Awesome Bat!!!!! Money Mars parent

Pros: I originally bought this bat after reading some reviews. My son is 13 and next year he'll have to use a drop -5 so I thought I'd buy something decent he could practice with and occassionally use. Anyway, his drop -10 died so he had to use this bat for the tournament this weekend! Wow, the first game he went 3/4 with great pop. The second game he hit his first home run, priceless!

Good bat but... Lou P parent

Pros: My son plays 13U baseball. His first time up with this bat he hit a line drive triple over the left fielder's head. He hit the ball hard during his other at bats as well so it seems that this bat has good pop and he really likes it.

Cons: Unfortunately, during my son's second game using this bat, he hit the ball off the end of the bat and the end cap broke and half of it came off the bat rendering the bat useless.

Nice transition bat Rich parent

Pros: My son is transitioning from a drop 8 to a drop 3 for high school next year. As a drop 5 this bat has nice balance to it, good sound, decent pop. He hasn't seen much drop off in distance from his previous bat, hit a few out during his first BP with it. His first game he hit a couple line drives and a long 250' bomb (foul). Overall I think it's a good bat to help kids transition to bbcor. Only had it a couple weeks not sure about durability.

Cons: nothing so far

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How does the 2016 Easton XL3 differ from the 2015 XL3? Paint job only? Material difference? wilbur
The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is going to feature an extra-long barrel design that expands the hitting zone and HYPERSKIN Grip while the 2015 Easton XL3 will not. You are correct in saying the cosmetics are different but they will feature the same Hyperlite Matrix Alloy that is said to create an expanded sweet spot and greater durability.
John P.
My son is 11 yo and pretty strong for his age. He's 4'9 and weighs 90 lbs. He used a 28 in Louisville Slugger Assault last year and loved it. We know he needs to move up in size, however would like to know your recommendations. Looking for a comparable alternative to the assault? csc23
Based upon your player's height and weight, we would recommend going with a 30" model of Youth Big Barrel/Senior league bat. This 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) will be a single-piece, all-alloy bat like the Assault; but be end-loaded in its swing weight (the Assault was balanced). As well, this specific XL3 model has a -5 length-to-weight ratio. For an 11 year old player I would be more likely recommend a bat that has a -8 length-to-weight ratio like the SL16X38 model.
Ben
Is this bat legal for Junior Babe Ruth? BUD
Unfortunately, I was not able to determine the exact division of Babe Ruth baseball to which you were referring. If you were referring the 13-15 year old division, then yes, this 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) will be legal for use.
Ben
What's the difference between the SL16X38 and the SL16X35? Alex
The difference between the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 and the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X38 is the drop (or weight) of the bat. The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X38 is a drop 8 while the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a drop 5. Both bats are exactly the same in every respect except for the length to weight ratio.
Cameron
My son is 13 years old, 5' feet tall and 115 pounds (13-15 year old division of Babe Ruth). What size of this bat would you recommend (he previously swung a 31"/19 oz bat)? Wally
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting a 30" model of a Youth Big Barrel/Senior League baseball bat. It may be a bit of an adjustment, but if you feel that your player can handle the end-loaded 25 oz weight of the 30" option of this 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35), then I would recommend getting this bat in the size option.
Ben
End cap on my son's XL3 broke into pieces after he hit a ball on the edge of the barrel and end cap. There is no other structural damage to the barrel, its just the end cap. Can the end cap be purchased or replaced or does the entire bat need to be returned to Easton? Kyle B
This bat would have to be sent back to Easton for replacement as retailers will not carry any of the parts that comprise the bat(s).
Cameron
Is it legal in Little League Juniors? matt
Yes, the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is legal for play in the Juniors division of Little League. The 2 5/8" barrel and USSSA 1.15 BPF certification stamp make it legal for play.
Jason
What size barrel is this bat? brickrick
The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 has a 2 5/8" barrel diameter.
Jason
My son is moving up to the Juniors division and he has been using bats with a long barrel for the past few years (Combat Grifter, Easton XL1) and is looking for a 2 5/8 big barrel bat with a long barrel, which models would you recommend? He is 12 yrs old, 5 foot 4 and 175 lbs. Row
I would recommend checking out the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) if you were looking to get an end loaded aluminum bat. If you would rather have a balanced composite option I would go ahead and check out the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10).
Carter
Is this bat legal for Little League 50/70 play? billy
The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 meets all of the bat requirements for the Little League Intermediate (50/70) division, and therefore is legal for play.
Angelique
My kid is a 7th grader that is 5'7" and weighs 110 lbs. Do you recommend this bat in -5 for him (he has a 32"/24 oz right now)? TLE
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting this 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) in the same 32" length (as his current bat), as long as he can handle the subsequent 27 oz weight (and the end-loaded swing weight). As a 7th grader, I think that moving to a -5 bat is smart so that you can prepare to use the BBCOR (-3) bats that are required in high school.
Ben
Is this bat a drop 3? C Lyle Lowery
No, the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a -5. If you need a -3, you will need to look at the BBCOR bats.
Tori
Since Easton has filed for bankruptcy, is the 12 month warranty still honored? Kelly
The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 features a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty. Even though the parent company that owns Easton has been experiencing some financial issues the Easton brand will not be affected.
Cameron
Is this a big barrel? mike
This 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) features a 2 5/8" barrel diameter which will be considered a big barrel diameter.
Ben
What is the primary difference between this model and the same bat that is a Mako? Jess
This 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) differs from the MAKO because it is a one-piece bat with an all-alloy build. The MAKO is a two-piece bat with an all composite build. However, the 2016 MAKO XL (SL16MK5) and this bat will both feature a similar end-loaded feel.
