Description

Back with an impressive new design and mind-blowing new graphics, the Voodoo is THE lightweight option for youth players this season! The Voodoo's supremacy begins at the handle where DeMarini introduces a new composite material this season called TR3 Strut Composite. With TR3, DeMarini seeks to replicate the triangular structure of a crystal, as that is what helps make crystals one of the toughest and most stable compounds on earth. TR3 Composite is strong, stable, and predictable - without any unnecessary weight. This handle is designed to efficiently transfer power from your hands to the barrel giving players balance and consistency with every swing. The barrel of the Voodoo is constructed with DeMarini's SC4 Alloy. This alloy provides a thickness tuned wall that extends the entire length of the barrel contributing to a wickedly hot and insanely durable sweetspot! The Voodoo also features Half and Half Technology that redistributes weight to give the bat optimal balance. This is extremely beneficial to younger players as it gives them the ability to swing faster with less effort; ultimately resulting in more power! DeMarini: Insane Dedication to Performance! The Voodoo is approved for play in all major youth leagues. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: A very "balanced" bat! Equivalent to the "Surge" as far as weight distribution is concerned. In no way is it "End Loaded" Has an excellent "Pop". Very pleased with this bat as far as performance is concerned. Your kid will not be disappointed if a balanced bat is what your looking for

Cons: Graphics is "Sick" looking may not want you to swing it! Best looking bat by far!

Pros: Bought this bat (29"/16oz) as a gift for my son who already has a (28"/15oz)2011 Voodoo and I could tell a difference right away. First thing I noticed was that this bat sounds like a fire cracker but the best part is that it isn't all bark he is hitting it noticeably further. His coaches couldn't help but say wow at the next practice at how well and far he was driving the ball. Worth every penny!

Cons: none yet, aside from the other boys wanting to use it.

Future LSU dad

Pros: I just bought the 28"-15 oz for my 6.5 year old son. He has always hit the ball hard but it seemed like the ball should jump off his old bat better. The new voo doo has given him that extra pop! His line drives are rockets and the pop ups carry further too. This is my first review ever! I had to pass the word to another dad. I know the bat doesn't make the batter but it makes them better!!

Cons: NONE so far. Great bat!

Pros: Light and well balanced, with big sweet spot and pop. Stepped up from Louisville Slugger Omaha for my 8-year old son and noticed immediate difference in both batting practice and games. Ball sounds great off the bat and travels farther, and bat looks great as well. Spend the extra money and get the voodoo; you won't be disappointed.

Cons: None. Wish I would have bought this bat sooner.

Pros: I recently purchased this bat for my 10yr old son and he loves it. I took him out to the batting cages the day after he received & right out of the box he was hitting as if he had had it for quite a while. He said he loves this more than the new CF5. Great service as well!!!!

Cons: None, except that this bat is so nice looking he didn't want to use it at first.

Pros: Bought 29/16 bat to help my son improve his bat speed. ( He was using a 30/18 big barrel. Too long & heavy) Immediately we saw an improvement in his swing speed. Not behind the ball anymore. Have only used it in batting cages. Can't wait to see it in a game. Great ping sound! Cool graphics!

Cons: A little pricey

Pros: Got this bat for my son who is a small 9 year old. I purchased the 29/16 model after last years 28/15 wasn't heavy enough to work through the harder thrown balls. this years version has more pop than last years model and really rewards the contact hitter with a harder hit ball. Even when he's faced faster pitching, the line drives are hit over the inf's head instead of at them, the ground balls have more sizzle and are harder to field, and even when he mis-hits and pops it up, it goes farther and higher. If you have a smallish kid or averaged size kid who has a beautiful swing, BUY THIS BAT! It's worth every penny. If your kid is bigger than most and is a power hitter, I would recommend a bat with a lower drop. (-11 or -10)

Cons: None

HAWAII VOODOO BUILT

Pros: This Bat by Far is worth every dollar, we bought the bat because of the -13 /29 . Weight distribution is great and the bat has a nice sweet spot. You will not regret buying the Voodoo , The composite material on the handle doesn't give my son that "shock" effect when hitting those inside and outside pitches!! He loves it and so does the rest of the team!!!

