent.

2014 Mako 31/20 D McD coach

Pros: My son plays U11 travel baseball and has had a lot of success using the 2013 XL1 in both 30/20 and 31/21. He also used the 30/17 Easton S3. I was concerned that the Mako would not have the POP of the XL1's but I was pleasantly surprised. The length to weigh ratio is perfect for him giving him a nice balance of speed and power through the zone. He is ecstatic with this bat! Great job as usual Easton!

Mr. Jim coach

Pros: Best pop on the market

Cons: Easton bats fall apart. Every kid on my travel team who has purchased either the XL-1 or the Mako has had to have it replaced. My son has gone through 4 Eastons this year alone. We don't use rubber balls in machines either. They design these bats to be on the edge so the pop is great, but they just aren't durable. If you buy one, you might as well buy two because you will need a bat for when the first one breaks and you have to send it back.

Perfect Bat for my 11 yr old. GO IN SC coach

Pros: Excellent right out of the gate. After we struggled last year with the S1or the XL as my son is on small side but hits with good pop and average. We settled on S1 and went for bat speed. Great bat but this Mako is the best of both worlds. In 1st tourney he bats 1.000 and is popping them off the fence as a small fella. Great job by Easton to make the best of two great bats in to one.

Cons: Little pricy but made my son save for half. REALLY worth it to him now.

Pros: Got for my 10 year old. He need to go up in size we went up to the 31/20 from a 29/17. Pretty big jump but he plays year round and didn't see much of a change in his bat speed. I believe this is the best bat on the market. Right out the box he hit it better than he has ever hit. Kid plays year round and has a great swing but something about the pop off this bat almost makes it unfair... Great Bat!!!!!

Pros: Great feel, good pop, great look.

Cons: Took a long time to break in, almost sent it back then my son start hitting shots. Good pop but my sons training partner got a cf6 the same day and we had both boys use both bats for almost a month and the cf6 performed much better. With all that said it's still far better than anything else so my money wasn't wasted but I wish I had an xl1 or cf6.

Pros: POP! this bat has a ton of it, the power brigade series made a major improvement by adding this bat. it's the most diverse bat on the market and almost any player can swing this bat effectively.

Big PoP Chico Hull coach

Pros: My son plays 11u Majors USSSA. He swings the XL1 29/19 and a S1 big barrel with a great deal of power and speed. Today at practice he asked to use one of the other players 29/18 Mako.....through 4 rounds of BP he hit 27 out on a 225 field. The balls he hit out didnt just barley clear the fence they were bombs. Needless to say we just ordered the 2014 30/19 Mako (went up in size from the one he swung at practice so he can maybe get a extra year out of it)

All we swing is Easton and they out done them self again. All the kids on his team want this bat and want to swing it at the plate every time.

Cons: Don't know how long it will last. Price is high but you pay for what you get. Nothing at this moment. Keeping it out of the hands of other lol.. to high to let anyone else swing it.

Nice Bat Joe coach

Pros: I replaced a 31/20 Nike Aero (outlawed for Babe Ruth in 2014, sadly) with the 31/20 Mako for my 12 y/o son. I had seen others using the Mako but was not impressed with the pop or speed off of the bat. Probably a "break-in" issue, but maybe not the right player for this bat. That aside, I brought him to the cage tonight for some soft toss and was really impressed. The balance of the bat is excellent. Some have said end weighted but I feel it is balanced top to bottom. The sound at this juncture with some 80 swings is flat unless perfect contact is made. The pop is scary good on really good swings. The general feel is nice, balanced. Son said no vibration at this point. Obviously can't speak of durability yet. I would not recommend this bat to younger or starting players. There are plenty of bats out there for them. This is a bat for physically strong, seasoned players who can take advantage of what seems to be this years top offering from Easton. Enjoy the spring season.

Loads of pop Buzz Minix parent

Pros: This bat seems to have no obvious flaws. Bought it for my 9 yr old, 4'8" 65lbs. who plays travel ball. He had been using the Easton S1 28-16 and moved to the 28-17 Mako. The ball absolutely flies off this bat. It's not even broken in yet. The confidence boost alone was worth the extra $$$. Easton makes THE best quality bat available.

Cons: A little harder to get the barrel out front than the S1 because of the extra ounce and the way it is balanced compared to the S1 so he uses the S1 against faster pitchers but other than that this bat ROCKS!

So Far, So Good BBDad1 parent

Pros: Feels lighter than -11, more like -12 or -13. Big sweet spot, more like a sweet zone. Good pop, just doesn't sound like a "pop" of an aluminum bat. Ball moves off the bat deceivingly fast.

Cons: Expensive and everyone wants to use it. Except for the CF6 user on the team that can swing an end loaded monster.

Awesome Bat Coach Bob coach

Pros: Great hits off the big sweet spot. Most of the team is now using it (size 28, the bigger kids would like a 30). My son really likes it and thought the XL1 swung too heavy. He loves this bat. The ball really jumps off the sweet spot. Their eyes really light up on sweet spot hits. You can tell it feels good, and you can see the results. You won't be disappointed.

Cons: Vibration is an issue as it is on all -11 or greater bats when the ball hits the end or near the handle. Could be the -10 XL1 is better in this regard.

Pros: I call this bat the TRUTH ! my 8 year kid hit a fly ball to deep center first at bat for a triple. 2nd at bat a shot down the 3rd base line for a double which drove in two runs. 3rd at bat a shot over the shortstops head for a single drove in another run. 4th at bat fly ball to left field for a out. He's spraying the ball all over the yard while some parents are in awe. LOL!

It's ok I guess Joe Cool coach

Pros: Purchased 2 of these this year. One for my 9 year old, one for my 11 year old. My 11 year old can't get much pop out of it. He hits way better with his old XL1. My younger son seems to hit well with his Mako. I'm hoping they are just slow to break in. Maybe it will improve. Right now it just seems ok. Good balance and good grip...no vibration.

Great overall bat Mama T parent

Pros: My 12 year old has been hitting further then he ever has with this bat. He absolutely loves it. It's definitely the hot bat this season. I see at least 3 on every team in little league majors. He also has the big barrel for travel ball and it's even better. I have not heard a bad thing except...

Cons: On my sons bat the orange paint started to shatter in the sweet spot and now there's a large crack in the paint. The bat still works fine but the umps won't let him use it. Looks like Easton will replace it but for the price paid, this shouldn't happen.

Sorry! this may not be the review your expecting!! Carlos parent

Pros: My son was really struggling with hitting and on top of that he needed a new "heavier" bat. So my son shows me the "justbats.com" page on the 2014 Easton MAKO. Of course being a parent I just looked at the price. My jaw dropped at the price but of course I gave in and bought him this bat. My son ate and slept with this bat just waiting impatiently to use it. Knowing that he will be swinging the "cream of the crop" in bats his confidence was through the roof. Well needless to say his hitting also went through the roof. Doubles. triples, etc..etc. Was it the bat? I'm going to have to say "technically" No. So... Was spending almost $300 on a bat worth it? His new confidence at the plate and eagerness to get an at bat says it was. I'm content with that. As a parent seeing my son excel it's worth every penny!!!

Cons: Everyone on the team wants to use this bat. lol

Boom!! Joe coach

Pros: Very Good bat but just make sure you break it in very good with at least 300 hard hit baseballs, preferably by an adult. My son(9yrs 9 months) hit his first practice HR estimated 210ft and then a week later whacked his first in a game(what a feeling!!). Also if your hitter hits hard I recommend getting at least 5ft behind the Little League mound for the pitchers safety.

Pros: My son got the 32/21 mako and he is very happy with it. His first at bat he roped a double in the gap. In his second at bat he hit a triple down the first base line, and he hit a 2 run homer over the center field fence. I would really recommend this bat because the xl1 is a little to heavy for me and the s1 is way to light??

Pros: Nothing beats this beast. I don't know how Easton managed to make a bat with soooo much pop. I used to have an XL1 from 2013. The Mako may be lighter but the distance is 5x greater. I recommend this bat to kids where the S1 is a bit light for them, but where the XL1 is a bit heavy for them.

Pros: This bat has a good deal of pop. The sting is reduced due to the CXN piece in the middle. I've hit 6 home runs on the season so far and this season was the first season that I've ever hit one over the fence.

Pros: Awesome bat. Took it to the ball fields to break it in for my 7 year old and all I can say is wow, I was using a tea at the fence and then decided to hit the towards the just to see what it would possible do for a kid so I put my elbows in my ribs and just swung with my hips, boom over the 170 foot fence, twisted a little slower the next hit and grounded one in the dirt, once again to the fence, slowed down a little more on the third and once again, to the fence, got out the bat he is using now (XL3 28/17) and swung it about the same speed, middle of the outfield was as far as I could hit swing with just my hips. Now right now he is just a touch small to swing it with a lot of speed, there is a woosh sound but not a big one when he swings it, but I did get him a size bigger (29/18) I was look into the fall or even next season, but I wanted him swing it and getting strong so he can hit bombs with it when he is ready.

Cons: none, I don't know how anything can get better, I wish I could give it 6 stars.

Love this bat ALB parent

Pros: Great POP off the bat. Bought his bat for my son for all-stars as a reward for his hard work this season. He is a good contact hitter and batted nearly .600 for the season, but hits single and doubles only. During BP with his team he nearly took the head off our 3rd baseman 3-4 times with frozen ropes. He hasn't completely broken it in yet, but in an all-star jamboree this weekend, he hit by far his longest line-drives of the year (and he didn't hit them completely flush). A stand-up double and a long single that was cutoff by the center fielder. Led team with RBIs batting in the 7-hole on a 12 man roster. After those two hard line-drives, when he came up the next time, you could see the opposing coach moving his defense back a few steps and I heard him say, "Big hitter, remember he hit a double last time up." He was a good hitter already and now this bat has boosted his confidence that not only can he play well at the all-star level, but can be a team leader!

Cons: Non-yet. Haven't had the bat a week yet, so can't speak to its durability. However, I have never had any problems with Easton bats in the past.

POOR QUALITY for $279.00 Roger Short coach

Pros: Great pop. Bat has good balance and feel with minimal vibration if the sweet spot is missed.

Cons: In my Little League team of 12 year olds we had six players with this bat. Within a three month time frame 5 have cracked. The warranty (1yr.is a joke) states Easton will only replace one bat within that year. Really poor quality when it will not stand up to regular season play. Worth the money!!! Ronny Baseball parent

Pros: This is my son's second season of summer coach pitch. Last year I bought him a $60 Easton Reflex Bat which I thought was expensive. At his first practice this season using his Reflex Bat he made perfect contact and the ball flew over the infield and dropped in front of the left out fielder. It was his greatest hit, but it occurred to me that his bat must have a tiny sweet spot, because that was a nice swing and perfect hit and the ball barely made it over the infield. I decided to buy him a better bat, but my only reservation was price. I thought the Mako was a whole lot of money for a bat. But I trusted the reviews and made the commitment. Last night, my son hit an inside the park home run. It wasn't his best swing but it was good contact and that ball flew over the the left out fielder. It was a great experience and I will never forget the smile on his face when he scored. It was awesome and I know the Mako made this happen. The smile on my son's face was well worth the price

Cons: Bat seems a little heavy, but with more use, I'm sure he'll grow into it.

Great Bat But........... Your Help player

Pros: This bat has great pop. Needs about 150-200 swings to start really going. I own a 31/20 mako. I am 12 years old and 95 pounds. This bat is great at first but after about 700 swings its not that great.

Cons: My mako started getting dead after 500-700 swings. We have 3 makos on our team. All 3 of them have cracked/end cap fly off. We have had 1 end cap fly off. 3 cracked ones. And 1 dead one. We have got them all replaced thanks to Easton. But these shouldn't break every 4 weeks. Not Durable. Would recommend CF6. We have one that already has 1200+ swings and I can still hit it out with it. And it shows no sign of cracked, end cap flying off, or denting.

Pros: This is flat-out an amazing bat I play 9-11 I'm only 9 but I have had 4 homers over the 225 fence in 4 games with this bat. Last with the Easton omen and it was 10 times worse than this one.

Pros: It feel's good in your hands... nothing else!

Cons: mine broke right down at the handle after 5 months of heavy use..... it's 300$ it shouldn't break forever! and the pop wasn't special either, 2012 CF5 is much better than this.

Alright Mike player

Pros: Tons of pop easy to grip

Cons: I am on an allstar team and we started our season with 5 makos and we have one left all the caps came of of the bats and they all cracked. I can not swing the mako because it is to heavy for me so I went to the s2 and have been getting on base a lot it's not a power hitter bat but I am a contact hitter so it works great for me.

Pros: I haven't even broken in my mako yet but the pop is unbelievable I am singles doubles hitter so I got this bat and it is perfect for my type of hitter when I took it out to my local field, where I can sometimes hit about 1-3 homers, I hit ten in one round! including a shot that almost cleared the big wall behind the fence if you want to be on top of your game there is no other way than mako

Easton Mako Raock Kaden #7 player

Pros: I play on a 10u team and the mako has so much pop it's the best bat I have ever used if you hit it on the handle it still will go far and it doesn't even sting it has a huge sweet spot and the mako is like a trampoline the ball flies off the bat and goes far the grip feels so good and win you hit it it doesn't feel like you hit it the one that I use is composite I just listen for the pop it sounds like a wooden bat and it is really light and all the weight is in the barrel I would recommend it to anyone worth the price BEST BAT EVER!!!!!!!YOU ROCK EASTON!!!!! Not Impressed Michael parent

Pros: The price at Just Bats was great.

Cons: My son is a solid hitter, can usually hit home runs in practice all day long. He's 5'5 120 pounds. He had a great Easten Red Omen that finally broke in a game. We researched a replacement bat , considered the Mako , but reviews all highly recommended the XL1. So I bought the XL1 and as soon as it arrived we dashed off to the LL Major League field. I pitched at least fifty balls to him, and no matter how hard he hit the balls, they all feel far short of his usual range. He hit only one home run, and evetrything else was mediocre . I was shocked, because I really thought this bat was going to be a step up from the Omen. The sound is not solid either, in fact it sounds cheap. I am absolutely not impressed with the POP in this bat. It seems FLAT .

Mako bat tmags parent

Pros: A very long barrel. Seems to have a balance feel to it.