Ben
My son is 12 and wants a big barrel bat. Can my son play with one of the Senior League Baseball bats in his Youth League? Apon3
As long as your player's league allows use of bats with a 2 5/8" barrel and the USSSA 1.15 stamp, then a bat like this 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) [Senior League and Youth Big Barrel are essentially interchangeable terms]. That being said, I would first recommend checking and making sure that he will enjoy using the -5 length-to-weight ratio that is featured on this Easton XL3 before making the purchase.
Ben
Is this bat legal for play in Babe Ruth? Litty
The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is not BBCOR certified, so if your Babe Ruth league requires BBCOR certfication, this would not be legal.
Logan
What size is recommended for a 5"3, 110 lb 7th grader? Also, how does this bat differ from the 2017 model? NDM13
Based on your player's height and weight, I would suggest the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 in a 31" 26 ounce size. There really isn't much difference between the 2016 and 2017 model other than paint scheme.
Logan
Does this bat have composite or just alloy? Baseball mom
The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a one-piece fully alloy bat with an end loaded swing weight design.
Cameron
Is this bat BBCOR? Baseball Kid13
No, this is not a BBCOR bat. Senior League denotes a category of bats with a barrel diameter of 2 5/8" or 2 3/4" intended for youth players.
Kyle J.
Is this bat allowed to be used for Little League? nikki
The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) is legal once you get to the Intermediate (50/70) Division of Little League.
Carter
Is this legal for high school play? guy boy
No, the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is not legal for high school play.
Sean
My son is 12 and 1/2 yrs old. 5'5". 109 lbs. I see that this is an end loaded bat. What size do you suggest? Martin
i would suggest a 31'' 26 oz 2016 Easton XL3 (SL16X35) for your son.
Max L.
Is this bat all aluminum? Middle school is going to that type, if not what would you suggest in similar price range? Anne
The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a one piece fully aluminum bat.
Logan
What does it mean to be -5, or -6, or -7? Frank
Those number represent the length to weight ratio which is a way of measuring the bats. You take the length of the bat and subtract that number and that gives you the weight of the bat. The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a -5 so if it is a 30" bat, then it would be a 25 oz.
Cooper
I am 5'3, 110 pounds, and 13 years old, is this a good bat for me? blang20
If you have experience swinging end loaded bats, or are a stronger player that wouldn't have trouble with the added swing weight, the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 would be a great bat. If you feel like this end loaded bat would be a good option for you, I would suggest the 31" 26 oz. size.
Logan
I am about 5'9 and 130 lbs. I am now 14 and I was looking for a -5 bat. Is this a good choice? danny
Yes, I would recommend the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 as a great -5 option.
Carter
What is difference in 2016 Easton XL3 and 2016 Mako XL if both are -5 and same length? Ant
Both the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 and the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK5 are end-loaded models. The big difference between the two is the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK5 will be an all composite model with a connection point, allowing this bat to reduce vibration more so on off-centered hits, while the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a one-piece all alloy bat.
Cameron
Does this bat have the rotating handle? Or is that a different bat series. I personally don't like the twisting barrel. And do end loaded bats have more pop than balanced bats? I'm a stronger kid for my age and size and am strongly considering the weight distribution. Hammer
This bat does not having the rotating handle technology. That was implemented in the Torq line of Easton bats. End loaded bats can provide more power due to the added weight in the barrel providing more mass at contact, at the cost of a heavier swing weight. They are suited to power hitters who can handle the added swing weight.
Kyle J.
Just purchased this bat for my 13 yr old son. Can it be used in Little League & travel ball in 2018 with the new rules? Any special stickers needed? baseballmom
The Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 could be used in 2018 for travel ball leagues but would not be allowed in Little League. In 2018 Little League will require the use of a bat featuring the USA Baseball stamp.
Cameron
My son is 14 years old, 5' 3" and 85 pounds. I was wondering what length of bat I should get? He needs a drop 5 this year. Should I get this bat or are there any other suggestions? Joey
I would recommend the Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 in a 30 inch length. The XL3 will feature a one-piece alloy design with an end loaded swing weight. A similar option you could also consider is the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX5 which will feature a similar feel with updated technology.
Dan
Does this bat have the USA stamp on it? mike
This Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) will not feature the USA bat stamp on it. If you wanted a one-piece, all-aluminum bat from Easton with the USA certification and -5 sizing; I would recommend the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18BX5).
Ben
Is this a bbcor bat? Shan D Teague
This Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a USSSA certified -5 baseball bat. It is NOT a BBCOR bat. If you are looking for a BBCOR certified bat you will want to look at a -3 drop weight. You may want to look at something like the Easton Z-CORE HMX BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB16ZA for a one-piece alloy BBCOR bat.
Tyler
Is this bat USA baseball certified? I want to use it for Babe Ruth. Cooper Goodnow
The Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is not USA approved. The equivalent USA model is the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18BX5.
Cameron
My 12 year old is 5'6" and 160 lbs. He is a pretty strong hitter. What would you suggest considering he's comfortable with this model? MrOctobersMom
If your player has had success with this model and drop weight, I would recommend the Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) in a 32"/27 oz size.
Taylor
I was wondering how long the pop stays with this bat? My son is going into his 14u season and needs to transition to a drop 3 next year for high school. Looking at this bat for a year. Thoughts? Benny
Unfortunately it is impossible to say how long the performance of the Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 would last. With your son needing a bat for one more year, it would be very likely this Easton XL3 would last that long.
