Variety is the spice of life, but it is also a major factor in keeping people motivated to exercise, so Justbats.com has a pool on site that offers employees an unconventional option to get in their daily dose of exercise. Water is energetic. It can be used as a powerful means of resistance for exercising, all while relaxing the joints and large muscle groups that we depend on all day. One can use the powerful properties of water to get in a cardio, muscular, and flexibility workout in just 20 minutes. Justbats.com employees love to mix things up so you can always bet on someone aqua-exercising with smiles from ear to ear.

JustBats.com Blood Drive
On February 3rd the Community Blood Center of Kansas City made the trip out to JustBats.com to facilitate our first annual Blood Drive. Thank you to all of the JustBats.com employees who signed up, it looks like our first company wide donation is on course to be a success.
Blood cannot be imitated or duplicated by even the most advanced technologies, and that is why organizations like the Community Blood Center rely so heavily on mass donations. According to the their statistics, approximately 580 donors are required to donate every weekday to meet Kansas City area patients needs. So if you are having a hard time volunteering to get poked by one of the friendly associates from the CBC just know that every donation makes a difference. Blood carries nutrients, oxygen and hormones from the heart to toes and back again in under a minute. Our blood removes toxic chemicals from the body so as to protect us from the array of harmful substances we come in contact with so frequently. Unfortunately sometimes we do not understand just how important donating blood is until we are in need ourselves.
Do you want to know why donating blood is really cool? According to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, when you donate blood, your body replaces the blood volume within 48 hours of donation, and all of the red blood cells you lose during donation are completely replaced within four to eight weeks. This process of replenishment can help your body stay healthy and work more efficiently and productively, so donating your blood is a win-win situation!
Team JustBats.com, Improving Year After Year!
I would first like to extend a big congratulations to everyone at JustBats.com for being nominated as one of the healthiest places to work in the Kansas City area. The criteria for this award is based on the actions taken by a company to improve the overall health of their workforce. Healthiest Employer, LLC is a privately held company that has developed a system of evaluating wellness initiatives within a work site. Their mission is as follows:
Healthiest Employers is dedicated to measuring wellness programming in today’s employers. Our mission is simple: to collect data, analyze trends, and offer insights to wellness-minded organizations.
As a company, Healthiest Employers strives to motivate other companies to evolve their health initiatives to the next level. Wellness initiatives are becoming more and more popular within business work sites for a number of reasons. People are starting to notice the correlation between health status and productivity level, absenteeism percentage, health insurance premiums, and the overall cultural climate of a population. As much as we differ from person to person we all have one thing in common: the need to maintain our physical health. Some people find that when they improve their physical health, it correlates with improving other aspects of their health as well.
If you were to flip through any of the success model books available in the JustBats.com library, you will likely find at least one chapter devoted to maintaining good physical health as a means to accomplishing your life goals. This is no coincidence, it is science. If you invest time and energy into fueling your body by consuming necessary nutrients and exercising regularly, your body will definitely return the favor.
JustBats.com has improved greatly from last year’s KC’s Healthiest Employers assessment, and that is something to be celebrated. But there is much room to improve. With our technological resources and energetic population, we really do have the opportunity to be a model for other businesses who want to implement fun, creative, and innovative wellness initiatives.
The Healthiest Employers awards banquet is February 13 and we are all anxious to see where JustBats.com stands in this year’s results. There is no way to manufacture the cultural climate of a population, it just happens naturally, and the culture that has developed at JustBats.com is a direct reflection of who we are. So thank you to everyone at JustBats.com, and keep up the good work!
Crank It Up A Few Notches With The Worth Amp!
The Worth Amp is a one piece aluminum bat that seems to have one up on all of the competition with its super extended barrel. Worth claims that with this bat they have designed the longest barrel in fast pitch softball, and I believe they are right! The increased surface area of this extended barrel seems to give hitters a little extra confidence at the plate because they soon find out that the extended barrel means… you guessed it, a bigger sweet spot! With other bats that claim to have an extended barrel you can also bet that these bats tend to feel slightly end weighted, but not the Amp. Worth has developed a bat that increases the sweet spot, all the while maintaining a balanced swing weight for hitters looking for control and power. So if you are looking to get the most out of your money for your next bat purchase, look no further, the Worth Amp is here at JustBats.com!
Core Value: Create a Healthy Work Environment
Progress is something that I have been struggling with lately, and I have found that it is not just me; everyone struggles with progress due to the never ending puzzle that is life. Life can sometimes feel daunting, but as humans we strive to solve our problems. Some people have a variety of problems on any given day, while others solve the same types of problems five days a week. Either way our bodies are being attacked by the stressors of this world. Luckily, by design humans have conditioned themselves to be extremely resilient, we plug on day after day hopefully getting the opportunity to enjoy the time we have with our loved ones.
