Description

The Half and Half bat that put DeMarini on the map returns this season and it's as mean as ever! Players have been crushing the ball for years with their DeMarini Vexxum due to its heavy-hitting, high-quality design. The Vexxum's power starts with the C6 Composite handle that has a wider weave and stiff feel for the powerful feel you desire while still maintaining a light swing weight. Joined to the C6 handle is an aluminum barrel constructed from DeMarini's new X10 Alloy. X10 features a proprietary blend of alloy agents and is finely tuned to give the Vexxum the thinnest, lightest, and strongest barrel walls possible. Its Longbarrel design gives the Vexxum the largest possible hitting surface so that players can do the maximum amount of damage swinging the bat. The sweetspot on the X10 Alloy Longbarrel is enhanced through the use of Half and Half technology that provides a burst of ball-launching energy every time contact is made. The end result of this design is MAD POP. Taper Ring Technology is also added to the Vexxum to achieve BBCOR standards WITHOUT blocking the sweetspot! The Vexxum is then topped off with an N2M End Cap that is scientifically tuned to absorb vibration so that players can swing away and never be slowed down. DeMarini: Born Hardcore! The Vexxum is BBCOR Certified and legal for high school and collegiate play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: This bat has an amazing feel and a great pop. I was in a sort of a slump and when I took this up to the plate a batted 100% that day! This is the best bat I've used ever.

Cons: A little end heavy for power hitters. Run a little heavy so if ur a small guy like me and you use a 32, try the 31

Bud

Pros: Got this for my son, he's 13, got the 32.5" size. He likes it a lot. He says it feels good. The first bat came in with a defect. It looked like a cut-off wheel bumped the head before the graphics were applied. Www.justbats.com was on top of it with a new bat delivered the next day. The customer service doesn't get any better than that. So far the ball has been flying off of the bat. Monster hits dropping near the fence with me soft tossing to him. I can't wait to see where they go when the pitches start coming in.

Cons: Other than the defect at delivery, the new bat was perfect.

Pros: This is a great bat. Balanced and with a large sweet spot. With the 2013 model, DeMarini has worked through the issues which plagued the early BBCOR bats.

Cons: If you can't hit with the 2013 Vexxum, you can no longer use the "it's a BBCOR bat" excuse.

2013 The Year The Pop Came Back Two Seam coach

Pros: A great bat. Being in California, an early BBCOR adopter, we had to endure the early BBCOR bats in 2011 that had all the feel and pop of broomsticks. The second generation in 2012 was better, but with the 2013 Vexxum, DeMarini produced a really good bat. Great pop, big sweet spot and very durable.

Cons: None!

34" 31 oz Big Show player

Pros: I have to be honest. I first used this bat in batting practice and I was lining the ball to the corners and popping up. However, once I broke the bat in a little bit and got a good feel for it, it's amazing. I love the feeling of the sweet spot and there is zero vibration. Ive read reviews saying that the voodoo seems to be the bat for power hitters and their wrong. If you cant hit a homerun with this bat then there is something wrong with your mechanics.

Cons: Paint chips off really easily. Its a baseball bat though...