Cons: The weight is not what is advertised. Much to my surprise when I weighed the bat The 28/17 is 19.5 ounces. Now certainly, the nice diamond grip is not 2.5 ounces. There is no way that you can have an -11 drop with that massive barrel length. So if you are concerned with your child's bat speed and think he needs a lighter bat this may not be the bat you want.

Pros: amazing bat, hit 10 homeruns with it this year in LL on 225+ fences, and they werent just pop ups over, they were bombs off the bat. great pop, perfect for a contact and power hitter, good bat speed and perfect weight. definitely would reccomend this bat. also its really end loaded

Cons: too pricey, broke mid-season not good for durability, takes a while to break it in, hit my last homerun on the LL field 2 weeks after i got it, about 15 games and lots of bp, shouldnt have to break it in

Best bat my son has ever had Chris parent

Pros: This bat has so much pop on my sons fifth hit he sailed one over the fence 270 feet. Now he's had this bat for a year and hit more than a dozen home runs and it still has all the pop it started with. This bat is good for any power though my son is ''5 6'' and 135 pounds of pure muscle but his brother who is almost the same height but not built and has alot more speed easily hits it over short every time with a ''31''. the other uses a ''32''. Overall this is the best bat my sons have ever used especially because it hasn't broke my bigger son has broke two bats from hitting them by the composite spot. If you want a quality bat that anyone can hit dingers with this is your bat

Easton nice job Awesome kid player

Pros: I played baseball this spring. I used to use a Louis slugger TPX 29" 17oz. The coaches stepson used to have a 2014 Easton Mako. He hit a grand slam with that bat. Soon we went to the 1st round of the playoffs. I didn't use my bat but I used the mako. I hit a double to deep left field. We lost by 1 run 9-8 but we had way more hits than the other team. How is the MAKO different/better than the XL1 specifically? I am ready to purchase a new bat for my son(currently uses the Omen 30" 18 oz. and it is too light for him. He is a line drive/power hitter. Thanks. Bryan
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is a combination fo the Easton XL1 and the Easton S1. It is a balanced bat that has an extended barrel. It uses newer composite material for a bigger sweet spot.
Kara
How will this compare to the S1 and the XL1? It"s my understanding the S1 is better for a contact hitter and a XL1 belter for a power hitter. What is the MAKO better suited for? drtyjrzy
The Easton MAKO is going to be a blend of both the S1 and the XL1. The MAKO will be a very balanced model like the S1 and still have the massive sweet spot of the XL1. The MAKO can be used for both a contact hitter and a power hitter because of way it is constructed.
John
Does this have a bigger barrel than the XL1? john
The barrel of the ***PREBOOK*** 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth and the Easton XL1 are going to be the same size.
Noah
I hit 10 home runs with my Easton S1. Will this have more pop? baseball
The beiggest benefit of the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is that it will have the same balanced swing weight as the 2013 Easton S1: YB13S1 Youth, but with a larger sweet spot like the XL1 features. They are able to increase this sweet spot without compromising the balance due to the new TCT Thermo Composite.
Katie
My son is moving up to kid pitch would it be better to swing a big barrel or the mako he swings xl 3 big barrel now. amac
If you son is swinging an XL3 with a 2 5/8" barrel diameter, the MAKO Youth's swing weight, actual weight, and barrel diameter will provide a very different feel. The MAKO is a very balanced bat designed for increased bat speed, and the XL3 is a slightly end loaded bat that is designed for a power hitter. It's hard to estimate differences in the performance he will see, as the bats are so different from one another.
Mac
Bottom line, will this bat hit it harder/further than any of the S Series, or XL Series bats? Over the last 2 years, my son still has the XL1, XL2 and XL3. Z-Bo
It's all in how the player uses the bat. The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth carries the same BPF 1.15 performance certification as the other S and XL Series models. Any difference in performance will be attributed to the player's preference for balanced or end loaded bats.
Mac
How will this bat compare to the DeMarini CF5? Both are drop 11 and it looks like the MAKO is also balanced and they are both full composites. Is it barrel length? And if so, what would the difference be for a a 30 inch model? pupini
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth has an extended barrel like the Easton XL1.
Kara
Is the MAKO true to weight? Other Eastons like the XL1 and S1 are actually heavier than printed on the bat. Sometimes 1 to 3 oz heavier. TD
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is true to weight.
Kara
Is this bat going to be Little League approved? AA
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is Little League approved.

Noah

Kara
Is this MAKO replacing the S1 Easton series, or will there be a new S1 coming out soon? If so, when? MstrBlake
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is not replacing the Easton S1 series. It is a combination of the Easton S1 and Easton XL1. It has a balanced swing weight with an extended barrel. The new Easton S1 is scheduled to be released on September 1st.
Kara
Is there an end loaded version of the Mako, like my son's XL1? T
This 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is the only Youth model of MAKO that will be produced. There will not be an end loaded version, as the TCT Composite makes the bat very balanced.
Mac
According to an Easton Video Website (shown here: http://www.easton.com/powerbrigade/), there will be a -13 on this bat. Can you confirm before I order the -11? Ron
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth does not come in a -13 model, aside from the tee ball model, the 2014 Easton Mako: TB14MK Tee Ball. Two other Power Brigade Youth models come in a -13, the 2014 Easton S3: YB14S3 Youth and the 2014 Easton S2: YB14S2 Youth.

What is the recommended size for my son in both the the 2 1/4" and 2 3/4" MAKO? He's 4'4" 58 pounds. Johnny
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 28" in both the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth and the 2014 Easton MAKO: SL14MKB Senior League.
Kara
I'm still a little confused about the MAKO vs the XL3. My son has a power swing and hits the ball great with the XL3. Should we stay with the XL3 or will the balanced swing of the MAKO make-up for the end loaded power XL3? braves75
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat would be ideal for a contact hitter that wants to throw more barrel at the ball and make more contact. If he is having success with the XL3, stick with it!
Brandon
What is the recommended size for my son in both the the 2 1/4" and 2 3/4" MAKO? He's 4'10" and 96 pounds. Should he be using a 20oz or 18oz? Myra
For his height and weight our charts are suggesting a 30" for both the youth model and senior league. Check out our bat coach for all your sizing questions. http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
John
I'm looking for a 2 5/8 bat! Will the MAKO come in that diameter? Kevin
No, Easton will only produce the MAKO in a 2 3/4" barrel for senior league.
John
Is the MAKO going come in drop 5? Big Pete
No, the Easton MAKO is not manufactured in a minus 5 length to weight ratio.
Aubrey
Should I buy my son an XL1 or a MAKO? Which has more pop, and which will help him generate more power? Jason
Both models will have the same performance certifications on them, so it really depends on the swing weight that he uses more efficiently. The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth gives the player a larger sweet spot but is much more balanced than the XL1. The more balanced the bat is, the faster it can be swung; this is typically what helps contact hitters generate more power. If your son already has high swing speeds and hits for power, the slightly end loaded swing weight of the XL1 would be the better choice.
Mac
What is the difference between the "Prebook" Mako and the regular Mako bats? A lot of your answers specifically refer to a "Prebook" version of the bat. tlg
Prebook just indicates that we are taking orders to reserve the right to the 2014 MAKO when they are released on 8/30/2013.
John
I'm 5'1" and 92 lbs. at 12. What size bat do you recommend to me? Jay
Based on your height and weight, we recommend 31" model in the ***PREBOOK*** 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat. For further information on sizing, please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Aubrey
When does the MAKO come out do you make it in 2 5/8? G-7
At this time Easton has not said if they will release a 2 5/8" senior league model.
John
Is 29" 18 oz. the only size this bat comes in? Brandon
We are currently sold out of the other sizes for the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth. This model will be available in 28", 30", 31", and 32" models once we receive them.
Marcus
Why is the warranty on the 2014 MAKO reduced to 12 months, whereas it's still 400 days on the 2014 XL1? What does that imply? Is the MAKO more fragile than the XL1? R
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth and the 2014 Easton XL1: YB14X1 Youth have a 12 month warranty. We have corrected our website.
Kara
Does it come in a different color, and why is it only a year warranty? Seppie
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat is only manufactured in the color scheme as pictured. A 12 month warranty is generally an industry standard.
Aubrey
I am interested in 2 bats for my son, the MAKO and CF5. What is the difference in performance of the two bats? My son is a line drive hitter. Mark K
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth and the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth are designed for a contact hitter. They both are high performing, balanced bats. The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth features an extended barrel.
Kara
My son just turned 12, is 5'3", & about 105 pounds. He has been the cleanup hitter for several years now. Has great bat speed and hits with power. I like the concept of the MAKO as I love bat speed with power. He has been swinging the old Easton Stealth full composite with 30" 17 oz. (-13) ratio. Is this an ideal bat to move to and what length/weight would you recommend? J-Dog
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is similar to the Easton Stealth. It is a two-piece fully composite, balanced bat. It also features and extended barrel for a bigger sweet spot. Based on his height and weight we recommend a 31" 20 oz.
Kara
My son is 5'1, 85 lbs, 10 years old and currently uses an Easton S1 - 2 1/4" -13 bat. Would you suggest the MAKO 31" 20 oz., a good upgrade option for him? KAB0601
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is a a high performing bat. It is very balanced like the Easton S1, but also has an extended barrel for a bigger sweet spot.
Kara

The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is one of the most popular bats out right and it would be a great choice for you.
Noah
I am 4'9" and 90 pounds and looking for a well balanced 31 inch bat with pop. I used to have a DeMarini CF5 big barrel and I don't like it because it is end loaded. What bat should I get? sirfalcon
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is a very balanced two-piece composite bat. The new TCT Thermo Composite provides outstanding performance and durability.
Kara
I'm 5 ft 104 lbs what size should I use? Saltydalty