Cons: My son doesn't get called by his first name anymore. They call him the "VOODOO!"

Pros: 9 Y/O son loved the look and feel of the bat.

Cons: The bat split after a few days of regular use. He had 2 practices, 1 hour of BP, and 1 game - and he then realized that the bat was split with the center of the split being between the top of the handle and bottom of the barrel. Very disappointed in this product with the amount of money spent. Read other reviews of possible DeMarini bats splitting and chose to hope it wouldn't happen. I strongly advise to stay away from this bat and other DeMarini bats until they figure out what the problem is and rectify it.

You wont believe it until you swing this bad boy for yourself. Its worth every penny. DeMarini does it again.

Cons: None. Well maybe that every kid on the team wants to use it..and maybe that the paint is so wicked i hate to scratch it.

Pros: Wicked looking bat. Immediately gave my son extra confidence when he held it. Very balanced and lightweight which helped my son's bat speed. Ready to go out of the box but seemed really seasoned after a couple of weeks. He is 8 years old, tall for his age but not very strong or would have gotten the big barrel option. Chose the 30" length due to his height. Has held up really good so far. Definitely recommend highly.

Cons: Almost too good looking to use.

Cons: 2 out of ten times youll make solid contact and when you dont its a little dribbler also it wont last ive had it for 6 months and its already chipping and cracking i reccomend the cf5. its alittle pricey compared to voodoo but its worth it also if you want a -13 get the surge, s2,s3, or even a reflex

Pros: I have used Voodoo bats for a few years now and it is great for contact hitting. It is also very light therefore good for someone trying to get a faster swing speed. The design is sweet and intimidating.

Pros: Both my sons used this bat this bat this year. One a 30" and one a 28". Both of them loved the bats. So did some of their other teamates. Both improved the consistency of their hitting this year, especially my older son. I believe the bat helped with that along with confidence. Would recommend this bat. Ordered the 31" for my older son rather then the 2013 because he liked it so much.

