2013 DeMarini Slow Pitch Bats

What are some qualities that you look for in a slow pitch softball bat? Pop? Durability? A game-ready feel? The confidence that you have the right weapon in your hands when you step into the box can make all the difference between track power and circling the bases. Gain that confidence with one of these new bats from DeMarini’s 2013 slow pitch lineup.

2013 DeMarini Flipper

The Flipper is new from DeMarini for 2013 and only approved for ASA play. It’s a two-piece hybrid design with Divergence barrel technology, which is two layers of composite with an air gap sandwiched in between. This creates an incredibly responsive sweet spot specifically designed to crush the new ASA .52/300 balls. The Flipper’s SC4 alloy handle provides an incredibly stiff feel, almost like you’re swinging a one-piece bat. The Flipper is catching the attention of power and contact hitters alike, but don’t just take our word for it. Check out this review from Patrick:

2013 DeMarini The ONE FU-Dawg

The ONE, or Sunday Swagger, has been one of DeMarini’s hottest slow pitch bats in recent years, and the FU-Dawg is no different. This two-piece hybrid design features a SC4 alloy handle, for an extra stiff feel, and a 4.ONE composite, end loaded barrel. The ONE is hot right out of the wrapper and ready to add some swagger to your game! ASA and ISF approved.

2013 DeMarini J3 ASA & USSSA

The J3 is the third edition of DeMarini’s popular Juggernaut line, and available in both a USSSA and ASA approved model. The J3 has a two-piece design that uses DeMarini’s patented TR3 F.L.O. composite material. The naturally chaotic and random fusing of the TR3’s composite fibers creates a more compact material that is stronger and lighter than ever before. Check out these customer reviews and see how the J3 is changing their game!

Jessica Mendoza On Being Beautifully Powerful

Sometimes to be successful on the field you have to stand out from the crowd and do things a little different. You can’t be afraid to try new things and you can’t be afraid to be who you are. History has a pretty good track record of successful people who have done things a little different and gone out of their comfort zone. Baseball and softball are no exception and that’s the message Louisville Slugger is trying to send with their “Beautifully Powerful” campaign. In the video above Jessica Mendoza says, “The best way to be successful in any sport and, honestly, even off the field is to be beautifully powerful and true to yourself and not try to be like everybody else.” and it makes a lot of sense. The only way to get better at some things is to try a new way of doing it. Louisville Slugger has several resources they have given us to be inspired to be more “Beautifully Powerful.” You can find it on a Facebook page, @sluggerFP on Twitter, and on a Pinterest page for Fastpitch players where you can find tons of awesome graphics to pin and share with your friends. Be sure to check out the Fastpitch page on www.slugger.com for more info and to support this awesome campaign! Also be sure to check out the Louisville Slugger Fast Pitch bats from JustBats.com!

Top Ten Game Day Essentials

Have you ever arrived at the ball field for that big game and realized you left something really important at home? We all know how frustrating that can be, so we here at JustBats.com came up with a list of the Top Ten Game Day Essentials in hopes to help you all remember some of the more important items. Each day for ten days we will post a new Game Day Essential, so at the end you have a nice list to look at and read over. We are going to start with the glove, you absolutely can’t leave home without your glove.

Forgetting your own glove can be super frustrating, especially if you end up having to use someone else’s because chances are it just won’t feel right. You have broken in that glove, loved and cared for it from day one, so this is an important one to remember. Maybe that glove you have loved and cared for for so long is starting to get worn out and you need a new one. Just head to JustBallGloves.com and check out some of our most popular gloves, we are sure you will find what you are looking for.

What’s a baseball or softball game without a bat? It probably would be a lot less exciting, so this one is also extremely important. Again, there’s nothing better than crushing that ball with your own bat so it would be awfully sad to leave it at home. JustBats.com has a huge selection of bats to choose from, so if you need your first one or if the one you have just isn’t cutting it anymore, stop by JustBats.com and pick from some of the hottest bats on the market. Be sure to choose a bat that best fits the league you are in.

We would hate to see everyone running around the fields in your sandals and it probably wouldn’t feel very good either, and who knows, if no one on your team has a pair of cleats to spare, you might be out of luck, so be sure to keep these in your bag. Cleats are extremely important for game-day and can make running around those bases a lot easier. Always a good thing to have around.