The Easton MAKO is a drop -11.
John
I've been looking for the 2014 Senior League Mako, but cannot find it through your website. When will the Senior League version be released, or is it on backorder? Alex
2014 Easton MAKO: SL14MKB Senior League was released in a 2 3/4" barrel on 9/1. We're currently out of stock, but should be getting some more back in stock soon.
Katie
My son is turning 9 in march, 56 lbs, 4' 5". He is a lead off contact hitter for fall ball and tries out for Little League in spring. He hits an older Easton Quantum 29" 17 oz. well. Do I go with the Easton S1 29" 17 oz. or MAKO 28" or 29"? Al
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 29" 18 bat. The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth would be a great option for a contact hitter. It features an extended barrel and balanced swing weight.
Kara
My son is 11. He is the number four hitter. He is 5'6" and 140 pounds. What bat do you recommend? taytay
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is best for a contact hitter who needs to increase their bat speed. A stronger, power hitter would be better using the 2014 Easton XL1: YB14X1 Youth.
Kara
In general, what do you recommend for a 6 yr. old, who's 4' 4", that weighs 65 lbs.? He has good contact and decent power for his age. Coach
At 6 years old, most players benefit the most from using a balanced model like the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth for increased swing speed and bat control. As far as the length goes, based on his height and weight, we recommend a 28" model.
Mac
My son is 9 years old, 4'5" tall and weighs 85 lbs. What size bat would you recommend. He is the clean up hitter has good bat speed and strength. Currently he uses an Easton S2 29" 16 oz. I was thinking of moving him into a 29" 18 oz. Easton Mako or 29" 19 oz. XL1. He has, on occasions, used a Marucci 30" 19 oz. and hit well. I think that might be to big at this time and wanted to get an opinion on proper size for him. E
A 29" bat length would be the recommended size for him in the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat. The balanced swing weight and extended barrel would be awesome for a clean up guy.
Brandon
What do you recommend for a 12 year old power hitter who has great speed? Power hitting jose
For an power hitter, the 2014 Easton XL1 youth may be the best option available to you.
Justin R.
I am 13 years old and it's my first year of Juniors. I like the look of the Easton Mako, but I don't know if it's right for me. I'm a 5' 2'' and a power hitter. Tommy
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is one of the best bats currently on the market. This would be a great choice for a power hitter.
Noah
Does the Easton Mako need to be broken in and if so what is the best way to do it. I want to get the youth size 28. chris
Yes, the Easton Mako does require a break-in period. You should watch our video in the link provided to see how to do a perfect break-in. http://www.justbats.com/videos/video/baseball-training--how-to-break-in-a-composite-bat/83/
Noah
My son is 9 years old and he is currently hitting an S1, it is 30" drop 13. Should I get him a 28" or 29" MAKO? Don D
The correct size for the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is best determined by the players height and weight. Check out our bat coach for correct sizing; http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Kara
If you're a good power and solid contact hitter what's a better bat? The Easton Mako or the 2014 XL1? Steefence
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat would be a great choice for the balance and extended barrel it provides. The Easton XL1 would be better for true power guys who love the end loaded feel.
Brandon
Is this too heavy for a kid who has been using a DeMarini Voodoo? mako man
The DeMarini Voodoo is end loaded and the Easton Mako is balanced, so it will not be too heavy.
Noah
My son is 5'2" and 90 lbs. His bat is a 31" 21 oz. COMbat. What bat would be better for him the MAKO or the XL1. He has a true swing and really fast hands. Mark
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is a balanced bat and is designed for a hitter with quick bat speed. The 2014 Easton XL1: YB14X1 Youth is slightly end loaded, and is best suited for a power hitter, with quick bat speed.
Kara
Can't find the Senior League Mako on your website. When do you expect to have those available? Alex
The following is a link to the Easton MAKO senior league bat on the website http://www.justbats.com/product/2014-easton-mako--sl14mkb-senior-league/18463/
Aubrey
When will the 31 inch Mako be back in stock? colin
It takes about 2 to 4 weeks to get inventory back in stock. Once available, it will be listed on the website.
Tori
Can this dent in cold weather? Mike
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat features a composite barrel therefore we recommend not using it below 55 degrees.
Aubrey
How much is 18 oz in drop? GiantGiantFan
This version of the 2014 Easton Mako is only available in a -11. A drop measures the difference between the length and weight of the bat.
Tori
I'm 11,135 pounds, and a power hitter. Would the Mako be a better choice than the XL1? ilovebaseball125
The Easton XL1 would be a better choice for a power hitter because it is endloaded, whereas the Easton Mako is going to have a light swing weight.
Tori
When will they come out with a new Easton XL2? bp
Unfortunately, there are no plans for a 2014 Easton XL2 to be released.
Jason
Do they have the 2014 Easton maco in a 2/34 inch barrel? Sammydaydawg
We have the 2014 Easton MAKO: SL14MKB Senior League in a -10 and a 2 3/4 inch barrel.
Jason
Which bat will have better results the Easton Mako or the DeMarini CF6. Thanks Deb
Both the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth and the 2014 DeMarini CF6: DXCFL Youth are going to be very comparable bats. The MAKO will have a slightly bigger sweet spot, and the CF6 will have the D-Fusion handle to eliminate vibration and extend the sweet spot through the entire barrel.
Jason
Will the price of this bat go down around Christmas time, or will it go up? miggy
The price on the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat will stay at its current price until Easton gives permission to lower it. That probably won't happen until sometime in the middle of 2014.
Brandon
im 5'2 and 90 pounds what size should i use aidan_baseball
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 30" model in the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth.
Jason
I'm 5'3" and I weigh 120 lbs. What size bat should I use? I am going into high school next year, will I be able to use it then or can I only use BBCOR bats next year? Arod23@heritageHS
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 31" model. You will be required to have a BBCOR certified bat for high school.
Jason
What is the best procedure to break in the MAKO bat? scott
The best way to break in a two-piece fully composite bat like 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is taking 150-200 swings playing soft toss or off a tee using real baseballs. Begin swinging at 40% power and work our way up to full strength as you get closer to 200 swings. It"s also important to rotate the bat ¼' after each swing to ensure that you get complete barrel coverage.
Jason
My son has the 2011/2012 Easton XL1 in a 30/20 that he has been swinging for 2 years. He consistently drives the ball to the fence. Now, he is 10, 5'3'', and 153lbs. Should I stay in the XL series 31/21 or try the MAKO 31/20? bfacekapsi
The Easton XL series is end loaded and we normally recommend it for power hitters. If he is having success with that bat it may be best to stick with it. The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is going to have a lighter swing weight than the XL series and would be better suited for a contact hitter.
Tori
Is this bat end loaded or does it have a balanced swing weight? Jahey
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth has a balanced swing weight.
Jason
My son is 5' 96 lbs. What size MAKO should I get him? He currently swings a 30" 20 oz Omen the best bat ever. benny the jet
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 30" model of the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth.
Jason
Will the Easton Mako or the DeMarini CF6 help me hit for more line drives and deeper hits? Deb
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth will be lighter weight than the DeMarini CF6. The low M.O.I will allow for increased swing speeds.
Tori
I am deciding between the MAKO or the S1. I am hearing the MAKO is end loaded. Which one has the lightest swing weight? Is this bat as balanced as the S1? Jay
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth does have an extended barrel that usually gives the bat an end loaded swing weight. However, the MAKO is the most balanced bat in the 2014 Easton product line. The new TCT Composite material allows the bat to be more balanced than even the S1.
Mac
My son is almost 8 years old. He is using an Easton Convert YBCT 28/16. He has a fast swing and great contact, but very little power. He used another players 26/14 Mako big barrel in a tournament over the weekend and hit it farther than ever. I don't want a big barrel with only the spring season of coach pitch left. Would the this bat be a good fit for him? Rod
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth would be a good fit for an 8 year old. It is going to have a light swing weight which will allow for an increased swing speed.
Tori
How do we know what drop this bat is? N
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is a -11.
Tori
My son just turned 11. He is 56 inches tall and weighs 80 lbs. Would you suggest the XL1 29/19 or MAKO 30/19? He has always used a -10 bat, but when we went to look at the 30/20 XL1 he said it felt to heavy. He wants to hit a home run period. thankyoulink
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth seems like it would be the better fit for your son. It will have a light swing weight and allow for increased swing speeds. The XL1 will feel slightly end loaded and if he said it felt to heavy it would be best to use a balanced bat like the MAKO.
Tori
My son is 11, 5'6'', and 180 lbs. He is very strong and big. Last year he swung a S1 30/20. He says it is very light. He does not have a fast swing, but it is powerful. I want to get him a Mako 31/19 or 32/20. Which would you suggest. I'm afraid the 32 would be too big, but like I said he is very strong. Big Lom
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth in a 32''. However, because he is used to swinging a 30'' it may be better to get a 31''. Moving up to a 32'' may be too much of a jump in size.
Tori
My son just turned 11. He is 5'1'' and about 118 lbs. He was swinging a Miken 31/19 in the spring and fall. What size MAKO do you recommend? Tricia
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth in a 31'' or possibly moving up to a 32''. For more information on sizing please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Tori
When does the 2015 XL1 come out? jay
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat is currently available. The 2015 Easton XL1 should typically be out around November 2014.
Brandon
My son wants a bat for Christmas and I want to know if the MAKO is more suitable for him than the 2014 XL1? He is 57" 82 lbs and swings anything from a -10 to -12. tyler
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth has a balanced swing weight and is better for contact hitters with slight power. The 2014 Easton XL1: YB14X1 Youth has an end loaded swing weight and is preferred by power hitters.
Jason
My 12 year old son is 4'11" and 94 lbs. He has been using a 30" Easton for 2 years. Next spring is his final LL season so this year's bat will be his last youth bat. I want to buy him the Mako for Christmas, should he move to the 31"? Mark
Based on his height and weight, the suggested size is a 30" 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth. If you think he can handle the extra weight a 31" will work as well.
Jason
At what age and how old is someone able to use this bat up to? Is this for coach pitch and kid pitch? Sharon
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is designed for higher velocity kid and machine pitch, and is designed to fit a wide range of players, from players 7-8 years old, all the way up to high school.
Katie
My son is 7 years old and a power hitter. He is 4'6" and he weights 70 lbs. I would like to get him either a MAKO or an XL1. What bat size would you recommend? Jaime
At your boy's size we would recommend a bat size of 29" and 17 oz. or 29" and 18 oz. in the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth.
Brandon
My son is 10. He has a 29/17 now. Not sure if I should go with a -10 or -11 for next spring? bob
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat will feature the -11 size. A -10 size would also work for a boy at his age.
Brandon
My son is 10 years old (feb birthday) and is 115 lbs and 5' 4". He has asked Santa for the Easton MAKO 31" 20 oz, what would be your recommendation? Thanks Elves... Gmoney
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 31" 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth.
Jason
Our son is 11 years old, 4' 8" and around 70 lbs. He is not a power hitter, but he consistently makes good contact. He would like to hit the ball farther. We are torn between the MAKO (which he really wants) and the S1. We are also unsure what size to go with, 30 in 19 oz, or the 29 in 18 oz? Steve
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 29" model. The 2014 Easton S1: YB14S1 Youth is typically preferred by contact hitters because of its two-piece design balanced swing weight. The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is ideal for contact hitters with some power because of its balanced swing weight and extended barrel.
Jason
My son is 11 years old, 48", and 85 lbs. What bat size would you recommend? jesse
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth in 28''. For more information on sizing please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Tori
Do you have the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth in a 2 5/8'' barrel? Baseball Guy
The 2014 MAKO will be available in the 2 5/8'' barrel in January.
Tori
Does it have more pop than the XL1? Jimmy
The "pop" on the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth and the XL1 are going to be comparable because they have to meet the same qualifications. The XL1 has a slightly longer barrel than the MAKO. The MAKO will be more balanced and lighter weight.
Tori
Which has the lighter swing weight, 28" 16 oz. COMBAT Pure Gear -12 or 28" 17 oz. Easton MAKO -11? kw
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth has a slightly lighter swing weight than the COMBAT Pure Gear.
Kara
I am 4' 5'' and 70 pounds. What size should I get? Little guy
Based on you height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth in a 29''.
Tori
My son needs a -3 baseball bat for his league. The -3 bats that I see are adult, not youth. Do they make a -3 for youth? ss
All -3 bats are considered Adult bats. Therefore, you will not find a -3 Youth bat. The -3 version of the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is the 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR: BB14MK Adult. Adult bats are designed for high school aged players and up.
Marcus
What size bat should I get for my almost 13 year old? He is 110 lbs and is 5'4". Will
Based on his height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2014 Easton MAKO in a 31''. For more information on sizing please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/.
Tori
My son is 11 years old, 5' 8" and 180lbs. He need to 2 1/4" barrel, but he uses a 33" now. Is there a 33" MAKO? Dave S.
The largest size available in the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is a 32".
Justin R.
My son is 5' 7" about 70 pounds. He is a contact hitter with decent bat speed, but doesn't get much power. Which bat would give him more power and pop off the bat the S1 or the MAKO? I was thinking of a 30" bat length. He is using a 29" 17 oz right now. dm
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 31" 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth. The Easton S1 and the Easton MAKO will perform similarly, but the MAKO has an extended barrel and a bigger sweet spot.
Jason
My son is 6 foot and weighs 300 pounds. What bat should I get for him? He is a power hitter. Big joe
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is a youth bat and will be too light for a player his size. We recommend an adult BBCOR bat such as the Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB11X3 Adult.
Kara
My son is 53 inches tall and 77 pounds. He wants a MAKO or S1. Not sure what size to get him, 29" 30 oz.? michael
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 29" 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth.
Kara
My son plays travel baseball and just turned 9. He is 52" tall and weighs 59 pounds. He has a bat swing speed of 58 MPH (measured using his 28"-13 Easton Reflex) so he's got a quick bat and hits for high average. Would a jump to the 29" -11 MAKO be too much of a jump? MLI Dad
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 28" 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth. A 29" model will work as well if you think he can handle the extra weight.
Jason
I can hit for power and for average. Should I get this or 2014 Easton XL1: YB14X1? kai
The 2014 Easton XL1: YB14X1 is more end loaded for a power hitter, whereas the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK is more balanced for a contact hitter but will have the extended barrel like the XL1 to extend the sweet spot.
Damon
When was the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth released into stores? bandrews
The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth bat (YB14MK) was released in July.
Garrett
My son plays travel baseball and is 9 and and a half years old. He is 55" and 85 lbs. What size MAKO would you suggest? He has a little trouble with end loaded bats . Greg
Based on your son's height and weight, we would suggest getting the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) in a 29''. For more information on sizing please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/.
Tori
If I'm deciding between the Mako 29/18 and the S1 29/17 and my son's priority is bat speed, which one should he buy? Will he notice a difference? Markus
Both the Easton MAKO and the Easton S1 youth models are very balanced in swing weight. The MAKO is going to have a -11 drop while the S1 will have a -12 drop. The S1 will be the lighter of the two models giving him the best bat speed.
John
I'm 12 and play in the Pony Baseball Bronco division. Can I use the Senior MAKO? ball player
The Pony Baseball Bronco division allows 2 1/4" - 2 5/8" barrels, so you would be able to use the 2014 Easton MAKO (SL14MK9 Senior League) because it has a 2 5/8" barrel. However, you would not be able to use the 2014 Easton MAKO (SL14MKB Senior League) because it has a 2 3/4" barrel.
Damon
I am 4' 10.5" tall and weigh 118-120 lbs. I am 11 years old. What size bat should I buy? luke
A 30" bat length is recommended for a hitter at your height and weight. The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat could be a great choice depending on what your league allows for play. The Senior League big barrel option could be a great choice as well.
Brandon
My son is 10 years old and is 4'5" and 65 pounds. He plays second year Mustang ball. What length MAKO bat should he get? I'm thinking a 29" 18 oz would work but I am wondering if the 30" 19 oz. would be okay as I would like him to use it in the Bronco division. He currently uses a COMBAT B2 30" 18 oz. Thanks for your help. Peter
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 29" 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth. However, if he is comfortable with the 30" COMBAT, he could move to the MAKO since it is a balanced bat.
Kara
Until what age is recommended to use this bat? What pitching speed was tested? gonza
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is typically used by players up to age 12. For detailed information regarding the testing of the bats and pitching speed check out this link; http://www.mme.wsu.edu/~ssl/glossary/bat%20test.html
Kara
Does the MAKO lose its pop over time? JR
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is made of top of the line composite materials. It will be very durable. The MAKO should last approximately 1-2 seasons with proper care.
Kara
My son is 9 years old, 4'5" and 65 lbs. He plays on a travel team and a rec team, so we end up purchasing a new bat each season. Last Spring he did very well with the 2013 S1 28/16. He is a contact hitter more than a power hitter, but in the Fall his coach recommended he use a 28/18 XL1, but we noticed his bat speed dropped and he seemed to struggle. Now we are trying to decide between the Makko or replacing the S1 for this Spring. What would you suggest? LB
Both the Easton MAKO and the Easton S1 youth models are very balanced in swing weight. The MAKO is going to have a -11 drop while the S1 will have a -12 drop. The S1 will be the lighter of the two models giving him the best bat speed. Ultimately, the choice depends on what kind of hitting style the player would like to return to--the quicker bat speed of the S1 or the extended barrel design (similar to the XL1) of the MAKO.
Tessa L.
My daughter is 5'3" and weighs 167 lbs. She plays fastpitch softball. She's a power hitter and I was wondering how this bat could really benefit her when it comes to hitting? softballmoms
Instead of the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth, she would need the 2014 MAKO Fastpitch model. It will allow her to keep her bat speed up because of its very lightweight and balanced swing feel. Also, it will have a longer barrel length to give it a larger sweet spot.
Brandon
My son is not a power hitter but makes good contact. Should I get him the MAKO or the XL1? zay
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat would be a better fit for him. It will feel more balanced and not as end loaded as the 2014 Easton XL1.
Brandon
My son is not a power hitter but makes good contact. Should I get him the MAKO or S1? zay
The 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14MK) Youth and 2014 S1 Youth are both very balanced two-piece composite designs that would be great options for a contact hitter. The MAKO is the highest quality bat in the Easton product line and offers a lighter swing weight and larger sweet spot than the S1. If the S1 is at a better price point for you, it's still a high quality option.
Mac
MAKO vs S1? My son has the S1 that he used last season but wants to buy the MAKO this year. What are the biggest differences? Doy82
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) features new TCT Thermo composite materials. It allows the MAKO to have an extended barrel that is balanced.
Kara
My son is 55" and 93 lbs. He currently swings a Marucci 28/18 -10. He plays USSSA 11u travel ball and is a contact/line drive hitter and wants to go to a longer barrel bat, without compromising bat speed and possible pick up a little more pop to drive it through the gaps. Which MAKO do you recommend? PFK
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) would be fantastic option to go with. It features a balanced swing weight along with an extended barrel design, making it the best of both worlds for contact and power hitting in mind.
Tessa L.
My son is 5 foot tall and weighs about 100 lbs. Right now he is swinging last years S1 and has the 31 inch. He has a lot of power, mostly to the opposite gap. A friend, who is a hitting coach, recommended that he swing a lighter bat. What size MAKO bat would be best for him? Deez
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 30" model in the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth.
Jason
My son is 5'8" and weighs 147 pounds at the age of 12. What bat should I get him? Bravester99
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 32" model in the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth.
Jason