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR Baseball Bat: DXVNC? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is the difference between 2013 and 2012 Vexxum models? sol
The 2013 Vexxum features DeMarini's new X10 Alloy. This alloy should be just as high performing and strong as the SC4 alloy used in the 2012 model, but is a little lighter in weight which allowed DeMarini to give the 2013 Vexxum a slightly longer barrel.
Tyler
I am 14, 5'11" and weigh about 150 lbs. I'm a contact hitter. Is this bat good for me or is there any other bat that will give me a clean, controllable, but powerful hit? tigerman16
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult bat is a great bat for a contact hitter as it is a two-piece hybrid design. Since the Vexxum is a two-piece design, it will provide more flex, giving you a whipping action as you swing the bat providing more bat speed.
Austin
Hi. I just turned 12 and about 5 foot 1 and I will have to use bbcor next year and I'm more of a line drive hitter. Should I get the 2013 Vexxum or the 2013 Voodoo? bgpro
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR and the 2013 Voodoo BBCOR are both two piece bats that are slightly end loaded. The 2013 Vexxum will have more flex than the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo.
Kara
How long does the warranty last for? HRking
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum comes with a full 12 month manufacturer's warranty. If anything happens to your bat, you will be covered for a year after the date of purchase.
Jennifer
Is this bat top heavy? bobby
The DXVNC is a well balanced bat.
Tyler
For a 5' 11" freshman cantact hitter is the 2013 Vexxum really that much better than the 2012 Vexxum nvp
There is not a huge difference between the 2012 DeMarini Vexxum and the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum. Two of the biggest differences are the looks of the bat and also the type of alloy that the barrel is manufactured with. The 2012 Vexxum has an SC4 Alloy barrel and the 2013 Vexxum has an X10 Alloy Barrel. The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum has newer technologies with the new type of alloy that is being used.
Austin
If I am 5' 4" and weigh 110, what size bat should I use? Right now im using the -5 Vexxum 33 in 28 oz. schiedy5
In the BBCOR model, our bat coach suggests a 29-30 in. bat in a -3. The link to our bat coach is http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/.
Nick
Is this bat legal for Senior Little League? Anthony
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR is legal for the Senior Little League division.
Kara
What DeMarini BBCOR bat do you recommend for a contact hitter looking for more distance on his hits? Andrew
I would recommend the DeMarini Voodoo. Since it is a two-piece bat, it will help with bat speed through the strike zone which will increase distance as well.
Nick K.
If I buy this bat now, will it be legal for play in the 2013-2014 baseball season? yes
Yes. The DeMarini Vexxum will maintain it's BBCOR certification for years to come.
Tyler
Which is a better bat for a 13 year old contact hitter a 2013 Vexxum BBCOR or a 2012 Voodoo BBCOR? Is either one end loaded? slugger21
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum is slightly end loaded and would be great for a contact hitter with power.
Kara
Hi, I am an incoming freshman this year and am looking for a back-up alluminum bat. i was wondering which bat would be best for me considering i am more of the line-drive type of hitter the 2013 demarini vexxum bbcor or the marucci black? Elijah
Both the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR and the Marucci Black BBCOR are great for a contact hitter. The DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR is slightly end loaded, better for a contact hitter with some power. The Marucci Black is more balanced.
Kara
Which bat has more balance, this or the Easton S3 BBCOR? Which one has more pop? K DOG
The DeMarini Vexxum is a two-piece but the Easton S3 will be more balanced. Both bats have an alloy barrel and will have good pop.
Damon
I am looking for a back-up aluminum bat for my freshman year of High School, and an honest opinion of which bat(based on preformance) is the best bat. The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum or the Marucci Black? Which bat is better, more durable, and the best bat? I <3 Jesus Christ
