Description

The Half + Half bat that put DeMarini on the map returns for another season! The DeMarini Vexxum has been crushing the ball for years, and this season it's as mean as ever! Once the first of its kind as far as two-piece bats go, this year's Vexxum combines an X10 Alloy barrel with a C6 Composite handle. The X10 Alloy used on the barrel is finely-tuned and shaped to create the thinnest possible walls. This keeps the weight down and opens up the sweet spot for unbelievable performance! The C6 Composite handle works in unison with the alloy barrel and is specifically tailored for the single wall construction of the Vexxum. C6 features a wider composite weave, which in turn gives it more flex and unparalleled trampoline when the bat makes contact with the ball! The Vexxum is about as balanced as a bat can get, and is absolutely ideal for players looking to improve their swing speed this season! If you want a transitional bat with mad pop and a light swing weight, this Vexxum is for you! DeMarini: Born Hardcore! The Vexxum WTDXVX5 features the USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Dad to 12U Travel Player Dad parent

Pros: Bought 31" -5 for my 12U player who's 5'3 and 105 lbs. Previously swinging 30" -8. Was concerned increase weight/length would cause slow bat speed. Nope!! Better control instead. First tournament using it he went 13-16 with 6 doubles (one line drive was 2" from going out). Fantastic bat!!

Best Bat I've Used Andrew Harris player

Pros: It is a great bat with a big sweetspot! I'm used to -11 so this was a very heavy bat compared to the others I've used ,but when you swing it, it is so balenced and light! Last night I had a game and faced the fastest pitcher I've ever faced and still got a hit because of the balenced weight! If you are debating like I was to buy this bat or th 2015 model get this one because ive used both and the only real difference is the paint job! So buy this bat and save a couple bucks! Last thing is the look. I was a little concererned because I'm not a real big fan of a black colored bat ,but trust me it is a great looking bat!!!

Cons: Only one Con.......... Most everybody on my team wants to use it! :)

I am 12 years old, 5' 6" and 115 pounds. I was looking at the Easton XL1 and the DeMarini Vexxum. What is the difference between these two bats? I am more of a power hitter so I am wondering if the balanced design takes away power/pop from the bat? I realize that the XL1 is end loaded. Travis
Both the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum and the 2013 Easton XL1 are top of the line bats. The Vexxum is very balanced and is a hybrid design. The XL1 is a two-piece composite design with an end loaded swing weight. The more balanced the bat, the quicker your swing speed. A balanced design will not take away any power or pop from the bat.
John H
I have been debating on this bat or the 2013 Easton XL3. I am a contact hitter and like a balanced weighted bat. I would like to know: Which bat is better for me? imma-go-ham
The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVX5 Senior League bat features a very balanced swing weight. The Easton XL3 features a slight end load and is designed for a power hitter. Contact hitters would better utilize the balanced swing weight of this Vexxum.
Mac
I'm 5 feet tall, 13 years old but I will be 14 when I use this, and about 100 pounds. Do you think I should use a drop 5 or a drop 8 bat? ryan
We would recommend using a -5 bat like the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVX5 Senior League. As you move to high school you will have to use a -3. The drop 5 will help make the transition to a heavier bat.
Kara
Is the barrel longer on the 2014 Vexxum 2 5/8" than the 2013 Vexxum? line drive hitta
The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVX5 Senior League does not have a longer barrel. The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum is more balanced than the 2013 Vexxum.
Kara

Based on your son's age, height and weight, I would recommend a 30" in the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum.
Justin R.
My son is 13 5'6" and is swinging a 31-8, want to move him up in weight either a 31-5 or 32-5. Thinking 31-5 would be easier transition, what do you think? TJ
I would recommend sticking with a 31". I think the moving him up in length and added weight might be too much for him. You don't want to get him a bat that is too heavy and have the bat head dropping through the zone.
John
How does the pop of this bat compare to the pop of the Voodoo? Batman
The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVX5 Senior League and -5 Voodoo have the same performance certification, so "pop" will be similar. They are designed for two different players, so it depends on which design you use best. The Vexxum has a balanced swing weight for more bat speed, while the Voodoo has a slight end load that power hitters use more efficiently.