Not every player uses batting gloves, but if you do, and you leave them at home your swing just won’t be the same. Batting gloves can help with grip and can also reduce vibration transferring to your hands for a more comfortable swing. So if you don’t use them, it might not hurt to try them out. Batting gloves can be essential to your performance so always keep a pair on hand. You can pick up a pair up from JustBats.com right now!

Warming up with a bat weight can give you a huge advantage over other players. We wouldn’t recommend swinging with one at full speed, but simply warming up with one, even rotating your arms with a weighted bat in your hands can help get your muscles in a better place before you stand up to the plate. JustBats.com has a big selection of bats to help with training, head over there and check them out!

On any given day the weather can go from cool to hot and rainy to sunny in a matter of minutes. So it’s not a bad idea to pack a jacket just in case. This one goes out to the families and friends supporting the players on the field as well, if it’s cool outside an athlete usually can warm up pretty easily but sitting in the stands and not moving can make for a very long and cold tournament day, so bring some layers that can easily be removed.

We all know that mid-day sun can be brutal, especially when it is starting to set on the horizon and it can be right in your eyes. A pop fly can be really hard to see when you have the sun right behind it blinding you, and looking at the sun can be really bad for your eyes, so bring some sunglasses to protect them. A pair of sunglasses with polarized lenses is the best thing if you really want to insure your eyes will be protected.

If you really want to be on top of your game it’s important to fuel your body with the right kind of nutrients. Some good snacks for athletes include almonds, fruits, like bananas and apples, trail mix, yogurt, oats, energy bars and granola bars and a peanut butter sandwich is always good.

Hydration is extremely important when you’re outdoors for long periods of time, especially with this summer we just had with record breaking temperatures all across the U.S. It’s easy to become dehydrated when it’s so hot outside and you may not even realize it before it’s too late. Some signs of dehydration include a dry mouth, feeling very tired for no reason, becoming extremely thirsty, dry skin, severe headache and dizziness. If you start to feel these during game day it’s time to down a Gatorade and drink some water.

Now some of you may be trying to work on that perfect tan while your out on the ball field, but it’s important to get some sunscreen on, especially with some tournaments lasting most of the day, it’s easy to get a pretty nasty burn. So don’t be afraid, slap some SPF 35 on and go home from your game knowing you won’t look like a tomato.

COMBAT And The Louisiana State University Lady Tigers

Combat Swinging Tigers Roar into WCWS.

The Louisiana State Tigers secured their spot in the Woman’s College World Series, with a little help from Combat.

Combat Avaritia in action at the Columbia, MO Super Regional

May 28th, 2012. Kent, WA – The Lady Tigers from Louisiana State University are on their way to one of the greatest NCAA events of the year; the Woman’s Softball College World Series in Oklahoma City where they will face the top-ranked Cal Golden Bears in their opening game. LSU defeated Missouri 3-1 Sunday night to cement their place in the final.

LSU coach Beth Torina could not have asked for a better first season with the team. The Tigers are peaking at the right time and are ready for this next hurdle. The goal from day one was to make the postseason and that is just what they have done. “There is trust in each other and in the coaching staff and it’s really paying off,” added some of the LSU players..

Against Missouri in the decisive third game, the turning point came in the bottom of the third – down 1-0, the Tigers came up with a bases-loaded double that plated three runs and LSU never looked back.

Coach Torina wasn’t the only one supporting her team all season – LSU’s equipment supplier, Combat Sports has also been rooting for the softball team since before the season began. Early on, coach Torina and Combat’s engineers sat down to create the Avaritia. It is Combat’s first two-piece fast-pitch bat and has been flying off the shelves since it was released in November.

LSU’s line-up of North American-made Combat Avaritia bats were seen during the team’s season and will be featured nation-wide throughout the WCWS – further promoting Combat’s passion for the game and philosophy of “for players, by players.”

Combat’s staff sends their best to the LSU Tigers and remind them that there’s a little bit of extra passion built into each and every one of their bats.

JustBats.com Buyer’s Guide: Slow Pitch Softball Bats

Finding a slow pitch softball bat can be a very diligent task with how large the selection is out there.  Let’s break it down by a few certain key criteria to be sure you get a bat that fits your needs.