My son is 9 years old, 4'10", and weighs 76 lbs. He currently uses a 28" 15 oz. DeMarini Voodoo 3. Would he be better off with a 29" 18 oz. or a 30" 19 oz? Coach Craig
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 30" 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK).
Tessa L.
Would my daughter be able to use this for her 8U softball league, select ball and tournaments? monsta409
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is a youth baseball bat. It is not legal in softball leagues. The 2014 Easton MAKO (FP14MK) is legal in 8U softbal leagues and tournaments.
Kara
My son is 12 years old, 5'1" 120 lbs., moderate bat speed. Looking for correct sizing of this bat. Thanks. Tbone
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 31" 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK).
Kara
My daughter is swinging the FS1 31" 21 oz. She is 5'1", 112 lbs. She is only 11. She has great bat speed and has learned to finish. I notice a lot of softball girls do not use that drop. What size should I go in regards to the MAKO? She will play last year of rec then travel ball in the fall. hairball
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) is youth baseball bat. If she is comfortable with a 31" 21 oz. we recommend the same size in fastpitch version, the 2014 Easton MAKO (FP14MK ).
Kara
I'm 5'4" and weigh 100. I'm ten. What size and is this the best bat available? I'm in Little League. In your opinion what is the best bat out there? wheelz
Based on your height and weight we recommend a 31" 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK). The MAKO is a very high performing bat. It uses top of the line composite materials that provide great pop and durability.
Kara