Cons: Top plastic coating on the top of the barrel of bat wore off fairly easily. Not a big deal but could have been more durable.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Voodoo -13 Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is it approved by Little League Junior Division? tony
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo has an alloy barrel along with the approved Little League stamp on the barrel. It is legal for Little League.
John
I'm looking at the comparison between the DeMarini DXVDL Youth and the Combat Grifter Youth -12 bat. Trying to make a decision which one would you suggest my son is 8 years old he is about 56" tall and weighs about 73lbs which bat would be more balanced for him right now he has the DeMarini Vexxum it is a 29" bat with a 13.5 drop. Tyson
Based on your son's height and weight, a 30" bat would be recommended. I think moving up to a 30" 17oz. bat would be beneficial for your son and the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo would be an excellent choice. The 30" COMBAT Grifter will be an ounce heavier than the 30" Voodoo. I would recommend going to a local sporting goods store and have him take some swings with bats of different weights to see what he is more comfortable with.
Bodie
My grandson is 67" tall and 120 lbs. What bat size would you recommend? JDAM
Based on his height and weight, a 31" 21oz. 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is typically recommended. If he's a lot stronger than average, he could probably go up to a 31 inch 23 ounce bat.
Brett
My son is 8 and only weighs 55 lbs, but strong for his size. He currently uses an Omaha big barrel 27" -11 alloy that is not end loaded. He is playing in a few tournaments that will not allow the big barrel and will move to Little League next year that will not allow it. He is a line drive hitter and gets the 16 oz bat through the ball quick. I am trying to find the right fit for him but there are so many bats with good reviews that making a choice is difficult. I have narrowed my search to Voodoo, CAT5 and Omaha YB126. Which do you think has the most pop and will be useable through next year? Nixon
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo will have the most pop out of all these bats and will have the best durability. The 2012 Voodoo will also be eligible for use next year.
Brett
My son is 11 and weighs 125-130 lbs. He has a 30 inch 19 ounce bat now, but thinks he needs a longer bat. What should I get? mom
This is a great link that we have that helps decide what type of bat someone should get and what length and weight they should use; http://www.justbats.com/bat.wizard.aspx. The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo would be a good choice.
Brett
Could this bat break when you hit the ball? krausy.96
I haven't heard of any issues with the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo to date concerning durability. If you do have any issues, you have a one-year manufacturers warranty from DeMarini.
JH
My son is 12 years old and has been swinging a 31" 22 oz. bat in games and practice. Want to buy him a new bat and would like to know what is a good bat that should be legal for next year. Should I purchase a Youth or Senior League bat. I was thinking about a 32" 19 oz. for coverage of the plate and good bat speed. Your help and advice will be greatly appreciated. Topcat
For a 12 year old I would go with a big barrel bat. He will have to use a big barrel bat in high school and he should start using them now. With a big barrel bat, you will have to have a -10 bat. All of out bats that have the 1.15 BPF and USSSA stamp on them will be legal for play this year. All of those bats will have that identified in the bullet points section.
Brett
Is this a big barrel? JSALLDAY
No, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is a small barrel (2 1/4 inch) bat. If you need a big barrel, look under "Youth Big Barrel" or "Senior League".
JH
How cold does it have to be to use it? Etrain
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is an aluminum barrel bat, so there is not going to be a certain temperature that you have to use this bat. Composite barrel bats are not supposed to be used under 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit.
Brett
My son wants to use this for USSSA tournaments but the bat does not have an easily identifiable 1.15 BPF USSSA stamp. What are the chances that he can use this in a USSSA tournament? Emaz
Small barrel youth bats will not require a USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp until 2014. There are not youth bats on the market yet that have the stamp. Since it's only 2011, he will be able to use the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo in a USSSA tournament with no issues.
Brett
My son is 8 years old and is 53" tall and 62 lbs. He currently swings a 28" 16 oz. H2 YB9H2 and was looking for something with more pop. I was deciding between the 2011 Vendetta and this Voodoo. Which would you recommend and why? Thanks! J
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is going to have more pop then the 2011 DeMarini Vendetta. This bat also going to have better durability. I would go with the Voodoo over the Vexxum.
Todd
Would you buy the Voodoo or Easton Surge for 7 year old coach pitch very good bat on ball hitter? (28"15oz) lsu jeff
If your son is playing coach pitch, I would recommend a Jr. Big Barrel bat. They are designed specifically for coach pitch leagues. http://www.justbats.com/products/baseball%20bats~junior%20big%20barrel/
Kris
My son is 4'4" and weighs 67 lbs. He is 8. What length and weight is good for him? MIKE
Based on his height and weight, a 28" 2012 DeMarini Voodoo would be the most common size. The weight really depends on how strong he is and what size bat he is currently using, but the average weight will be between 15 and 18 ounces.
John
My son is 10, 4'10" and 90 pounds. What bat length do you recommend? Also, Voodoo, Easton Surge, or Easton Omen? jwej10
With a very specific question like this you may want to contact us directly at 1-866-321-2287.
John
28 in 15 oz, is it to heavy for my son? He is 4'1 52 lbs. butch
For a player of his size the average size 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is either a 28" 15oz or a 28" 16oz bat.
Mark
Does this bat comply with new USSSA rules? Jimmy
In our current inventory of the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo the 30" 17oz. does have the new USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp and the 31" 18oz. and 32" 19oz. do not.
Brett
My son is 8 years old. He is 54" and about 65 pounds. What bat would you recommend? chad
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is a great bat. There are numerous that would be good bats for him. If you have any questions, and need more info, just give our reps a call at 866-321-2287.
lkh
I have a question on what size bat I would get my son who is 49 1/2" and 79 lbs? Brenda
Based on his height and weight, I would suggest the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo that is 29" 16 oz.
Kara
Does this bat come in a Big Barrel for Youth and if so what are the drop choices? Mundo
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo does come in a big barrel option, the drop options are a -5 and a -9.
Sean
CF5 Vs. Voodoo. Looking at the 30 inch for a 54" 85lb good hitter. My son played with the Voodoo last 2 years. Always looking for more pop. What do you think? Joe
The DeMarini CF5 is a full composite design whereas the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo has an alloy barrel. The CF5 is going to have more pop than the Voodoo.
Sean
Hello. Does this bat comply with the new 2012 USSSA Bat Standards and have the new USSSA Mark? Thank you. Razz
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is compliant with the USSSA 1.15 BPF.

