Pros:
Swung this bat when easton came to my school. Grip feels nice, knob is good, and it is a really good overall bat
Cons:
I didn't see a lot of change between the old model and this one. Honestly I would go with the older one since it is cheaper.

Pros:
Good swing weight, very well balanced. Most pop of all BBCOR.
Cons:
Bat broke after two games. Only used in live practice before the games. Not sure why Easton's "best" bat continues to have durability issues every year.

Is there a difference between the 2012 Easton S1 and the 2013 S1? Is the pop the same?

The 2013 Easton S1 BBCOR: BB13S1 Adult bat features Easton's newest SIC Black Carbon Composite material in the handle. The new composite gives the 2013 model and stiffer flex which should translate to more power for the player. Both bats are BBCOR certified and can only perform so well.

Does this bat and the XL1 require break in time, or is it hot straight out of the wrapper?

Both the XL1 and S1 are full composite bats that require a break-in period of 150-200 hits off a tee or soft toss.