My son is 11 years old and he weighs 80 lbs. He has decent bat speed. What size bat should he swing? jfree
Given his age, I would recommend going with the 30" 19 oz. model of the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK).
Marcus
My son is 10, 4'10", and weighs 75 lbs. He has pretty quick hands. Would this be a good bat for him? COACHJT
Given the fact that it has a well-balanced swing weight, the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) would be a great bat for him. I would recommend going with the 30" 19 oz. model.
Marcus
My son is 10, 56" tall, and around 70 pounds. He has a slow swing and dips his back shoulder. We are working on a quicker more level swing. MAKO or XL1? Hornfan
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK ) is best for a player with a slower swing. It is a very balanced bat that would benefit a player with slower bat speed. The Easton XL1 is an end loaded bat and is best for a power hitter, with quick bat speed.
Kara
I'm 5'3" and 105 pounds. What size do I need? caleb
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 31" 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK).
Tessa L.
I'm 4'10" and 86 pounds what size would you recommend? I currently use a 31 in 19 oz 2013 Easton S1? Jmb54
Based off of your measurements, we would recommend around a 30 inch 19 oz for the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth. However, if you like the 31 inch 19 oz in the S1, staying at that size would also work well for you in the Mako.
Merritt
Do you have a 2 5/8 in this bat? Todd
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth does not come in a 2 5/8. You can get the 2014 Easton MAKO (SL14MK9) Senior League in a 2 5/8 barrel -9.
Aaron
My son is 11 yrs old 87 pounds and 58" tall. he has a 30" 2014 Voodoo. I want to get him an Easton Bat. Which would you recommend? Nick S.
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth is a great bat and is our hottest seller right now.
Aaron
What's the difference between the drop 11 MAKO and drop 10 in barrel size? Also is the drop 10 composite and is it a big barrel? bball34
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) (drop 11) is a 2 1/4" barrel. The 2014 Easton MAKO (SL14MKB) (drop 10) is a 2 3/4" barrel. Both bats are two-piece composite bats.
Kara
My son is 5'9" and 148 pounds. Should I get him the XL1 or the MAKO? HH
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth along Easton XL1 is a very high performing youth bat. The XL1 is very good as well. Typically, if you are a power hitter, I would suggest the Easton XL1. If you are more of a contact hitter, I would go with the MAKO.
Justin R.
Is this bat BBCOR certified? sfgiants123456789
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is a youth bat and does not have a BBCOR certification. This bat is certified for Little League play and comes with the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp. BBCOR is a certification for high school and college. If you need one of these models, you will need to look in the adult bat section.
Justin R.
Is this bat approved for Babe Ruth League? Ctyfyrudutr
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is not approved for Babe Ruth. All composite barrel bats must be BBCOR certified.
Kara
Why does this bat say it's approved for Babe Ruth Baseball if it isn't? Jhfxhfic
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) features a -11 length/weight ratio as well as a 2 1/4" barrel diameter. As long as the length of the bat does not exceed 33" it is legal in Babe Ruth.
Gary T.
Is this bat approved for Babe Ruth Baseball? I have asked multiple questions and some say it isn't, and some say it is legal? baberuthplayer55
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) youth bat is approved for Babe Ruth baseball. If you are worried about your specific league's restrictions, it would be best to contact your coach or league office to double check.
Patrick
Is this Bat approved for play in Cal Ripken league? Mike
Yes, the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is legal for play in the Cal Ripken League.
Tessa L.
Is the MAKO Little League approved? Paddyc
Yes, the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth is approved for play in Little League. It will come with the Little League approved stamp, as well as the USSSA BPF 1.15 stamp.
Justin R.
Is the make very similar to the S1? Trying to decide between the two bats. My son is more of a contact hitter FDj
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth is a mix between the XL seires and the Speed series. The MAKO does however have a lower M.O.I and has a very fast swing speed.
Aaron
Do you recommend this bat for kid pitch or just coach pitch? joe
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth would be a great choice for kid pitch.
Aaron
My son is in little league and he needs a bat. He is 4 foot 9 and weighs 130 pounds. He is a power and contact hitter. Which bat would you prefer the DeMarini CF5 or the Easton MAKO? Jill Graham
Both the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) and the 2013 DeMarini CF5 (DXCFL) would be nice options for your son. Both models are going to be the two piece fully composite design and will be similar in balance and feel while swinging the bat. The MAKO features new connection improvements that are designed to help reduce sting and vibration. As far as performance and durability go, both bats are going to be top of the line.
Patrick
Does the MAKO chip paint when you hit with it? Brady Graham
No, the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat should not chip after initial use. Down the road, however, all bats could lose their perfect graphics due to wear and tear.
Brandon
Does the MAKO require a break-in period? jtd
We suggest that composite bats be broken in with 150-200 swings in the cage during soft toss and tee work. This would still be in effect for the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth.
Aaron
Does this bat come in a -10? Our 8U team has to use a -10. If not what bat do you recommend? Bradley
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) comes with a 2 1/4" barrel diameter. The MAKO does have a -10 model available, but it comes with a 2 3/4" barrel diameter. If you need a 2 1/4" barrel diameter and a -10, I would recommend the Easton XL1 youth bat.
Justin R.
My son is 11yrs old and is small for his age. he weighs 60lbs will a 29inch/180z bat be to big? He uses a 28in 16 oz bat now . I always believed lighter is better? Thanks for your input. jack
With the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth the lighter you go the faster his swing will be. I think that 29 inch bat would be perfect.
Jackson
My grandson is 7, 56" tall and weighs 108 lbs. He is a power hitter and plays for Dixie League. Are these bats approved for Dixie? What bat would you suggest for helping the ball to travel further? Thank you! Payton'sMiMi
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth is approved for play in Dixie League because it features the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp. The MAKO and the Easton XL1 are excellent bat options for a player looking to increase their power.
Jason
After purchasing the MAKO 30/19 for my son, I noticed that it's not recommended for temps under 55 degrees. Will this damage the bat, reduce the pop it has, or reduce its life expectancy if its used in colder weather? Robb
Yes, the colder weather and temperatures can lessen the performance of the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth). The colder weather can make the baseball more dense and heavy which can damage the barrel internally and sometimes externally.
Brandon
How big is the sweet spot on the Mako? jillgraham
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth model features a massive sweet spot that runs almost the entire length of the barrel with Easton's TCT Thermo Composite Technology.
Patrick
I have a 30/19 Easton Mako and was wondering what would be a comparable bat that could be used as a cage bat? J-Yo
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth bat is a top of the line, two-piece fully composite design. Finding a bat with that design at a lower price point is difficult to achieve because it is an expensive process to manufacture two-piece composite bats and that cost is reflected in the price. Many bats with that design are going to be similar in price.
Patrick
My son has a Demarini Vexxum that is a couple of years old. It is 29 in, 18 oz. Does the 29 in, 18 oz Mako have a bigger sweet spot or lighter swing weight than this Vexxum? Can you provide any info on the difference in performance between the two bats? BC
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) are both very balanced bats. They are both high performing. The MAKO has a slightly longer barrel for a bigger sweet spot.
Kara
My son is 7 years old, 4'3" and 50 lbs. He currently uses an 28" 17 oz Easton Titan. What are the biggest advantages I would see from the MAKO verses his existing bat? Joe B
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) would be a better bat in almost every regard. The MAKO will feature a larger sweet spot, higher quality materials, and a more balanced swing. The two-piece design will also help reduce vibration, and add more of a whipping action to the swing.
Justin R.
Our 12U league requires a BPF-ABI stamp on our bats. I see the BPF on the MAKO but not the ABI. What is ABI and does the MAKO offer this stamp? cr
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth does feature the new BPF 1.15 performance mark, but it does not carry any kind of ABI stamp. I would check with a league director, but no composite bat should require an ABI stamp. The ABI test stands for Accelerated Break-In. This test ensures that once composite bats are used and broken in fully, they will not surpass the BPF 1.15 rating. Little League Baseball provides a list of all certified bats for their divisions, and they also list that the bats must be BPF and ABI certified. You will find the MAKO on that list, so it should not require any kind of ABI stamp/mark: http://goo.gl/bbWkNP
Mac
Does the little orange rubber cap on the end of the MAKO do anything? Because it popped off on my second swing! Baseball Player
The rubber piece on the end of the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth model does not serve a functional purpose that will affect the performance of the bat.
Patrick
My son is 56 inches and weighs 70 pounds. He is turning 8 next month. What size do you recommend? Steve
Based on the player's height and weight, we would suggest the 29 inch 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth bat.
Patrick
What is the difference between TCT Thermal Composite and CNT Advanced Composite? deb0523
the new TCT Thermo Composite in the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth will help with bat speed and enlarge the sweet spot.
Damon
Which one do you prefer the CF6 or the MAKO? Knuck
I would go with the 2014 Easton Mako (YB14MK). It is one of the more hotter two-piece composite bats we have right now on the market. The CF6 (DXCFL) is a very comparable bat to the Mako (YB14MK). I would go with the Mako (YB14MK) because it offers a very balanced design.
Zach
Can I use this for Babe Ruth baseball? Is it approved? Some answers say it is and on another it's not. baberuthplayer801
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth is approved for use in the Cal Ripken (ages 6-12 years old division). However, in the 13-15 year old and 16-18 year old divisions, all composite barrel bats must be BBCOR certified. That model of the Mako would be the BB14MK.
Patrick
I am wondering which is better, the CF6 or the MAKO? Marinersman
Wow, that is a tough decision. Both bats are some of the best available. The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) will feature Easton's newest composite, a slightly larger sweet spot, and one of the most balanced swing weights available. The DeMarini CF6 (DXCFL Youth) will feature the new Paradox composite, a balanced swing weight, and the D-Fusion handle which eliminates vibration during contact. Both the MAKO and the CF6 would be excellent choices.
Justin R.
Does this bat require a break-in? marinersman
Yes, the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth will still require a little bit of break-in. We recommend about 100-150 swings rotating the barrel with this bat.
Aaron
I got my MAKO today and started to hit outside. After about 20 hits, I noticed a small chip in the paint on the barrel. Is this normal? alps
If the chip is only in the paint, it's likely not an issue that will qualify for warranty replacement as it should not affect the performance of the bat. But composite bats do tend to develop surface cracks or their paint can chip. Due to the nature of the composite fibers, as the bat is used they are stretched out which provides increased trampoline effect. But that stretching effect is the cause of many of the cosmetic cracking issues. If you'd like to give us a call at 866-321-2287, we can better assist you with the issue.
Mac
Living here in the northern climates where it still feels like winter. At what temperature is the MAKO ok to take outside without concern for damage to the barrel? Mojo23
We do not recommend using the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) in temperatures below 55 degrees or store the bat in temperatures under 55 degrees. Using this bat everyday under this temperature the bat will likely crack from the inside out and hurt the performance of the bat.
Kyle
What would you say the max age is for a person to use this bat? camster
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth, and other Youth Baseball bats with 2 1/4" barrels, can typically be used until players reach 12 or 13 years old. But it can vary between leagues.
Mac
My son is 4'3" and weighs 60 lbs. He's swinging a 28", -13, S2. Would the extra ounces make this bat feel heavy or does the fact that it's a better bat make up the difference? I'm just curious how much of an upgrade this would be for him. Thank you. Gunz
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) will be 2 oz. heavier compared to your -13 S2. Even though the MAKO will have a balanced feel and longer barrel length the extra 2 oz. will be felt by your hitter. The two-piece fully composite design would be an upgrade compared to the S2's alloy barrel material.
Brandon
Big barrel? Jack
No, the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) will have the small 2 1/4" barrel diameter. These two models will feature big barrels: 2014 Easton MAKO: SL14MKB Senior League & 2014 Easton MAKO: SL14MK9 Senior League.
Brandon
What is the break-in process on this bat? Should I use the S1, XL3, or MAKO? James T
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) has one of the most balanced swings, an extended sweet spot, and some of the highest grade composite available. The MAKO truly is one of the best bats on the market. Along with most other composites, we recommend a break-in of 150-200 swings off of a tee or with soft toss.
Justin R.
My son is 5'1" and weighs 103 pounds. What size should he get? Vincent K.
For his height and weight we would recommend a 31" in the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK).
John
Which bat has a bigger barrel for youth: the MAKO or XL1? Big Lou
The 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1) has a slightly longer barrel than the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK). The MAKO is balanced and the XL1 is end loaded. The XL1 would be better for a power hitter. The MAKO is best for a contact hitter.
Kara
My son is 5'1" and is 103 pounds and I want his bat to last for a long time. What size should I get him? Vincent K.
Based on his approximate height and weight, the suggested size we would recommend would be 31 inches in the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK). However, I would probably suggest moving up to a 32 inch, that way he will be able to use the bat a little bit longer.
Merritt
Which bat for youth has more pop? The 2014 Easton XL1 or the Easton MAKO? Big Lou
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) and the 2014 XL1 will have similar performance and pop. The major difference is that the MAKO will have a more balanced swing feel compared to the XL1. It will feel lighter. The XL1 will have a slight barrel heaviness to the swing weight that power hitters typically love.
Brandon
Whats better for a power hitter: the 2014 MAKO or XL1? karate Gee
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth has a balanced swing weight which is typically preferred by contact hitters. The Easton XL1 has a slight end loaded swing weight and is better for power hitters.
Jason
Trying to decide between the Louisville Slugger Attack and the MAKO. My son is 10 not a power hitter, but made with the right bat could become more like one. The price has me leaning to the Attack but I am willing to pay more. Is the $80 more make the MAKO that much better than the Attack? scrapmeat
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) and the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack (YBAT14-R5) are both very high performing composite bats. The advantage to the MAKO is it is an extended barrel for a slightly larger sweet spot.
Kara
My son is 10 and is 4'10" and weighs about 80 lbs. He currently swings the Easton 2013 S2 in a 30". I want to upgrade to the MAKO. Given his weight and height do you think getting the MAKO in a 30" will be fine for him? chris
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 30" 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK).
Kara
My son is 4"10" and weighs about 115 lbs. What size bat would you recommend? He is a power hitter, bats 4th in the lineup and currently swings a 28"/18oz Marucci. Liz
For someone the size of your son, we would recommend a 30" bat. You could go up or down 1" in length depending on things like how far he likes to stand from the plate and personal feel however. Weight of the bat is difficult to recommend as that is more a personal preference and depends on the strength of the player. The YB14MK model comes in a -11, so a 30" bat would weight 19oz.
Kyle J.
My boy is 9 years old. He is a solid, right handed, pull hitter. He has been using the Easton XL2 since last spring. It was a 28" 17 ounce bat. He loved it! Still does. But he is getting a little too far ahead of the pitch now. He is not a big kid, but he is an athletic kid. He is 50" tall and 72 lbs. My question would be is the 29" 18 ounce Mako too big for him? Matt
I don't think increasing his bat size would create too much of a difference in generating good bat speed. Kids are growing each year, and it is important to increase the bat size accordingly. Even if a 29/18 does not fit him perfectly now, he will be able to grow into it. However, if he was using the XL2 previously and handled the end loaded feel well, increasing the size of 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) will not be a problem at all. This bat is extremely balanced and will feel pretty light. I think moving up to the 29/18 would be a good choice to go with.
Merritt
Does the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) bat have a 2 5/8" barrel? slofargin
No, the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) features a 2 1/4" barrel diameter. The MAKO that has a 2 5/8" barrel diameter would be the 2014 Easton MAKO (SL14MK9). You can find it here: http://goo.gl/xlrXyR
Tessa L.
My son is 9 and 51" tall and around 50lbs. He is very small for his age. He grew into his 28" S1 in the fall. I would like to get him a Mako this season, should I buy him the 28" or the 29"? scott7772
Based on the information you provided I would recommend a 28" 17 oz. in the Easton MAKO (YB14MK).
Zach
My son is 8 years old and 77 lbs can he go from a 28" to a 30 " bat? dakota sky
Based on his age, the suggested size we would recommend would be 29 inches. If he was using a 28 inch before and was having no problems, I don't think bumping up to a 30 inch would be too detrimental to his swing speed. Ultimately, it will come down to whether or not he feels comfortable. However, I don't think it will be too drastic of a weight difference.
Merritt
My son is 10 years old and is 58 inches tall. What size should he get? He is a big guy. Wendy
The best way to determine the correct bat size for a player is by their height and weight. However, based on his height, we suggest a 30" model in the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth. For more sizing information please visit our Bat Coach http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Jason
My son is 9 years old. He weighs 62 pounds and is 46 inches tall. He plays kid pitch. What size bat do you recommend? Which bat would help him achieve a faster swing speed? He has a hard time getting the bat around. warner
Based on your sons height and weight, we would suggest a 27 or 28 inch bat. The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is a great option for helping generate bat speed.
Patrick
My son is 10 years old, 4' 9" and 70 pounds. He is a lead off hitter and although skinny and small, he is strong. Should he get a 30" Mako, 29" XL or 30" XL? He just faced a fast pitcher using a 30/17 and hit it up the middle. I like the idea of the Mako weighing an oz less and providing the same power, but I've seen multiple reviews where people say that the XL provides more power. Chris
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) would be the bat we suggest. The length that we recommend would be 30 inches. The 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1) will be for more of a power hitter. This bat will be more end loaded. Where as the Mako will be more of a balanced bat.
Kyle
I was thinking about getting the next version, if there is one coming out. When and how much is it going to be? big nick
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) bat is currently the only version released. There may be a new version for 2015, we just don't have that information as of yet. It will most likely be around the $279.99 price point for the Youth bat.
Brandon
My son is 8 years old. He is approximately 53" tall and weighs 69 lbs. Is the MAKO 29" 18 oz to big? joe
Based on his height and weight, the 29" 18 oz 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth is the suggested size for him.
Jason
My son is 56 lbs & 53", so basically a tall skinny contact hitter. He could use a larger sweet spot and more power. Which bat do you recommend? baseballkim
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is a great option for a contact hitter. The balanced, two-piece composite design is ideal for a contact hitter. It has an extended barrel for a larger sweet spot.
Kara
I hit with a 30 inch Easton XL3 last year and struck out 3 times in 23 games. I hit line drives but had trouble getting it through the zone. Which bat should I get? cam
It sounds like the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) would be a great choice for you. It will have a large sweet spot like the XL3 but its balanced swing weight will allow you to be quick through the zone.
Bobby
I have a Louisville Slugger Attack and its light and I can swing it fast. But I think I have enough power to swing a 31" Easton MAKO. Which bat do you prefer? I'm a contact hitter who likes to hit the gaps. cam
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) would be a great choice for you. It has a very light swing weight and a huge sweet spot. This will help you hit those gaps.
Bobby
My son is 10 and is swinging the Easton S1 in the 30" 18oz. Would you recommend this bat in a 30" 19oz? Big J
Yes, the 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth in that size should be a good fit for your son. With it's very well balanced swing weight the adjustment to a bat that weighs 1oz heavier would be minimal.
Kyle J.
What is the difference between the MAKO and the XL1 besides $40.00 and an ounce? On one of the reviews a person said his MAKO shattered on an inside pitch. Is that possible? What kind of warranty does it come with? alohamon
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) and the 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1) are both two-piece composite bats with extended barrels. The difference is the MAKO is balanced and the XL1 is end loaded. The MAKO comes with a 12 month warranty.
Kara
My son is 52 inches tall and weighs 89lbs. From your chart it says i should get a 29 inch bat, would it hurt to get him the 30 inch so he has a little room to grow into the bat? Rob
No, it would not hurt to get your son the 30" 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK). It would give your son some room to grow into the bat.
Jackson
Which bat is better for my son, the Mako or XL1? He is 12 years old and about 5'4". He is a good contact hitter, consistent, and although I would not consider him a power hitter, he can hit for distance. Would you recommend the end loaded Xl1 or the balanced Mako? Are there any other bats I am not asking about? alohamon
For a player of this nature, I would recommend the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK). The MAKO is perfect for hitters who hit for both power and contact. It feels extremely balanced but possesses unheralded pop.
Gary T.
My son is 11 years old, 5 feet tall and weighs about 105 pounds. He is a contact hitter with line drive power, but has thin wrists. What size and make would be best? jacblue
