Description

For 2016, Easton has brought the most expansive line of power and performance to the market with the all-new Power Brigade Series!

For elite composite performance in the Junior Big Barrel category, look no further than the Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B. This model is specifically engineered for the younger hitter who is still developing their mechanics, and its design is slightly different than the other categories of MAKO. For maximum control of the huge 2 3/4" barrel during the swing, Easton made this model a bit more rigid with its one-piece composite construction. That strong foundation is crafted from the tried and tested IMX Advanced Composite material, so you know this one is ultra-light / balanced and features a very responsive hitting surface. Because this is a Junior Big Barrel design, its barrel walls are extremely thin for maximum trampoline effect, and it's recommended for players ages 8 and under (for the longest useful life possible).

The Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B features a 2 3/4" barrel diameter, -12 length to weight ratio, and the USSSA BPF 1.15 Certification. Amplify Your Power and pick up the Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B today at JustBats.com. The shipping is always free, and we're always here for you - from ClickToHit!

Dinger!!! Bob Donovich parent

Pros: I bought this bat for my son on his birthday. Ever since he smacked it over the 240' left field wall the whole team started using it. After our second tournament when my son drove in the winning run off of a triple and the team chanted his name he came to me and said "BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!!!"

Cons: Little pricy... Worth every penny.

Great bat. Great price. Inchy 19 parent

Pros: Balanced, light and lots of pop. My 6 year old son is hitting the ball really well in practice. Looking forward to seeing him hit in the games when the season starts up.

Cons: Tape on the grip has started to come loose - may need to be regripped.

Nice bat(= Charlie player

Pros: My friend has this bat and he really likes it. I can hit it way into the outfield-easy-I really love it because it has no vibration so I am not afraid to take a swing?

Cons: A little pricy-but it is worth it! Pop isn't perfect but the only bats that I would give a 5-star on the pop are more that double the price!

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Does this particular bat have to be broken in or will it have pop right out of the packaging? I have a son that plays on an 8u travel team. Jermey
The 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB16MK12B) does not necessarily require a break-in process but could benefit from one. It may perform a bit better after about 50-100 swings of soft toss or tee work while rotating the barrel of the bat a quarter turn after every hit.
Patrick
Would you recommend this bat for machine pitch or is designed for coach pitch? buckeye_baseballer
The 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B is best used against the lower velocities of Coach Pitch.
Marcus
Is it Babe Ruth Cobra approved? Cam
The 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB16MK12B) would not be legal for Babe Ruth play because they do not allow a 2 3/4 inch barrel diameter to be used.
Patrick
Should we use this bat in U9 kid pitch. The Senior version is too heavy for my son. PTW
The 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB16MK12B) is a bat designed for coach pitch only as the thin barrel walls on this bat will not hold up with velocity over 35 mph. If the Youth Big Barrel is too heavy, and you are wanting a 2 5/8 or 2 3/4 inch barrel diameter, please give us a call and one of our customer coaches would be happy to help. Our number is 866-321-4568
Cameron
Will this bat hold up in kid pitch leagues? Joe
This 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB16MK12B) is not designed for kid pitch as it risks the chance of becoming defective at velocities over 45 mph.
Ben
For an 8U travel team would you recommend the MAKO Junior Big Barrel or the COMBAT MAXSL112 with -12? hutch
The 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B is recommended for players aged 8 and under that are playing in a coach pitch league. If your player is in a kid pitch league then I would lean towards the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -12 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL112.

What is the difference between the 2016 MAKO as compared to the 2015 MAKO? HardBall Dad
The 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B and the 2015 MAKO are the same bat other than the cosmetic appearance and the grip tape. Otherwise they both feature balanced swing weights and they are made out of IMX composite.
Jason
Is a 2 3/4" composite bat better than a 2 1/4" hybrid (alloy barrel and composite handle) bat? B
A 2 3/4" barrel diameter bat like this 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB16MK12B) will offer more coverage area to fill up more area of the strike zone than the 2 1/4" hybrid bat. However, it would be hard to say one will provide more performance than the the other. There really is no inherent performance advantage to a composite barreled bat or an alloy barreled bat. Overall, I would say that using the bigger barrel model is advantageous to get more coverage of the strike zone.
Ben
Do you have this bat in 28"/16 ounce 2 5/8 barrel? Pat
We do still have the 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B in a 28 inch 16 ounce model.
Cameron
My son is moving to 9-10 (kid pitch) baseball from coach pitch. He currently has an Easton S3JBB 27/17 and an Easton XL1JBB 25/15. This looks like a great deal and was wondering if these bats, as well as the ones I currently own, will perform as well as they have, given the harder pitching. Do I need to look at moving to a YBB instead of the JBB? Tim
Junior Big Barrel bats, like the 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B, are best suited for coach pitch leagues. The reason for this is these types of bats will have thinner barrel walls and, as such, will not hold up well durability wise when velocity meets or exceeds 40 MPH. If moving into kid's pitch, we would suggest moving into a Senior League Bat (Youth Big Barrel is synonymous with Senior League) if you can use a big barrel or a Youth Barrel Bat.
Cameron
My son is 6 and is in his 2nd year of coach pitch. Is the 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat legal in Coach Pitch little league? Coach Dad
Yes, the 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB16MK12B) is legal for Coach Pitch Little League and is a great option.
Carter
What is the weight distribution of the bat? With the larger barrel is it well balanced or is it a little more barrel heavy? Josh
The 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B is going to have a balanced swing weight.
Cooper
How many inches is it and how many oz? Migey
You get to pick the size of the bat when you purchase it. At this point in time (2/5/2017) we only have two sizes left in the 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB16MK12B). We have the 27"/15 ounce and the 28"/16 ounce versions.
Carter
My son is playing 9U travel ball and I would like to purchase him a big barrel bat. He is 4'10" and 60 lbs. What size would you recommend and would you prefer the MAKO -12 or the S2 -10? Hoss
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting a 30 inch bat. You want to get a Senior League model as a bat like the 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B has thin barrel walls and is designed for coach pitch leagues seeing velocity under 40 MPHs. As for the weight to get, this is more determined on the weight of the bat they are currently using and how well they are handling this weight. Would recommend consulting with a local coach or hitting instructor to gain feedback on weight.
Cameron

The 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB16MK12B) is a Junior Big Barrel Bat. It is designed for Coach Pitch and players 8 and under.
Carter
My son is playing baseball for the first time, it's going to be coach pitch and he's 5 years old. What size bat do I need to get him if I were going to order one of these? Jay Bird
At his age, I would suggest the 27" 15 ounce 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B.
Logan
What is the difference between this bat and the 2017 Mako Beast JBB? Corey Sikes
The 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB16MK12B and the 2017 Mako Beast are really the same bat other than the cosmetics. They are both made out of the same IMX advanced composite.
Jason
Does this bat need to be broke in? E Ray
To properly break in the 2016 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB16MK12B), we recommend taking 150-200 swings playing soft toss or off a tee using real baseballs. Begin swinging at 40% power and work our way up to full strength as you get closer to 200 swings.
Carter