Both the DeMarini Vexxum and the Marucci Black are great bats and both are two-piece hybrids. Durability will depend on frequency of use. The Marucci Black will be slightly more balanced so if you are a contact hitter it may benefit you more.
Damon
If im 12 and about 5 foot and 80 pounds is this a good bat for me? jeter
Based on your height and weight, a 29" Adult BBCOR bat would be recommended. Unfortunately, the DeMarini Vexxum is not produced in that size. I would recommend the Easton S3. It is available in a size that would suit you.
Tyler
I am 5'4" and 120 pounds. What size bat should I get? DaR3ALMev
I would recommend a 31-32" bat. See our bat resource guide for further assistance. http://www.justbats.com/bat-resource-guide/selecting-a-baseballbat/
Damon
What BBCOR bat would be good for a contact hitter? DaR3ALMev
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR would be a great bat for a contact hitter. It is slightly end loaded, good for a hitter with some power.
Kara
Is this good for a power hitter? TheJaster
Yes, the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult will work well for a power hitter.
Zach
What is the best BBCOR bat for a contact hitter? A-TRAIN
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum would be a great choice. I would also suggest the DeMarini Voodoo. Both are very high performing bats.
Nick
Which bat would you give the edge to, the 2013 Vexxum or the 2012 Voodoo? DCDCDCDC
The 2012 Voodoo uses TR3 Strut composite in the handle and SC4 alloy in the barrel. The 2013 Vexxum uses C6 composite in the handle and X10 alloy in the barrel. Both bats would be very high performing. Here is a link to further compare the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
Is there a big difference between the 2012 model vs 2013 Vexxum models. I play in a senior league so saving 50 dollars on last years model is appealing to me. jimmy
There will not be much of a difference as far as performance is concerned. The main difference is the 2012 model of the DeMarini Vexxum features SC4 alloy in the barrel and the 2013 model features X10 alloy in the barrel.
Tom
This or 2012 CF5? DJ
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum and the 2012 DeMarini CF5 are both very high quality bats that have a lot of pop. The CF5 is going to be more balanced and the Vexxum will be slightly end loaded.
Nick
I'm 5 foot 1 and weigh about 95 pounds. Should I get the 31" 28oz. or 32" 29oz.? bgpro
For a player your size, the 31" 28 oz. 2013 DeMarini Voodoo would be a better fit for you than the 32" 29oz.
Tom
I'm 5 foot 1 weigh 95 pounds. Should I get the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo or the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum? bgpro
Both are excellent bats that use top of the line alloy and composite materials and are end loaded. The major difference is the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum has more flex than the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo.
Kara
Im 5 foot 5 112 Pounds. Should i get a 32" 29 oz. or 33" 30 oz. AD
Based on your height and weight, a 31" or 32" Adult BBCOR model would be recommended.
Tyler
I am about 5 feet tall, 95 pounds. Is it better to get a 32 inch, or a 33? I plan to use this bat for a long time... SupaSpeedo
Based on your height and weight, a 31" bat is actually recommended, but if you are looking for a bat to last you a few years, I would go with a 32" model.
Tyler
If the DeMarini Vexxum has more flex than the Voodoo, then why does the Voodoo cost more money? bgpro
The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo uses higher grade materials compared to the Vexxum. This will reflect the difference in price.
Nick
Does the 2012 Voodoo use higher grade materials than the 2013 Vexxum? bg
The 2012 Voodoo uses higher grade composite materials.
Kara
Is there a big difference in the SC4 barrel and the X10 alloy barrel? blake
The SC4 alloy and X10 alloy will be very comparable as far as durability and performance are concerned.
Tom
Why are there numbers at the end of the barrel? this guy
This is a Rotation Index to remind players to rotate their bat every time up. This creates an even break-in and greatly extends the life of the bat.
Tyler
Is there a big difference between the 2012 Vexxum and the 2013 Vexxum? Jsmooth
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR is going to use upgraded materials compared to the 2012 model. It will increase performance and durability.
Nick
I'm 17 years old, 6ft1 and weigh 157 pounds. What size Bat Should I get? Nathan