For a player this size we would typically recommend a 29" or 30" bat. With that being said, I would also look for a balanced model in a -10 length/weight ratio.
Gary T.
My son (11, 4'11", 72 lbs) has been playing with an Easton SL13S210 (30" -10) and loves it. He needs a 2.25" barrel for league ball. Will the XL1 (30/20) or the Mako (30/19) feel most like his big barrel S2? plecky
The 2014 Easton MAKO: YB14MK Youth bat will feel most like his S2 since the MAKO has a balanced swing weight similar to the S2. The XL1 has a slightly end loaded swing weight to it.
Kyle J.
I am 14, 5' 5", and 130 pounds. What size should I use, and can I use this bat in high school? noah
This 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth model is NOT approved for high school baseball. To be legal in high school, you will need a -3 BBCOR certified model like the 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR (BB14MK). Based on your height and weight, we would recommend a 31" model.
Mac
I'm more of a power hitter. Would the new XL1 or MAKO be better for me? Tyler
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) features a balanced swing weight which would give you a low M.O.I or fast swing speed through the strike zone. Where as the 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1) has an end load which will generate more power through the strike zone. It really comes down to your personal preference. If you're looking for increased bat speed go with the Easton MAKO (YB14MK). If you are looking for power go with Easton XL1 (YB14X1).
Zach
About how many hits does this bat have until it loses it's pop? mike baseball
There is no way to determine how many individual hits a bat will be able to achieve in its lifespan given the countless different ways and situations in which it can be used. There are ways to try and prolong the lifespan of the bat. It is recommended to use the bat only to hit real baseballs. The yellow dimpled balls used in some batting cages can damage the bat and shorten the lifespan. If available, it is also advantageous to use the bat only for game situations and to have a similarly weighted bat for batting practice. Also, not allowing other players to use the bat would help it last longer. Lastly, it is not recommended to use the bat in weather below 55 degrees. Below this point, the core of the ball can condense and become harder which can damage the bat.
Patrick
My son is a 52 lbs., 8 years old and plays machine pitch baseball. He currently uses a 28" 16 oz. bat which he just got used to the size and weight. Now we need a big barrel. I want to know if we should get the MAKO Junior bat or go with the MAKO youth version? spunkynouk
The 2014 Easton MAKO (JBB14MK) is designed for coach pitch only. The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) can be used in machine pitch.
Kara
My son currently uses the Voodoo 2014 bat size 30" 17 oz. He wants the MAKO. I was thinking 29" 18 oz would be the best size for him. Do you agree? He just turned 9, is 4' 5" and weights 90 lbs. Ranger
Based on his height and weight, we suggest moving up to a 30" model in the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth.
Jason
Is the amsko a contact bat? My son has power and hits home runs. Should I get the MAKO, or if not, what else? #number1
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth can be used by both contact and power hitters. If your power hitter does not prefer an end loaded design, the high performance balanced design with massive sweet spot that the Mako features will work just fine for what they need. If they do prefer an end-loaded design I would suggest checking out the 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1). It will be the most similar to the Mako in terms of design but will feature an end-loaded swing weight.
Patrick
I know this bat is a new bat and just cleared by the Little League Association for play. I am afraid to buy a $300 bat and the bat gets banded from Little League when I need it during tournament? Can you guarantee that LL will not band this bat? It is new and they may find a flaw and claim it does not pass their criteria after extended tests? please dont think I am crazy, I got the money for the bat, it is not cheap, I need to know my team can use it all the way through All-Stars. Last year our opponents all had composite bats they killed us with half a swing. We could have won the entire tournament. I want some composite action too. alohamon
To our knowledge this bat the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is approved for Little League because it has the stamp on the bat. They will not band this bat for any reason throughout the year.
Kyle
If I get this bat in the 31 inch size will I be able to use this bat next year and still have a lot of pop? cam
The sizing of the bat would vary based on the size of the player so we could not speculate as to how long that size would be appropriate. As far as durability, the Mako is a very durable model and does have a 12 month warranty for replacement if it is damaged.
Patrick
How long does this bat take to be broken in? I already hit about 70-80 baseballs with it. cam
As you know with all composite barrel bats we recommend a break-in. A good break-in consists of 150-200 hits off a tee or soft toss, start at about 40% power and gradually increasing as you get closer to 150 swing mark. Rotate the bat a quarter of an inch between each hit to ensure an even break-in. You'll feel the pop once the bat is broken-in.
Zach
Son is 12 years old , 4' 9" and 79 lbs. Currently, he has the S2 30" 17 oz. He is a contact hitter with little power. Will the additional 2 oz. hamper or help him? Can't seem to control big barrels, so 2 1/4" is better fit. He needs the biggest sweet spot they have. kv
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) sounds like it would be the best bat for you. The MAKO will have a full composite design, a larger sweet spot, and a more balanced swing. At his age, I would highly recommend going up the extra couple ounces.
Justin R.
My son is 8 years old, 4'4" , 117 lbs. What would be the best size for him? He is currently using an Easton Stealth sc900 carbon handle/alloy barrel 29"/16 oz. freddie
I would recommend a 29" bat. The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) would give him a large sweet spot to work with and would be a great fit.
Bobby
What is the difference between the Junior Big Barrel MAKO and the Youth MAKO? ray
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) will have a 2 1/4" barrel and be designed for player pitch. The 2014 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel (JBB14MK) will have a 2 3/4" barrel and is designed specifically for coach pitch play.
Kelby
My son is 9 yrs old 5'1" and 140 lbs. He has tremendous hitting power. He has hit the ball over the fence a few times this spring. He has a DeMarini 31" 19 oz. I was just wondering which bat would be best for him the MAKO or the XL1, and what size and weight? antman750
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is a balanced bat and is best suited for a contact hitter. The 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1) is an end loaded bat and best designed for a power hitter. Based on his height and weight we recommend a 31" 21 oz.
Kara
My son is 4'5" and weighs 53 lbs. What kind of bat should I give him? unknown
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is a great option for him. It is a very balanced, two-piece bat that is very high performing. Based on is height and weight we recommend a 29" bat.
Kara
I'm a contact hitter 4'9" and 85 lbs. What would be a better bat for me the Easton MAKO or the DeMarini CF6? Bubby
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) and the 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFL) are both well balanced, two-piece composite bats. Both bats are designed for a contact hitter. They are very high performing and durable. The MAKO will have a slightly longer barrel. The CF6 features new paradox material and d-fusion technology to eliminate vibration.
Kara
How do I get a ball mark off of the bat? iman
In order to remove dirt, oils and ball marks off of the 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14MK) all you will need is a simple cotton cloth, and soap mixed with water. Use a bleach-free dish soap and water mixture to avoid scratching the surface. Composite manufacturers emphasize that you only use soap and water when cleaning composite materials. Apply extra muscle when scrubbing to the parts of the bat that are still dirty. Use a clean towel to remove the moisture when you are done. This should help remove the ball marks off of the barrel of the 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14MK).
Merritt
How good is the pop? sam
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) has great pop. One of the hottest bats of the year.
Kyle
My son is 52 inches tall and weighs 60 pounds . He is about to turn 10 in a week. Is the mako 30 inch to big for him? Bball dad
We suggest using a 29 inch bat, however a 30 inch would not be to big for him to use. The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) would be a great bat for him.
Kyle
My son will be going into the Junior division in Fall is this bat legal for that division he will be league age 13 Tina
This bat would not be legal for the Junior Division. This bat has a composite barrel so composite barrel bats require the BBCOR stamp. This can vary from area to area, its always best to verify with a league official or coach.
Zach
I'm a power hitter and a contact hitter. If I step into it I can hit the fence. I've been trying to get the ball to go farther when I put my power into it. I feel that I need a new and better bat. So will a youth MAKO give me enough power and enough pop to hit the ball farther? slicker bballer2
Yes, the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) bat will only help increase your performance at the plate. The extended barrel length and balanced swing weight will help you hit more liners and help put more distance on your deep hits.
Brandon
I am 4' 11" and I weigh about 85 lbs. What length and and weight should I get for the MAKO? slicker bballer2
The best recommended size in the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) for you would be the 30" 19 oz.
Brandon
I am 12 years old, 5'11" and 155 lbs. What size and weight bat should I use? Kip
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 32" 21 oz model in the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth.
Jason
I'm a 12 yr. old 75 pound boy, I am 4 ft. 8 in. What size bat should I get? brody
Based on the information you gave I recommend a 30" length in the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK).
Zach
I need to get a bat for my son. He is 5'6'' and 125 lbs. I'm looking at the MAKO, what size and weight do you think he should use? lyle
Based on his approximate height and weight, the suggested size we would recommend in the 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14MK) would be a 32/21.
Merritt
My son is 11 and swinging a 30" 20 oz. XL1 bat now, would a 31" 20 oz. MAKO bat be too big for him? Or should we buy the 30" 19 oz.? He's 5', 85 lbs. c
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 30" 19 oz. 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK).
Kara
My son is 5'3" and 140 lbs. What size MAKO would you suggest? He is swinging a 30/19 now, and is always ahead of the pitch. tk
Based on his approximate height and weight, the suggested size that we would recommend would be a 31/20 in the 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14M).
Merritt
My son is 49 inches tall and 40 lbs. and turns 8 in June! What size bat he should he use? trey
Based on the information you gave our Bat Coach would recommend a 27". In the Easton Mako (YB14MK) I would suggest a 28" 17 oz.
Zach
What is difference between this bat and JB14MK? rob
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) bat will feature a barrel size of 2 1/4" and be approved for Little League use. The JB14MK will have the larger 2 3/4" barrel size and be used as a coach pitch bat.
Brandon
What bat is better: the CF6 or the MAKO? abc baller
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) and the 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFL) are both very high performing composite bats. The MAKO will have a slightly longer barrel. The CF6 uses new d-fusion technology to reduce vibration.
Kara
My son is 4' 9" and 82 lbs. He currently uses the 2013 Easton S2 29" 16 oz. He hits well, but I would like to find a bat with more pop. What bat would you recommend he use? Jake
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) bat would definitely add some pop and durability compared to his current Easton S2 model. The MAKO will feature a longer barrel and enhanced sweet spot. The balance will also feel lighter as well.
Brandon
I am 4"11" and 80 lbs. What size should get? I used the Easton XL3 last year and I had trouble getting through the zone. cam
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) would be a great option. The MAKO is extremely balanced and will help increase your bat speed. Based on your height and weight, I would recommend a 30" model.
Justin R.
I am 11-1/2 years old and play on an AAU team. I have pretty strong upper body strength. would you recommend the mako or the XL1 E
Both would be good bats for you. If you prefer a lighter feel I would go with the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK). The XL1 will provide a heavier feel.
Bobby
What bat should I pick: the MAKO or the CF6? billy
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth and the CF6 are both very comparable bats. They are both two-piece composite designs with balanced swing weights. Usually, it is suggested to stick with the manufacturer you have had success with in the past.
Jason
Is the 2014 Easton MAKO bat single or double walled? I am starting a 12U travel baseball team in my area next year. Currently my son plays in PONY League and the bat is permitted. The travel league however lists "Double Wall Bats Not Permitted" for 12U teams. I purchased the 29" MAKO bat earlier this year for my son and he currently uses it in PONY baseball. R1Peacock
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is a double wall composite bat.
Kara
My son is 10 years old. He is 4'5" and weighs about 80 lbs. He is a great contact hitter and is currently using an Easton XL3 in a 29/18. He would like to use the MAKO, and I would like him to use this next year. What size do you recommend? Ian
Based on his approximate height and weight, I would probably suggest a 30/19 in the 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14MK). This size will also allow him to use it next year as well.
Merritt
Is it okay for this bat to be used in a batting cage with rubber balls? Also is it okay for another person to use this bat? Vinie
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth should not be used in batting cages with the yellow dimpled balls. Other players can use the bat, but it is best if it is limited to one player. If you can avoid multiple users and the yellow dimpled cage balls, the bat will have a longer lifespan.
Jason
I heard rumors about a MAKO TORQ and a 2015 MAKO. Is it true? vook
Yes, Easton is releasing both a MAKO model and the MAKO TORQ for their 2015 line.
Justin R.
I have an 11 year old son who is deciding on whether he wants Easton Mako or an Easton XL1. What do you recommend? Jon
Both the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) and the 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14MK) would be great options. The major differences would be that the MAKO has an enhanced connection point between the barrel and the handle that helps reduce sting and vibration. The XL1 is more of an end-loaded design so it will be more barrel heavy and more suited for a power hitter style player.
Patrick
My 11 year old son is 4'11" and 100 lbs. and plays on a tournament team. Also, he has quick hands. Which bat do you think would be better for him, the MAKO or the XL1? Also, which size? Tracy
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is a balanced, two-piece bat designed for a contact hitter that needs to increase their bat speed. The 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1) is an end loaded bat and best for a player with quick hands. Based on his height and weight we recommend a 30" bat.
Kara
I just purchased the MAKO bat for my 12 year old son. How do I break it in? joey
To properly break-in your 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) we recommend to take 100-200 swings off a tee or soft toss. Rotate the barrel approximately 1/4" each swing. Make sure to avoid using a composite bat in batting cages that use yellow dimpled balls.
Kara
I have a MAKO, and I've used it for about 16 games and batting practice. I've had about 400 hits with it, and it feels broken in. Will it last over the summer and into the fall? Also, will it have pop when I play in the fall, or will it be dead? baseball addict
The composite material used in the 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14MK) will expand over its lifetime, making it become more powerful. Therefore, you will continually see the performance increase the more that you use it. It should last you through the summer and fall.
Merritt
I am 10 years old and am a fast swinger. Should I get the MAKO or XL1? Pablo
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) has a balanced swing weight designed for the contact hitter, while the 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1) has a slight end load to it which is made for the power hitter, so I would choose whichever bat would fit your game better.
Kyle J.
My son is 10 years old. What bat do you recommend him getting: the Easton MAKO or the DeMarini CF6? andrew
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth and the DeMarini CF6 are both very similar bats in both design and performance. They both feature two-piece fully composite designs with balanced swing weights. The choice should be made by preference in manufacturer.
Jason
Can this bat resist cracking at 50 degrees? max
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) is not recommended for use in under 60 degrees. There is no guarantee that it will break but the colder temperatures will raise the odds of damage.
Brandon
Is this bat Little League approved? baseball
Yes, the 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14MK) will be Little League approved.
Merritt
Is the MAKO end loaded like the XL1? Or is it balanced like the S1? 3timeSFLLall*Jay
The 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14MK) is going to be extremely balanced, and will be similar to the Easton S1.
Merritt
I am switching from an S1 to either an XL1 or a MAKO. I am a good hitter. I consistently hit balls to the fence, but only have one home run. Should I get the MAKO or the XL1? cody bro
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) will feel like the S1 in swing weight. The MAKO will not only have a very balanced feel, but also a longer more extended barrel. The XL1 will have the same extended barrel but more of a barrel heavy feel. Either one will help you get that extra performance you need.
Brandon
I am confused on which bat to get between the Mako or the XL1. I hit great with both bats. Which one should I choose? keddercheese
Both the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) and the 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1) are great options and fairly similar by design. The main difference is the weight distribution. The XL1 is end-loaded while the MAKO is balanced. The preference between the two would be based on which style you prefer.
Patrick
Is the Easton Mako Youth on sale in a 30 inch 19 ounce size? max
We currently do not have the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) available in that size so it would not be part of the featured sale as of now.
Patrick
When will the MAKO Torq come out and all of the new 2015 Easton bats? johnny appleseed
The 2015 Easton line will be released early September.
John
Is the MAKO approved for Junior Babe Ruth leagues? Dan
Yes, the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) is approved to play in Babe Ruth.
Cooper
Why do they say the Mako has the "fastest swing speed" when it's 1 oz heavier than the S1? Is the Mako that much better than the S1? SandyEggo
Both the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) and the 2014 Easton S1 (YB14S1) will be very balanced and have very low M.O.I meaning very light swing weight. The MAKO is very well balanced which makes the swing weight feel just that much lighter. The other feature that many see as an added benefit to the MAKO is that while it is so balanced, it also has an extended barrel size over the S1.
Patrick
Do you have any 30 inch 19 ounce models available? tom
We do not currently have any 30 inch 19 ounce 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth bats in stock. Our site runs on a live inventory basis so if it is available in the warehouse it is on the site. If it is not showing up on the site we do not have it available.
Patrick
Is the MAKO Torq better than the MAKO? Is the Torq allowed in Little League? Schneids
The 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ will be different from the regular 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) in that it will have a piece on the handle that rotates so it helps with your hand alignment. Other than that it will be similar in performance. It has not been shared with us whether or not the TORQ will make the list of approved bats for Little League.
Patrick
Do you have a youth 31" 22 oz. in pink? In a low price range? sis
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) will be an orange and white color scheme. They are not any pinks bats. There is a 31" youth bat but the weight will be 20 oz.
Brandon
My son swings a 32 inch 19 oz bat. Which size Mako should I get him? The length and weight are different. E
The length to weight ratio on the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is -11 so a 32 inch bat would actually weigh 21 ounces. If you want the bat to weigh 19 ounces you would need to go with a 30 inch size.
Patrick
I am 10 years old, 5 feet tall and 90 pounds. I'm more of a contact hitter but i have power. What bat would you recommend: the MAKO, XL1, or S1? AWESOME kid
For someone like yourself I would probably recommend either the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) or the 2014 Easton S1 (YB14S1 Youth). Both of those are going to benefit you because of their balanced feel.
Cooper
Is the Easton Mako -11 approved for use in Little League Intermediate (50/70) division? Dude
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is not legal for the Intermediate Division of Little League. All bats with composite barrels must be -3 and BBCOR certified.
Bobby
Would the MAKO or S1 be better than the Voodoo Overlord if you are a power hitter? baseball
Out of those three modes, I would say that the DeMarini Voodoo Overlord may be better suited for a power hitter due to its end loaded swing weight. That being said, many power hitters do swing more balanced bats like the Easton S1 and the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK).
Marcus
Does this bat need to be broken in? caden
Composite bats like the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) benefit from a brief break-in process of about 150-200 hits of soft toss or tee work while rotating the barrel of the bat.
Patrick
Which bat would give me great bat speed and pop the Easton Mako or the DeMarini CF6? Thanks Jim
Both the Easton MAKO and the DeMarini CF6 are well balanced for a quick bat.
Damon
We have the Mako and it is awesome but everyone on my son's team wants to use it. Will it lose its effectiveness the more it gets used? tash
Composite barrel bats like the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) will continue to break down and get hotter and hotter throughout their lifespan. However, use by multiple people will shorten that lifespan and make the bat break sooner.
Patrick
My son is 4 foot 5 and weighs 73 pounds. He wants to use this bat for fall ball and next baseball season. What size would you recommend that would also be good for next year? Jill
Based on your son's height and weight we can come up with a range for what would be a good size of the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) for his current size. We cannot estimate the growth he will see in the next year but the upper end of the range we would suggest would be a 30 inch bat.
Patrick
When does the Torq come out? I just got the Mako 31 inch 20 ounce. Is that a good bat for a 4 foot 9 12 year old boy who weighs 75 pounds? Schneids
based on your height and weight, that would be a good size of the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) for you. The new lineup from Easton comes out in September of this year.
Patrick
I would like to get a MAKO for my first year of Babe Ruth baseball. Is it legal? I am 12 years old. Tommy Boy
Yes, the 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14MK) will be legal for the Cal Ripken 6-12 year old age division.
Merritt
If my easton mako 2014 is chipping what should i do to help prevent that? Or fix the chipped parts? smudzie
There is nothing really you can do to fix the chipped parts of the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) but to prevent it from happening more would be to make sure you do not hit the bats on your cleats or anything like that.