Is it BBCOR? Chase#18
No, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is not BBCOR. BBCOR bats will be Adult bats that are -3. Here is a link to the BBCOR Voodoo: http://www.justbats.com/product/2013-demarini-voodoo-bbcor--dxvdc-adult/15470/
KG
My son has outgrown his Vexxum. He is 61 inches and a thick 125. How far up should he go? The last bat was a 30/17.5 oz. James
I suggest looking at a 31"-32" 2012 DeMarini Voodoo for him. Try using our bat coach to find the perfect bat. http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
KG
Is there a difference between the 2012/2011/2010 DXVDL Voodoo Youth? Lou
There are slight differences between the 2012, 2011, and 2010 DeMarini Voodoo because of the rule chances in the last few years. However, the two-piece composite handle/alloy barrel design is the same.
Linda
Does it have the USSSA 1.15 stamp? Ton1971
In our current inventory of the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo the 30" 17oz. does have the new USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp and the 31" 18oz. and 32" 19oz. do not.
Derek
Does the bat have the BPF 1.15 stamp on it? According to the new Babe Ruth bat rules 11-23-11 as long as it has BPF 1.15, 33 inches or less and 2.25 barrel size it is approved for 2012. ryno
In our current inventory of the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo the 30" 17oz. does have the new USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp and the 31" 18oz. and 32" 19oz. do not.
Todd
Is it USSSA certified? Roo
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is USSSA certified.
Linda
Recently purchased a 2010 model for my son. He hasn't used it yet and I'm wondering if I should chalk up the extra money to buy the newer version. Is it significantly better? RD
My peronal opinion would be to do that. The reason for that is the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo has the newest required stamp for the USSSA 1.15 BPF.
Linda
Trying to pick between Easton Omen LNC1XL Youth 28" 16 oz and the DeMarini Voodoo DXVDL Youth 28"15 oz for 9 year old 4 ft 60 pounds. How are they different which has more pop? Roger
The difference between the two are that the Easton Omen is a two-piece full composite design and 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is a two-piece composite handle and alloy barrel. They both are going to have a lot of pop.
Sean
Does this meet the new 2012 USSSA bat requirements? Todd
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo does meet the 2012 USSSA bat requirements.
Sean
Son is 4'6" 80 lbs. Currently using Easton Omen 29" -12. Thinking about this bat or CF5 in 30" but big weight difference. He is a line drive hitter. Tony
If you want one that is very nicely balanced for him with the weight jump. The Easton S2 would be the one I would look at.
Linda
My son is 8 and is 120 pounds and about 4 foot 5. I dont know what to get, the 19 or the 20 oz bat? He been using a 21 oz 5 and a quarter bat and does not have a problem but I think it's because of the bigger barrel. Help please. Paul
I would suggest getting the 20 oz bat. If he has been hitting a big barrel bat he should have no problem with a 20 oz weight.
KG
My son is 52" 9 years old and weighs 52 lbs. He currently has a 28" 14.5 ounce. I was thinking going up to 29" 16 ounce Voodoo. What would you recommend? Lefty Lou
Based on his height and weight, I would move him up to a 29" 16oz. 2012 DeMarini Voodoo.
Kara
My son is 7 years old he is 53" tall and weighs 62 lbs. I was wondering what would be the best bat for him for next spring? This is first year for coach pitch. Buckeyes918
Normally, coach pitch bats are 2 5/8" to 2 3/4" bats and are labeled Junior Big Barrel. I would suggest a 28" to 29" lenth for your son.
Kara
Is the Voodoo -13 bat 2012 Cal Ripken approved (BPF 1.15)? Rick
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo does have the original USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp on it.
Linda
My son is 5'0 and 110lbs. He will be 10 in March. What bat do you suggest for him? Thanks. Carcoop
If he is required to use the youth small barrel, with his size, I would not go lighter than a -10. And length wise, he should be in about a 30"-31". As to what bat to recommend, I would need to know more info about your son, power hitter or contact? What kind of bat has he been using and how did he like it? Those bits of info would help make a better suggestion for him.
Linda
Is this bat 1.15 BPF or USSSA approved? batboy
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is USSSA 1.15 BPF certified.
Linda
Is a 2012 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDL a good bat for 10 year old? that is 60"tall and 80 lbs? crusher
If his league requires the 2 1/4" barrel, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is an excellent choice. Great pop, it is slightly end weighted, which gives power through the swing.
Linda
My son is 5'6" 180 solid muscle. He will be playing middle school ball this year (7th grade) he has long arms, what size bat do you suggest? Byg Mykes Mom