Kara
Does this bat have a big sweet spot? Long Ball Launcher
Yes, the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult bat will feature the Long Barrel Design with the Increased Sweet Spot. This Two-Piece bat will also have a great balanced swing weight.
Brandon
Do you know which bat is better Vexxum 2013 or Louisville Slugger Omaha TPX 2013 ? brad
Unfortunately, neither is proven to be better as it all depends on the hitter and what type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. When in doubt, it's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate.
Tyler
Im 12 in a month I will be 13 am 5-7 116 pounds what size bat should I get? brad
Based on your height and weight, a 30" Adult BBCOR bat is recommended.
Tyler
I'm 13 and 5"9 and 135lbs. What size should I get? G
A 32" model of the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC is recommended based on your size.
Tyler
I am going to be 13 years old, 5' 7", and 118 lbs. I have okay bat speed. What size 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR should I get? Is this a balanced bat? homerun
I would suggest using a 30" 27 oz., or a 31" 28 oz. The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult has more of an end loaded feel.
Doug F.
I'm 13 years old, 5ft, 8in and 150lbs. What size bat? I play 13U. con-wan
Based on your height and weight we recommend a 32" 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC.
Kara
My son is 5'9" and weighs 140lbs. He has what has been called "a quick swing". He already uses the 2012 32" Vexxum...Can he go to the 33" to slow the swing and give him more outside plate hitting? Bronxbomb
A 32" model is recommend based on his size, but if you are looking for more plate coverage, the 33" model would be an excellent choice.
Tyler
My son is 14, 5'4" and 130lbs. What size bat do you recommend? He used a 31 drop 5 last year and we were considering moving to the 32 drop 3. He does not have to use bbcor yet. Bulls Baseball
Based on his size, a 31" model of the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC is recommended.
Tyler
My son is 13 yrs old and has pretty quick swing. This will be his first season to swing -3 bat. Would the DXVNC feel too end loaded? dad of 2 ballers
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult will have an end loaded swing weight. For a player making the transition to a BBCOR it might be a little heavy. We recommend the 2013 DeMarini CF5 BBCOR: DXCFC which has a more balanced swing weight.
Kara
My son is 14 and has never used a drop 3 bat. He is 5'11, 135 pounds and has a quick bat but not alot of power. Is this a good bat for him? 16
Yes, the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult baseball bat would be a very good choice. It is a balanced bat and that should make the transition into a drop 3 easier. I would recommend a 32" 29 oz. bat for him.
Jeff
Which is the better bat for a contact hitter? The 2012 Easton S2, 2012 Vexxum, 2012 Voodoo, or the 2013 Vexxum? Which bat will give me the most bang for my buck? Rico
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult bat, the 2012 Vexxum, 2012 Voodoo, and Easton S2 will all be created the same. They will feature the composite handle and alloy barrel. None will require any period of break-in. The Voodoo will have an end loaded barrel heavy feel that most contact hitters do not prefer. My choice would be the S2. The balance will be more evenly distributed throughout the entire bat. Making the swing weight feel very light and the M.O.I. be very low.
Brandon
Do you have this bat in a 32" 27 oz? My son is looking for a bat to last two years and next year he is required to have a -5. Mike
Yes we do have the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum in a -5. The model number will be DXVX5.
Noah
Do you need to break in this bat, or any half and half bats in general? JV Cano24
No, the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult bat features an alloy barrel so it will not require a break in period. Only bats that are composite barreled will require a break in period.
Aubrey
No, the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult bat features an alloy barrel so it will not require a break in period. Only bats that are composite barreled will require a break in period.
Aubrey
Is this bat end loaded? mase
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC isn't the most balanced bat, but it isn't endloaded either. A stronger hitter would probably say it feels well balanced, where a hitter who doesn't have above average strength would probably say it feels a little endloaded.
Tyler
Is this a double barrel? mcballer
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult is not a double wall bat.
Kevin
I'm a power hitter and have a quick swing. Should I get this bat or 2014 DeMarini Vexxum? baseball kid
Both are great bats. The new NVS barrel design on the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum will provide for a lighter swing weight.
Damon
I'm not the biggest kid and I have to switch over to a BBCOR bat. Would this or the 2014 Vexxum be a better choice? mike
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult is slightly end loaded. The 2013 Vexxum NVS BBCOR is more balanced and would be best for a player who is just starting to use a BBCOR bat.
Kara
What is the difference between this 2013 Vexxum and the new 2014 Vexxum? TJ
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult will be more end loaded than the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR. The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS uses new technology for a more balanced swing weight.
Kara
Does this bat have a USSSA 1.15 stamp of certification? batboy
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult has the BBCOR stamp of certification. As of January 1, 2012, USSSA requires big barrel bats to either have the new USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp, be a wood bat or be a qualified BBCOR bat, as the Vexxum is. You can find more information about that on USSSA's site: http://www.usssa.com/usssa/usssa-general/NewUSSSABaseballBatMarks.pdf
Katie
Is this bat a top heavy bat? Or is it heavier at the handle? justin
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult bat will be balanced and have a slight end load. It is a two-piece bat. It will feature a composite handle and an alloy barrel.
Brandon
I'm trying to decide between this bat, the Easton S1 and the Louisville Slugger EXOGRID 3. I'm 13 and a very good contact hitter but I want to hit the ball as far as I can. doodle
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult and the Easton S1 are both great for contact hitters. The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum is more end loaded, better suited for a contact hitter with some power.