My son is going into 5th Grade. Can he use a big barrel bat? Papa
Unfortunately, that depends on your specific league's ruling which can vary across leagues. For a player in 5th Grade, you might still be required to use the 2 1/4" barrel diameter of the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth. Concerning bat legality, it is best to check with a coach or league director.
Mac
What size bat should I get? I am 5'2" and 120 pounds. baseball boss
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 31" 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth. For more information sizing, check out our Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Tessa
Does the 2014 Easton MAKO have to be broken in? Crusher2332
Yes, the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) will require a break-in process. We recommend 150 swings off the tee or soft toss. Make sure you rotate the barrel a quarter of an inch every 15-20 swings to fully break-in the composite fibers.
John
My son is using a COMBAT B1 29/18. He is looking for a new bat and is 9 years old. The coach is recommending a 28/18 size. Which bat would you recommend for my son? looking for a new bat
The 2014 COMBAT Wanted (WANYB110 Youth) bat would be an ideal model in the 28" 18 oz. size. The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) will be slightly lighter in a -11 size. Either bat would have high performance and great durability for a two-piece, balanced, fully composite design.
Brandon
Is there going to be a new MAKO in 2015? hot weels
Yes, the 2015 MAKO youth bat will be released around 9/1/2014. It will be very similar to the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) with a slightly different color scheme.
Brandon
Are they all big barrels? KICK
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) has the smaller, 2 1/4" barrel. The 2014 Easton MAKO (SL14MKB) is the 2 3/4" barrel and the 2014 Easton MAKO (SL14MK9) is the 2 5/8" barrel.
John H
Is the MAKO better than the XL1, 2, and 3? hot weels
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth is the top of the line bat from Easton. However, the XL series tends to be better for power hitters and the MAKO tends to be better for contact hitters. The MAKO has an extremely balanced swing weight, which is ideal for contact hitters.
Jason
Do you offer a 31" 19 oz. in this style? Plisken
Unfortunately, this 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) Youth bat is not produced in the -12 length to weight ratio that would provide the 31" 19 oz. size. The S1 would be the Easton Youth model offered in that size: http://goo.gl/6ZGWwn.
Mac
I play in the minor league and I got my MAKO about 4 months ago and the end-cap popped off today when i was hitting. Is there a warranty on the bat? If so what is it? Also, I'm a contact hitter with power. Do you think I should get an S1 or a DeMarini CF6? Which bat is better in performance? likeaboss
The 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14MK) does have a 12 month manufacturer's warranty on it. I would probably recommend going for the DeMarini CF6. The paradox composite material incorporated will definitely be able to give you some good power, and high performance.
Merritt
What has more pop: the Easton MAKO or the Easton Omen? D-TwiceDaBoss25
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is constructed with Easton's TCT composite and is higher in quality than the IMX composite used in the Easton Omen.
John H
Easton S1 or Mako? jpoigfg
Both the Easton MAKO and S1 are two-piece composite bat designs. They will be very high performing and have a very light swing weight. The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth) is made of Easton's newer TCT Thermo composite. It will also have a longer barrel length.
Brandon
Easton S1 or MAKO? jpoigfg
The 2014 Easton S1: (YB14S1) and the 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14MK) are going to be very similar in the sense they are both balanced, two-piece composite designs. The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) will incorporate a TCT Thermo Composite material that will create a bigger sweet spot. However, both models will be high performing, and will be top quality.
Merritt
Is it true that the yellow dimple balls in batting cages can hurt composite bats? derek
Yes, using the yellow dimpled cage balls does have the possibility of harming the 2014 Easton MAKO: (YB14MK). I would not recommend using these balls, because it can create durability problems in the future.
Merritt
Is the bat still good if the end cap comes off? KG
A damaged end-cap does have the potential to compromise the bat's performance. However, the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14MK) does have a 12 month manufacturers warranty. A damaged end-cap is one of the defect qualifications. Therefore, you would be covered by Easton to get a replacement model if you choose to do so.
Merritt
My son's bat is developing a lot of cracks on the barrel. Would this be covered under the 12 month warranty? Kerry
Yes, the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth (YB14MK) does feature a 12 month manufacturers warranty through Easton that would cover any types of cracks along the barrel.
John
Why is the 32 inch bat cheaper then the 31 inch baseball bat? A
The 32" 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14MK) is cheaper due to supply and demand reasons. The 31" tends to be in higher demand, therefore, the price is slightly increased.
Merritt
I've heard that after the Majors division in Little League, that you have to use a big barrel bat, is that true? texas34
After the majors division in Little League, the legal requirement is to use a bat incorporating a 2 5/8" barrel diameter. Therefore, the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14MK) would not be legal.
Merritt
My son is 5'1" and 95 lbs. He's currently been using the XL3 but looking to switch to Mako since he's a little behind on his swing. Do you recommend the Mako or should he use a different bat like the S1? Young_Master_82
Both the Easton MAKO Youth (YB14MK) and the Easton S1 Youth (YB14S1) are great options and will increase your sons bat speed, the main difference between the two is that the MAKO will have a longer barrel than the S1.
Sean
I am 4'11" and weigh 90 lbs. What size bat should I get? What bat is good for me? I am a contact hitter. tyler
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 30" model in the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK). The MAKO features a two-piece balanced design and is ideal for contact hitters.
Jason
I am 4'11" and 90 pounds. I am a power hitter, therefore, which bat is better for me? The Easton MAKO or XL1? Vegas
Based on your playing style, I would probably suggest the 2014 Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14X1). This model will incorporate a slight end-load, and typically, this characteristic is favored by bigger hitters. Therefore, I think the 2014 Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14X1) would work extremely well for your game.
Merritt
I'm 11 years old and the end-cap of my Easton XL1 came off in a tournament this weekend. I was hitting great and loved this bat. Should I replace it? Or move to a different bat? I'm 5'2" and 103 lbs. My XL1 was a 30/20. jb4mac
The 2014 Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14X1) does come with a 12 month manufacturers warranty. Therefore, if the bat becomes defective within a year of the purchase date, you would be able to contact Easton and get a replacement. Therefore, if you liked this bat a lot, and are still under warranty, I would continue to use this model.
Merritt
I am 4 foot 8 and weigh 80 pounds. I am not the best hitter. I am usually late with slow bat speed. What Easton do you recommend and what size and weight? I was looking at the Mako, XL1, or S1. joey
If you are needing to create more bat speed, I would stick with either the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) or the 2014 Easton S1 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S1). Both of those bats will be more balanced than the 2014 Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14X1) which will make them easier to swing faster. Based on your height and weight, we would suggest a 29 inch bat.
Patrick
My son is 5'1" and a thin 82 lbs. He's not the strongest kid but he has a lot of bat speed, and is a very good contact hitter. He loves the MAKO. What size would you recommend for the bat to last through the 2015 season? It will be around 18 months. Mike
Based on the player's approximate height and weight, I would suggest 30". However, if you are wanting the bat to last a little bit longer, I would probably suggest increase the size to 31" or 32", so that he can increase his time using the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14MK).
Merritt
I am 5 foot 5 and weigh 100 pounds. Should I get the Mako or the XL1? Also, what size should I buy? johnny baseball
Based on your height and weight, we would suggest a 31 inch bat. The preference between the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) and the 2014 Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14X1) would be based on whether you prefer a more balanced design like the MAKO or a more end-loaded feel like what the XL1 would be. Both bats are very nice options.
Patrick
Can you change the color and/or the design? gavin catcher
Unfortunately, no. You are not able to customize the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK).
Mac
Can my daughter use this in ASA approved leagues? Softball dad
The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) is a Youth baseball bat, so it does not have the ASA certification stamp necessary that most leagues require for it to be considered legal for play. We recommend double checking with a coach or league official to be certain.
Tessa
When is the 2015 MAKO coming out and is are you going to be able to customize it? gavin catcher
We have not received much information about Easton's 2015 line of bats but I do not believe that you will be able to customize it. As for the release date, they are scheduled to come out on September 1st.
Cooper
I am having trouble finding a 29". Do you have any suggestions or am I late to this party? I understand there is a 2015 Mako coming out in September. John
Unfortunately, we do not have any of the 29" MAKO's and since they are such a popular size many sites will be sold out of it. The new Easton line is scheduled to be released September 1st.
Cooper
How will the new 2015 Mako compare to the 2014? Sam
The 2015 model will be very similar in terms of overall design and the materials used to the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK).
Patrick
When will you be able to buy this bat on here? AWESOME kid
Unfortunately, we can't guarantee that we will restock this 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) in any particular size on any particular date. Easton will release the 2015 models on 9/5 of this year, so we may get the 2014 models back in stock.
Mac
is this bat good for kid pitch? Big dog
The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) is designed for kid pitch and will perform very well in that setting.
Bobby
How long is the barrel? austin salani
The length of the barrel, will ultimately be decided upon the length of the bat for the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14MK).
Merritt
Do you have the 2014 composite MAKO in a 27" 14 oz? wamt
The smallest size the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) was made in was a 28" 16 oz. However, we no longer have that size available.
Jason
I'm 5'7" and weigh 180 lbs. What size bat should I get? billy bo
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 32" 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK).
Tessa
I know you don't have any in stock, but is the 2014 Easton MAKO (25/15) composite as well? thx in advance
Regardless of the size that you are looking for, the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14MK) will all feature the same TCT Thermo Composite material.
Merritt
I am 10 years old and am 4'8" or 4'9" and weigh around 80 lbs. Should I get a 30" 19 oz or 31" 20 oz? K-Dog
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 30" model in the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK).
Jason
I am 4'8" or 4'9" and weigh 80 lbs. Should I get a 30" 19 oz or 31" 20 oz? K-Dog
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 30" 19 oz model in the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK).
Jason
My son is 5 foot 1 and weighs 150 pounds. Most of his hits go to the outfield. Should I get him the MAKO or the XL1? What size should I get? I am looking to help him overall with contact and power. He has been using a 30 inch 18 ounce bat. Bama
Based on his height and weight, we would suggest a 32 inch bat for your player. If you are looking to increase bat speed, I would go with the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK). If you think that his bat speed is good where he is at and that he could handle a more end-loaded feel to the bat, the 2014 Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14X1) may be able to add more power to his game.
Patrick
Is it true that after 2 months the MAKO loses its pop a little? Tony
We are not aware of any issues like that associated with the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) most of the feedback we have gotten has indicated that the MAKO is a very durable and high performing model.
Patrick
What size should I get? I am 5' 3" and weigh 125 lbs. Dj
The recommended length for your height and weight is 31". For more sizing options, check out our Bat Coach. http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
John H
I know the 2015 MAKO is coming out in September. I prefer a 2014 30/29 but it is out of stock on your site. Is there any chance you will have more 2014 30/29 coming in? ClayClay
Unfortunately, we will not be receiving anymore of the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth (YB14MK) since it has been discontinued by Easton.
John
Will the 2015 Mako be approved for Little League play? Richi.mo
Yes, the 2015 Easton MAKO will be approved for play in Little League.
Cooper
When is the 2015 MAKO being released? chris
The new 2015 Easton line is scheduled to come out in the beginning of September.
Cooper
Was considering buying this bat for my son. He will be playing 50/70 this fall. Can you tell me if this bat meets the following requirement?: All composite barrel bats shall meet the Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution (BBCOR) performance standard, and such bats shall be so labeled with a silkscreen or other permanent certification mark. The certification mark shall be rectangular, a minimum of a half-inch on each side and located on the barrel of the bat in any contrasting color. Thanks Coach P
No, the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) will not feature the BBCOR stamp and certification you'll need. You will need this model: 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14MK).
Brandon
What is the differece bewteen the youth MAKO and fastpitch MAKO? larry
The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) is a baseball bat where as the Fastpitch model is a softball bat.
Cooper
I bought this bat earlier this season & need to know if it can be used in 13-15 Babe Ruth since it is all composite. It says Babe Ruth approved under the description but this is what it says on the Babe Ruth Website. All aluminum/alloy barrel bats and all composite handle (only) aluminum/alloy barrels are allowed. Only composite barrel bats certified and marked BBCOR .50 will be allowed Bines
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) is approved for Babe Ruth play. Unfortunately, for the 13-15 division, the bats are required to have the larger 2 5/8" barrel which is larger than the barrel on this model. The Easton MAKO (YB14MK) would not be legal for play in the 13-15 division of Babe Ruth.
Kelby
Why does Easton say that this bat is lighter than the Easton S1 even though the Mako is -11 and the S1 is -12? AWESOME kid
The very low M.O.I on the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) gives it a very light swing weight that would give it a similar lightweight feel to the 2014 Easton S1 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S1).
Patrick
I'm a 10 years old little leaguer and I am 5ft tall and 80lbs I am a mid power hitter. I am looking for a bat that is powerful and has good pop. What bat do you recommend? Spidey
Based on results from our Bat Coach (http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/), we recommend a 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) for a player with your height and weight.
Sean
My son is turning 8 years old. He is 48 inches tall and weighs 53 pounds. His hitting coach is recommending that we upgrade his bat from the Easton S500 to the Easton MAKO in the 28 ounce size. Others have recommended the S1 or S3. What would you recommend? No-No
The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK), 2014 Easton S1 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S1), and the 2014 Easton S3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S3) are all nice options that would have their individual advantages. The preference between the three would come down to what you are looking for. The S3 will be a stiffer design that will allow for more control over the bat head while swinging and will be alloy which will be hot out of the wrapper and priced lower than the other two. The S1 is a two-piece composite design that will flex more and provide a whipping motion with the bat that can help increase bat speed. The MAKO is similar in design to the S1 but has a more extended barrel for a larger sweet spot and an enhanced connection point between the barrel and the handle which will make it slightly more effective at reducing sting or vibration to the hands.
Patrick
My son is turning 11, is 5 ft. and weighs 100 lbs. I'm tossed up on getting the MAKO or XL1. He has a nice swing and more of a contact hitter. Normally singles, doubles, and triple here and there. Lots of line drives. Would like to get a bat he will be able to use for a couple years. Shaner
If your son is more of a contact hitter, the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) may be the better option. The MAKO features a balanced swing weight, which is generally preferred by contact hitters. The MAKO also features an extended barrel design, which is normally only seen in end loaded bats (such as the XL1), so it is the best of both worlds for both contact and power hitting. Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 30" bat.
Tessa
I heard that Babe Ruth was banning all composite bats like the MAKO in 2015, is there any truth to this? Wheels
I believe that leagues such as Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken had once discussed this possibility, however, at this time I have not heard anything concrete in regards to the complete removal of all composite bats. Therefore, I do not believe this will hold true, and bats such as the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14MK) will remain legal.
Merritt
Does this bat, or the 2015 model, need to be broken in? If so, what is the best method? Thenoseknows
The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) and the 2015 Easton MAKO will perform best if they are broken in. The best way to break-in a bat is 100-150 swings off a tee while rotating the barrel. You want to work your bat speed up from about half speed up. For more break-in tips check out our video: http://www.justbats.com/blog/index.php/3789/breaking-in-your-composite-baseball-bat/
Jason
Is it a better bat than the 2015 Easton MAKO composite? snake brick
The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) will feature the same materials and swing feel of the new 2015 model. They will hit very much the same. One is not better than the other.
Brandon
The clear coating peeling off my son's 2014 MAKO. Should this be sent back to the manufacturer for replacement? Also, what does the actual end cap look like? amy
The issue with the clear coat on this 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) may be something that would fall under Easton's warranty, but they would unfortunately have the official word on that. You can reach them at: (888) 259-1297. Concerning the end cap, we do have a picture of it on the site: http://goo.gl/iluQQC. It would be the white piece at the end of the barrel.
Mac
My grandson is 10 years old, weighs 56 lbs, and is 4'4". He uses a 29" or 30" bat now. However, what size and weight should he be using? We are planing on buying him a 2015 junior Easton Torq. He wants a 31" but I know that's to big for him. I know he's still growing though. Ray
Based on the player's approximate height and weight, I would probably suggest 29" in the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14MK). I think a 30" could also work well, but a 31" might be a little too big.
Merritt
I am 11 years old. I weigh 126 pounds and I am 5 foot 2. I use a 30 inch bat and I want to go up to a 31 inch. Can I? Justin 99
Based on your height and weight, a 31 inch bat would be a good fit for you. We do not have any 31 inch 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) left in inventory but in the new 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) we have that size available.
Patrick
what are the recommended height and weight for the Mako 30 and the 31. Also, what would be the approximate age? buffy
There would be a wide range of heights and weights that could use those sizes of the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK). The sizing would be based less on age and more on size and what restrictions the league has on barrel diameter or material. Here is a link to our sizing guide: http://www.justbats.com/buying-guides/baseball-bats/youth/ The youth bat sizing chart is on the bottom of the page.
Patrick
I can't decide between the MAKO and the XL1 for my 10 year old (30/19). Any help would be appreciated. tom
The biggest difference between both models is essentially going to be the weight distribution. The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14MK) will be very balanced, and will be an ideal model for a contact-hitter. The 2014 Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14X1) will incorporate a slight end-load, and generally power hitters are going to prefer this type of weight distribution.
Merritt
My son is 11 years old, is 5'2", and 90 lbs. He used a 29/17 bat last year, but we are looking to move up to a big barrel bat this coming year. He is a great contact-hitter and is looking for a bat to ease the transition to a big barrel. Would an Easton MAKO or S1 bat be a better option? I was thinking about the 29/19. Any advice? Mike
The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14MK) might be an excellent model to take a look at because it will incorporate a large sweet spot and extended barrel. This model is perfect for contact-hitters and will make generating a fast bat swing very easy. It is also one of the most well balanced models. Overall, this model has also probably been one of our best sellers.
Merritt
We are looking at buying my son a new bat. He is 59 inches tall and weighs 91 lbs. Which size bat would work best for him? We are looking at a 31/20. Is that too big? Also, is the 2015 Easton MAKO a better bat than the 2014 Easton MAKO? James
Based on his approximate height and weight, I would suggest 30". However, 31" can also work very well for him. This may allow him to use the bat a little bit longer as well, moving up a size. The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: (YB14MK) and the new 2015 model will have the same material, construction and technology. The biggest difference will simply be a difference in cosmetics (appearance and design).
Merritt
I am a 11 year old kid and 90 lbs. What bat should I use? hammer
The best way to determine the correct bat size is by a players height and weight. 11 year old players are typically using a 30" bats. The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) is an excellent option for any player. The 2015 Easton MAKO is another solid option that is available in a 30". For more sizing information check out our Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Jason
I am a contact hitter using a 31" drop 5 XL1 with good strength. I am 5'2" 90 lbs. To create more bat speed, should I switch to the MAKO? bigbarrel
The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) has a more balanced swing weight and lighter length to weight ratio. The combination of the -11 length to weight ratio and the balanced design are two things that can help a player increase their bat speed.
Jason
What size should a 9 year old, 63 lb. kid be swinging? What bat will help him make the ball travel a little further: the MAKO or the COMBAT? Tgar
The best way to determine the correct bat size for a player is based on their height and weight. Typically, a 9 year old is swinging a 30" model in the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK). The Easton MAKO is not necessarily going to perform better than a COMBAT. They both have the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp and are capped under the same restrictions. For more sizing information check out our Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Jason
Can you use this bat in cold weather below 60? Sabo
We do not recommend using any non-wood bat, including the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) Adult, in temperatures below 55°F (13°C). In those temperatures, the ball becomes much more dense and could damage or shorten the useful life of your bat. Composite can crack, and alloy can dent, so neither material is proven to be better in cold weather, unfortunately.
Mac
What size bat would you suggest for a 10 year old weighing 100 lbs and is 4'9"? Baseball Mom
Based on his height and weigh, we recommend a 30" model in the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK).
Jason
What is the difference between the MAKO and the XL3? Does one have more power? jdogg
The 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) will be a two-piece, fully composite bat with a balanced swing weight. The Easton XL3 will be a one-piece alloy bat with an end loaded swing weight. The end loaded swing weight causes the bat to swing slightly heavier but can help produce slightly more power.
Kelby
I would like to know the difference in the Easton MAKO and the S1. Which is better for a 10 year old that's 58" and 88 lbs? cam
Both of those bats would be great for a player at that age. The Easton S1 is a fully composite design. It will be very balanced. The MAKO is also a full composite design. It will be made of a different type of composite than the S1. The barrel length will be extended compared to the S1 and will be just as balanced. Either bat would be a great choice!
Brandon
I am 5'7 and 160 pounds. Should I buy a MAKO? tiller
Without knowing much about your hitting style, it is tough to recommend which bat would be best for you. The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) is a great choice for a player who can hit for both power and contact. It features a balanced swing weight, which is generally preferred by contact hitters. It also has an extended barrel, which is generally only seen in end loaded bats. If you are more of a power hitter, and are on the stronger side, I would recommend checking out an end loaded bat to see if those specs may better suite your hitting style. A great choice I would recommend would be the MAKO XL.
Tessa
What is the difference between the -11 and -10 MAKO? tony
The 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) will be a -11. It will be a Youth bat and have the small 2 1/4" barrel diameter. The -10 MAKO will be a Senior League bat. Not only will it one oz. heavier, but it will feature a big barrel. The barrel diameter will be 2 5/8".
Brandon
My 11 year old is tiny. He is 4 foot 4 and weighs 65 pounds. How can I tell what size and type of bat to get him? kfcdad
Based on his height and weight, we would suggest a 28 inch bat for your son. The type would be based more on his style of play and what you are looking for in terms of feel and durability but the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) is a top of the line model that performs very well.
Patrick
I am looking at a new bat for my 9 yr old son (will be 10 next spring). He is 55" and weighs about 75 lbs. He just moved up to a 29" 17 oz. this past fall from 28/16 and sometimes struggles with bat speed. I am looking at a 2015 Mako, either the 29" 18 oz. or the 30" 19 oz. Should I play it safe and go with the 29" or go to the 30" now? PM
For the size of your son and knowing he is having trouble with a 29" as it it now I would just stick with a 29" 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK). If you move to the 30" now he will only continue to struggle.
Jake
Can you use the mako SL14MK in 50/70 Little League? Robert
The Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) would not be used in that level of Little League play because in that division "Composite-barreled baseball bats in this division, regardless of barrel size, must meet BBCOR (Batted Ball Co-Efficient of Restitution) standards, and must be so labeled." This bat has a composite barrel but does not feature BBCOR certification.
Patrick
My son left his MAKO outside and the dog chewed the small gray rubber piece off that is right between the handle and barrel, can I purchase that piece separately? Thank you. Mike
Our company does not issue and/or cover the warranty associated with the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK). The manufactures, in this case Easton, is who you need to contact about what options are available for you based on your situation. Below I have put the phone number for Easton's warranty line: (888) 259-1297