The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum (DXVX5) is a very balanced bat and designed for a contact hitter that needs to increase their bat speed. The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD (DXVD5) is end loaded and is better suited for a power hitter.
Kara
Is there a difference between the 2014 Vexxum and the 2013 other than appearance? Greg
The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVX5 Senior League has an X10 NVS alloy barrel for maximum swing speed. The 2013 Vexxum has an SC4 alloy barrel.

Kara
My son will turn 14 this season. He is undersized but has a good swing and is a contact hitter. He needs a very balanced bat. Would you recommend this bat or the Marucci Elite? Thank you. DD
Both the Marucci Elite and the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVX5 Senior League will be very balanced. I have heard many customer reviews saying the Vexxum feels really balanced and light during swing weight.
Brandon
I am 13 years old, and I am worried a -5 will be too heavy. Will I be okay? J-Man
It can depend on many factors such as your height and weight as well as strength. It is important to keep in mind that high school baseball requires players to use a -3. Therefore, a -5 is typically a good transition size.
Gary T.
Which would be a better bat Voodo Overlord or this one and what would be the biggest difference in the two? sam
The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVX5 Senior League and the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD: DXVD5 Senior League are both going to be two-piece hybrid designs. The Voodoo will have a paradox handle that will make it feel a little bit stiffer. The Vexxum will have a little bit more flex in its C6 composite handle.
Merritt
2014 Vexxum vs. Marucci Black 2: What's the same and what's different? They look very similar to me, but the price difference makes me wonder of I'm missing something. Scooter
The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVX5 Senior League and Marucci Black 2: MSBB28 Senior League are both going to be balanced hybrid designs. The Marucci Black 2 will have an extended barrel for a larger sweet spot and a kevlar reinforced group to eliminate sting. The Vexxum will have a wider composite weave which will provide a little bit more flex and trampoline. Both bats will be very similar in their composition. It will be a few minor details in the technologies used to construct these bats that will make them different.
Merritt
We have a Vexxum youth bat that looks just like this one. My son has moved up this year (13 years old). What is the difference between the senior version and the youth and will a 13 year old really notice the difference? Mh11
The difference between the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVX5 Senior League Bat compared to the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVXL Youth Bat is the size of the barrel. The Senior League vesion features a 2 5/8" barrel diameter and has a -5 oz. length-to-weight ration. The youth model features a 2 1/4" barrel diameter and has a -12 oz. length-to-weight ration. In most cases, a 13 year old will want to swing the Senior League model.
Austin

A balanced bat, such as the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum (DXVX5) will help with bat speed. The bat will come through the zone quicker than an end loaded bat.
Kara
Are there any temperature restrictions that would void a warranty? Also, when it comes to temperature, is it more about the bat or the hardness of the baseballs? Joe
In regards to temperature, it is the ball that becomes harder. Technically, any bat can be damaged in very cold temperatures. If the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum (DXVX5) is used in colder temperatures it would not void the warranty.
Kara
I am looking for a -5 31" Dixie Youth bat. Michael the Machine Baker

Sean
What does senior league mean? I need a 2 5/8 barrel. thad
The designation of "senior league" is an interchangeable term for "youth big barrel." It is just an indication that it is a youth model with a bigger barrel size than 2 1/4 inch diameter. Bats like the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum (DXVX5) Senior League feature a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter.
Patrick
I am turning 13 in 2 days, and I am 5' 100 lbs. I swing for power with two strikes for contact. I have narrowed down three searches to this bat. Is this bat right bat for me? henry
The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum: (DXVX5) would be an excellent choice for you. The two-piece structure will provide a little bit of added flex through the zone, and this feature is great for contact-hitters. The alloy barrel will also provide a lot of great power, and this model will be very hot right out of the wrapper. Therefore, based on your playing style, I think this would be a great choice. It has been highly reviewed, and will very high performing.
Merritt
I am 5' 3" and I weigh 100 pounds. What size bat should I get? Mike
Based on your approximate height and weight, I would probably suggest 31" in the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat: (DXVX5).
Merritt
My son has been using the Easton XL-1 32/27, but it seems to have slowed his bat speed a bit, would this bat be a good switch for him to get more bat speed, but still hit for power? Any other suggestions? Mark
Yes. The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is well balanced and will help with swing speed. Here is a link to our 32" 27 oz. models: http://www.justbats.com/products/length~32%20inch/weight~27%20oz/. The Marucci Black, RIP-IT AIR, and Marucci One will also be well balanced.