A good size for that size of player will be a 31"-32" bat.
KG
Is this bat approved for 2012 Majors in Little League, Babe Ruth, Cal Ripken? pc
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is approved for Cal Ripken.
Kara
Comparing this Voodoo to the Easton S2 or S3. Son is 4ft 7, 65 pounds, 10 yrs old. Has really fast hands, so I want a fast bat, without the sting (his last bat was bad at that). Thoughts? Is there a better bat than those? noplay
Both the Easton S2 and the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo are great two-piece bats that are going to have great bat speed with some flex. The Easton S3 is a one-piece bat and a little stiffer and better for a power hitter.
K.B.
My son is 4'8" tall and 91lbs, I was thinking about getting him a 31/18 Voodoo. He currently has an Easton CXN 29/17. Does this sound like a good bat for him? I would like to get him a composite bat but we live in the NW and more than 1/2 his season is cold weather. RRRRR
Alloy sounds like it may be the way to go, and 31" 18oz. is not too big of a jump and would seem suit your son fine.
Shelbe
My son is 60 inches tall 120 pounds 9 years old. He is a power hitter which bat would be better DXVDL youth or CF4 youth? scott
Most power hitters prefer stiffer bats, but for his height and weight, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo would be good.
K.B.
Is it approved for Dixie Youth? Abrown
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is approved for Dixie Youth.
Linda
Not too sure what size bat my should be using. He has the Easton Omen now. 28" 16oz. He is 8 and turning 9 in August. He's 58" tall and about 50lbs. bob
General rule of thumb is you don't want to bump them up more than 1 inch or 1 ounce at a time. If you are looking to move him up, I wouldn't recommend going higher than a 29".
Linda
My son is 10 years old and weighs 88, and is 58 inches tall. What weight and length bat do you recommend? Any specific types? Was looking at the DeMarini Voodoo and the DeMarini CFX (I think that's what it was). dpostiglione
Using the Bat Coach feature on our website I would suggest a 29" bat. Any bat that has a length to weight ratio of -10 would fit your son well.
Shelbe
Does the bat come in 2 5/8 or 2 3/4 barrel? doc
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo bat is only offered in a 2 1/4" barrel
Sean
Is this bat stamped with the 1.15 BPF rating thats requred for Dizzy Dean Play? Brandon
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo does not have the USSSA stamp on the bat but it is marked BPF 1.15 on the barrel.
John
Is this a non composite bat? I know it says it is okay for Babe Ruth. Which is good because i have a son that plays there but what about Cal Ripken? distressed
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is going to have a composite handle and an alloy barrel. It is Cal Ripken approved.
John
Hello. My son is 51" and 65 lbs, which size would you go with? Thanks. kj
I would suggest a 2012 DeMarini Voodoo 28" 15oz.
Ryan
My son is 60" tall, 95 lbs, 11 years old. He's been hitting the 30/17 Voodoo. Would the 31/18 be appropriate for his size? JM
Yes, you want to make sure that you move them up in size as they get older.
Ryan
I'm interested in purchasing this bat for my 9 y/o son who is 59" tall and weighs 68.5 lbs. What size bat would you recommend? Is this bat approved to be used in the minors division even though it isn't on the list of licensed bats through the little league web site? Thanks!!! Barba951
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo bat is approved by Little League, but we recommend checking with a league offical on any circumstance before purchasing.
John
My son is 7 now but last year used the 28 in 16 oz Voodoo model. His swing was always slow. At the end of the season I got him a batting lesson and they said it was too big for him. Do you think the bat I have would be good for him this year? He is 7 yrs old 54 inches tall and weighs about 55 lbs. john
This is a common size and should fit him better this year. The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is a good bat and has good pop.
KG
For big barrel, is it legal for the new AAU rule? bobster
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo has a small barrel, 2 1/4". Please check with your league official for your bat rules.
KG
My son is 9 years old and his height is 53". He weighs 71 lbs. Would you recommend the 2012 Voodoo and what size...29 or 30? Thanks Bear
It depends on what your son used last year, usually hitters progress one inch or ounce per season.
Shelbe
Thanks for the quick response!!! What size bat would you recommend for my 9 y/o who is 59" tall and weighs 68.5 lbs? Thanks!!! Barba951
Our Bat Coach suggests a 29 inch bat, but you can go one inch either way on that.
Shelbe
What would you reccomend for my son? He is 12 and is 5 foot and 92 pounds? Pops
I would recommend the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo in a 31" 18 oz .