Is this a legal bat for Junior League baseball per Little League International rules? Waddy
No, the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) would not be legal for play in the Junior Division of Little League. The MAKO features a composite barrel. Per the league rules, if the player uses a composite bat, it must be BBCOR certified. Here is a link to the model that would be legal for him to use in Juniors: http://goo.gl/3Q6jM9

My son is 8, but he'll be turning 9 soon. He is 4'3" and 60 lbs. He swings a 28" 17 oz. now with no problem. I bought the 2015 Mako in 29" 18 oz. Do you think this is too big? wyatt
I think an Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) in 29" 18 oz. would be a good size for your son to bump up to.
Jake
Is it approved for 1.15? 17
The Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) does have the 1.15 BPF USSSA stamp required for play.
Patrick
How can I tell what version year of the MAKO bat I have? Rob
The MAKO has only been produced for the 2014 and 2015 product lines. If the bat pictured is not the same colorway as the one you have, you would have the newest 2015 model. This Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) is the 2014 model.
Mac
How many degrees can the 2015 Easton MAKO withstand? xman
The Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) is a fully composite bat and should not be used in temperatures below 55 degrees. The ball becomes more dense in the colder temperatures and can cause a composite bat to crack.

Do any stores have the Easton 2014 Mako? baseball_life
Given that production was stopped on the 2014 model of the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) when the 2015 came out, stores would be limited on their selection of what they would still have left because they cannot order more. We do not have records on other store's inventory so we could not confirm that there would be any that have them.
Patrick
My grandson is 9 years old and 90 lbs. What size would you recommend for him? Fast Eddie
For a player of your grandson's size, our bat coach would recommend the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) in a 30" 19 oz. model. Unfortunately, we do not have this size in stock, so you would have to look at the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Joe
My son is 4' 8" and weighs 65 lbs, and is currently using a 29" 19 oz. bat. Would you recommend staying at this size? Little big man
According to our bat coach feature on our website, a 29-30" bat is what the average player your son's size uses. The Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) is a two-piece composite bat that features a balanced swing weight, so going up a size shouldn't be a problem for your son.

My son is 10. He is 4 foot 6 and weighs 102 pounds. We are sticking with a 30 inch bat but what weight would you recommend? He is pretty strong and can hit for power. I am stuck on the Mako or Mako XL. There is one ounce difference in each bat. He had an S1 that was 29 inches and 17 ounces last year that he hit very well with. I don't want to sacrifice speed but want more pop. rocket man
Based on what he had been using, I would suggest the 30 inch 19 ounce Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK). About a 2 ounce adjustment is usually what we recommend limiting a player's transition to. This allows for more mass to the bat but also allows the player to keep swing speed and form relatively in tact. Going with the 2015 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKX) would make it a 3 ounce adjustment which would make the transition that much harder.
Patrick
My son is 11 years old, 4'9" and 75 lbs. What size MAKO do you recommend? mel
For a player of his age and size, our bat coach would recommend the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) in a 30" 19 oz. model. We do not currently have that size in stock, so we would recommend the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in that same size.
Joe
I am 12 and 95 lbs. I swing a 31" 21 oz bat. Should I stay with the size? What is better: The 2014 MAKO or the 2014 Easton XL1? Uintahbaseball_o3
The best way to determine the correct size of bat for a player is by their height and weight. However, a 12 year old is typically swinging a 31" bat. It really depends on what type of hitter you are to determine which bat is best for you. The Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) has a balanced swing weight and is typically better for contact hitters. The Easotn XL1 has a slightly end loaded swing weight and is better for a power hitter.
Jason
I am 10 years old. I weigh 60 pounds and I am 4 foot 4. I have a MAKO that is 29 inches. Is it to big? copperpig98
A 29 inch Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) would be within the range of sizes we would expect a player of your size to be using.
Patrick
Can this be used for both baseball and softball? kate
No, the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) cannot be used for softball. You will run into durability issues, and approval issues with her league.
Frankie
My son is 9 years old and about 70 lbs. He likes the new MAKO bats but thinks he needs a 30" 19 oz. What size do you think he should be using? He is 4'5" tall and has a very good swing for his size. Danimal
Based on his height and weight, our Bat Coach recommends a 29" Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK). Sizing is preferential though, so if he would feel more comfortable sizing up to a 30" bat, that is definitely something to take into consideration. For more information on sizing, you can also check out our Bat Resource guide: http://goo.gl/X3AK3W

Does the MAKO come in a 29" 17 ounce? What is the longest MAKO you can get in 17 ounce? Eday
No, the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) does not come in a 29" 17 oz. The only option for the MAKO in the 17 oz. is the 28".
John
I am 4 foot 7 and weigh 70 pounds and I am 11 years old. What size should I get if I want to use it for Williamsport, fall ball and the 2016 Little League season? Which is better; the Mako, CF7 or Louisville Slugger Attack? lilbobbert24
Based on your current size, we would recommend a 29 inch model but if you want to be able to use it for a while, a 30 inch may be a better idea. The Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK), 2015 DeMarini CF7 Youth Baseball Bat (DXCFL), and the Louisville Slugger Attack Youth Baseball Bat (YBAT14-RR) are all nice options. I would say that the MAKO has the largest sweet spot but the Attack and the CF7 are a bit more balanced.
Patrick
Looking at a Mako or S1 for my 11 year old. Which would you recommend? Why? Mis
Both the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) and the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) are great options. If you want a larger sweet spot, the MAKO would be the better choice. If you want the lighter and more balanced bat, go with the S1.
Patrick
My brother is 4 foot tall and weighs 45 pounds. What size Mako should he use? Z-Man
Based on height and weight, we would recommend a 28 inch size of the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK).
Patrick
My son has the 30 inch 19 ounce MAKO. He has used it for about 50 games, and probably 100 rounds of BP since spring. Is there a point where it will lose pop? He loves the bat, and the size will still be appropriate for him next spring (probably more appropriate). Will it still have pop next year? Calv13
If the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) is damaged, the drop in performance would be apparent. If the bat has a severe drop in performance, it may be best to send it to the manufacturer to have them check the model for damage and possibly replace it. There are not tests or tell tale signs you will find besides an extreme drop in performance.
Patrick
My son is 10 years old. He is 5 foot 1 and weighs 85 pounds. He is currently using a 30 inch 17 ounce Easton S500. He wants a mako. He makes good contact but he is not that powerful so he singles out a lot. What size and weight would you suggest? jenarita
Based on height and weight, we would typically recommend a 30 inch size of the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK).
Patrick
I am 4 foot 11, weigh 85 pounds, and am about to start school ball. What size bat would you recommend? Joshua
Based upon your height and weight, I would recommend using a 30" Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB14MK.
John P
Can you still buy this product? Shady