I'm 14 years old and I weigh 135 pounds and am about 5 foot 7. I have a price range of $75-$150. What do you suggest for a bat? Ike
The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is a great bat that is within that price range. We would recommend using a 32 inch size.
Patrick
I have a 11 year old that weighs 116 lbs and is 5'4". Would this be a good bat for him? baseball momx3
The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) has a -5 length to weight ratio and is a great bat for players increasing their bat weight. The increase in bat weight works for players working towards a -3 BBCOR bat that will be required in high school. Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 31" model.
Jason
My son likes a balanced bat. Would the Vexxum or the Voodoo be a better option? Terry
The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 would be the better option. The Vexxum is well balanced without an extended barrel, while the Voodoo has an extended barrel and is more end-loaded.
Allison
My son is not a power hitter but can put the bat on the ball fairly fast hands. What are some differences between this bat and the Easton 2015 XL1 -5 all composite bat. He will only need bat for this year in Junior High then will be a Freshman next year where they do not use -5 Gordon
The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is going to be a balanced bat recommended for contact hitters. The Vexxum is also going to be a two piece hybrid, which means it will have a composite handle and an alloy barrel. The 2015 Easton XL1 is going to be an all composite bat and is an end loaded bat, made for power hitters. I would recommend the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum as it is a balanced bat made for contact hitters.
Frankie
My son has a 2013 Easton S1 31" 21 oz. and is now going to a -5 for the new season. He is 5'4" and weights 118 lbs. What size bat should he use? brando
Based on his height and weight, our Bat Coach recommends that he still use a 31" 2014 DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5). Sizing is preferential though, so if he would feel more comfortable going with a 32" bat, that is definitely something to take into consideration.
Tessa
My son is 5'8" and 125 lbs. to 130lbs. He is playing 14U this year and needing to transition to a -5 from a -10 Easton he currently swings. Looking for a balanced bat to negate the loss in swing speed. Would this bat be a good fit and what size would you recommend? Bradley
I would suggest the 32" DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5). The Vexxum is going to be a nice balanced bat so that should help your son make the move to a drop -5 a little smoother.
Jake
My son is about 5' and 105lbs. He is starting a 13U team this year and has been using a -3 and -5 Easton bat. He does pretty good with it. How does this bat compare? Becky
The DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) features a two-piece hybrid design with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. It also offers a very well balanced swing weight. Two-piece models typically increase the flex through the zone which allows for faster bat speeds. Depending on if the Easton model he used was a one-piece or two-piece model, or featured alloy or composite construction, the Vexxum should perform fairly similarly.
Joe
I have just purchased this bat for my son and we were wondering what is the best way to break in this bat? Colin
The DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) features an alloy barrel, which would not require any break-in at all.
Chinyere
What size is the barrel? Sluggershelek
The DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) has a 2 5/8" barrel.
Damon
Is it a -3? Will
The DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) has a drop -5.
Chinyere
My son is 8 years old, would this bat be good fit for him and is it approved for his age group? chino
If you son's league allows big barrel bats with the USSSA stamp then the DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) would be legal. The DXVX5 is going to to be a drop -5 and might be too heavy for an eight year old. I would suggest looking at the DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVXR) which is the same bat only in a drop -10 which is a lighter bat and may be a better fit.
Jake
My son is 12 weighs 76 lbs. He has recently started using -8 Easton, but wanted to get him -5 to start getting some practice swings in before he actually starts using in late summer. Lefty, strong hitter but not so much power hitter. Do you recommend this bat? Ukgirl
The DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) would be a great choice for your son. It features a balanced swing weight, so it will be a good choice for a player who is looking to work on bat speed and bat control. The two-piece design will allow for more flex on contact, which can bring the head of the bat through the zone quicker. The alloy barrel also means that this bat will be to go right out of the wrapper.