The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is approved for little league play in 2012.
Brad
Which bat is better the Voodoo or the B4? psimps
It will really depend on the type of hitter you are. The B4 will be better for a power hitter and the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is better for a contact hitter.
Kara
Do you think this bat will be approved for all the leagues next year? psimps
As of right now, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is approved for Little League play in 2012. Unless the rules change, this bat will remain approved.
Jennifer
Does this bat have the sticker or whatever it needs to be legal? caleb
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is approved for play in Approved for Play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and USSSA. For more information about youth bats feel free to pick the brains of our experts at 1-866-321-2287.
Shelbe
When you say the Voodoo is better for a contact hitter what do you mean? Bigger sweet spot with the Voodoo? smooth
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is good for contact hitters because it is a two-piece design. A two-piece design is good for contact hitters because it has more flex than a one-piece and will create a whip like effect for the hitter, thus helping them generate power. Whereas a one-piece design is going to be pretty stiff and help power hitters.
Jennifer
Is it legal to use in JBO? Is it BPF 1.5 and BBCOR aproved? Mclovin'
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo has the BPF 1.15. However, only adult bats are BBCOR certified.

As of 2/26/2012, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo does not have the new USSSA stamp that will be required on youth bats beginning in 2013.
Tyler
Is there any break in needed with this bat? BD23
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo has an alloy barrel and a break-in is not necessary.
Tyler
I'm hearing that the bat is not legal because it does not have the BBCOR stamp is this true? christina
That is not true in any way. Youth bats like the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo are not governed by the BBCOR standard, only adult bats. This bat is legal.
Tyler
Our league requires a 1.15 stamp. Does this comply? Stealth
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo bat does not have the new USSSA stamp and has the old "Meets 1.15BPF USSSA" on the barrel.
Kris
Our Dixie Youth requires the year model be stamped on the barrel. Is it stamped on this one? stacey
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo will say "VDL12" on the barrel. The 12 indicates it is a 2012 model. This is how DeMarini indicates the model's year
Tyler
Is this bat legal in a league that requires that 1.15 bpf stamp on the barrel? chop
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo bat is still legal for 2012. USSSA is not requiring the new BPF 1.15 stamp on youth small barrel bats until 2013.
Tyler
Is this bat a full composite? steve
No, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is a two-piece hybrid with an SC4 alloy barrel and a composite handle making this bat a half and half design allowing for a well balanced feel.
Kris
Do you know why this bat is not listed on the approved Little League list of bats from February 23 2012? I could not find this bat listed as approved. I'm hesitant to buy this bat. Again, do you know why it wouldn't be on LL approved list? Sid
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo bat has an alloy barrel and is 100% legal for Little League play. You may be looking at the "Approved Composite Bat List" which will not feature the Voodoo because it has an alloy hitting surface.
Tyler
My son is 8 and weighs about 85lbs. What size Voodoo bat would be good for him? Sean
Based on his age and weight, we recommend the 29" 16 oz.
Kara
Does the NIke MC2 Youth have more pop or the Voodoo? Sean
Since both the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo and Nike MC2 are two-piece hybrid designs with alloy barrels, they will have a similar performance. Both are durable and have good pop. You can't really go wrong with either!
Jennifer
What do the numbers and symbols on the end cap mean 1, 3, 5, 7,? 30" -13 voodoo big daddy
This is DeMarini's Rotation Index. It is designed as a reminder for the hitter to rotate the bat between each hit in order to evenly break in the entire barrel of the bat. Before every hit, take notice of which section of the Index is facing you prior to taking a swing. After every hit, rotate the bat so that the next section of the Index if facing you.
Tyler

