Pros: Great Bat. My 8 year old had to move to this since the composites are not legal in our league anymore and this bat is better that what he was using. 28in 18oz is perfect for him. The ball is jumping off the bat. We've ordered 3 bats from this company and all of them have been at our door 2 days after the order and we selected 5 day shipping. This website rules!!!!

Pros: USSSA bat for 2012, the bat shows the stamp. Solid hits with this bat. Bat has a nice sweet spot on it. Plus the bat looks good.

Cons: Go with a lighter bat if you weigh less than 115 lbs. You need to be fast and strong to swing this bat, it's a drop -10.

Pros: Got this bat for my 7 year old he is 4'6 so we got the 29". It has good pop a solid sound to it too. I chose this bat because it is his first season playing and liked the durability reported by other posters. Also the customer service staff recommended it. Compared it to the Rival and Worth Lithium. So far with almost daily BP/soft toss/lessons and even a little bit of machine pitch usage, not a single dent. We have had this for a couple of months. He is very happy with it.

Pros: We bought this bat for my 4'2, 65lb son. He has always been a hitter BUT the power of this sweet spot and the drive my 7yo put behind this bat is killer. We purchased 02/12, now 04/12 there are a few marks from balls(to be expected). This bat is superb. HAPPY WITH OUR PURCHASE. Our son is happy as well.

Yes, the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: SL126 Senior League bat is legal for play in 2012 in leagues that allow the specifications of this bat. The TPX Omaha SL126 has the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp.
Brett
How long might this bat last? $loh
There's really no set lifespan for any bat. It depends on how many people use the bat and how often it is used. This is a pretty durable bat and if it is used as an individual bat (not a team bat), and you limit its use in batting cages then it should last over a year. If something does go wrong with the bat within the first year, it is covered under the manufacturer's warranty through Louisville Slugger.
JH
Will the 2011 version of this bat be leagal next spring, 2012, even though it doesn't have the "USSSA" stamp on it? T-Dog
In USSSA for 2012, bats will have to have the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp. Some bats may be grandfathered into the league, so you may want to check with the league director for clarification.
Brett
Is this bat allowed to use in the minor league (12 year old and under)? dc
If your league allows 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter bats and needs a USSSA stamp, then the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: SL126 Senior League bat will meet those requirements. However, for rules regarding your specific league I would conatact your local league official for verification.
Kara
Other than the barrel size, 2 5/8" vs 2 3/4", is there much difference between the SL126 and the YB126BB? Is it more/less forgiving with more/less pop? Stu
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB126BB Junior Big Barrel bat has a bigger barrel size, but is designed to only be used in coach pitch, not kid pitch nor machine pitch. Junior Big Barrel bats are not rated to be used against pitches over 40 mph. the SL126 is a more durable bat. The SL126XL is more comparable to the SL126 and the SL126XL has a 2 3/4" barrel diameter.
Kara
What is the difference between the SL126 and the SL126XL? polaras12

The Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst is a one-piece composite bat and the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: SL126 Senior League bat is a one-piece alloy bat. Both have nice balance and great pop. The Catalyst, being composite will require a break-in period, but worth the effort. The TPX Omaha is hot out of the wrapper.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
