Alex

Pros: - Massive sweet spot - balls go far no matter where you hit on the bat - reverberation is almost nonexistent - great overall balance of bat - Feels comfortable - Best bat I've used (my expertise is limited to under $150 bats)

Cons: Grip can be a little slippery. I personally don't have this problem, but other players on the team have commented on this. Use gloves, problem solved entirely

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Ultimate Weapon Slow Pitch Softball Bat: WTDXUWE? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What's the difference between the 2013 Ultimate Weapon and 2014 Ultimate Weapon? JeffW
The 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon: WTDXUWE Slow Pitch uses the same quality SC4 alloy as the 2013 model.
Kara
Is the bat balanced or end loaded? slick ric
The 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon (WTDXUWE) is slightly end loaded.
Tessa L.
What is the difference between a slow pitch bat and a fastpitch bat? Alan
In general, slow pitch bats will be slightly heavier and most will be 34 inches long as a standard. Fastpitch bats will also be capable of being certified by several governing bodies and slow pitch will be league specific certifications.
Patrick
Why does any aluminum bat require a "breakin" period? How does an aluminum bat lose it's "pop" after a while? bill
Alloy barrel bats do not, generally, require a break-in period at all. Composite barrel bats are the bats that a break in period is suggested for. Alloy bats can lose pop over time just through general use. The nature of the game where the bat is being used to hit a solid object with a good amount of swing speed can wear down the materials and cause them to react differently over time.
Patrick
Is this bat single wall? papito
The 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon (WTDXUWE ) is a single wall bat.
Kara
Is it single wall aluminum or composite? They don't allow composite in our league. alex
This 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon (WTDXUWE) Slow Pitch bat features a One-Piece Alloy Design and single wall barrel construction. There is no composite in this bat, so you should be fine. But your league should also be able to provide a list of approved bats, if you're not quite sure what is required.
Mac
I can not find a non-approved bat list so how do I know if I can use it in my league? Christy
The best way to go about finding out if the 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon (WTDXUWE) is legal for your league is by contacting the league office and asking what certifications or designs the bat needs to have to be deemed usable.
Patrick
What kind of bat would be good to use at the batting cage? ross
I would not recommend using the 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon (WTDXUWE) in commercial batting cages. These cages often use dimpled rubber balls that can put too much stress on a bat because they are heavier and denser.
Bobby
Does this bat have the new 2013 ASA stamp? Also, is it OK to use with 44 cor balls, or only the new 52 cor balls? germantownvol
The 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon (WTDXUWE) will have the new ASA stamp. This bat will be designed to hit the .52 COR, 300 Compression balls.
Kelby
Is this a double wall bat? Tom
No, the 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon (WTDXUWE) Slow Pitch features a single wall construction.
Tessa L.
I just bought one, is it alright to roll this bat even though it is an alloy bat? Digger Lines
The 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon: (WTDXUWE) will incorporate an alloy barrel. Therefore, this model will not require a break-in, or break-in process. This type of material is hot right out of the wrapper, and rolling could potentially harm the alloy material.
Merritt
May be a dumb question, but is this bat an All Metal bat? That is what my league says I must have. Thanks Newby
Yes, the 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon is a one piece full alloy bat so if your league requires an all metal bat, it will be legal.
Cooper
Is this bat good in a league that uses a clincher? Joe G
Unfortunately, there is currently not a specific bat that is considered to be meant specifically for use with the clincher balls but the 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon (WTDXUWE) should work fine with the softer clincher balls.
Patrick
How does it hit mush balls? Big Fella
The 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon Slow Pitch Softball Bat (WTDXUWE) carries the new ASA stamp which means it is designed to hit the new lower compression balls. It should perform very well with .50 or .52 COR balls.
Bobby
What bats are best for playing in a 14 inch (hardball) slow pitch league? bdurf
It depends on the type of balls. The 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon Slow Pitch Softball Bat (WTDXUWE) has the new ASA stamp. These bats are made to hit the .52 core 300 compression balls. Bats that are USSSA certified are made to hit the .44 core 325 compression balls.
Damon
Does this have the USSSA stamp? Z
Yes, the 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon (WTDXUWE) carries the USSSA 1.20 BPF stamp.
Bobby
How will this bat do with the USSSA ball 40 COR mens and womens? John
The 2014 DeMarini Ultimate Weapon Slow Pitch Softball Bat (WTDXUWE) features the new ASA stamp on it, which means that is more geared for use with the softer 52 COR balls. The Ultimate Weapon will do well with the harder .40 COR balls but there is a chance for some durability issues.
Tesa
Is this bat 1.20 USSSA? Josh Torres
Yes, the DeMarini Ultimate Weapon Slow Pitch Softball Bat (WTDXUWE) is 1.20 USSSA stamped.
Frankie
What is "slightly" end loaded? 1/2 oz, 2 oz, or what? from 2013-2018, which are or aren't? steve
A slightly end loaded bat will tend to have a 1/2 ounce end load at the most. As for the DeMarini Ultimate Weapon models, they are currently made with a 1/2 ounce end load.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