Tessa
What is the difference between this Vexxum and the 2015 NVS Vexxum? Bill
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) and the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) do have slight differences. The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum has an upgraded X12 Alloy Barrel and an Ultra Light N2M End Cap. while the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum has a X10 Alloy Barrel.
Tom
I am 14 years old and am now playing in a pre-high school league. I have previously used a 32 inch -12 Louisville Slugger bat. I am 6'1" tall, and weigh 145 lbs. What would be an ideal -5 bat for me? J
Yes, a -5 length to weight ratio bat would be a great choice to use before transitioning to the BBCOR -3 bats in high school. Based on your size, I would recommend using a 32" 27 oz. model in the DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5)
Tom
I am 13 years old and I am 5 foot 8. Is the 32 or 31 inch size the right bat for me? WT
The size of the DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) that you should get would be based on the combination of both your height and your weight. Without knowing both, it would be hard to make a recommendation.
Patrick
What does Senior League mean? sam
Senior League is basically an interchangeable term with "Youth Big Barrel." So a bat like the DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is a youth model just with a bigger barrel.
Patrick
I am 5 foot 3 and weigh 167 pounds. I am 13 and will be 14 in June. I play on a travel team. Is this a bat for me ? I used a drop 10 last year. Sam
A -5 bat like the DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) could be a good way t transition toward a BBCOR model which you will need for high school play. The balanced feel will make the transition easier.
Patrick
I'm a 5'10" and 137 lbs. 12 year old. I want a new bat with lots of pop and is hot off the barrel. I want to know if this bat would be good for me. The bat I use now is the 2014 XL1, would this be a good transition? Zach from Mizuno
The DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is going to be a balanced bat and might be too light for you if you are use to swinging an end-loaded XL1. I would suggest a 2015 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD FT Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVDR instead. The Voodoo Overlord will be end-loaded and feel similar to the XL1 you currently use.
Jake
I am looking for a greatly balanced bat with a lot of pop. Would this be a good bat for me? If not, what recommendations do you have and how does this compare to the Marucci CAT 6? Gtpettis
The DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is an extremely balanced two piece hybrid and would be a great choice for you. The Marucci CAT 6 is a one piece alloy bat that also features a balanced swing weight, but will have a stiffer flex than the Vexxum due to its one piece structure.
Tom
Is this a good bat for high school and college baseball? Zachary
Th DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is a youth big barrel bat that is not BBCOR certified and will be illegal in High School and College Baseball.
Frankie
Can I use this bat in Babe Ruth league? JohnnyZ
The DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is legal for play in the 13-15 year old division of Babe Ruth. It has a 2 5/8" alloy barrel and features the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp, which make it legal for play.
Jason
How much will is this bat weigh with the -5? JJ
To figure out the weight on a bat like the DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) you would subtract 5 from the length. Therefore a 30" model would weigh 25 oz.
Damon
Can this bat be used in little league? chas
The DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is going to be approved for Little League Intermediate (50/70) and the Junior League Divisions.
Frankie
Does this come in a 27 inch? Also, does it come in a different color? JC
No, the smallest size this model is produced in is a 31". The 2015 model of this bat is available in a burnt orange barrel but no other color schemes are offered other than that.
John
Why is the newer model cheaper than the previous year? NL
Here at Just Bats, we have the ability to regulate the price on the DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 based upon the amount we have in stock as well as the demand for this particular bat. That is going to be the reason for the difference in price between this model and the 2015 model.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