I am 14 and use a -3 BBCRO Easton. It is very top heavy. Even my coach says it is. It is a 30" 27 oz. I am 5'5" and weigh 120. Is a 32" 29 oz. to big for me? I usually get doubles and singles. Would this bat be to big? junior
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult is also slightly end loaded. The new 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR: DXVXC Adult is very balanced and would be a better option if do not like the end loaded feel. Based on your height and weight we recommend a 31" 28 oz. bat.
Kara
Which is better the DeMarini Voodoo or DeMarini Vexxum? mikeboy
Both the Vexxum and the Voodoo will use the same X10 alloy in the barrel. The Voodoo will have a larger sweet spot with a slight end load design. The Vexxum is going to be one of the most balanced bats on the market.
John
My son just turned 15 years old, is 5'10", 185 lbs, a strong contact hitter who prefers an end loaded bat (used an Easton XL2 this year). Now facing faster pitching, what bat would you recommend (Vexxum vs. Voodoo, 32 vs. 33 etc)? dirtdawg
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult is a very balanced bat and would be best when facing faster pitching. The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo is end loaded and better for a power hitter. Based on his height and weight we recommend a 33" 30 oz. bat.
Kara

Aubrey

Based off the size of your son he needs to be using a balanced model bat. The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum is a very balanced bat and would be great for your son. He should be using a 32" 29 oz. bat.
Noah

Both the Easton S1 and DeMarini Vexxum are balanced bats designed for contact hitters. If you are a power hitter I would consider the Easton XL1 or DeMarini Voodoo as they are end loaded.
Damon

The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult bat would be a good selection. There is also the newer 2014 BBCOR version, 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR: DXVXC Adult. It has a lighter swing weight than the 2013 model. Also, DeMarini makes a very balanced fully composite bat called the 2013 DeMarini CF5 BBCOR: DXCFC Adult.

I am 14 and looking for a bat for high school. I am 5'11" and about 165 lbs. I have used a 32'' for a long time and I saw that this came in a 32.5. I was wondering if I should go with a 32, 32.5, or 33? I am mostly a gap to gap hitter with some power. josh
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: DXVNC Adult in a 32'', but you could consider going up to a 32.5'' or 33'' if you are able to swing a 32'' well. Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 31" or a 32" model in the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR (DXVXC) Adult. The 33" or 34" models in the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR (DXVNC) Adult might be a little too big for you at this time.

I'm 14. Could I use this bat for my rec team? blasterboy
It really depends on the specific requirements of the league you are playing in. I would ask a coach or league official what requirements you need prior to making a purchase. But this DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR: (DXVNC) Adult bat is BBCOR certified which is the requirement for high school and collegiate play. At your age, this bat could definitely be a possibility for you.
Mac
I am 5'10" & 190lbs with fast bat speed. What length and weight should I get? wayne
Typically for a player of this height and weight we would suggest a 33 inch bat. The weight of the bat is dependent on a players strength and comfort level but high school and collegiate play require a -3 length to weight ratio. For a 33" bat it must weigh 30 oz.

What bat is the better pick, the 2013 Vexxum or Rawlings 5150? NewPlaya420
I would recommend the DeMarini Vexxum BBCOR (DXVNC) if you are a contact hitter. The two-piece design on the Vexxum will add more trampoline effect off the barrel, which the contact hitters prefer. If you are a power hitter I suggest the 2013 Rawlings 5150 (BBCA2) since it is a one-piece design that power hitters prefer.
Kelby

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
