Pros:
Love the bat, great pop, but have some reservations about it. Bought it for my son (8 yrs. old and 60 lbs.) we are half way through the season and the last ball that was hit with it made a "thud" sound instead of a "crack" sound that the bat usually generates. It appears to be cracking!!!!! Lasted maybe 20 games, is this normal? Love the bat, but is this normal for composite bats?
Cons:
Possible lack of longevity.

What is best way to break in the NXT Freak? All I've seen was softball bat instructions.

The 2013 Miken NXT Freak: JNX11C Junior Big Barrel needs to be broken in with 100-200 soft toss swings rotating the barrel a quarter of an inch every ten swings.

My son is a a bit clumsy and is 4'1" and is roughly 60 lbs.This will be his first year of coach pitch. I want to give him a bit of an advantage, what would the appropriate size bat be best for him? Is this bat the best one for him? I can spend around $100 on the bat.