All slow pitch bats have 2-1/4 inch barrel, are 34 inches long, and generally weigh from 26 to 30 ounces. Only a few select slow pitch models are made in a 29 oz.  If you are a bigger player that loves to smash the ball, you probably are looking for something in the 28 oz to 30 oz range, whereas, if you are a smaller to average size player, you will probably want something in the 26 oz to 27 oz range.

When you search for a slow pitch bat, you’ll notice that they’re two different types to choose from, balanced and endloaded. Balanced models mean that the weight is evenly distributed throughout the bat, and an endloaded model means that the weight is distributed towards the end of the bat. Most players choose to swing a balanced bat, while big power hitters tend to opt for an endloaded bat.

It’s very important to make sure your bat meets league or tournaments rules.  There are many different sanctioned governing bodies such as ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, ISF and Senior Softball.  Leagues may require a certification stamp, so be sure to check your league’s listings to see what specs are necessary.  Check out JustBats.com for the largest selection of slow pitch bats, and remember, from click to hit.

JustBats.com Buyer’s Guide: Youth Big Barrel Baseball Bats

How long of a bat do you need? How heavy should it be? The key to finding a good bat is getting the perfect size and weight that fits you. JustBats.com is here to help so lets find a big barrel that is perfect for you. Youth bats can either be wood or metal. Most players prefer using a metal bat because they tend to be lighter and are easier to control. Youth Big Barrel bats also call called Senior League bats can be used by any age player as long as their league allows them, but are typically used by players age 10 to 14. These bats can have a 2-5/8 inch barrel diameter or a 2-3/4 inch barrel diameter. 2-3/4 inch barrels are commonly called monster barrels as they have the largest barrel available. Big barrel bats range from 27 to 32 inches in length and have between a -7 to -10 length to weight ratio or drop as it is commonly called. It is important to get a bat that fits you so you can have complete control and maximum performance in every swing. If the bat is too heavy you will lose control and you will more than likely be hitting a lot of foul balls because you are not squarely making contact. If the bat is too light you won’t get the maximum amount of power out of your swing. Check out this chart to help you select a bat that will fit your needs. It gives you a ballpark estimate of what size is right for you according to your height and weight. This chart is also available on our website JustBats.com. Some of the most common big barrel youth leagues are majors, Senior Babe Ruth and American Legion Baseball. Remember it is always a good idea to check your league’s rules and regulations as some leagues require a safety certification stamp or will not allow a certain barrel size. Make sure you are aware of any particular specs your league might require, but most importantly go out there and take some cuts and see what size bat really feels most comfortable to you. Experimentation is the best way to really get a feel for what the perfect size bat is. For more information check out JustBats.com and remember from CLICK to HIT.

3. As Facilities Manager, what kind of responsibilities do you undertake each day?
My team’s main focus is to create the “WOW” in every individual who walks through our facility. My responsibilities range from managing facilities expansions and interior remodel projects, to insuring our facility is immaculate and all resources/ amenities we have are working properly 100% of the time. We are constantly improving our facility and our systems.
4. Is it difficult keeping a big building like this spotless and up-to-date everyday?
In order to maintain an awesome facility like ours, you have to have good employees and great systems in place to do so. We create, monitor, and improve our systems everyday to ensure keeping our facility spotless and up-to-date is easy.
5. Everyone around here knows you’re a hard worker, both on the job and training, what kind of activities do you train for?

JustBats.com Buyer’s Guide: About Softball Bats

How long of a bat do you need? How heavy should it be? The key to finding a good bat is getting the perfect size and weight that fits you. JustBats.com is here to help. It is important to get a bat that fits you so that you can have complete control and maximum performance in every swing. If the bat is too heavy you will lose control and you will more than likely be hitting a lot of foul balls because you are not squarely making contact. If the bat is too light you won’t get the maximum power out of your swing. A well hit ball won’t go as far as it would with a slightly heavier bat, due to a loss of momentum. All softball bats have a 2-1/4 inch barrel, and Slow Pitch bats are 34 inches long and generally weigh from 26 to 30 ounces. Fastpitch bats range from 26 to 34 inches long and can have a length to weight ratio between -8 and -13. What type of bat do you want? Bats can be made from either composite or aluminum materials. Aluminum bats are ready for the field right out of the wrapper and can be slightly less expensive. Composite bats tend to have a larger sweet spot and perform better the more you use them.
