2014 DeMarini Voodoo Paradox Baseball Bat

2014voodooThe Voodoo has always been one of the hottest bats in DeMarini’s lineup. But this year, DeMarini kicks the power up a notch with the updated 2014 Voodoo Paradox.

The Voodoo Paradox has the familiar two-piece hybrid design, but DeMarini fine-tuned the barrel walls to be the thinnest and lightest on the market. This tweak allowed the designers to create a sweet spot bigger than anything seen on previous Voodoo models. DeMarini also uses their new Paradox composite material to design a stiffer handle than in year’s past, helping to increase the Voodoo Paradox’s response. The newly designed RCK knob rests comfortably at the base of your hand, and the new Ion V end cap is designed to eliminate barrel vibration and transfer energy back into the sweet spot.

For high school and collegiate ballplayers, DeMarini has altered the placement of their Taper Ring Technology. By placing the ring deeper in the taper, the designers were able to stay within BBCOR standards and still keep the barrel walls thin and the swing-weight low. The Voodoo Paradox is available in BBCOR, Senior League -9 and -5 and a -13 Youth.

Easton S Series:

The S1 is a two-piece bat with a composite handle and barrel and available in BBCOR, Senior League, Youth and Jr. Big Barrel designs. The Science Behind The Baden AXE

A hitter’s ability to correctly use their hands when swinging immediately helps them stand out at the plate, so why not use a bat that will put your hands in the correct position and increase your bat speed? That is where Baden comes to the rescue with their AXE handle technology. The handle of a Baden AXE looks just like it sounds, the handle of an axe. Lets take a look at the science behind Baden’s AXE technology and the five benefits to the AXE handle.

1. Made to fit your hands – The oval contour of the AXE handle aligns with the natural angles of your hand to provide a comfortable feel.

2. Puts the bat in your fingertips – Gives you a more efficient swing. When a bat is in the palm of your hands tension is created. Tension in your hands and forearms at the start of your swing will reduce your bat speed. With the bat in your fingertips, you increase your bat speed and more energy is transferred into the ball.

Miken Doesn’t Play the Game… They Dominate It!

Miken is back in the baseball world and better than ever. This week we saw the release of the brand new RZR line. The RZR is available in BBCOR, Senior League 10, Youth -12, and Junior Big Barrel -10. When the research and development department at Miken sat down to design this year’s line they really took player input into consideration. In past years players were calling for more pop and big barrels. Well, due to rule changes in just about every league, player’s requests have changed. Now we hear requests for better balance and more bat speed. This is exactly what Miken had in mind with the new RZR line.

The RZR features the T3000 alloy. Outside of the one engineer that might read this blog, no one knows what that means. The T3000 alloy is one of the strongest in the industry. Due to the strength of this alloy Miken was able to create a bat with thinner walls and a bigger sweet spot to enhance consistent performance. With thinner walls in the barrel they were also able to create balanced weight distribution to maximize swing speed. Players asked for balance and speed and that is exactly what they will get with the new RZR line.

After swinging the RZR Adult (ABRZR3) I was very impressed. Most of the first generation BBCOR bats had a tendency to be very end-loaded. That is not the case with the ABRZR3. You can really feel the thinner walls effect on the balance. This bat swings like BESR bats of the past. After about ten hits I was really starting to square the ball up. Miken has always had great grips on their bats, but the new Extreme X-Tack grip really feels great in your hands. It almost felt like the bat had pine tar on it.  The thin walls in the barrel were very responsive. You can tell they spent the extra time and money to make this bat perform at a peak level. When you consider it is priced at $199.99, and comes with some state of the art graphics, I would feel confident putting the RZR up against the XL3/S3, CAT5, and 5150.  Miken took their time on the release of this bat and I personally was very, very, impressed.