Kara
My son is presently using a 29" 20oz Limb Saver. He just turned 9. Weighs 105 and is 4'-8" tall. Not heavy set, just built like a brick. So a tall 9 year old. I was looking at the Voodoo 31" 18 oz. Thoughts? Feel he needs something longer, but worried about too much bat weight. B3
Based on your son's height and weight, the suggested size for him is a 30" bat. However, if he feels comfortable swinging a 31", he could certainly go with that size as well. The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is a great bat and should be a good option for your son.
Jennifer
Is it approved for Little League? Logman
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo DXVDL is 100% legal for Little League.
Tyler

My son is taking batting lessons. The instructor has said a 31" 19 oz bat is perfect for him but the Voodoo doesn't seem to be available in that size. Any suggestions? jim
The DeMarini Voodoo Youth DXVDL is a -13. If you want him to use a 31" bat, he'll need to swing an 18 oz. bat. If you prefer to stay at 19 oz., he'll need to swing a 32" Voodoo. You can also use the "Shop By Bat Size" tool on the left side of JustBats.Com to find all the available 31" 19 oz. bats.
Derek H.
Will this bat be leagal for the 2014 season? batlooking
Unless there are rule changes, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDL Youth will be legal for play in 2014.
Zach
Most leagues require the USSSA thumb print on the bat. This one only says it's legal but doesn't have the thumb print. rusty
You are correct. The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDL Youth does not have the new USSSA stamp on it. Instead, this bat still has the old one. Youth bats do not need to have the new USSSA stamp until 2014.
Jennifer
My son is 13 and plays 13u select baseball. He is headed to high school next fall. i know he needs a 32" length. I am not sure what weight? eddie
If you are wanting to buy a 2012 DeMarini Voodoo that your son can use in high school, you'll want to buy an Adult -3 BBCOR bat. Here is the link to the Voodoo BBCOR: http://www.justbats.com/product/2012-demarini-voodoo-bbcor--dxvdc-adult/13531/
Derek H.
I recently bought a batting cage and this bat for my son. I was wondering if their is a problem with using the yellow dipple batting cage balls with this bat in the cage? What do you suggest? Pando
We do not recommend using your 2012 DeMarini Voodoo in a batting cage that uses dimpled cage balls. They are very dense and, with repeated use, can damage the Voodoo's alloy barrel and shorten its lifespan. We recommend using real baseballs in your pitching machine or a bat dedicated only to cage work.
Anonymous
is this a balanced or end loaded bat? paula
The DXVDL is a balanced bat. It has a 2 1/4" barrel size and a great amount of pop.
Sean
My son is on a travel baseball league and he tried a Vendetta from 2010 that is 31/18 -13 with the bigger long barrell. He hits excellent with that but I can not find it anywhere. I'm trying to find a comperable bat to that one, what would you recommend? tracy
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo would be very comparable to the 2010 Vendetta.
Kara
A notice that the 2012 Voodoo is not BBCOR certified, but the 2013 Voodoo is. Does the BBCOR affect the amount of "pop" the bat will have? If so, which will have more pop, 2012 or 2013? derek
Since this 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is a youth bat, neither the 2012 or 2013 model is BBCOR Certified (which is only for adult bats). The only major difference between the 2012 and 2013 is the change from SC4 Alloy to X10 Alloy on the barrel. You might see a slight increase in pop in the newer version, but the pop on the Voodoo is very similar year to year.
Patrick
Are you allowed to use this bat in non composite leagues? ralph
You will need to ask your coach or league director that question. The Voodoo has an alloy barrel and is traditionally allowed in leagues that have banned composite bats. However, rules vary league by league and you need to ask your coach that question.
Tyler
Would you reccomend this bat for Pony League or should I purchase a big barrel for Pony? john
Big barrel bats tend to have a slightly larger sweet spot. We recommend using a big barrel bat if your league allows them.
Kara
Where is the best place to hit the ball on the 2012 Voodoo youth bat, the best sweet spot? I heard it was under the teeth of the skull head? jag
The best place to hit the ball on the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo is right on the teeth of the skull, maybe a little bit underneath.
Nick K.
I recently brought this bat for my son. I did not know about the rotation index and did not get him to rotate. It seem to be vibrating more now. Have we ruined the bat? Can we just begin rotate now and it will be ok? Scott B
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo does not require a break-in period because it has an alloy barrel. Only composite barrel bats require a break-in period. If your bat continues to have vibration you may contact the manufacture for a one time warranty replacement.
Kara
Should I get the Voodoo or the TPX EXOGRID2? price
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo and the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 are both high performing bats with a lot of pop. The Voodoo is good for a contact type hitter because it is two-piece and the EXOGRID2 is better for a power type hitter since it is a one-piece.
Nick K.