With all of that said, I have to mention the fact that working in an environment where health is held in a high regard is so refreshing and has definitely been a blessing in my life. Health is “an ever changing, dynamic condition, including physical, social, emotional, intellectual, vocational, spiritual, cultural, and environmental dimensions”. This is the definition I reference when I mention the health of humans. Health cannot be defined as one thing because it means something different to everyone. I am starting to think that in a given population, creating a healthy workplace may just mean creating a place that is open to diversity and different ways of thinking. Also creating a healthy workplace is about respecting ourselves as well as the science of biology. With all due respect to our younger generation who has not yet experienced the side effects of aging, not everyone in the world can depend on their age or genetic make-up to maintain a balanced level of health. For some, having extra motivation or aid in modifying their lifestyles to be healthier, and having the resources to improve their health at work is a major relief.
There are systems that have been created to increase health in the most incremental and effective ways; it is biology in its most simple state. Implementing simple ways to maximize the general health of a workplace can only be good for business. It just so happens that, as humans, when we progress to higher levels of bodily fitness, some of the side effects are more positive attitudes, lower levels of stress, and higher levels of productivity. Sounds good right? It’s this positivity and productivity that is the basis behind why employers find investing in a healthier work environment beneficial. In the library at JustBats.com, you will find Law of Attraction; a self help book by Michael J. Losier. The following passage from Losier’s book gives a little insight into why positivity is key to solving problems:
“It’s important to understand that the Law of Attraction is already existing in your life whether you understand it or not, whether you like it or not or whether you believe it or not. If you like what you are observing, then celebrate it, and in your celebration you will get more of it. If you don’t like what you are getting then it is time to tap into the Law of Attraction more deliberately so you can stop attracting what you don’t want and more of what you do.” Positivity is a powerful thing, it may not always be tangible but it is infectious, for this I am thankful.
Working in a well balanced healthy work place is not something everyone has experienced. I grew up in a single parent household. My mom worked long hours and carted my sisters and I around town to make sure that we got to softball and soccer tournaments, dance recitals, and 4H meetings , for the sole purpose of keeping busy and out of trouble. She always wanted for us to not hate the careers we chose to pursue in our lives. She would always talk about how much her job drove her crazy, but she couldn’t get out of it because she had responsibilities. She wanted more for us. JustBats.com has been a saving grace for me because I don’t hate coming here. I actually enjoy the people I work with, and I have all that I need at my fingertips, so I want to celebrate that. Naturally, I am now thinking about what is next for me in life. What is refreshing about a healthy work environment is that it is the stepping stone of progression and positivity, but it is up to the individual to open themselves to the endless possibilities.
TPX Vertex
Louisville Slugger has really stuck to their guns with the Vertex series. The Vertex series is great balance of technology and respect for the game. Louisville uses their very strong LS-2x composite material for the handle which makes it even more stiff than its counterpart, the Exogrid. The very stiff handle with an alloy barrel creates a whipping action through the zone that is like no other. The combination of composite handle with an alloy barrel makes for an incredible barrel flex for hitters looking for an edge on the competition. The Vertex proves that Louisville is maximizing technology to its fullest potential.
Players and fans nationwide can rest assured that the TPX Vertex is a great example of why Louisville Slugger is a mainstay for America’s favorite pastime.
Marucci Cat 5 Junior Big Barrel
They are here! Moms and Dads get your wallet ready the new Marruci Cat 5 Junior Big Barrel has arrived! Don’t worry, it’s not going to break the bank with it’s reasonable price. And there is NOTHING Junior about this bat. Your little guy will be able to smack them just like the big kids with the Cat 5 bat. Even with the monster barrel it is still lightweight, balanced, and great for kids starting out in coach pitch. This bat can compete with all the composite Junior Big Barrel’s out there with it’s high performing alloy.
Kids can’t wait to get their hands on this one. No vibration and it has one of the biggest sweet spots and “pop” your ears can handle. My nephews are pounding down my door to get the new Cat 5. Hope it’s not too hot to handle!
New Z-1000 Senior League Bat
It’s fall ball time in our local league and my son is ready to make sliding catches and hit some balls out of the park! What better way to start the season then grabbing the new Louisville Slugger Z-1000 and giving it a test run? He’s used the Easton Omen in the past, so he was ready to try the newest composite bat. The bat is 2 ounces heavier than his Omen, but he got around quick and hit the ball “really far” in his words. Even Grandpa noticed a difference and couldn’t believe how hard his grandson actually hit the ball with a heavier bat. My kid is tall, but he’s not going to win any arm wrestling contests anytime soon. So the balanced weight was great for his swing. And of course, the most important feature of any bat to a nine year old, “it looks really, really cool” and I look really cool holding it Mom! Well, who wouldn’t want to look cool hammering balls into the outfield with every swing? Kids don’t care about improving their stats like RBI’s, HRs, OBP, SLG, and OPS, right? Then they would never like this bat.
Of course, now the begging and pleading begins by both my son and the rest of this teammates; when and where can I get this bat?! Now here’s the real question, do we call this an early birthday present or a really, really, really early Christmas present.? I think Santa might keep it for himself…. No matter what, we need to get our hands on the Z-1000 soon before all his teammates swipe them up!