Does DeMarini make a 28/18 in the Voodoo bat? The reviews looked great. daw

Kara
My son is 9 years old and we're looking for a 29" bat. He tested this one and when he swung it, it spun him around. Is that the build of this bat or does he need a lighter bat? Currently he uses a 28" -12. S
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo will have a slight end load feel so the bat will be more weighted towards the end of the barrel.
Tom
My 8yr old used 27/17 for summer.....now we're staring fall ball I wanted to jump him up to the 30/17 voodoo.....is that to much to soon?.....he's 54" and 64 lbs Baseball Dad
Based on your son's height and weight, a 29" or 30" bat is recommended with a weight between 17 and 19 ounces. It's completely normal (and recommended) to get a larger size bat with every new purchase.
Tyler
Is going from big barrel to small barrel hard to do is their difference in fell to bats? Jake
Going from a big barrel bat to a small barrel bat is a more difficult transition than going from a small barrel to big barrel. Small barrel youth bats have less surface area for contact, making it difficult when you're used to using a big barrel bat. Youth bats come in lighter weights as well.
Tyler
Are these both big barreled? RosBoss23
The DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDL is a small 21/4" barrel. The lightest big barrel Voodoo is the DXVDR.
Tom
My grandson is 11 be 12 in Jan and is 5 1 and 92 lbs. What size do you recommend? He has asked for one for Christmas for next year. gaye
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 31" bat.
Kara
My son is 83lbs, 4'7" tall what size voodoo do you recomend? Freddie
Based on his size, a 29" Voodoo would be recommended.
Tyler
Whats the numbers on the end cap for? Should I be adjusting it? Also, is the inside of the barrel composite? BTW, son loves this bat! Don
This the Rotation Index - to remind players to rotate their bat so players don't make contact on the same exact spot on the bat every hit. The inside of the barrel on the Voodoo is not composite. Just the handle is composite.
Tyer
Is this bat Approved for little league play in 2013? Bill

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
